This place was gross. I got dip nails, they were super thick... basically 2 by 4s on my nails and they only lasted a week. They didn't have me wash my hands prior, making me worried about the cleanliness. The woman doing my nails didn't wear gloves and had a large wart on her hand. read more

I really wanted to give this place more stars, but after having many pedicures at various salons, this place just didn't check off all of my boxes. On a whim I decided to try out Star Nails which is a little closer to where I live than my usual nail salon in Beverly. I booked an appointment for a pedicure for 4:20pm, sat down at 4:25 and was out of the salon and in my car by 5:05. To me...this is fast...and honestly some people may like getting in and out and on their way. The pros: Staff was super friendly, the salon was very very clean! Maybe they could add a "Spa Pedicure" to their menu which for a little extra money would give a little more massage time, exfoliation, the cheese grating LOL, etc. If you want in and out...this is a great spot. If you want a bit more pampering with your pedicure you may need to look elsewhere. read more

I have liked this salon for a long time. I recently had a pedicure. The man who was filing my feet made a bloody mess of my big toe. I mentioned it to the manager at the time. I received an apology. I stopped in 4 days later to show her the scab, and I only got an another apology, then a lukewarm offer of a partial refund. I went to Star Nails yesterday, and told the owner, Melisa, that the reason I don't like acrylic nails is because they are too thick and feel heavy on my hands. She only put one coat of fill on, and filed them down, and it was the first time ever, my nails looked perfect, and felt light. They actually looked like I had a gel manicure. I had taken my acrylic nails off three years ago, hoping that Biotin and collagen would thicken my nails. There was no change. So, I'm back to acrylic nails, but I love them, and will enjoy wearing my rings again. Thanks Melisa. And by the way, Cindy does the most amazing pedicures. read more

I've been getting my nails done for 35 yrs and have probably tried every nail salon on North shore,this place is great.Melissa the owner does my nails she does a great job gets me in promptly, because of my crazy schedule I can call and usually get in when convenient for me.The place is spotless bright and comfortable.The prices very reasonable and she offers waxing as well.Cindy does the pedicures she's very sweet and gentle I just wish they could work on the rough cracked skin a little better.The hot hot stones feel amazing.i love this place read more

Today was my first day going there & I went to get a pedicure. It was AMAZING, definitely my new favorite nail place by far. Only $26 for a pedicure and they give you an amazing massage & even hot stones! It is so new & clean inside with a huge variety of colors to choose from. Pedicure was pretty good - nice massage and spent a good amount of time with the hot stones. I did have some excess red polish around my toenails though. Shellac Mani was MEH. She didn't even clean up my cuticles, just filed my nails, and some of the clear gel stuff pooled on one nail into a big lump. Shellac mani & pedicure was $54.... not worth it. Ambiance was not great. There was a baby in the salon who was whining and they were playing loud nursery songs on the iPad for him.... I was escaping my own children for a little me-time only to have to listen to this. Not good. I won't go back. read more

I've been going to Star Nail Salon for about a year now, mostly for pedi's. In the beginning it was fine- hot stone massage and attention to my feet. However, in the past 6 months or so I feel like it's been a rush job. The last girl I had was texting on her phone and SO distracted while doing the pedicure. I finally had to ask her to focus on the task at hand and pay attention I just went back again, today, and had a similar situation. The male aesthetician was watching a sports event on the TV while working on me... I noticed the inconsistency in the amount of time devoted to each client. I started at exactly the same time as another woman and was done completely in 30 minutes flat. Her service took another full 15 minutes to complete. Same price. It's doubtful I'll ever go back unless the services provided become more consistent and attention to detail is better. read more

