Small but cozy and decorated with kitschy and cute decor, this coffee house/cafe offers coffee, tea, matcha, boba drinks, smoothies and fresh juices. They also have breakfast goodies and other items like muffins, burritos and frittatas. Everything is fresh and served quick. You can sit inside or there are also some outside benches overlooking the lake in the back. I was able to order a sugar-free blended mocha with sugar-free whipped cream. Ahem, REAL whipped cream. Yes it was fantastic and a great price as well. They have a huge variety of flavored syrups and options, protein bases and vegan milks and can create drinks on par with a certain windmill chain...ONLY better! Shoutout and thank you to the wonderful staff and especially to the sweetest barista ever, who helped me customize my drink to fit my dietary needs. The service was excellent - kind and they brought out our drinks to us as well. We had such a good time here we came back the next day! They had some food options available but we only were in the mood for drinks at the time. I got a: Smoothie (mango + blueberry) with apple juice and yogurt, with whipped cream on top. The overwhelming flavor was the apple juice, but the smoothie was still refreshing and cheap. No complaints. This coffee shop also borders the lake so we sat for awhile inside, but then took our drinks out to overlook the water. It was so beautiful.

Castle Donuts has easily earned a spot among our all-time favorite donut shops. Are they decorated like some over-the-top social media donuts? Not necessarily. But honestly, who cares when they taste this good? Everything was fresh, soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The cinnamon rolls, bear claws, and apple fritters are HUGE! And the apple fritter? The smell alone had us hooked, and somehow it tasted even better than it smelled. I'd much rather have a donut that's simple on the outside and absolutely incredible on the inside than one that's picture-perfect but tastes like air. Castle Donuts gets it right where it matters most: flavor. If you're anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in. You'll understand the hype after the first bite. We loved every single thing we tried and will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Mind you that I have never in my entire life ever left a restaurant without paying. I'm no teenager so definitely can pay what I owe. And in fact, in the last few visits, have generously tipped the old mill staff at minimum 20-25%. When I chose to give them $100 to cover the bill they accused me of not paying the last time...they at first refused then proceeded to tell me the truth...that the machine they were using the night I was accused of not paying was not working and they had encountered multiple problems with different patrons that night...and many other payments had not gone through. In fact, they said after that they were forced to replace the entire system. So I ask, if you knew it was your system...why would you then accuse a patron of purposely not paying the bill. I stayed to eat. I even tipped extra. But after I left, I realized the situation put a distaste in my mouth. Hopefully the server and mgmt learn not to blame a Patti for their bad machine/system. That was in poor taste. That approach made the food tasted mediocre after that. Next time I'll think twice before I choose to come again.
