The first time, I was deciding between two drinks and asked the cashier which one she recommended. I went with her suggestion, but after trying it, I realized I really didn't like the taste. I politely asked if I could switch to a different drink, but was told no because of the store's policy. While I understand that policies exist, I later called the customer service number listed on their social media to confirm that this was indeed their policy. Instead of addressing my question, the person I spoke with seemed more concerned about asking, "How did you get this phone number?" That interaction felt unprofessional and dismissive. My second visit wasn't much better. My friend and I walked in, and the cashier didn't greet us or acknowledge that she'd be with us shortly. She was making another drink, looked over at us, then looked away, and we waited about five minutes without any acknowledgment. When the customer she was helping came up to pick up their drink, she took the time to have a brief conversation with them while we continued waiting to order. When she finally came over, there was no apology for the wait or even a simple "Hi, how are you?"--just, "What can I get you?" The coffee may be good, but customer service plays a big role in the overall experience. Based on my two visits, I think there's a lot of room for improvement in how customers are welcomed and treated. Unfortunately, these interactions have made me hesitant to return.

In the corner of The Hen and Drake is a pianist playing some lovely tunes that set a very nice mood. The food presentation was impressive: We were given a small plate that held about two bites of salad. The bottom plate of the tray held finger sandwiches: egg salad and cucumber with cream cheese. The croissant sandwich had a thin slice of apple and sliced ham and cheese. The middle plate had freshly baked scones served with passion fruit curd. They were delicious and had a slight crunch on the edges of the scone as you bit into it. The top plate held desserts : individual fruit tart , french macarons( not made inhouse), and a lavender infused dessert with a creamy center. Every dessert was a "delight" to eat! Everyone who came with us to have tea, was impressed with The Hen and Drake and would definitely come back here. We were here to celebrate a birthday and to the birthday girl's delight, she was given a tiny cute ceramic duck container filled with a bit of custard to eat. I got an Iced Ube Latte & it did not stand a chance against me. I fell in love at the first sip. It wasn't overpowering with sweetness, just right, however, the Ube flavor was definitely present! And the Ube tasted REAL, not the artificial stuff (not sure if it was artificial or not, and if it was artificially flavored, they did amazing). I can't wait to be back to try their pastries/sweets. Unfortunately I came near to closing, so of course they were out of pastries -- my fault.

I thought it was a mobile order issue, but last weekend I ordered in person and my drink was made into a coffee latte instead of matcha. And unfortunately today, I ordered a $10 matcha and got an iced latte one again that my brother didn't catch to remake because he didn't check my receipt. I really hate having to wait to get my order remade and having an extra drink that's not needed and most of the time goes to waste. All I ask is to make the drink correctly for how it was ordered because I'm sure it causes stress for the folks that are having to remake the drinks when they have other orders to also work on, as well as the customers who pay for one thing and end up with something else.
