I don't get the negative reviews. This is Starbucks, and as a Starbucks, I think this place is great. I get the same thing every time, an Americano and the egg white and red pepper sous vide egg bites. I order on my app and when I walk in, my order is waiting for me. I love it. The baristas are all very nice and the location is convenient, right next to Whole Foods and across the street from Fresh Pond. I'm very happy with this place and when I get tired of paying for $7 lattes up the street, this is where I go. read more

This Starbucks location makes some okay lattes to be honest. Ive ordered lattes from them on a few occasions and they've all tasted off. Their Iced Americanos or Plain Cold Brews are perfectly fine though. We normally look forward to getting Iced Sugar Cookie Lattes every holiday season, but this one was terrible. It tasted more like a burnt cookie than a yummy sugar cookie. One bad latte aside, there were some pros though! Firstly, their Snowman Cookie and Polar Bear Cake Pop were really cute & delicious. Also this year's red ribbon holiday cups & packaging are so pretty! This store also has study tables & free wifi so it's nice to get work done here. The baristas seem pleasant as well. read more

Am puzzled at all the low reviews of this place. I love it! But then my needs are very simple: all I order at any Starbucks is a large hot green tea, not some overcomplicated sugar-bomb of a dessert-pretending-to-be-"coffee" drink, and it's physically impossible to screw up putting hot water into a paper cup with two teabags, lol. Yeah, a bit overpriced at $4 but I think of it as a loitering-and-leeching-off-their-wifi charge. :) PS. The wifi is actually of a decent, usable speed btw. I also am not dumb enough to ever buy any of their similarly overpriced carb-bomb food items, so guess I have nothing to complain about. Well, maybe just one: wish they didn't play that annoyingly bouncy cafe music which is perhaps intended to discourage customers from spending all day here unless you had the foresight to bring your own ear buds (I forgot mine, alas) to drown that crap out. And they don't have any high tables that could be used as standing desks, for folks like me who dislike sitting for long periods...might need to bring a folding box to jerry rig a standing desk next time, lol. Anyway, the main reason I like this place is that it's beautifully airy and spacious inside, with a nice view of Alewife Brook Parkway. It shares the building with the Freepoint Hotel, which means you go through a door to use the hotel's bathrooms which are much more spacious and nicer than the average Starbucks restroom (those are usually single-occupancy and unventilated meaning if someone poops before you, prepare to suffer). The hotel also has a huge spacious and equally pleasant lounge area, so if you should ever come to this cafe during peak hours you can probably sit there. Added bonus: some not-bad people watching of the hotel guests coming in and out, some of whom are international females of the comely persuasion. As for the service folks, they were perfectly prompt and friendly with me, so I also disagree with the negative reviewers on that count. Anyway, I'll definitely be coming back here! Ample parking is one of the big advantages. Wish they were open later than 8pm, but oh well such is life in the post-pandemic age. read more

I think that the low reviews are a little unfair. Every time I've gotten a drink here it has been good- my friend likes the chai, and I've enjoyed their sweet espresso drinks with alternative milks and their new clover French press style coffee. The people who work here are very friendly too. They seem to keep up with all the new seasonal drinks, I've never encountered tech problems with them giving me points, and they have a good selection of cups and coffees. I would do take out rather than stay there though, as this is not a space with ambiance, it's more of a to-go space. It is a heavily trafficked spot, so you're better off taking your drink to go and being on your way. read more

April 7 2025 Indian barista was rude and said they don't offer "light ice" option anymore for the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso drink. Umm what? I was here yesterday and ordered it. Something was off with my Starbucks order from this particular location. I usually get the same order every Starbucks I go. It's pretty simple, an iced coffee, with a few additions here and there (e.g. splash of cream, skim milk, sugar-free Vanilla etc). However, I felt the quality of coffee here was seriously off. Also, the bathrooms are shared with the hotel that this Starbucks is in and the sinks and soap dispensers BARELY work so do NOT go. However, it is a nice and spacious area if you want to sit and do work, really cozy vibes. read more

Surprisingly slow for a Starbucks, always a little bit of a mess. I did a mobile order today. After heading to the location, I waited 15 minutes (25+ minutes since ordering). They were clearly busy and understaffed so I felt bad interrupting to see what was happening with my order. That's when they gathered the parts that were ready (coffee full of melted ice and a dry scone) and said they might not be able to make the sandwiches because they didn't have ingredients. I had to ask them for a refund for the sandwiches because I was in a hurry and hungry. They walked away without saying anything or confirming the refund. Now we're on the customer support chat waiting for an agent to be available while the chat window keeps timing out and closing to get our money back. read more

