No frills and thrills, just some tables, chairs and a couple couches. Fine by me! The coffee speaks for itself. I opted for a hot pistachio cream latte. It was well balanced, not too sweet at all. I enjoyed the bites of pistachio topping. I did not try a pastry today but they all looked delicious. There was only one barista at 830am so it took a while to get my coffee. If you're in a rush this might not be a place you'd want to stop by on the way to work. But if you have time, it's worth the wait. I gave it 4 stars because the floor was very sticky when I visited. Not sure if someone spilled something or if it wasn't cleaned, but a couple of other patrons noticed the stickiness also.

We hadn't had coffee this way since our Greece trip in 2019 so we went to see if it was legit. As soon as we walked in we were in awe of the dessert spread that you walk past to get to the counter. The cakes looked SO moist and delicious! There were so many tantalizing flavor combos, but what stopped me in my tracks were the New York Rolls. Think giant crispy stuffed croissants! I ordered the Pistachio Cream one and no lie, it was 6 inches across and 2.5-3 inches tall. They asked if I wanted it heated (umm yes) and it was AHMAZING.i also ordered the fig and honey latte while my husband ordered the Turkish coffee. So good and unique! In fact, our visit was so good that 8 days later I chose Fig and Olive Cafe as a hang out spot for friends and I to gather for brunch. We all got the other three flavors of the New York Roll (Chocolate Hazelnut, Fig and Honey, and Biscoff Cookie) and shared them. I got the Pistachio Crème iced coffee and it was also excellent! 10/10 recommend these pastries! We had the opportunity to sit at the cafe from 9am-12:30 and we sat in cozy leather couches and enjoyed ourselves quite nicely! Staff were friendly and helpful.

Now this place is on my radar and when I need coffee in Greensboro I will look for Common Grounds. Most other places were closed or closing at this time of night and consider ourselves so fortunate to have found this place. To me it is the essential Coffee House. It must cater to college age clientele, as observed that night. Grungy and edgy atmosphere with a beatnik vibe that night. Especially with the poetry reading and rotation of musicians doing the music of The Beatles and the 1960s. Which makes sense since it was Sir Paul McCartney's birthday that day. I felt like I time traveled decades back. The coffee that we got was excellent. I believe I got a standard cafe latte. Inviting coffee aromas. Housed in an building from an older error, in an immense space with multiple areas/nooks. Back area I did not spend time in but I could see there was a pool table back there with people just hanging out. Definitely seem like places where people could just be themselves whilst being warm and inviting to those near them. Felt welcoming to intellectualism and good discussions. Also felt like a place not to be rushed and just stay however long. Plenty of board and other games on site. Kind of limited parking in the lot right in front of the building. Parking on the avenue might be challenging? We were lucky to get a spot right by the front door in the parking lot. Close proximity to UNCG campus and other schools. Probably a place that can be walk to fairly easy. In closing one of my favorite coffee houses that I've experienced in the Piedmont triad area.

I remember the vibes were pretty welcoming. I have gone once since then but during the day and the vibes were pretty chill and low-key but nothing too crazy. Just a typical experience but also a really good college outing memory. The matcha I had from there wasn't particularly my favorite but they used to keep their espresso machine up at night during the performance, I'm not completely sure if I remember correctly if they sold liquor or alcohol but the drink that I did have from there the first time I went was pretty good. The ambiance is pretty normal for greensboro, I feel like almost every establishment you walk in, there will be cracked floors but I just remember the staff was pretty awesome and as far as pastries, they had a pretty good variety and gluten free options and other food sensitivity options. I believe a few years ago, I recall an episode of "Catfish" where Nev and Max also visited this place so that was pretty interesting to experience that but honestly a pretty decent place.

Yesterday, I was told to grab a seat and I had to go up and ask for menus and water, the server completely ignored an empty water glass and couldn't remember which of us ordered what (she had 3 tables max and the other 2 had already been served) and then we were ignored more until we asked for the check. If the place was packed, I'd understand slow service - but with multiple employees just standing around, poor service should be the last thing a customer receives, If I come back, it will only be for to go orders. Can someone also please teach these serves how to bus and clean a table? But today was the day! As soon as you show up, you know this isn't your typical coffee shop. The vibe inside gives off quiet workspace/library, and definitely gives off the lobby of an Inn (think Gilmore Girls.) There was some people scattered around but I didn't take a deep look inside since I was just passing by. I ordered my ice vanilla latte. The first thing I remember realizing was that it wasn't very sweet. Which is not a bad thing, sometimes they can be made really sweet other times they can be not so sweet.
