This one a journey, buckle up lol. So I recently saw a TikTok from one of the owners here talking…read moreabout being part of "the Kaleidoscope lore." Wasn't totally sure what he meant, but I was curious. He also looked Latino, so naturally I wanted to pull up and support. On this day, I was passing through on my way back from San Diego and I remembered the video. I figured why not stop in. I get to the mall and it immediately felt like the lore he was talking about. The whole place gives major post-apocalyptic shopping center energy. I parked on the first level, which was eerily empty for a Friday, next to a dumpster that had somehow become an indoor water feature courtesy of a leak in the ceiling. "Will my car be okay?" I wondered. I walk into the elevator and quickly realize it's dead. The escalators? Also dead lol. For a second I genuinely thought the power was out. When I got to the main level, I noticed every single store was dark. Baffled, I had to Google the shop just to confirm it was open. Found out it was on the top floor, so I just started climbing, half expecting to find a zombie horde and instead found the entire mall's remaining population in one spot. Phew! To be fair, apparently this mall has been struggling for years. It's not exactly a secret around here you just have to kinda find out the way I did lol. None of that is on Concrete Coffee though, they're just doing their thing inside a building that's had a rough go of it long before they showed up. But honestly, it's worth the trek. The shop itself is cute, bright, and tucked into the front of a small boutique market with a handful of other little shops and eats. The menu was easy to read and the seasonal drinks looked great. The second I saw banana cold foam I knew I was staying awhile. I'm historically weak to a good cold foam. I actually hung around for a bit afterward and watched a steady stream of people pop in the whole time, so whatever's going on with the mall, this shop is clearly doing just fine. At least I hope they are! As it turns out, my cashier was the guy from the TikTok, and we ended up chatting for a bit. He explained the whole "lore" thing and it finally clicked. Shame the shop's stuck inside a building that feels like it's actively being reclaimed by nature, but it's genuinely worth the trip. Parking's free at least!. Despite the mall's rough shape, the staff and drinks here are the real deal and they deserve the support.

I ordered an iced vanilla latte with 2% milk. I'm no coffee expert--I only get vanilla iced lattes--but I didn't really enjoy it. I didn't get much vanilla flavor. It wasn't sweet at all, which I'm fine with. Since I don't live nearby, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. If I were to return, I would check to see if they offer teas.

The first time I was here, I ordered a flavored latte and it was overly sweet but somehow sour at the same time? The second time I came, I ordered a flat white with whipped cream. Again, so sour for some reason. Not sure if they're pulling their espresso wrong or something but coffee should not be sour. The barista also forgot my whip cream and the overall demeanor of all the baristas there is a bunch of mean girls. Not a welcoming environment and the coffee is bad too. Won't recommend this to anyone.

I come here every weekend for boba. I was there today and I placed my order at the self-checkout…read more My order receipt gets printed and is on the register for an employee to grab and make. I wait while the two employees help other customers with their poke bowls (it is a joint business with Poke Tiki). Then a male employee named "Key-on" grabs my order ticket and goes in the back. A while later, another customer walks in and places his order at the kiosk. 5 minutes after that, Keyon comes out with 2 drinks for the customer who just placed his order! So I tell Keyon that I have been waiting and my order was placed before his. Keyon then looks around and says he doesn't see any order tickets. I explain to him that he grabbed my drink ticket off the register when he went to the back. He then finds my ticket and says that he thought another employee was making it? He never apologized for his mistake. When he gives me my drink, I ask him if he can at least give me two stamps on my loyalty card. I come from a generation where you own up to your mistake and try to make up for it with a nice gesture. He should have comped my drink, but I only asked for an extra stamp to give him a chance to make things right. (You need 10 stamps to earn a free drink so it isn't even a big request.). Keyon asks me if I paid for 2 drinks. I told him, "No. But you messed up on my order and I had to wait more than 15 minutes for my drink." Keyon then tells me that I only paid for one drink so I only get one stamp. I left clearly upset. I also didn't trust that Keyon didn't spit in my drink so I drove back and got a refund. This dude knows nothing about customer service. He cost this business a regular customer. I will call tomorrow to find out who the manager is. Based on other similar reviews, I doubt the manager will do anything so I will go up the food chain to corporate.

They also didn't offer much explanation about their drinks, so if you're not sure what you want, it can feel a little rushed. Inside seating is very limited, which makes sense for the size. The highlights for us Young man offered me a sample of Kombucha: the kombucha was solid, and refreshing. Both the regular latte and the black latte were okay. The blackberry latte was better. One nice bonus is there's a great park just around the corner down the hill with beautiful views. You can grab your drink and drive over to sit and enjoy it there, which is a nice touch. But honestly, it's probably not worth making a special drive for.

If you're reading this review, please be confident that I consider myself a self-proclaimed boba…read moresnob and local business positive experience chaser haha I try to go to locally owned franchised boba shops in a 15-mile radius of this location but I come back here often! The closest one to Feng Cha Laguna Niguel is Omomo AV. Quick opinion about Omomo AV: I think Omomo AV is very overrated and only wishes it can have the reputation of Omomo Irvine. The lines are long, the boba quality isn't even that good, and the shop doesn't seem that clean. Now, let's cut to this review for Feng Cha Laguna Niguel: Two praises I'd like to note: The consistently great boba and aloe vera quality, a cutely decorated shop with games to play, and a new "kid" named James! I've been coming to this location for 3+ years now, getting my all-time favorite Mango Fantasy at 50% (sometimes 75%), with aloe vera for less calories, or boba to help after a bad day at work hahaha Anyway, the owner is often there even though he's also a realtor. He recently hired James, as well as many other kids throughout the summer. I have observed James "in-action" with some of the other kids and this kid has been raised well based on his work ethic and attitude...friendliness and care in the drinks he makes. I was there yesterday and the owner was not there. My point? James was enjoying his shift, made my drink perfectly again, and had a great music playlist playing! Go to Feng Cha LN and support this business for many reasons listed above and then some! Way to go, James and Feng Cha LN! Hope you stay working there even while you're in school, and best wishes for your future! Feng Cha LN: Thank you for exceptionally consistently delicious drinks and a cute shop! See you soon!
