I love a great Starbucks and found that this was a solid choice on the campus of Indiana University across from beautiful Sample Gates. The exterior is unique to other Starbucks you might find which was appealing with its stone work and arches with columns. They offer outdoor seating. There was some minor debris. I had back to back weekend visits. Both strong and 4 stars on coffee and service. My grande white chocolate mocha was prepared perfectly and tasty. No issues with the app checkout. My sole gripe was not opening at 6 AM on Sunday like all the other days. The space i guess is considered on average size. The store has a bicycle theme after the famed Little 500 held annually in Bloomington. Also the movie "Breaking Away" pic. Super movie for those that have not seen. Starbucks are all over the place but the staff at this location are always so nice and so friendly!! I come to this location multiple times each week and they always try to make sure you're happy when you're walking out. Of course mistakes happen but they are so on top of everything in regards to fixing or making each drink however you want. If you don't like your drink they'll even replace it with something else! This is possibly the most popular Starbucks in Bloomington, and for good reason. The ambiance of the historic location as well as the nice mix of students, townspeople, university staff and faculty make it a unique experience. The location is full of windows that affords great opportunities for people watching. In warmer seasons, outdoor seating is especially pleasant. The staff are usually friendly and efficient and the coffee good (perhaps it's because Starbucks offers employees health benefits so they have reason to smile.) I've noticed there's not much turnover in staffing, with many familiar faces working throughout their undergraduate years at Indiana University. As Starbucks goes, its just like every other store in the chain. The difference with this one is the people that work here- each barista has asked me about my day when taking my order and remembers my name. I have to make note that I come at about 7 or 7:30 in the morning, way before the rush of college students that pack the place later in the day, but it still says a lot that these employees stop to take the time to engage with the customers especially when it is so early in the morning. The chairs don't smell like stale hippies like Soma does. Good place to study as you have access to IU wireless from the building above. Personal fan of the green iced tea lemonade -- unsweetened. I've spent many of nights and mornings here, simply because the Starbucks inside IMU can't scan your app for payment so they have to hand enter it into the system. Yes, you get the star for purchase but no gold card discount. As for this location, for as many times as I've been there the drinks are just very inconsistent. I have tried for three weeks to get my favorite drinks and each time they are out of the ingredients. They continuously say that they thought one of my drinks was seasonal but I came in yesterday to see it listed on their new fall menu and had the guy rudely tell me they were out of two of the main ingredients. Stopped into meet up with a friend and I was amazed at how busy it was! There was a steady stream of business, and at times it was hard to even snag a seat. The baristas were working incredibly hard and were getting orders out in a very quick manner. My drink was made well and my friend said that he liked coming here because they always have the blonde roast ready (unlike other area shops). We were able to find a table to sit at, and in the 90 minutes we were there, saw many people coming and going for their morning caffeine fix. I was already halfway across campus heading to a meeting when I realized that it was just not good at all. I had such a busy day start to finish that I had no time to go back. Busiest Starbucks location in Bloomington! The drinks are always made as they should, but there's rarely a place to sit, relax, or do some laptop work. I recommend you walk because there is not much parking around here either. Otherwise, perfect location for a stroll downtown or on campus to pick up a warm, frothy drink while you sightsee. read more

The place is nice and friendly. It's you're typical starbucks. The desk area with a surge protector is a really nice addition for people looking to get some work done on their computer. It's a super popular joint open very good hours and service is always top notch. Sometimes you even get discounts just for a smile. However it's just a starbucks. If you want a more "bloomington" experience try either Soma's on grant street or The Pourhouse on kirkwood. They offer a more unique coffee drinking experience. read more

This Starbucks is okay and it has a really good location near campus. It's a good place to go and study for an hour or so. Bathrooms are well maintained. Staff seems friendly and helpful. I have been here probably ten times and the only thing is that they often do not have milk or half & half available. They don't seem to refill them regularly and often they will have only one type of creamer available. Overall it's a good space with nice seating along the windows so you can look out onto Indiana Avenue. I haven't been here during the school year but there was certainly no hassle for lingering to study during the summer. read more
