Horrible experience with the current owner! I posted a review because my gift card was not honored when I went in for service on July 3. The owner lied in her reply to the review about the gift card I am referring to not having been one of theirs because they had never issued such a gift card. I had previously been told by the tech who serviced me that they would not honor it because it was issued by the previous owner. The card had no expiration date, and it was only a little over a year old. She also said there was no record of me being there. I reached out to her via the FB, and she said I could come in to clear it up. I did that today. After some explaining, she gave me a cash refund, but she had said I would have to delete my review. I said I would update my review but that I still didn't appreciate the service I had gotten from her and that she should have inquired more instead of suggesting I was lying about my service as she had said multiple times there was no record of it. I walked out, but she and a male worker followed me to my car, telling me that they would call the police if I did not delete my review. She said she followed me to my car because we were not done talking, to which I said we absolutely were because I had gotten my refund, which was my purpose for going. She again said she would call the police if I didn't take down my review, and that there were cameras in there. I asked her to confirm she was threatening me with the police if I didn't delete my review and added that I was recording our audio the entire time. She then said she never said that. Then she said that the issue was that her tech claimed that they never charged me for service that day, and I needed to talk to her tech. That sounds like an issue between them, but I did go back inside. The owner pulled up a copy of my receipt from the date of service. She kept talking about needing to give me some type of receipt, but I didn't need one? She also kept saying she needed proof that I was charged, while she had the copy of the receipt in her hand. Then she said she needed the last 4 numbers of the credit card I had used, which I told her multiple times was on the copy of the transaction from my bank that I had already showed her (and she had taken a picture of it.) I had also already given it to her verbally, but I gave her to her again. She started saying she wanted me to give her the cash refund back and that she would refund me to my credit card instead, to which I said no because she had handed me the cash refund already, and I absolutely did not trust her at this point. She eventually gave me "permission" to leave and asked me to never come back. Done deal - and I don't encourage anyone else to return either. read more

I walked in yesterday to look into a manicure for my wife and pedicures for each of us for today. Her Birthday is around the corner and I wanted to give her an early birthday treat. First time stopping into this spot since moving to the area. There is a 20% off sale currently, because they are Under New Management, and are managing this place wonderfully. The hospitality we received was welcoming in a way that made you feel comfortable and well taken care of. I would recommend this spot to those in the area as a "go-to" and to those close enough to venture out a bit further for or stop in if you're just passing through or visiting. The staff takes their time, yet are efficient and really take care of you. Their work is top notch, and it looks great! For those that are on their feet a lot like me and enjoy a pedicure occasionally, it was perfect. Restorative, and relaxing all at the same time. For my wife, it was also very restorative and relaxing. The color selection is great, and the gel nails are going to be perfect for her with upcoming work, social, and family events coming up. The Manager/Owner(?) made an appointment with me for 9:30 which is as soon as they opened, and they were ready for us and started getting to work. They have a menu of complimentary drinks, and my wife enjoyed a mimosa and we each had a bottle of water. There is a single person restroom just past the chairs that is private and clean. They worked on my wife's nails while she received her pedicure, since it was early and we were the first in. This saved us time in our day and was super helpful. The pricing is fair, and is worth it. Their work is a great value for the price. No sacrifices or short cuts. The staff listens to you and will make you feel pampered, while comfortable. Whether it's adjusting your water temperature in the tub, or changing your color choice a few time over before choosing one, asking to listen to something on the radio, or watch something specific on the TV. No pressure, great atmosphere, the owner even told me after my pedicure was done and I was waiting for them to finish with my wife's color on her nails, "you can stay in your chair if you're comfortable, stay all day! Haha" The chairs are large and super comfortable, very simple to use and give a nice massage of which you can adjust the pressure. I am 6'4 and the chair was large enough for someone larger than me, but didn't swallow up my wife who is 5'6. We will be back, and this will more than likely become that neighborhood spot we come to when you need your nails done or a pedicure. read more

