I thought i purchased a car there but on Sunday, the day before i was to pick up the car, they told me they couldn't sell it to me with the financing i was promised and was signed off by both the salesperson and the finance manager. This is similar to a bait and switch but instead of substituting a different product, they tried to raise, significantly, the finance rate. Came here looking for a new car on a rainy Friday night on March 2023, where inventories were low and supply chain had issues. I got to test drive a Subaru Impreza Premium, it felt alright, it felt normal and it didn't have a wow factor. I liked it had 5 doors and more trunk space. But, I was looking for the Subaru Impreza Sport instead, because I preferred 18 inch wheels. I needed to try it out to get the feeling. But they didn't have one available for test drive. The sales person Jimmy Z was very welcoming, professional, and helped me out in the test drive process. He let me test drive by myself and I got to experience its engine, its acceleration, its breaking, and the most important its feel on the road. ***PLEASE BEWARE OF MIKE*** One month ago we put in our deposit, set the deal (had it written on the receipt)- then we waited 1 month for the car to arrive. So we go into the dealership ready to pick up the car and all we had to do was sign paperwork. We go into Mike's office and he nonchalantly states (sneaky man) that our rate is going to increase because our credit is too "light" and that we are a first time buyer. So what about the car we are about to trade in Mike? What about the title for the car we are about to trade in Mike? He later finds out about the ownership to our car and later finds out that he didn't have all the info.. When, BY THE WAY, all of that info was on his desk and right in front of him. He was ignorant, greedy, not diligent with his paperwork and worst of all the fuming of arrogance coming out of him. Baseline: He didn't do his homework and he just wanted to somehow make some more money the day we finally come to pick up our car. (which again, it's a typical dealership tactic.. I understand, because you gotta make your money but please I'm not one to sit and let you do this to.) His response to our frustration: "Give me 5 minutes let me make a call to the bank." So he asked us to leave his office, who knows what he did within that time.... I guess this is the part where he came to realize he made a mistake? But his apology was more like a sorry not sorry, he stated "I'm sorry if you thought I came off a certain way." Our frustrations made us want to leave and take our deposit back- so we said thank you and got up to leave. But Mike the man requests us to leave his office once more so that he can "make another phone call". Offered us a coupon and "made it all better"- says Mike. Overall: such an unpleasant experience in getting a new car. Wasted so much time and energy because of Mike's ignorance. Subaru is such a great brand, so unfortunate that they missed on this one. My mom was also told that her english is good, I'm sorry but that's quite racist and also quite ignorant to state. Because she's Asian and she's able to respond to questions in english, she has good english? There were only two new Outbacks and Foresters indoors while the rest of the cars were sitting in the hot sun at the back parking lot. Overall the process was pretty simple. Our sales consultant, Steve S., gave us options for in stock cars but we decided on a new custom car that they did not have in stock yet. Our first interaction with this dealership was 2020 August, we test drove an Outback. Nice ride, MSRP price was reasonable. When we asked Alex for a lease quote .. this is when things went sideways. After some time, the usual - let me see my manager ploy, he came back with 2 numbers - the monthly payment & the amount due at signing. Wtf? No cap cost, money factor/interest rate, residual percentage - basics that are required to understand the Auto Lease terms & the disclosures that are required for any Auto lease by Federal Law. At this point we walked out - nonsense. Alex, in another life is probably a reasonable person, but in this case - Maximus TOOL ... Recent interaction - this 2021 August. We called asking for pricing info for a Forester. Was haughtily told by Alex that due to the worldwide shortage of semi-conductors, blah-blah, etc. any in stock cars were being sold at 10% above MSRP. Wow!! - supplier power. But, Mazda & Volvo dealers are still selling below MSRP ... as well as other Subaru dealers. Good luck Alex - no business for you. I received a call from someone after inquiring availability of a specific car on Star Subaru's website. They told me that the car *might* have sold but would respond back with confirmation.... Moments later I received an email confirming our appointment the next morning. It also stated that my car was available. We were greeted at the dealership by a friendly receptionist and sales person. After a solid 20 minutes of Covid talk and providing my phone number (for the 3rd time), we were told that the car that we came to see had sold 4 days prior. Why wasn't that information available to us the day before? Classic bait and switch. The sales person was incredibly apologetic... We didn't feel that this was his fault. The dishonesty put us at pause.... sales tactic or not, there's a pandemic happening. Thanks for putting us at risk for no reason. We decided to try make the most of this experience by test driving different vehicles even though we didn't feel good about purchasing from this dealership. it took 40 minutes to move cars around the lot and to get ours out. Once we walked to the car, we noticed that the mechanic had jumped the car... Then, when we sat inside, we noticed the gas tank light was on and the meter was at empty... I didn't even mention that it took these guys 20+ mins to realize that they didn't have temporary plates to drive this car. They ended up going to their other dealership to grab one! We lost our patience at this point and decided not to test drive the car after all. Our salesperson was patient and helpful. But the original sales person didn't seem to take our phone call seriously or respect our time. To add on to the disrespect: as we were leaving, we noticed them helping another customer. Someone named Karen seems to acknowledge every terrible yelp review, but the salesperson wasn't available to do this in person? That would have gone a long way. Come to think of it: I'm sure sales people at this place are taught this tactic by the dealership. There are plenty of reviewers who are griping about it... So my wife's leased Subaru came with "free life of lease maintenance". Which Subaru doesn't honor because the salesman forgot to register us into the system, so we have to pay. This they told my wife, who went without me, AFTER service was complete. They claimed they did tire rotation, washer fluid, tire pressure check, and oil change. Tires have not been rotated...lugs have zero scratches on them, and the curb rashed driver side wheel is still on exact same corner. The oil level is about a quart to quart and a half over filled. There is ZERO washer fluid added since the level is below 50%. Tires are at 36/32/33/33 (specification calls for 32) which means their "check" was just to confirm TPMS light not on. Screw Star Subaru. I'll be doing my own maintenance. Keep your free shit that's no longer free. How do I know these things? I'm a mechanic. I thought I'd let star do my services since it's a lease and was told it'd be free. read more
