Me and my friends all got "coffin" nails for our shape and this is personally my favorite nail shape. the place is much better looking on the inside than the outside. They have a fountain and nice furniture, much more classier than I excepted! The guy who did my nails was very nice and funny! Gave them a pretty big tip for doing such a good job! I just went and got my nails done a week ago. I found this place just by looking at review and the reviews for this place don't lie. I was very impressed! I can been pretty picky when it comes to my nails. For starters I normally bit my nails so when it comes to getting my nails done these places don't have much to work with. I also like my nails to be super short and very thin so they look as natural as posible. Everyone at this salon worked together to help each other out which was also really nice to see and they all made sure that I was comfortable and made sure I liked what they were doing. If I could give this place 0 stars that would be my choice. This is my first time coming back in a long time because I used to be a regular customer, but I have been busy with school, and needless to say, I am VERY disappointed with the service I received. The guy who did my nails did the BELOW the BARE minimum-- he put my acrylics on, did the shape, put the powder on, filed them and that was it. He did not try to thin my nails out, make the length of my nails even, or even smooth my nails. You would expect them to do more for the price they charged- $40, and yet they did not. For it being a Friday, I came in and it was not even busy. Usually when I get my nails done, whether there were minor problems, I would just deal with it, but this was the first time I have ever felt so disrespected in getting my nails done, I definitely will NOT be coming back. read more

We've tried a number of nail salons in the area and Star Nails is the best. Their location is very nice with plenty of spa chairs for pedicures and stations for manicures. I can't believe I've lived in Rainier Beach for a year and a half and never went to get my nails done. I had a set done in Spokane two weeks ago and the nail tech did a pretty bad job. My nails were a wreck, the acrylic was too thick, and they were lifting and breaking. After checking Yelp, I was pleasantly surprised to see a salon with wonderful reviews about a block and a half from my apartment. I walked in right after they opened (9:30 on a Saturday) and saw a clean, nicely decorated salon with a calm, muted atmosphere. Tri helped me right away. He went straight to work on making my nails look great while engaging me in a fun conversation. When he was done with my nails I had a fantastic set of nails just like I wanted them. And the price was right. $16 for a fill is pretty reasonable in my book, especially with the amount of work he put into fixing a mess. The pedicure stations were clean and orderly and I think I may just give that a whirl one of these days. I highly recommend Star Nails and definitely see Tri if you can. He's great at nails and a really professional, nice, and funny guy. By the way, there is a dollar surcharge if you pay with a card, which they let me know up front. If you don't want the surcharge, bring cash. :) read more

I absolutely love this nail salon! Despite the south end neighborhood, the store and staff are very clean and friendly. I went to get my nails done for prom and the nails design I chose was a bit much for the average mani/pedi. However they pinpoint the design and I left extremely happy and satisfied! The pedicure process is also very lovely! The last time I went received one of the finest foot massages in my life. For a pedicure it was nice. Just finished my first mani pedi. The pedi was awesome! Best massage ever and the woman who did the paint was meticulous. The mani, however, not great. Think I got a brand new person. Massage was 2 minutes and only the hands/wrists. Bummed, was really looking forward to the great massage others wrote about. The paint job was also kind of messy. Nails are all different lengths & not evenly filed. Will definitely come back but beck more choosy about who does my nails. Be ware of the young lady with glasses. read more

Like many have said, the outside doesn't look like much but inside, there are two waterfalls, a huge, clean room with lots of stations, wheelchair access including bathroom with a grab bar, tons of colors of nail polish available, and great service. Unfortunately, I had very poor service here. I asked for a French pedicure and my feet looked like two different people, neither of whom were professional nail techs, did my feet. I asked for them to be fixed, as much as possible and they still looked bad. I was going to get a manicure here, but decided not to as my toes looked so bad. When I told the owner that I was dissatisfied with my service, she offered no discount or recourse and simply said just don't tip.
