Tall, Hot Raspberry White Mocha (One less pump of each syrup)

Where to begin...let's just say I take pride in the fact that I'm able to change my name in the Starbucks app. I can be whoever I want to be (Shout out to Roger & Hammerstein's Cinderella. IYKYK). So far, I've been Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice. This location matched that energy and would always write on my cup little notes about the Jane Austen classic. With Raspberry returning (one of my favorite classic Starbucks syrups), a friend convinced me to change my name in the app again. This time? We went with the regal "Spazberry for Raspberry". Had a certain "Je ne sais quoi". THIS STARBUCKS UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT. Aela and Margo on Day 1, played along and made me feel special upon sliding my drink on to the hand-off plane. But on Day 2!? They welcomed me with a "Welcome Spazberry" and took it the extra mile. Might I add they made delicious drinks on top of it?! This Starbucks (Store #8837) has consistently gone the extra mile. I remember Starbucks BEFORE the drive-thrus (and wish they'd get back to more of that), where being in the cafe was about that "Third Place" experience, and baristas had enough time and staff to be able to connect and interact with their customers on a deeper level. Shout out to Aela, Margo, Blue, Micah, and Leona. Wonderful baristas. I highly recommend you stop in the store and spend some time experiencing the community and atmosphere. I know drive-thru is convenient. But slowing down, being present, and having fun with this local Starbucks, MAY just be what your week, month, year, needs. And hey, try out a new name in the app. It's the little things. And having "Aladdin" or "Nemo" or "Neo" called out, could bring the smile you've been missing.

Bravissima Jessie!! You are a goddess who shines and this "bone dry" doppio macchiato feels as light as light divine such as you radiate. Grazie sempre.

Today was the day (officially) that the new Kiwi Starfruit refresher dropped. My daughter and I, being HUGE Harry Styles fans...rolled up to the drive thru blasting his song "Kiwi" and ordered these drinks. A very pleasant voice from the speaker box said they did in fact offer this drink now! Yesss! So exciting! I'm gunna pay for this! The young lady at the window, with strawberry blonde hair, was super sweet and spoke with us about the flavors in this new drink. She told us it tastes a little bit more like a green apple Jolly Rancher. My favorite one! So this of course, made me happy. These drinks were awesome. A little tart. Very cool and refreshing. I'm kinda into it! We continued on to park in the parking lot and filmed a video for TikTok, with our Kiwi drinks.

I asked very nicely for a pink drink that cost 6 bucks with very little ice. The order slip even reads "light ice" Very disappointed with my cup 2/3 full of freaking ICE. Not to mention the 15 minute drive thru wait time.

Luckily, there were only about five people ahead of us, and the line moved quickly. The person taking our order immediately made us feel welcome. Even with a busy morning crowd, they took their time with everyone and treated each customer like they were the only one there. That kind of genuine friendliness is something you don't forget. The atmosphere is unlike any coffee shop I've been to. Every wall has something different to look at, quirky artwork, funny signs, vintage pieces, random collectibles, a mannequin dressed in sunglasses and boots, even a life-size Tom Cruise hanging out on the patio. I found myself constantly looking around because there was something interesting in every direction. One of my favorite touches was the self-serve coffee station. You grab a mug from the wall instead of a paper cup. I picked one with a cool Abraham Lincoln wearing a backwards baseball cap while sipping coffee, which perfectly matched the café's fun personality. There were several coffee choices, and I ended up trying two. Refills are available for a small fee. For breakfast, I ordered one of their brioche breakfast sandwiches with the meat of the day, which was brisket. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the soft brioche bun. I also ordered a toasted jalapeño bagel with jalapeño shmear. It comes sprinkled with Tajín but got mine on the side. While I usually enjoy Tajín, it was just a little much for me first thing in the morning, so next time I'd ask for it without. The jalapeño shmear itself was delicious. After eating, we took our coffee outside to enjoy the patio. The colorful mural covering the building, beautiful flower pots, and relaxed seating made it a great place to sit and slow down for a while. Dog Bar Jim isn't just a place to grab breakfast, it's one of those places with real personality. Great food, excellent coffee, genuinely kind service, and an atmosphere that's fun, creative, and impossible to forget. If you're anywhere near Brunswick, it's absolutely worth the stop.

Looking to have a nibble and a mocktail or cocktail with friends? The Abbey has it (and more). The vibe: relaxed, warm, mid-modern meets minimalism, gorgeous stained glass windows, lots of natural light pouring in, the most comfortable seats you've ever sat in at a high top, lots of wood and greenery, a playlist that makes you stop and lean in. It's a cozy place that makes you want to stay a while. The drinks: I tried an iced cardamom latte with oat milk and it was fantastic (if you've ever had the vanilla cardamom cold brew coffee from Trader Joe's, it was an elevated version of that). I've also had a couple cocktails - since they make their syrups in house when they run out, they run out and your drink might be unavailable... BUT the staff is exceptional at making alternate recommendations and even making totally off menu drinks entirely! The food: Several (clearly labeled) vegan options! We tried the muhammara (a housemade dip topped with spiced walnuts, chickpeas, and three half slices of toasted sourdough) and the hummus plate (housemade and topped with marinated chickpeas and a drizzle of olive oil, accompanied by six naan wedges). LOVE the quantity of both dips, but wish there was some other dipping vessel outside of (the sometimes stodgy) bread. A little heap of rainbow veggies would be amazing! While the muhammara was a bit more liquidy than I've had elsewhere, the hummus was thicker than I was expecting. Solid shareable options regardless! (Grab a seat, order at the counter, and they'll call your name when your drinks are ready so you can go grab them; if you've ordered food, they'll bring that to your table. It was confusing what the clean-up situation was, several of us just sort of walking back to the bar with our plates and cups.) Excited to return again!

But I've always appreciated their delicious roasts! I had the opportunity to check out their open house in December and am so glad I braved the cold and snow to do so. I'm not entirely sure if they're open to the public normally, but part of me hopes they are (or would consider it at least two or four times a year). This is a beautiful space that should be celebrated and used as frequently as possible. We got to sample many different blends and actually watch coffee roast (which I had no idea was such a quick process - from white to yellow to tan to brown). Also, wanna talk about passionate, community-oriented people? The folks behind the Wicked Joe (and Bard) brand(s) definitely are; and they're intensely knowledgeable about coffee, too. What you don't know is that the entire Bard staff is trained thoroughly at this Wicked Joe locale on a set-up identical to one at the actual coffee shop. Each barista has to make every drink on the menu perfectly before they can serve you at Bard. My respect for that coffee shop multiplied by a thousand when I found that out! Also, as a side note, the actual roast of the coffees are different for the two brands - definitely important to remember and point out!

If that's the policy, that's fine, but there was no need to act that way, especially to someone who was just attempting to pick up a DoorDash order. In addition, it was especially confusing since other Aroma Joe's locations always direct dashers to use the walk-up window or go inside to avoid holding up the drive-through line. Rather than deal with the hostility, I unassigned the order from my account and left without pay. Delivery drivers are simply following the instructions provided to them and a respectful explanation would have been appreciated, especially considering the store has to manually add in what pick up instructions for drivers are.
