It had been a while since I visited Star Nails, and I suddenly remembered why. I got a gel pedicure and a full set. The pedicure was great! I wish I caught his name, but it was a younger gentleman who did my pedicure and his prep was fantastic. However, my full set was a complete 180 of an experience. My tech was rushing through the service, did the wrong nails the wrong colors (2 nails were solid, the rest were checkered - I don't personally think it was a complicated design). My biggest disappointment is how crooked the nails ended up, even after I asked for them to be fixed! It's barely been 24 hours and I'm starting to experience lifting, all while having slanted nails. I'm really disappointed in the final result, and in the $100+ I wasted before my trip.

This is the best nail place in the Gilbert area ever time I get my nails done I love them.

The most awful service I've gotten in YEARS from this place. Came in trying to get a gel pedicure and full acrylic set. One he rushed and left my cuticles a mess. Two he couldnt figure out how to get genuinely square nails which is weird because the clippers can do most of the work for you. Three I asked him TWICE to fix the shape and it didn't improve. Four he never applied a base coat. Five after the first coat of polish I told him it was streaky and uneven (texture wasn't smooth either). He told me he would file it down after the top coat which doesn't make sense. Six the polish didn't go even close to cuticles, was all over my knuckles and finger tips. Seven I asked for a single heart on my ring finger and both hands looked comparable to a child. Eight he continued with the top coat (never let me wash my hands) so there was grit from the electric file all over my hands and under the polish. Nine when he finished I decided to not get my pedicure because it was an hour of garbage. He then tried arguing with me blaming me and saying that I should have mentioned it before he finished which I did MULTIPLE times. I was willing to take a small discount (literally just the cost of gel or the small design which is reasonable) and leave but he chose to take them off and DID THAT POORLY AS WELL. He left most of the acrylic on, did that same bs where he left file powder on my hand then rubbed cuticle oil on it like it made a difference. I left with acrylic stuck to my skin that I can't even get off with hot water. Absolute worse service. My nails look worse off than if I just never came in.

    Nail fungus!!

GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!! I came here a couple months ago when I was visiting AZ and the service was so mid. I had a certain feeling when sitting here that I wasn't going to love my nails. The lady doing my nails was distracted the whole time she even got up and left to deal with another customer and I had to wait. While I was waiting i even filed my own nails because apparently the nail lady didn't know how to. My nails were crooked and the nail polish was sloppy. I had to get my nails done right away when I got back home. I also had a feeling that this place was not clean! Come to find out a month later I have nail fungus and needed to go to the doctor to be checked. They confirmed it. Do not come to this establishment. The ambiance was okay not horrible but everything else was!

Throbbing pain in left toe, she dug out the corners

I would give zero stars if I could. Nothing felt clean. Typically when I go to the nail salon, they open individual packets and use cleaned tools. ESPECIALLY IN A PANDEMIC. The base coat on my gel nails that the tech used was old, and when I went to wash my hands she was smelling it...it made me feel uncomfortable. She also dug into both of my big toes and cut the edges so deep that I fully anticipate ingrown toe nails, especially in my left foot since she cut it, and now it is THROBBING. Avoid this place. I have a feeling I will be going to the doctor very soon for an infected toe nail :( Worst nail experience I have ever had. UPDATE: I went back to the salon and they did refund me for my pedicure. However, I still would not recommend this place because it is clearly infected after meeting with the podiatrist.

    Wonderful place!

Wonderful place!! I wish I got the lady's name who did my nails because she was so gentle and precise and cared so much about getting it perfect I will go back just for her she did an amazing job and the prices were nice as well

Overall a good massage but I had to ask her twice to decrease the pressure and she also didn't put an eye mask on me when I flipped onto my back, which was awkward. It was also freezing in the room and although she said she put it on warm, it never warmed up. I was ok on the warm table, but when I got up afterwards, it was still as freezing as when I got in. They recently did a renovation and the women's shower area is really nice with big individual frosted glass showers with a dry area in front of the shower so that your things don't get wet. Prior to our massages, we enjoyed the co-ed pool area which is for spa guests only, 18+. This was a relaxing area with several water features with different pressures that you could stand under. They also had two small pools to the left which was a cold plunge and a hot plunge (no jets). The views of the mountains were so relaxing and the waiter Daniel was highly available for you to order food and drinks if wanted. Then I went to the women's only area to shower. They offer the most amazing smelling salt scrub (complementary) that makes your skin so soft. Don't forget to grab a bowl! The attendants in the women's area were so helpful. In this area was also a steam room, sauna and an area to dump a bucket of cold water on yourself. They also had 3 heated beds that you can lay on for 10 minutes before your treatment. After the massage, you go in a co-ed sanctuary and lay on a bed with a weighted blanket with noise canceling headphones for 25 minutes. This bed also vibrates to the sounds you choose. One side of my headphones wasn't working unfortunately. After, this led into a co-ed lounge. The hot water maker was already put away (at 5:06pm when they close at 6pm) so I couldn't make myself a cup of tea afterwards - especially when I still felt freezing, which was really disappointing. I expected more for $295 - better snacks and tea available until closing time. I don't think that is a lot to ask for. With so many spas in the area, if ever back in Scottsdale, we don't plan to return.

We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted and checked in immediately. After filling out our forms and a short wait, we were individually led back to each of our rooms. My therapist was phenomenal! I requested medium to hard pressure and she listened. She focused on my problem areas and released some knots. It was a fantastic massage. At $100 for a 60-minute massage, I thought the price point was very reasonable and would definitely book with Citrus again!

I felt it was important to update my review after this experience because it was unlike any massage…read moreI have ever had. I have been to this spa many times before and have always had wonderful experiences with Vanessa. Unfortunately, she wasn't available this time, so I was scheduled with a different therapist. I have never had an issue here until this appointment. I booked this massage because I wanted to relax and get relief from tension in my shoulders, neck, and head. I never requested a deep tissue massage. Instead, the therapist simply started doing one without ever asking if that was what I wanted. Within minutes, I was wincing in pain and told her multiple times that it was too much. I also explained that I get migraines and prefer a gentler, more relaxing massage that focuses on my problem areas. Rather than listening to what I was asking for, she continued with an aggressive deep tissue massage over my entire body. She never once touched my neck or head as I requested, she focused entirely on my arms and shoulder blades. Instead of adjusting her technique, she told me I had so much tension that I needed to schedule at least 2 or 3 two-hour deep tissue massage. By the end of the session, she even instructed me to ice my body afterward because of how intense the massage had been. That alone should have been a sign that this was far beyond what I had booked or wanted. I came in hoping to leave relaxed, not feeling like I needed to recover from my massage. She also talked throughout nearly the entire appointment, which made it impossible to unwind. The combination of the constant conversation and the painful massage meant I never had a chance to actually relax. She also saw me wincing and said that, "sometimes, you have to do the work." I left sore for days afterward, and the massage ultimately triggered one of my migraines. A massage should be tailored to the client's comfort level and goals, especially after they communicate what they want and say they are in pain. Unfortunately, my requests were ignored from beginning to end. I'm incredibly disappointed because I've always had positive experiences here before. However, after this experience, I will never book with this therapist again.
