It turns out that, indeed, this coffee shop is nestled in a neighborhood. But if you look closely for a rusted-looking building that looks completely abandoned, then you will find Steelyard Coffee. It's hidden in plain sight. Once I got inside, I was delighted to see a warm and welcoming space, with a full coffee menu and other beverages, like tea and smoothies. I just wanted a little cup of green tea, so that's what I got, in a to-go cup. It was ready lickety-split. Steelyard has a few things to eat, like some cookies and muffins, as well as pans of baked oatmeal, parfaits, breakfast burritos, quiche and other breakfasty things. There are plenty of places to sit, and the decor is very farmhouse and rustic. It seems like a nice place to sit and work remotely or visit with a friend, but also a place where you can hit it and quit it like I did.

The reason for this note is because of their great reputation, people would make the trip to this location, on a busy S Main Street that is often under construction and isn't a great location. Went with coworkers for lunch and unfortunately the restaurant was empty at 12:30 pm. We each ordered the arepas at the counter and an empanada. They had chicken, chorizo, beef and pork arepas, all of our food was delicious. Their pastries and baked goods looked delicious but we didn't order any. One review mentioned the smell, there was an odor when you walked in. I wish them luck, this may be a difficult location to get the breakfast and lunch crowd, but I recommend that you give them a try.

A great and varied selection to choose from. We opted to get one of each of the turtles. Soooo good and little works of art, these are. Shaped like turtles with different colors on them to help tell you what nuts are inside. Wonderfully nice people working there. When you get a lot like we did, it adds up.
