This was my first time visiting Discovery Bay for a weekend stay, and I stopped by for some Starbucks before my drive back to Los Angeles. I came to this location at 8:30 a.m. on a Monday and loved that it wasn't busy my drink was ready within five minutes. I ordered two brown sugar cortados. I had seen some negative reviews about the customer service and wanted to see for myself if it was really that bad. Surprisingly, the service was friendly, and I didn't experience any attitude at all. I'm hoping the service stays this consistent. The plaza location is convenient, with other stores and restaurants nearby. The inside is a decent size, and parking wasn't bad either. Overall, a solid experience. read more

I came here this past weekend and wanted to get a cold brew with the banana foam. I had tried it at the Starbucks on Brentwood Blvd and it was delicious! I thought I'd get it at the Starbucks closer to home and very much regretted it. I had ordered it with a splash of oatmilk and it was all just sitting at the bottom not mixed it. I could have lived with that but what made this undrinkable was the foam. The foam was not even throughly mixed. It was super flat and just tasted like flat milk and had big chucks of the banana powder. My Mom ordered a similar drink and was just as bad. Drink was so bad I don't even want them to remake it, we just went to the Starbucks on Brentwood Blvd and they also agreed the drink wasn't correct and they fixed it for us. The drinks at this particular Starbucks are never consistent. On a positive note the barista that took our order was very friendly and helpful. read more

02/08/23 - This continues to be my favorite Starbucks. Baristas are friendly and my drinks are always tasty and correct. The amount of entitlement and rude people that they have to deal with is astounding. Please understand that the workers here are out there earning their wages and making your drinks. Don't be an entitled, rude ass, and be patient like the rest of us. I get it, we all have places to go to and time is important. Shout out to Veronica for not smiling, not being friendly, not yelling my drink out and wearing airpods during work. Everytime I go here I always encounter her and she's always attitude-dy. I hate to take time to even write this review of the Discovery Bay Starbucks. However after reaching out several times to the manager, Adrian, by phone with no response to two messages- I feel compelled. I took my teen daughter to Starbucks to place an order for two drinks on her birthday. I handed her my sticker from a previous drink order. My daughter came out with three drinks instead of two. My drink was not what I ordered. I got out of my car, went back into the store and wasn't greeted by a man working although her looked up at me carrying the drinks back into the store. It was one other guest so there was definitely a time for "Hi there! We will be right with you." So I waited patiently and a young lady emerged from the back after about a minute or two. Her apron said Angela and I explained the situation. She said the accidentally rang up a third drink and would return the money to my credit card. In regards to my drink not being made to order, Angela said it wasn't done as requested because the other Starbucks failed to charge me for the extra Salted Foam, even though it was stated on the order ticket. There was zero foam in the cup at all. I, as a guest, wasn't aware I was not charged for the extra foam- how would I ? Why would you not express that I wasn't charged and you would have to charge me, instead of executing a drink to order. Just charge me as the guest for what I requested. I had to ask Angela to please charge me for the foam so I can have what I actually ordered. There was not any kindness or friendliness in the entire experience which was baffling for me. Just weird stares from Angela and the male worker. He literally brought the blender to her at the cash register with a huge sigh, clearly irritated though we had zero verbal exchange during my visit. I called an hour later and spoke with Kayla requesting to speak with a manager. She was kind and took my information for Adrian. A week goes by, I called again and spoke to Bonnie. Super nice! Again took a message and stated she tell him. March 24th, when the incident occurred, until today April 4th- no return message about the horrible experience exemplified by Angela and her male co-worker. Simple zero F's given. Explains why the customer service sucks when leadership starts at the top. Literally on getting my drinks at Steeltown Coffee and Tea in Pittsburg or an out of town Starbucks. As one of the loyal customer I shouldn't have to waste my time to write this email, but I am very upset with the customer services that encounter today at around 9:15 am. I put in a mobile order for a pick up with a personal cup. the barista whom puts out the mobile order fail to acknowledge that I was there. I understand that the flow can be busy and so I just waited for her to continue what she is doing. I then notices that she was busy concentrating on her person conversation with another barista. So I went over and asked for my drink, she then gave me an attitude telling me that I just had to let her know. Why should that be my job!?!? She should have acknowledged me with a welcome "hi, welcome in", but no! Please check up on that store, have them change their attitude. I will be in there again. This comes after months of really poor service and rude attitudes I get in a regular basis. For some reason this location never makes the coffees the same as other locations. If I ask if they used the correct milk they say it is what I ordered with no opportunity to remake it. I've been drinking non fat for a long time I know when it's whole milk. I love the baristas at this Starbucks. I was not a regular here, but now I prefer this one over the Brentwood locations. Sydney was able to offer me options of drinks I may like that I had not yet tried. Now when I come in, Sydney knows exactly what to make me as soon as I walk in. Of course I see reviews about long waits for this Starbucks, BUT ITS STARBUCKS- of course you're going to have to wait some time and respect that you're not the only one ordering, and it is not the baristas fault when they are understaffed. read more

Drinks were poorly made and not filled. Iced coffee doesn't taste good and the chai was super watered down.

