Being inside of Callahans is a pleasant experience; it has cute decorations and usually attentive staff. However, can sometimes be understaffed. Now, the quality ice cream is GREAT, it always tastes amazing. The thing with Callahans is the flavors are different every week, with the exception of chocolate and vanilla. The only complaint I have is that the flavors recently have been more and more obscure. Sometimes I just want a tried classic, like mint chip or rocky road. Maybe I just happen to have bad luck with my favorite flavors on the week I come. Nonetheless, I LOVE their toasted marshmallow ice cream and circus animal ice cream. I always enjoy coming here!

I love the size options. I was full from lunch, so i was able to get a shortie scoop of the coffee ice cream on a wafer cone, it was smooth, creamy and had a great coffee flavor. Others in our party had butter pecan on a wafer cone, strawberry in a cup, cookies & cream in a wafer cone. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream. Prices are great! Service was good, but the guy should smile more. Love the fun wall art! And it was clean, didn't look dusty. Come and support this small business!

While we were in Discovery Bay, we stumbled upon a charming coffee shop in a quiet plaza that had lots of parking and cozy indoor seating. The place was decked out with colorful quotes and cool art, and the lady at the front was super welcoming. It's a small charming local spot. I grabbed their house-roasted drip coffee while my son enjoyed a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. A nice pit stop.

This cute pic is just one of many cute art pieces they've decorated with

Callahan's has incredibly kind people and delicious ice creams. I tried a Blue Moon ice cream in a shake, loved it! . They also have coffee, lattes, etc but I haven't cared for those, I believe due to ingredients used.

We tried the salmon with a creamy caper sauce and the steak with grilled onions, both served with fresh vegetables. The salmon was nicely cooked and flavorful, and the steak had a great char and was tender. The cheesy potato side was definitely comfort food, creamy, rich, and probably my favorite side of the meal. Everything tasted fresh and filling, and we left satisfied. Overall, a solid dining experience with good food and generous portions. There were a few small things that kept it from being a full 5 stars, like the cleanliness of the outdoor area, the menus and table was sticky, and a few bug zappers for flies), but I'd definitely come back and try more of the menu.

The top three things that were bad about this restaurant: 1…read more I ate (scratch that as they never brought me my food). I mean, I went to this restaurant with a large party and they never brought me my food. Hence, no pictures to share. The waitress came out to ask if everything was okay (after everyone was just about done), looked right at me and asked if anyone else needed anything. Of course, I said "my food please". The staff never noticed they didn't complete the order. There was no attempt by the staff, or the manager, to check on my food. They literally just admitted they forgot it and had a very "oh well" attitude. My expectation would have been that they saw how large our bill was (a large party with many alcoholic beverages consumed) and they would have done something to expedite my order. Nada. 2. They kept bringing out dishes and drinks that no one ordered, and I GUARANTEE that they snuck these on the bill whether or not the staff left them at our table. For example, they brought at least one drink no one ordered, and they brought chips and salsa that no one ordered. Additionally, they brought a burger, that no one ordered and no one claimed, so they took it back, probably threw it out, but I GUARANTEE they snuck it on the bill. This to me seems very unethical, but I guess the manager told them what to do to keep the doors open. Watch out for this if you are with a large party. 3. We had a large party and ordered lots of food and drinks, and I know the people that I'm with are big tippers so the staff was very well compensated despite carrying out a less than an average job. It's a very unfortunate situation for me as I suffered and they profited due to high tips and bringing out extra food that no one ordered. Also, it's hard for me to have sympathy as I saw that they were NOT using paper and pencil to take orders, rather, they had digital handheld POS systems and I witnessed the waitress type in my order (specifically). That order should have gone directly to the kitchen, and I'm sure the POS system put it on the bill and it wasn't removed. Alas, I did not see the bill, so I will never have confirmation. Finally, I asked them if they took my meal off the bill, and they said they did, but because of the above mistakes, I highly doubt they deducted my meal and they extorted an additional $25 out of my group.

My 9th Visit to Orwood and Still My Favorite Breakfast Spot!…read more This is my 9th time visiting Orwood, and it never disappoints! It's my favorite breakfast place and my go-to spot whenever I want to bring my family visiting from out of state or another country. I love sharing this beautiful experience with them! The pancakes are my absolute favorite, and the fresh coffee is the perfect way to start the day. Every breakfast option is phenomenal, and the food never disappoints. The service is wonderful, and the lake view makes the entire experience even more special. Great food, amazing service, and a beautiful view what more could you ask for? Orwood has become a family favorite, and I'll definitely keep coming back again and again! Highly recommended!