This is an oddly busy location. It seems sort of tucked out of the way and not easily visible from the street but I guess the secret is out as plenty of people (myself included) know where it is. There is plenty of parking as it shares the building with a hotel. If things get too busy there is additional seating in the hotel. For the longest time they were out of sleeves for the cups. Not safe under COVID. I have enjoyed this store many times before COVID. I stopped by on my way home today. It is a pretty small place. A couple was enjoying a cup of coffee totally unmasked. I don't know or really care what the regulations are. It is not safe to be sharing air with strangers inside. Starbucks is not providing a safe environment for its customers. Not sure I will be back. Worst Starbucks outlet ever! Everytime I go to this outlet, they screw up my order. This is the third time this has happened which has led me to write this review. First of your reward scanner machine is not working , second of you take the order and you completely forget about it. Thirdly when you are asked about it, you reply back saying it is on the way. It is my morning ritual for a coffee to go. Very friendly staff, quick service and a buzzing place. Always clean and happy. It is connected to a hotel; it is almost always very busy, so finding a table to sit and relax can be a challenge. Parking can also be a problem. I eat and drink at Starbucks everywhere. This is one of my favorites. I have never had one of the aforementioned "rude" baristas. I've always found them to be beyond cheerful and efficient. They often remember that I like soy milk and have it waiting for me at the bar even though I come through only a couple times a week. There are usual plenty of seats to choose from and if they are full I have gone into the hotel to work with no issue. Keep up the good work Starbucks Cambridge. You guys rock. read more

Update: The current staff & mgmt at this location is AMAZING!!! They remember you, they really listen, they don't judge when you order a froofie drink or are watching your pennies. And, they really really really know their products -- which can't be said of all the local locations. It's also really clean here. The construction going on in the parking lot & hotel has been a little annoying at times, but, hey, life's an adventure. You just want this crew on your side. This location used to be horrible, but it's great now. And only one staffmember smokes, from what I can see (and it's a he). Old review: When you need a Starbucks fix, fine... Usually you can count on a certain consistency in what you get. However, not always. Friendly staff - not here always. This has become our somewhat regular Saturday morning Starbucks--it's conveniently located next to Whole Foods and across the street from Trader Joe's, so it fits in beautifully with our grocery shop. Overall, it's about middle of the road, as Starbucks's go. The baristas are usually relatively efficient--as you'd imagine on Saturday morning, there can be a line, but it moves. I've also never had my drink made incorrectly, other than being presented with the occasional whipped cream on top which I declined when ordering (honestly, no big deal). That being said, I tend to stick pretty much with what's on the menu, so my orders might be easier to keep track of than some of the other requested concoctions. The baristas aren't necessarily the friendliest bunch, but they're by no means unfriendly. My only complaint about service would be that this Starbucks seems to run out of ingredients more than others I've been to (particularly chai). Of course, I've no "scientific" way of proving this, so it's entirely possible that Saturday morning tends to be when they start running low on stuff or that other Starbucks's run out of ingredients more than I think they do... I don't love the interior of this particular Starbucks all that much. On the plus side, it's kept pretty clean and neat and the music choices are usually well made. Finding a seat at prime coffee hour can be difficult--a lot of people get their coffee and camp out for awhile. We usually end up having to sit at one of the tables next to the pick-up bar, which aren't ideal: the space between the tables and the bar is narrow, so you end up with a group of caffeine-deprived people awaiting their beverages standing over your table. Add in the fact that the windows next to these tables are kept covered by screens all day to keep down the temperature and glare in the room, and they can feel a bit claustrophobic at times. Conclusion: if there's one available, try to grab a table in the more open part of the room, or plan on grabbing your coffee and going. read more

While shopping this past weekend, I stopped in to get a quick coffee drink and was told I couldn't use a $100 bill I had on me. I was told it was for the "safety of the employees," which doesn't make any sense. First off, there's no policy statement posted that bills over a certain denomination aren't accepted. Second, there's no logic to her statement - I'm paying with a $100 bill and getting change, so there's still the same amount of money in the drawer (plus my $4.60 for the coffee) when all is said and done; it's just in different denominations. If they're worried about counterfeit bills, there are ways to check them to ensure their authenticity. Overall, this store is not customer-friendly and it also took an inordinately long amount of time to get a simple mocha, even though there were only 2 people in line ahead of me. I got the impression that my order was purposely delayed because I argued with the manager about my payment method. I certainly won't be returning to this store and I've been telling everyone at the nearby dog park to avoid the store as well. Pass the word! read more

In general, I like this Starbucks more than most. I noticed a few bad reviews - don't know if it's because I only come in the afternoon or evening, but I've almost always had a good experience here. The baristas are usually really friendly and make the drinks correctly. I've been here dozens of times and they only made my drink poorly once (it tasted watery for some reason). I only occasionally have trouble finding a seat, and at worst I've always been able to sit at the "bar" area that's right by where they make the drinks. It can be a little noisy over there, but it's fine. They have power outlets everywhere, which I really appreciate. This location does have shorter hours than most, I think because of the affiliation with the hotel. read more