Under new management I am very impressed. It's my 5th time here. Parking can be a challenge but they do have some reserved spaces if the Eagles Nest customers don't steal them or park over the lines. Place is clean and freshly remodeled. It is a small place but never crowded and I never have to wait especially when I call ahead. Owner is so interactive and and friendly. On my first visit I was offered egg rolls in addition to a beverage!! Staff is very friendly as well and one of them recognized me and thanked me for returning. I initially tried this place out because Eagle nails went up on their prices by about 10.00 for dipped fingernails. I continued to go with the price increase because overall they did a good job. However, the last time there they did not listen to me and gave my granddaughter regular polish instead of gel toenails and they did not apologize for getting it wrong. What nail places need to realize is nail places are on every corner now so if a customer is not happy we will go somewhere else. Excellent service and good manners are a must! I guess the fact that there wasn't a single other customer in there and that there was only one person working should have tipped me off. I got a pedicure and dip manicure, which usually can be done at the same time but not if only one person is working. So I was there for two hours. The lady didn't attempt to make any conversation with me. She filed my skin more than my nails and cut me multiple times on my feet and hands. She was very rough to the point that I asked her to please be careful because she was hurting my thumb. She ignored me without saying a word and continued being rough. No drink offered the entire time. I left with a mess on my hands, cuts, and uneven nails. I just hope her tools were clean so I don't end up with an infection. Won't ever be returning. read more

My first time going to Star Nail and to be honest I thought was going to be a good experience. I will say they were nice but what made me not want to go back was being cut 3 different time. I was cut on my toe while getting my pedicure and on 2 different fingers while filing my nails. Not once did the two ladies say, "I'm sorry". I decided to try this place again 4 years later. No improvement. Worst service ever. The gentleman at the desk was unhelpful and unknowledgable about gel manicures. He sat me in a chair where I sat for 30 minutes without water in the bowl. The lady who finally came to do my pedicure could not get my request right after I said it three different times. Never ever again will I go here or recommend anyone here. 3 weeks ago I went here for the very first time I thought I'd try it out. I always have went to a different place. They said they could help cut out ingrown toenails I had and now I got a bad infection that required a procedure more then likely from the tools not being sanitary enough the doctor told me. The doctor had to numb both my big toes and cut out what needed to be cut out and remove the pus I had in both my toes. I have been in pain and can't even currently wear anything but sandals that don't touch my toes. doctor also told me by law they are not even legally allowed to try and cut out ingrown toe nails they have to deny it because it is considered a medical issue. The lady who did my pedicure said she could but when I left they hurt worse and were really inflamed and irritated. I went here today instead of my usual place as it's closer to home and my normal place has been taking forever since this area has grown so much. Needless to say I am super happy. Helen did my dip nails and they are PERFECT! I've been getting my nails done forever with the dip amd when I've strayed from my normal place in the past I've been disappointed. Not this time though. She was fast and made then look great....which is good because for $40 I'd say it's fair to expect that they look good. They were very nice too. Let's start with the employees. They are rude to new customers, only treat the long time customers with respect. They say complimentary beverage at your visit and they only offer you something to drink if they feel like it. The colors they have on display for gel polish, they don't even have half of them. Most of them are old and need to be thrown out. They take such a long time to do your nails. I went in for a gel manicure (I already presoaked my polish off at home because they charge you to take it off!) and it literally took an hour and a half for a gel manicure. They have this new guy in there that filed my nails super short and slanted and drilled my nails so thin! He continued to use this old polish on my nails that was not working and eventually had to drill the polish off because my nail polish looked like an ombre gone wrong! Burned my fingers and made my nails so thin! Then had the nerve to try and charge me $35!!! I also had a pedicure and the one lady in the back right corner was rushing super fast (no one was even waiting) and she stabbed my toe with her tool. I couldn't even relax after that. I also asked for a French and to use the french pink; she literally made me get up and find the color myself. They are rude, over priced and slow. I do not recommend them and I will not be going back. I gave them lots of chances to prove me wrong and they failed me once again. Also, they have a 20% off services sign out front.. don't let this fool you! They jacked the prices up then discounted them, so you aren't saving any money! read more