I'll start with the positive: I have been to Star a few times now and have always received great pedicures. They soak, scrub, do a hot oil massage, hot stone massage, and lotion massage. Worth every penny! But that's about where the positive review stops. I recently got a gel manicure here and left pretty disappointed. I went in as a walk in and there was no wait. While there, the place filled up. There was just one person, the owner Melissa, doing manicures at the time and there was a wait which was fine with me. After waiting about 15 minutes I sat down with Melissa and asked if they did dip gel manicures and she said she could do any color which I was happy to hear as I had never tried it before and heard great things. She quickly filed and buffed my nails, no cuticles, no clipping, just file and buff. She did not ask me to wash my hands to clean up the dust created, she just used the air brush to blow them off. She then did clear dip gel and proceeded to do gel polish on top and have me put my hands in the UV light. I later found out that this is not the proper process for dip gel, but not a huge deal. During my time at her station she answered the phone a few times while still working on my nails. The whole manicure probably lasted 20 minutes. She did not finish them by doing any more filing or cleaning up. I expressed my concern that they needed to be cleaned up which she said she couldn't because the gel was already hardened. She did attempt to use a nail file on my cuticles to get the gel to look better and then used the Dremel tool as well. I again said they looked sloppy and her response was "sorry honey" and moved on to the next person waiting and had another technician cash me out. That night my thumb nail started to chip. Three days later I was down to 5 nails left in tact while 5 had peeled off. I went back and asked for a refund. She did offer to do my nails again but I did not have time for another manicure and also had already given her the chance to make it right when I was there originally. With some back and forth I was given an eye roll and $20 to compensate for half of the price. Which was fine as I have no problem paying for her time, even if she claimed she spent an hour on my nails, which she did not. Sorry for the long review, I just hope that if you do decide to go here you have a better experience than me. I originally went there through a friend's referral and have heard great things. Maybe it was just an off day, but either way, it was not a good experience. read more

Visited Star Nails a few times for a pedicure. The last pedicure I had a young girl who was on her iPhone texting WHILE doing my pedicure. I thought, ok, maybe an emergency at home. But the texting was excessive and rude, I was not in the mood to say anything that day, after all, just trying to relax and enjoy my pedi. I go back again, and I get the same young girl! This time she was so worried about another customer who was waiting (customer seemed quite irritated) she hurried my pedicure and basically slapped on the polish so fast there was polish around my toenails on my feet. So basically, i was rushed out of my chair because so they could take another customer before she walked out. NOT HAPPY. DID NOT TIP. WILL NOT GO BACK. UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

The salon is immaculate and the owner and staff are very friendly. I cannot say enough about their Gel application technique... this is top quality that you will not find anywhere else! I am very particular about my nails and have had the Gel overlay for the past three years. Star Nails uses the airbrush technique for the french manicure, making it look like your natural nail. I brought my niece and stepdaughter here for a girls day. We all got Gel manis and regular pedis. Over $200 later, 2-3 days later, ALL 3 of our manis started falling apart. Peeling, Chipping,etc. I've never had even a basic mani last less than a week?? I went back for a refund on the Manis only and they refused. My tech was perfectly nice and friendly, but she was also texting throughout my entire pedicure. Hot stone massage was a pleasant surprise, but my left leg got massaged twice and my right leg wasn't massaged (my left leg was closer to her phone). I have been a Star Nails customer since they first opened in Ipswich 2 yrs ago...in fact, I had previously been a customer of Melissa (the owner) when she worked at a salon in Rowley, and I was more than happy to follow her to Ipswich when she opened her own business. The Gel manicure is by far the best I have ever received. I've had gels on and off for about 12 years and Melissa at Star is the best tech ever. She is a perfectionist and always does a superb job. She prides herself (and trains her staff) in giving a flawless gel, thin and not thick and claw-like. I am a picky nails person and am now too spoiled to go anywhere else. And her prices are very reasonable as well, cheaper than most in the area. I have recommended her and her staff to all my friends and they have been happy and grateful to get such great service. I've gone here several times, and every time the staff is incredibly rude to me. They're always talking on the phone or texting. Last May, I went in to get my nails done for prom and they didn't even bother to finish my manicure! I had an appointment for right when they opened and there were no other customers. The women was giving me a fill, and as soon as another customer came in she told me to go and start my pedicure. My fill wasn't even complete yet. Of course this is annoying but I comply. I go back to have her finish my fill and she does, then puts the color on before my design. She finishes my color and another customer comes in and she tells me to go wait before she finishes me. Finally I told her enough is enough, and I paid and left. Being known for giving second chances I went back the other day to get a full set. I had an appointment and still had to wait a half an hour before being seated. This would be only slightly annoying if there weren't two girls who work there sitting wearing their headphones and texting. Finally after complaining, after waiting forever, one of the texting girls took me. My entire set came off today. Never going back there again. read more