Delta Dining with a Front-Row Seat to the Action. Some restaurants lean heavily on their kitchens…read more Others rely on their scenery. This Delta mainstay attempts, and often succeeds, to balance both. A short drive from the city delivers you to this laidback waterfront outpost, where the real show unfolds just beyond the patio: a steady procession of boaters launching, docking, and lingering over the day's boating stories all around you. It's an unpolished but undeniably charming backdrop, best enjoyed with a cold craft beer in hand and nowhere urgent to be. The menu casts a wide variety of burgers, seafood, barbecue, designed more for broad appeal than culinary ambition. Still, it largely delivers on its promise of satisfying comfort fare. Service, however, is where the restaurant consistently distinguishes itself. Staff members are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, a level of hospitality that feels increasingly uncommon and worth noting. On this visit, I returned to a familiar favorite: the cheeseburger, paired, at our server's suggestion, with tater tots. Around the table, fish and chips and pulled pork sliders completed the spread. The cheeseburger, Juicy and cooked with precision, it carries a distinct flame-grilled character that signals real attention to technique. The toppings are fresh, the bun properly toasted, and the overall construction strikes a satisfying balance between indulgent and controlled. It's a burger that delivers exactly what it promises, and does so consistently. Having previously paired it with excellent onion rings, it remains a dish I'd order without hesitation. The tater tots, however, were a notable misstep. A great tot should offer contrast, crisp exterior giving way to a light, airy interior. These lacked that essential textural payoff. Soft and underwhelming, they suggested oil past its prime and a lapse in execution. After sampling a few, I left the rest behind. It was a surprising inconsistency, particularly given stronger past experiences. Fortunately, the pulled pork sliders recalibrated the meal. Three well-proportioned sandwiches showcased tender, smoky pork layered onto soft buns with a restrained hand on the sauce. The balance was thoughtful, allowing the meat to remain the focal point. Each bite was cohesive and satisfying, making them one of the afternoon's clear highlights. The fish and chips were fresh and not over battered, well-flavored, but just a little heavy, that defines the dish at its best when lightly crispy, in my opinion. For this visit, I award 3 out of 5 stars. Not for lack of potential, the kitchen clearly has it, but for inconsistency. Strong dishes sit alongside underwhelming ones, and that variability prevents the restaurant from reaching its full potential. Having experienced better execution here before, particularly with fried items, it's evident that higher standards are within reach. Still, three stars should not deter a visit. This remains one of the Delta's most appealing gathering spots. The waterfront setting, approachable pricing, generous portions, and engaging atmosphere create an experience that extends beyond the plate. It's a place where time stretches, conversations deepen, and the rhythm of the water sets the pace. I'll return, for something new on the menu, the view, and with the hope that the kitchen rediscovers the consistency needed to match its undeniable strengths.

We came on a "Taco Tuesday" which also happened to be karaoke night. It was reasonably busy (7-10 tables seated, with at least one being a larger party of around 8 people) but there were at least 3 servers that we saw, along with 2 bartenders. Once we were seated, our server came and took the drink order. The drinks came quickly and she asked if we needed more time to review the menu, we said yes. At that point, we were left there for 20 minutes with no follow up to take our food order. We saw our server and the others bring single plates of food back and forth several times to other tables. 2 servers (one of which was ours) walked right by our table which still had menus to indicate hadn't ordered, but didn't acknowledge us. We then saw our server stand in the doorway between indoor/outdoor seating and survey the dining area for a minute. Still, she didn't come back to our table and walked back inside. We got tired of waiting and went to the bar to pay for the drinks we received. While paying/explaining to the bartender why we were leaving, our server came up and asked if we were ready to order as if there were no issue. We explained we were leaving after waiting for so long, which she blankly apologized for and quickly walked away. The place is cool and I can see why it's popular, but it seems hit or miss when it comes to service and organization.

There is a $12 meal that comes with a smash burger and plain fry combo which I feel is a pretty smashing deal :) They serve Alameda soda and have a really cool beer/wine/cocktail menu. I had to try the Brentwood Corn Fest cocktail that comes with vodka, lemon, creamed corn puree, jalapeño, and an elote rim. It was spectacular, and I didn't mind paying $14 for such a fresh, well-crafted, innovative drink. You get a buzzer after you order, and honestly the drink/food came out pretty fast! Very turnkey ordering process. Delicious way to spend a weekend afternoon. Seems like such an awesome community hang spot. Would love to try their Pickle Spritz next time (gin, pickle juice, dill, soda water)! I noticed Liberty Faculty students receive 10% off which I think is so cool. The place looks really nice now--such a pleasant spot to sit, enjoy your treats, and relax, especially with kids. The ice cream is always delicious, and we absolutely love their affogato. I was also amazed that they go by cups--we got a lot for the large cups, which felt like great value! I did want to share a small piece of feedback about our recent visit. In the past, water was available in small jars, but now it's set up in a larger dispenser. After ordering ice cream, we went to grab some water, but it had run out. I let the staff member in front know, and she kindly explained that they were out, which I completely understood. However, another staff member suddenly commented that there was no water and that if I wanted some, I should buy and pay for it. It was a bit surprising--not because of the policy, but because of the tone, which came across as a bit harsh. Maybe she was just having a bad day, which I can understand, but the delivery didn't feel very welcoming. I want to emphasize that I have no issue paying for water at all; in fact, I planned to go back to the car after ice cream to get water since we parked nearby. It was just the way it was said that didn't sit well. I didn't say anything at the moment since I understand everyone can have off days, but I do think consistency in how customers are spoken to is important--others might not take that tone as lightly. When I sat down, another staff member came over and offered my family water. If you happen to read this--thank you. Your kindness really meant a lot to us. Overall, we still enjoy coming here for the great ice cream, generous portions, and the cozy atmosphere.