Horrible experience! I went in for an SNS manicure. It is also called a dip manicure where your nail is dipped in powder. I told the nail tech and owner I was in a hurry and could not stay for over an hour. They agreed to take me and the place was dead. Over an hour and a half later I had to tell the tech to just wrap it up. I have never had a dip manucure last so long! This does not include adding tips nor does it include drying. THE TECH WAS JUST SO SLOW!! She also wanted to cut my nails with one clip which hurt! I eventually told her I would cut my own nails after telling her three times!! When I arrived the owner took me to one tech, they laughed, then took me to another tech. This made me feel very uncomfortable. Lastly when it was time to pay I gave them a $5 coupon they provided me the first time I went that said 'spend $35 or more get $5 off. This manicure was charged for $40 and my coupon was denied!! The owner just kept saying 'already discount already discount' so I paid $40 and I WILL NEVER RETURN! read more

My experience at Star Nails is always a positive one. Tammi is very welcoming and professional. I've been getting my gel fills/pedicures there for about a year now every 2 weeks and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I specifically can remember one Friday night going in there close to closing time and Tammi made it a point to still make me feel welcome and comfortable. They are hard workers there. One great thing about Star Nails on Boat Club is they give you a reward card, meaning after 8 times of coming you receive an incentive. It's very rewarding for the customer. The prices are reasonable and the service is always on point. Kevin is really good with fills as well and Nikki gives the best pedicures. There's a donut shop, tanning salon, liquor store and Eagles Nest aka a bar right next to it. read more

This was my worst nail experience ever. I got dip nails and a pedicure. The tech broke my natural nail and without talking to me about it almost cut it off with the nail clippers. The nails are too thick but I can deal with it for a few weeks. She left a lot of gummed up product from the last set under my nails AND on my skin. Not something I'd normally complain about but almost every finger was affected. I was told to go to the pedicure chair by a different tech after mine told me to stay put. Even when I told her, she insisted it was fine. I was unable to wash my hands and had powder on my fingers. I ended up using the unused pedicure water to rinse my hands and had to ask the man doing my pedi if it was possible to get some hand lotion. I saw him tell the nail tech but he ended up letting me use some intended for my pedi because she still hadn't come after several minutes. Eventually she came by with oil. During my pedicure he used a VERY OBVIOUSLY used pumice utensil (all the files were obviously used from the mani and pedi both but, even though it's illegal, it's a common practice in nail salons... but this tool was more than usual). He then rinsed it off in the draining pedicure water while my feet were still in it. He did this with the filter as well (he was not the only tech to do this while I was there). When I tried to remove my feet from the water he grabbed my ankle and put it back in the water. So weird and so nasty. He then burned me with the temperature of the paraffin wax because he didn't let it cool at all or rub the outside of the bag on my foot to allow me to adjust. His massage and polish were the only redeeming qualities but they were not enough. I will never return. I wish I could give a 1/2 star. I am not usually the negative review type of person but this experience was enough for me to actually sign up for yelp just so I could leave it. read more

I've gone here, here and there since around Christmas. One of the first times here they gave me a 5 off coupon. I forgot about it in my wallet until I had cleaned it out last week. I figured I'd use it and go get my nails done before our vacation. When I gave it to the tech she said she had to go ask her manager and went in the back room. They came back together both looking upset. The manager quickly told me very rudely that the card was expired. The expiration date said: Expires January, 31, 20___. The year was blank, and I know for a fact I checked it of course twice, once when I found it in my wallet and once again before giving to the tech. However, when the tech took the coupon back in the back to get the manager they wrote in with pen a 5. So, they quickly added the WRONG year. Not even a 15, just 5. And said see, expire. And I said no, you just wrote that in, and she said no no and I said yes but what ever. I wipe my ass with 5 bucks. I could careless about the 5 dollars. It shows they have no morals or principles. They are defiantly rude and shady. If they are this dishonest about a 5 dollar coupon, what else are they hiding?? I def don't want to find out. I posted about this on Facebook as well and I had someone else tell me they had gotten an infection in their finger after getting a manicure there!! Gross.
