I made an appointment a week ago with Tom at 11 o'clock today. I got there at 1055 waited until 11:20, Asked when Tom would do my manicure and pedicure. The woman in the front cubicle said Tom not here today. I asked why no one called me she didn't answer me. She said Jimmy will do for you. After a few minutes I said how long is Jimmy going to be. She said 35 minutes. That was an hour after my 11 o'clock appointment with Tom who didn't show up and no one bothered to call me to reschedule. (they knew i was new), so they gave me all the information i needed. she let me pick out what color and sent me to a station. the guy who did my nails, (i think his name is mike or something of that sort) he did such a wonderful job!! i got a full set of acrylics, (which is my first time ever). the only problem was that most of the stuff used wasn't sanitized when other clients were getting serviced. i definitely recommend for acrylics though. this was about $37~including coffin shape (which is an extra $5) read more

They looked bad when I left but I had no time to wait any longer to get them fixed. This was a Gel Manicure and Pedicure I noticed that day she didn't shape up my nails but it was all so fast I didn't notice until after I was walking out. The nails were bubbled and not strait either but I hoped that since it was gel at-least it wouldn't flak on me. The photos are my nails after a few days. 60$ what a waste! read more

I absolutely love this salon. I am extremely picky and seemed to have the worse luck with nail salons, then I found Star!!! Low a behold I've been going to this salon for almost two years and they didn't have a Yelp page for me to rave on the awesomesauce!!! I moved away for a year and came back to the Owings Mills area and there has been no salon worth my time or good vibes. They don't rush you they remember you and I have always walked out happy!!! Poor service. Wasn't satisfied with the exfoliation process of the spa pedicure. The technician barely used any exfoliation at all which is one of the key parts of a spa pedicure. When I asked for the tech to do the exfoliation again, she refused to do it and wouldn't complete the service. I'm shocked at this because it was a simply ask and the salon was not full. My time and the tech's time was wasted. I am a returning customer at this location, and this is the first time I received such terrible service. I'm thoroughly disappointed. read more

Desperately needed my nails done, went here because of the reviews and was not disappointed! Clean space and good set up, friendly staff who all greeted me. As a walk-in I was able to sit down right away. They soaked off my old gels, my technician Vivian was friendly and worked quick and diligently. She helped me with picking a color (I appreciate an honest tech!) and they came out lovely! (I kept it simple with a nude gel). And in under an hour! I've been going to Star Nails for almost a year. I actually liked the service I've received until last week. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure 6/11/2021 and one of my nails broke two days later. I returned 6/18/2021 on my off day for a nail repair. I was told by the owner to come back later because they were busy. I told her I'll wait because I don't live near the nail salon. I witnessed a black man come in and asked for a pedicure. He was told it would be a 40 min wait time and he needed to sign in and write his number beside his name. He stated he'll come back in 40 mins. A black woman came in about 5 mins later asking for a pedicure. The owner told her it'll be a 20 min wait time so she decided to leave. A white woman came in 5 mins later asking to a regular manicure and pedicure and she was told by the owner to sit at station #2. I asked who was going to fix my nail and the owner asked me where did I get my nails done at? I told her that I got my nails and feet done there. I waited for over an hour for them to fix one nail. I couldn't believe that they acted like they never seen me before and I've been going there for almost a year. They really need to work on being professional and treating all customers equal. My roommate brought me to this place because she is a regular. Staffs are friendly and a little bit on the quiet side (if you like the chatty ones this might not be your place). Set ups are nice and clean. Plenty of stations but was a little bit understaffed. Had to wait for 25 mins on a weekend for someone to help me. The manicure service wasn't bad. They were quick and diligent and made sure all my cuticles were properly removed before they apply the gel polish. My gel manicure which last me for 2-3 weeks before it started to peel then I had to remove them by myself. Overall, not a bad experience. read more

I wanted to like Star Nails, but I wasn't impressed. The basic pedicure was $33, which seemed high for what it is--most other salons I've gone to are $25 for the same service. I had a young guy working on me and he just didn't really seem to know what he was doing. I asked him to stop cutting the cuticles on the sides so that I wouldn't get ingrown toenails later, but he kept going (he may not have understood me as his English wasn't good). Then he cut my skin and the area started to bleed. He put some powder on the area, and he didn't seem that bothered by it. I'm hoping I don't get an infection! It also felt pretty rushed. My friend and I were done in about 10 minutes total. The place was clean, the staff friendly, and we got right in and that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of one, but I was tempted to give it one star... Definitely would not recommend and will not be going back. read more

