My nails were $106. Would have helped to know the price up front. The rhinestone application was not consistent, nor what I originally asked for because they changed the original person who was doing my nails. The first person did amazing work. The second person did not appear to understand what I wanted even though I told the original person multiple times and thought it was clear enough by the time they switched. This place is fantastic - and huge! Prices are reasonable, service very fast and friendly. I found street parking right outside and was impressed to walk in on a Sat afternoon and be sat down in a pedi chair immediately. They were busy but had a lot of staff. There are 10+ chairs for pedicures and about the same for manicures, plus a separate section for waxing. This would be a great place to come with a group of friends wanting to be pampered. I had such a incredible experience getting my nails done here at Star Nails! I called in on a weekend and they had availability within the hour. They seem to be in their own little area which was super nice and had different drinks, including Vietnamese hot coffee to drink. Kat and Lola did the most incredible job and I got a full manicure and pedicure. They did multiple treatments and were very sweet, always asking if the pressure or treatment felt well. They took extra time when I had some sensitivities and were really efficient. Kat picked out the cutest sparkly red color for both my nails and toes. The massage chair was really nice too! The way the nail tech took them off was probably not the best way at all. he just cut the tips off then slid another fake nail under the acrylic to pry it off. Part of the acrylic was still stuck to my nail so it broke and it hurts a lot!! Plus they charge $12 + $1 if you're using debit/credit, and they remove them in the most painful way ever. I know other places actually take the time and soak them off then shave them down a bit. Now I have a thin nails and a few of them are damaged. This place is way nicer on the inside, and you will have to look for street parking. I'm searching for a new nail place and this one comes close. The staff was very friendly and I loved the woman who did my pedicure (they use the cheese grater to get calluses off - seriously the best way). They did my pedicure and manicure at the same time which I can see some people appreciating for the sake of time, but I prefer when it's done separately so I can veg out on my phone while getting a pedicure. I was also there with a friend but they did not do the same to her, so that was kind of annoying. I got the gel manicure also and I liked how careful he was when doing it. I still didn't like having it done while I was in the chair; he had to keep moving the nail dryer back and forth, which was just slightly annoying as it's supposed to be a relaxing experience. I felt like I had to help coordinate what he was doing in the small space of the pedi chair. Let's keep it real: 1. Location is definitely sketchy i.e. bring your valuables with you or put them in the trunk of your car. You MUST check to see if you locked your car doors twice. I mentioned my concerns to the woman who worked on my nails and she dismissed them. MINUS 2 stars and red flag! 8. My nails look worse in the sunlight and they are different lengths too. I called the salon and plan on returning tomorrow. Based on previous reviews from dissatisfied customers on here, I am not too optimistic about a refund or redo. Great place! Came in around noon on a Saturday and they were able to take me immediately. I wanted coffin nails with pink gel and the guy who did my nails shaped them perfectly and did a really nice job all around. I do think the tables could be a little cleaner, maybe lay down a towel so I don't need to see the filings and dust from previous customers. Overall, I found it a little pricey at $47 for my full set. The nails were worth it but at that price I would expect the setting to be a little cleaner and maybe a hand massage or something. LEFT IN TEARS TODAY -- Okay, before I begin, let me preface by saying that I'm a local and have been going to Star Nails for years now. I remember the first time I went and how pleasantly surprised I was when I walked into their building. Their service was great and everyone was friendly. The pricing was reasonable and their finished jobs were outstanding. As you can see, I'm talking in past tense. Over the years, I'm seeing all of those factors declining. Their services seemed to be shorter or not consistent based on who was working on you. The pricing seemed to change every time I went, and the extra charges were outrageous. $5 to take shellac off, $10 for an extra coat of shellac, $5 for this... Their pricing list didn't change but they charged you for everything. All in all, the worse thing was the services got worse. I went from having great nails to shitty ones that broke after a week. I use to always get the deluxe pedicure and a shellac manicure. I noticed that my nails were getting weaker and broke more often with the shellac. When I asked for more coats so they would be a little sturdier, they argued with me and then told me it would be extra. I did stop coming for a while but I've had trouble finding another place that is nearby. So I started to come back again, even though I left a little disappointed each time, because it was right down the street from my house and it was all about convenience. Well, today I went in and got a deluxe pedicure with someone I've never had seen before. I honestly thing it's the same girl who other reviewers mention about the new person who doesn't know what she is doing. Well this person, she doesn't know what is doing. I had shellac on my toenails prior to coming, and after telling me it would be $5 to remove it, she proceed to drill my nail color done completely THE ENTIRE TIME. She didn't use acetone and foil and let it sit like you normally do when you get shellac taken off... she used the drill THE ENTIRE TIME. At one point I started to wence because my toenails start to hurt. Under further inspection and soreness, I noticed a lot of pink streaks on my toenails, one in particular. She had drilled my nail down so far that is like drilled my actual nail off. Painful is an understatement. She then cleaned my nails and it was very painful because of my new sores on my nail beds. We got to the clipping my nails and she literally cut the corners off of all my nails so now they stick out weird and are more triangle shaped. Trust me, I was telling myself the entire time to tell her to stop but it got too far and I FIGURED she knew what she was doing... what a concept. On top of everything else, she didn't even file them so they are all jagged and mis-shaped if you compare them. I'm praying that I don't get ingrown nails after this when they grow back. The painting of the nails was shitty. She didn't do a good job, I'm not going into any more detail. They were horrible. I left, a little upset because of how much I paid and how bad my feet felt/looked. Well I carried on with my day to notice that my nail polish never seemed to look dry. I realized about 4 hours later that the polish was completely wet and it basically smeared off. She didn't clean my nails off before painting them so the wax/lotion was on my toes, making the polish un-dryable. Awesome. At this point, I was just really mad. I decided to just go back there tonight and get them fixed. They have fixed my nails before for free if something happens with them within the first week or so. They know me there because I've been going for years. Well, I figured I would just walk in and be able to get them fixed. Nope. Basically the owner told me that I had to pay for them to be re-done in shellac, because it's shellac. Even though I was literally there 4 hours before and it wasn't even my mistake with the paint job. I argued with him a little and he finally walked off, they fixed my nails quickly and then figuring we were good, basically held out his hand for another $15 dollars. I argued and tried to get them to be reasonable but nothing would translate for him. So now I'm out $75 (including a tip) with very sore, torn to the nail bed, and janky toenails. I'm not trying to bash them at all, just sharing what happened to me. I'm very upset clearly because of the amount I spent and the trouble I went through. But I think the worst part is how I was treated, especially for being someone who comes often and also brings my family and friends. I will never go there again, convenience or not. It's the principle and it's called customer service. If you've made it this far, I hope you consider this before going as well. A trip to the nail salon should be relaxing and well earned (it's YOUR MONEY which you work hard for), not leaving in tears of frustration and cuts and sores. First impression of this place was how pretty the interior space is. I did not expect it to look the way it does from the outside. It's quite a spacious area. It is also FAR cleaner than most nail salons I've been to. I walked in to get my dip powder acrylics off and they did a very thorough job. After all the product melted off, my nails were looking RATCHET but my shellac manicure was amazingly done and I really appreciated my tech's attention to detail. Tri is one of the sweeeeetest people I've ever met and I really enjoyed my conversation with him while I was here. My nails are incredibly weak and I always have issues with techs being way too aggressive but everyone was gentle and made me very comfortable. Will be returning :) read more
