What a special place. FINALLY was able to try this spot while we were rolling through this area over the weekend. Such a cute neighborhood hang with a park across the street, ice cream and beer locales next door, and street parking to enjoy it all. With the big soccer game playing, we were happy to grab a table in the outdoor patio to enjoy some sunshine and safety in an enclosed area for the kiddo, but also watch some of the game for lunch. Love that they have corn hole and toys for the kiddos out. The menu is pretty straight forward, and on weekends they have brunch specials too. But, we figured we had to try the smash burgers! They have a kiddo menu which is so cute (see photo) and offer smash burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, fries (steak frites and "filthy" fries with cheese, sauce, caramelized onions, pepperonis, chives), salads, and bowls. I love that you can do a Sando as a salad/bowl. I went with the Yard Bowl that comes with brown rice and veggies, topped with fried chicken. It was SO good. Hearty, great quality, and really just an overall stellar meal. We also grabbed smash burgers and the "Filthy Fries". There is a $12 meal that comes with a smash burger and plain fry combo which I feel is a pretty smashing deal :) They serve Alameda soda and have a really cool beer/wine/cocktail menu. I had to try the Brentwood Corn Fest cocktail that comes with vodka, lemon, creamed corn puree, jalapeño, and an elote rim. It was spectacular, and I didn't mind paying $14 for such a fresh, well-crafted, innovative drink. You get a buzzer after you order, and honestly the drink/food came out pretty fast! Very turnkey ordering process. Delicious way to spend a weekend afternoon. Seems like such an awesome community hang spot. Dropped by here today as I've been wanting to try it out. We loved the vibe and outdoor area and I was excited to finally come here. I ordered steak frites and was pretty underwhelmed- for $20 i honestly (and my family thought the same) that it would be bigger than it was. But I didn't mind it as much. We have been avoiding this place due to the amount of children that are allowed to just freely run around the restaurant. Yesterday, we decided to give it a try. We were lucky that we got a table quickly and it was near the center bar seating area. The majority of us ordered the burger and fries combo. I ordered their root beer old fashioned and my friend ordered the pepperoncini margarita. The place is small where you order your food and it's quick service. Nobody waits on you. You also have to bus your own tables. The burgers were okay, the fries were really good. My old fashioned was good, but not $14 dollars good. My friends margarita tasted like straight up pepper juice. Wasn't for me. It would have been better if it had a hint of the peppers. My other friend got the chicken sandwich and she said it was good. It's bigger than their hamburgers. Overall, I don't think I would go back. The cocktails are expensive and there is just too many children that just run everywhere. I thought I would enjoy the Filthy Fries as it reminded me of In-N-Out's animal fries just from the look. I didn't enjoy the taste of the Attra secret sauce with American cheese. I'd skip trying it if it's your first time going. Their regular crinkle cut fries are much better (you can ask for their secret sauce on the side). I absolutely loved the chicken sando--a perfect blend of sweetness, very mild heat from the honey, tanginess, & umami. Girls night out at this new location. I must say they met their examples in concept art but it really turned out to be a lot of wasted seating space. The outer locations of the "yard" are surrounded with wood, three sided seating. One small table per seating section. The area is so large they could have split each one and had more of an intimate seating for groups with the table being more comfortable and inviting. When they went for yard, that is pretty much what you get. It felt more of a daycare than a real family environment. Great you can bring your kids, but it's not a daycare and people shouldn't be asking your kids to not throw a normal size football over your head or into your seating area. Or having to watch your step for small toys strung all out on the ground. The staff? Absolutely amazing. Most of them are younger and I must say they hired great people. Food.. We ordered a smash-burger and fries. We asked if we could spilt the burger and the order taker offered to have it cut in half. This was a fail as the burger came out cut 1/4 down the middle. Fail on the food preparer. lol Fries were great, just your average crinkle cut French fry but fried well. We each tried the "Class of 06" Couldn't really taste the alcohol, and it was just ok. I had been hopeful that this place would be a hit but they have to get so many things under control for customers to return. Well we could not resist and went to The Yard again - this time to try out their cocktails and Chicken Sando. And we were not disappointed ! The Pepperoncini Margarita hit the mark with its sharp sting in the first sip after which the Bianco Tequila comes behind it soothing and numbing you! I loved it. The Class of '06 was hibiscus infused vodka with lemonade was so refreshing and perfect for the hot summer evening! Better half was happy ! The Chicken Sando was humongous in size with a perfectly fried chicken between the potato buns along with lots of pickled cucumbers and their secret sauce, The only negative we could find in this was that potato bun did not hold up and broke and shredded as we dug into the Sando, But we can attest, it did not take away anything from its taste ! The star of this place - The liberty Smash burger was so good and well prepared , we wolfed it down in just a few bites. Perfectly cooked and smashed patty and perfect bun to meat ratio, we will dream of this tonight! And then the Attra sauce took it to the next level! Even the regular fries here are amazing - fresh crispy to a crunch in each nibble and so very lightly salted they can hold their own against the star dishes here! And if you get the Attra sauce and cheese over them as in the Filthy Fries, they become the most sought after and tasty version of Fries we have ever come to love ! Took my mom here for her birthday dinner before a movie and well although she enjoyed it I felt like I spent money on burnt crisp, first off I don't know if it's just a Brentwood thing but the off brand sodas they have to go it's not very good tasting.