****BE CAREFUL GOING TO THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE KIDS THEY CLEARLY THINK THEY CAN INTERACT WITH YOUR CHILD HOWEVER THEY SEE FIT**** Michael and Cindy both were WAY out of line with my 4 y.o. legally blind niece and we will never return. My Aunt and I used to go here ALL of the time, but we will never go back. My sister (visiting from PA) came in with her 4 y.o. daughter (who is legally blind and has a rare form of retinal degeneration - she can only see things close up) and my niece was looking at the colors on the acrylic nails. Something she usually does when she goes and gets her nails done in PA. Michael (a tech) came up and took them off of her to show another customer. He was nasty, but we understood why he needed them obviously. The nails were returned to my sisters technician, Nancy for her to select a color and I handed them back to my niece to look at while she waited. I want to point out she was sitting on the chairs by the front door and just looking at them. Michael comes up and literally rips the nails out of her hand without saying anything to her. I asked him if there was a problem where he repeatedly told me they were not toys. I explained to him that he cannot just go up and rip something out of anyone's hands, she deserved and explanation. Another customer walked in as this was happening and he turned his attention towards her. I got his attention again and demanded he apologize to her. It took me asking at least 5 times before he apologized. I told him if he has a problem with a child in the salon he should direct his concerns to the adult accompanying them. Cindy, the owner, came up and defended Michael even though my sister's technician, Nancy was visibly upset by Michael's behavior and even apologized to my niece saying "that was really mean of him, I'm sorry. I'm sorry Baby" Cindy told me more times than I can count that they are not toys. Which we did not know and weren't told that she couldn't LOOK at those nails. Michael did have half-assed apology as did Cindy but I can assure you we will never return. Any time their is an issue with a child, the business/employees should never feel they have the right to discipline or correct the situation with that child. This whole thing was on me for handing the nails to her twice. She did not have the visual ability to see Michael walk up to her and snatch them out of her hands. She was scared and embarrassed. They claim to be a "kid friendly" establishment, which you would think because there is always at least 3 kids in the back behind a curtain... but clearly not. read more

I was a regular customer, always happy with the service and results. Then I went in during Chinese New Year week, last year and all the girls had gone home. So the lady "in charge" did my finger and toe nails. She cut me three times, drawing blood! Never had this happened with the girls. I can understand once, perhaps twice, but this was too much!! She charged me Full price and accepted a full tip. I had never gone back nor had my nails done again, any where. I just called 5/23/19 5:10pm. I believe the same lady answered the phone. I explained the situation to her and asked may I please get some consideration for what happened! I was not looking for a free manicure but a one time discount. She said not here. I told her I was writing this review, she said fine, thank you. She said the owner was a man and was not there. The place is literally one block from my house!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I have been coming here for years. They provide excellent service and everyone is so nice. I get gel regularly and it easily lasts 3 weeks. Their pedicures are sooooo good (try the hot stone ahhhh) that I get one every time I get my nails done. They have been exceptional during the pandemic. When we returned to the salon we were so pleased with how safe and clean it was. They even did renovations to make it safer. Call for an appointment - Cindy, Vivian, and Andy are awesome! read more

COVID-19 precautions are taken seriously here! I've been to Star Nails Salon many times and have received consistently professional service. On June 24, I made my first return visit since nail salons reopened and was greeted warmly by name, impressive any day but especially that day since it had been over 3 months AND I was wearing a mask. Everyone was wearing a mask, appropriate distancing was practiced, precautions were calmly and quietly put in place, including disposable sturdy liners for foot soaking tub and plexiglass shields placed between client and pedicurist. The low-key placement of these precautions increased the usual relaxing vibe here. I received patient and gentle care during my pedicure which was surely a challenge after such a lapse in treatments. It was a lovely day, and so I was given a spot outside to allow my polish to dry. My feet look great and I felt welcome, safe and comfortable from start to finish! This will continue to be my go-to for mani-pedis! read more