I understand that businesses have changed their hours due to COVID 19, but they usually clearly post the new hours, maybe have a big sign on the door or something. Not this location. There are a bunch of 8.5"x11" papers on the window that day things like "mask required, all day breakfast menu, 6 foot distancing, information about it how to distance, a flyer for a missing dog, and one letter that in it has info about the new hours. Man, if you think I want to read every single paper on your window, you're crazy. In the 15 min I waited for this location to open, I saw at least 10 people walk up, think they're closed and then just walk away. Just simply post ONE clear sign with new hours right in the middled of the door. Simple as that. You'll actually save yourself some business. What's even more annoying is that there are in fact people inside working, who literally just ignore you. They don't take a second to say "oh, we open at 7:30." Or something like that. They pretend you don't exist until you walk away frustrated. This is my local starbucks and I can honestly say they are the best. The crew always makes me feel welcome whenever I walk in, greeting me by my name, asking how I'm doing, and going above the casual small talk. They really do care about their customers and it shows! It can get pretty busy on weekends, but it makes sense since the nearest starbucks to Disco Bay is a good 15 mins away. They always communicate if there's a wait and are super gracious. read more

my boyfriend went to pick up my online order, i got two venti drinks he gets home. One of them is the smallest size I paid nearly 8 dollars for a Venti drink and I got a small. I had to drive back to the store, bringing the one that they made just to show them, they took it from me couldn't even like let me keep it for the inconvenience like I have worked in the food industry and I currently do and when stuff happens like that we let the customer keep it especially if they're being nice I'm not rude towards workers or anything like that because I'm in their shoes half the time as well and the lady just gave me straight attitude and took it from me. I stayed at a house for a retreat and needed coffee t w first morning so I got up and voyaged out to find myself a cup. There was a charming group of men outside that looked like they met every morning just like my home town coffee shop that's not a Starbucks and it felt like home. I chatted them up and proceeded in for a cup of regular coffee and cream and sugar which typically get a fancy one from Starbucks but it just sounded good and let me tell ya it hit the spot. Have been here some 15-20 times, as early as 5am or as late as 7pm, while visiting family in Disco Bay. I've always found the staff very cheerful, accommodating & friendly. The seating is ok, with two long tables, each can hold say 10 people. There are also 4 comfortable chairs. It's a great place to get away for an hour or two, enjoy a good cup of coffee & to plug in. read more

Terrible customer service. I ordered online thru the mobile App. They gave a time of 220pm to pick up the mobile. It's 245pm and still no order. Everyone who was in the coffee shop got their orders before me, and I still waited around. They finally asked me what my order was, and that's when they finally started working on my order. It hasn't been the first time, it's like they only pay attention to certain customers orders while the rest wait around. When the supervisor is here they actually do their job, when they are alone, it's like they do whatever they want. If, you do not want to work, and do not have the skills to do customer service I suggest you do not work at all then. I am am angry at the lack of customer service they had. This is by far the WORST store I've ever been too. This is the only Starbucks in discovery bay and I just recently moved here sooo being a Starbucks er decided to try it. First time got my drink in time but girls had a bit of an attitude but I brushed it off. People can have an off day. Second time coming here, moving day for me so decided to order Mobil and we were hungry do ordered 4 sandwiches and an ice coffee. We were about 10 mins late to pick up order but was fine since I wanted to make sure my order was made when I got there. NOPE!!! First off they reduced my sandwiches by one cuz they ran out some time between paying and picking up. This has never happened to me before and I still waited 30 mins for my stuff. Actually by that point I asked for my money back. I ended up in this cute coffee/ ice cream spot down the street. Third and LAST time, I tell u I'm a Starbucks er, went in ordered with cashier who was not the friendliest but decided to let it go and waited, and waited and waited. 20 mins later I got my drink. Went into this Starbucks & ordered my usual. (Trenta pink drink) I get my drink and get into my car, and I look at my drink and there is a long blackk hair INSIDE. Yes I have black hair but, how the heck would my hair get inside. Anyways, I go back in and tell the girl up front and she says "where is the hair." And rolls her eyes. Wish I could do zero stars. i Don't understand why they are so bad at this location. on Sunday afternoon I placed a mobile order. I showed up 10 min later and it wasn't ready. There was 2 girls working and it wasn't a busy day. a couple people came in after I had been waiting and ordered there and they received there orders way before me. They know my order the moment I walk in the door. They are friendly, fast, and my drinks are always very yummy. I love that this place is a hop, skip and a jump for me. They create an atmosphere which supports a very homey, small-town feel, which is part of the reason my husband and I wanted to move to Discovery Bay. We love this Starbucks! They also have lowfat cream cheese for our bagels, which I like. Not every Starbucks has this. Their new "skinny" mochas are amazing. YUM read more

I'm gonna be generous and give this place an extra star because they usually don't make my teas watered down compared to other places around here. But what I experienced today was def a one-star worthy experience. Maybe if the people behind the counters would get off their phones and pay attention to people ordering and everything they have to say, you guys would be more professional. My sister wanted to order something else, but the person ringing her up went straight to the total as her coworker was showing her a picture on her phone and was clearly distracted and clearly didn't care about my sister who was trying to order in front of her. I just moved here and have been frequenting this Starbucks for a few weeks. They are very slow with drink orders. They have a very steady and constant customer population, which with staffing and the physical size of the store, they are unable to accommodate orders efficiently. This likely due to this location being the only one in DB, physically small in size and located on Hwy 4; which is a thoroughfare and highly travelled during commute hours. The wait can sometimes be over 20 mins. to get your drink. Their staff is young and sometimes a little too busy with "having fun", rather then focusing on production. Starbucks needs to re-evaluate store size, staffing and pursue a second location in DB. Possibly on DB Blvd, to help with efficiency and overall physically accommodating customers in DB. read more