I really don't like Starbuckses very much. When they finally switch over to free Wi-Fi (suppposed to be in a few months), that'll help. This particular Starbucks is located right off of a rotary at Fresh Pond in Cambridge. The store is connected to the Best Western Hotel Tria (which inexplicably calls itself a boutique hotel?), and you have to go in there for the bathrooms. The service was reasonably snappy, but I got a slice of lemon loaf this afternoon, and it was stale and no good. They are still using the T-Mobile pay-for-Internet access, but you can jump onto the hotel's Wi-Fi for free (like I am right now). The store is comfortable, with some easy chairs as well as a few small tables. The section with wood flooring and an area rug is cozy. They pump the music at a medium volume throughout the store, if you like that kind of thing. It's usually busy, though not bustling. Just another Starbuck$. read more

got a nasty manager woman with dark hair - loud and obnoxious - does not know how to manage. you see her outside sucking down a cancer stick so she stinks up the place when she returns inside. i heard her threaten to tow a woman if she did not move her car, which was just outside and absolutely not blocking anyone, not in a tow area, and not in any no-parking zone; she was just running in to get her coffee while a friend sat in the car waiting. bet she never came back. i guess the manager tries to drive people away; fewer people mean less work for her. note the light with the bulb out over the bar area - it's been out for 6 months at least. starbucks is certainly going downhill these days. the area manager must be totally clueless - they hire these losers and have no idea how their stores are run. then there is the $30/month for wireless; who really needs starbucks anyway? i've cut them out of my life and save $30/month wireless plus $6.50 per weekday = $160 a month. pays for my home dsl, hardline phone, cable tv, and cell phone! read more

This branch (at least) was very unorganized and missed multiple customers drinks. Their delivery counter was covered in water and the workers didn't clean it while placing food and drink orders on the watery counters, making many of the food orders wet and the bags soggy. read more

Horrible, horrible customer service. The staff are rude and generally have bad attitudes. I once asked a woman (late 30's, early 40's) who worked there about different varieties of roast and how they might impact bitterness and she scoffed at me and basically implied I was ignorant to ask the question. I hate to remind her, I'm not the one working at Starbucks at 8 am in the morning! That particular woman is consistently rude, at least to me! The rest of the staff are not very much better. I've been coming to this Starbucks for the past three years with my son, and we both really like it. We're made to feel at home there and the staff took the time to get to know us, our order, and even in depth conversations with my son. If you have any problem at all the staff will fix it, with the manager going above and beyond to listen to any issues you have. About half the staff will give you a song, on request (you know who you are). A few unfair reviews seem to have the mentality like this is a drive through and they have zero patience. These grumpy people shouldn't be reviewing, and probably shouldn't be having any caffeine in the first place. Go to dunkin. The location is conveniently close to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, and the parking isn't that bad. If you want a friendly place with a relaxed vibe come here. It's a happy place. read more

This Starbucks is the greatest Starbucks I have ever been too. The staff is the best. The manager is sweet and attentive and goes above and beyond to meet the customer's needs. Because the staff is so supportive and amazing and practically made out of fairy and unicorn dust, new baristas train there, so it could be a little slow. BUT, every drink is made with love and care and tastes so darn delicious. Anyone dissing this Starbucks is a grump. Every time I go the staff is welcoming and creates a relaxed and carefree environment. They also have a clover machine that serves the most delicious reserve coffee. Why go to Harvard square? I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience here twice - in the same day. In the morning, I asked the barista Zaina for a small straw (there were only large ones). She replied: "I would have put large ones out if we had any" and walked away. I have never been treated like this, even at Dunkin Donuts, where I might expect it. Stupidly, I returned in the afternoon for a $0.50 refill. Zaina was still there and told me I had to physically be in the coffee shop for 1 hour to quality for the refill. Needless to say, I asked to speak with her manager (who wasn't there) and left promptly. I have not had such a horrible experience at any retail outlet & I certainly did not expect it from a place where I pay a premium for "better" service. Buyers Beware!!! I had mistakenly asked for the wrong sandwich and when I asked what I ordered to realize it was my mistake the woman so kind offered me to keep the mistaken sandwich and made me a knew one without any hesitation. This Starbucks in conveniently located near my office in Fresh Pond. It is generally a nice place with nice, polite staff. I've seen other comments about rude staff, but I've fortunately never encountered that here. They could almost be a four star were in not for one thing; they seem a bit inefficient in processing orders. This morning I went in and got a relatively simple Cafe Mocha and a slice of coffee cake. It took over five minutes to get; granted, that doesn't seem like a long time, but when you realize that it really only takes about a minute to a minute-and-a-half to make, it is a long time, espcially when you have to get back to work. The problem seems to be that they have three, and at times four, people taking orders, but only one Barista making them. Finally, a second person started to help, but by then the line was about five people long and I could see the orders starting to back up even more. Overall a nice place, decent location. They just need a little work on their efficiencies. read more
