Spent an hour on me and the massage... she literally pulled all the stress out down through my toes. It was FABULOUS! Another tech did my mother-in-law's gel dip powder and regular pedi. She usually only gets a pedi-polish change because her legs are very sensitive. The tech and I convinced her to give the full pedi a try and she loved it. Said it was so gentle. Visited in a Friday at 1:30pm w appointment made on Thursday afternoon. Small store, has that old nail salon vibe apparently it used to be a market before it became a nail salon. Furniture looked fairly new. It was busy when I came in. Four nail techs. Getting my nails done is a chores so I can't speak to the "relaxation" of the place. Chairs are comfy. I had two nail techs- regular air dry polish on my toes and acrylic w tips and gel polish on my fingernails. I absolutely loveeeee it. The attention to detail is just what I needed. I have high nail beds so usually w acrylic it looks thick and unnatural but wow it looks so natural, my cuticles are nice and the polish covers every inch of the nail and sealed. Pice was very decent too! About $120 total which is good for a full set and pedi in my opinion. Street parking only but parking shouldn't be too hard to find around here. Hi. I have been going to Star Nails for years now. I love the friendly and uplifting atmosphere, the cleanliness of the salon, and most of all the people who manage it. I have been going to Vee and love her pedicures; she always does a clean, neat and thorough job with my toes and feet. This past weekend I went to see Katie, the new owner, for a full set of nails using dipping powder. Katie brings new nail techniques to the salon (such as the dipping powder technique), and she also does additional services including eyelash extensions, waxing and facials. I love the way my nails came out! Great color (dark blue lagoon color) and they aren't chipping or cracking at all. I give Star Nails 5 stars! If there was an option for 0 stars, that's what I would rate this salon. The service my friend and I received was by far the worst I have ever experienced in my many years of getting my nails done. I went for a pedicure, and a full dip set. My friend went for her first full dip set. While getting my pedicure, that lasted the most of 15 minutes maybe less. My pant legs were pulled just above my ankle getting my leggings wet. Typically you relax and enjoy the massage chair when getting a pedicure. I had a nail technician forcing me to start working on my full dip set standing up next to the massage chair. She literally did a rushed, far from what a professional job would be. Dipped my nails while in the massage chair. How could you possibly do a proper job like that? My toes were pained with gel with nail-polish left on the sides of my toenails. There is was no leg massage or scrub. I had shown a picture of what I wanted done to my nails along with verbally explaining. The colors were off, the nail art wasn't neat, the gems placed on one side of the nail, each nail a different length. Once my nails were accordingly finished, I was asked for the payment about 3 times in less than a minute while searching for my wallet. My friend's nails were also far from what she asked. The nail art was supposed to be cheetah, If she didn't say something the nail tech was only going to leave polka dots on the nails. The request for the gem design was completely disregarded and the tech did whatever she felt like. She then asked my friend over and over for payment as she was just gathering her things to the point I paid for her to stop the harassment for the payment. I paid $130 for a full dip set and a pedicure. I tipped both techs graciously although disappointed. I've never spent more than maybe $100 at any other salon. My friend was charged $80. Our nails have not lasted more than a little over one week before falling off, cracking, and just falling apart. dip set normally lasts around 3-4 weeks. I'm just baffled that it's been a week and half and we have to go get completely new full sets. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON. They clearly don't care about the customers, nor the service the provide. I personally want a refund. read more

Ultimately they were not able to produce the look I wanted using dip, which would have been nice to know from the beginning, and took over 2hrs between failed attempts and making me wait despite having an appt. I have been going to Star Nails for YEARS. The owner (her name is escaping me at the moment) is super friendly, and does her best to fit me in even when I call/run in last minute. Their prices are competitive, the place is clean and there's never that big of a wait - what more could you ask for? Plus, if you're a multi-tasker like me, you'll love the fact that there's a Brigham's and a tanning salon next door (in either direction) and a UPS store across the street. I love Star Nails. Not because its some fancy spa, or it has decor like being at Bella Sante on newbury, but because of the nail techs there. It is a family oriented atmosphere, once you start going, you become a part of their family. I know about their kids, they know about my life, etc. Its a place you start going to and 20 years later you bring in your own kids, or grandkids to get their nails done too.
