Im so sad to write this review but the service here has gone down hill. I used to love this place. Used to be Good massage and beautiful work. Now, I can't say that. The work is marginal. Uneven filing, takes more than an hour for the standard pedi, lumpy and uneven paint job and I've been nicked twice. To top it off, when you tell them, they look at you like nothing is wrong and then all of the sudden don't understand me. The woman working was so rude and they really don't care. They over book too. Things have changed and I'm not sure why. The rudeness and cluelessness I experienced today was enough to make me never come back here. Such a disservice and waist of my time! read more

Star Nails in Sarasota is hands-down the cleanest nail salon I've ever been in--like VERY clean. I was especially appreciative of the total lack of chemical smells (yay!), which made the whole experience so much more pleasant, especially with baby in tow. The staff was wonderful and welcoming, and my nail tech was incredibly accommodating while I had to hold and nurse my baby during the service. They worked carefully around me without any fuss and followed my request for very short nails perfectly. The only small downside was that they were running about 10 minutes late, which made my child a bit antsy--but honestly, given how great everything else was, it wasn't a big deal. Two days after the polish is already wearing off and you can see through in places. She didn't put a top coat on, another woman was waiting for a pedicure with water and she was in a hurry. I have never had my nails done so poorly. They weren't filed evenly or smoothed out. I came in to have it fixed. They left me sitting there for 45 minutes. I finally gave up, I will never come back and that is unfortunate because it is so close to my home. read more

This is the best acrylic nails and pedicure that I have had in SARASOTA. The salon is pretty, neat and clean. The nail technician/owner Steven is gentle and a perfectionist. My nails are 10/10 and I am very picky. I hate being hurt or burned during this process. I don't feel that going through pain or bleeding is necessary. And I have had zero pain with Steven doing my nails. My nails look natural for acrylic and very beautiful at the same time. Let me start off by saying this woman is very fake. She is nice to your face but when something goes wrong she is a very uncaring person and all she wants to do is take your money. I thought what I was paying for was a nice nail tech that knew what she was doing, let me tell you she did not. Every time I went to this woman which was around five times a couple hours after my appointment I wouldn't be doing anything strenuous and my nails would break. I would contact her to ask her to fix them and unfortunately she is VERY INFLEXIBLE with her schedule 8-3 so there for I would have to live with broken nails for up to five days before she could even fix them for me on a Saturday to pick up something at a store and they break the same day. I contacted her to let her know my nails broke YET AGAIN, and all she could say was "ok". She doesn't care about her customers satisfaction so I filed a claim with my bank and I get a very combative text from her that in my eyes is very unprofessional. I was unsatisfied with my services and she wasn't willing to refund my money and said " I've never had to do a refund in 27 years" as if she is the best that ever walked on the earth. This place is one of the friendliest and cleanest nail salons I've ever taken my 15 year old daughter to. They filled her acrylic nails for a few dollars more than where she originally had them done but he even fixed the nails that were put on crooked. They give a 10 day guarantee! I am new to SRQ and looking for a nail salon. Based on all of the 5-star​ reviews I opted for Star Nails​. I was there on a Saturday at about 10 am. There wasn't​ another person in the place when I arrived, even though the door was open I thought the place must be closed. The salons I am used to are packed at 10 am on a Saturday morning. I opted for the $35 mid-range​ pedicure. The pedicure lasted less than 45 minutes and was just meh. The massage​ was short and just ok, polish could have used another coat. This has been my best mani/ pedi experience in Sarasota so far. I did not have an appointment so I had to wait a short bit for service. The salon is clean (foot soak is lined with removeable plastic liners), super organized and even had a little Hello Kitty pedi chair for children. I'm a bit fussy about my shellac nails but after my wait, I decided to add a shellac mani to my pedi. Cindy was meticulously detailed. I chose the basic pedi and my feet are soft and my toes look perfect. My nail polish came off easily WITHOUT A DRILL and Cindy shaped and painted them beautifully. I never felt pressured to upgrade at all. My hardest choice was water, soda, or wine...a free complimentary beverage service they offer. I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed! read more

They said they did a better job than their very high end nail salons where they are from. I would not recommend this place. In my experience only One of the nail techs is good, and the rest are horrible. The owner himself does a hack job every time I have him do my nails and that is the reason I am over this place. I leave with cuts and scrapes every time, so I stopped coming. Not gentle, not professional and the prices fluctuate too. Sometimes I'll go in and it's $35 other times it's $40 for the same procedure. Bad place don't waste your money & time read more

I just moved to the Sarasota area and found Star Nails on Yelp. The reviews were not lying. Steven is so nice and the salon is very clean. He did a wonderful job on my nails and even pointed out that I was starting to get a fungal infection and suggested that he cut the affected nails short, which I agreed with. And thank goodness, my nails are back to normal. A podiatrist couldn't have done a better job. Most salons are the first to see this problem but not take on the responsibility for it.
