This place has the best donuts in town. My seven year old loves their donut holes, which go pretty fast so I recommend calling ahead of time if holes are your go to. I have tried all with the exception of their filled donuts and can't find one bad thing to say about them. The bread part of the donut is light and airy unlike the dry thick greasy donuts I had tried pretty much everywhere else before coming here. I am not a huge donut fan, but I absolutely love Star Donuts. They are always so fresh and taste like rings from heaven I also appreciate their willingness to quickly make a filled donut if they are out by the time we get there. They are also super easy to work with. I needed donuts for a baby shower I was throwing for my sister and simply called in to place a larger order. I had to leave a message, and never heard anything back, so decided to call the night before to verify that they received it. Sure enough, they had it and told me they would be ready at the time I needed them. We picked up our order and the donuts were fresh and delicious, as usual. I have worked with a lot of people while planning different events, and they are, by far, the easiest I've ever worked with. Tried this place for the first time today. I took the wife and son for Doughnuts and what a gem this place is. First the place is super clean, second and more importantly the Doughnuts are made fresh daily and you can tell. The wife had a maple bar, the kid had his usual sprinkles, myself I had the old fashioned chocolate and a apple fritter. Everyone loved the Doughnuts they were fantastic, but the apple fritter was amazing probably the best apple fritter I've ever had. The ladies running the place were just as sweet as the Doughnuts, so friendly and talkative simply loved this place and experience. I highly recommend you try them if you haven't already. read more

I visited Star Donuts for the first time today! I just moved to Lodi and heard good things about this shop. I got there at 6 when they just opened. I wanted two dozen donuts. When I went in, I noticed there wasn't many donuts out yet! I asked them when they would have all the donuts out, they said on 45 to 50 minutes! Not a good way to service your customers! When you say you open at 6, you should have all your donuts out for purchase! I went to another local donut shop, and was very pleased! To be honest, I'm not a donut fanatic or big giver of 5 star ratings, but this place deserves it & my sick father requested some-- so of course I had to check out the place with the best rating. The lady was super nice as I waited for me to help my father figure out how to open his text messages for 45 minutes & offered to put cream filling in the one of choice since they ran out of chocolate bars. In the end I had to come back later for his order after I had paid for mine, but by the time I got back they didn't have much left & she gave me his order on the house (as I'm sure I looked like I was going insane, as he's a terminal cancer patient). This is the place that my employers constantly bring in boxes of donuts from as treats. I was craving maple bars and decided to head that way after a night of insomnia. I met a friend there who was also dealing with a sleepless night, and was craving a donut. I got there a few minutes before they officially opened, but the Open sign was on and the employees were busily bringing out racks of donuts and putting them on display. It smelled divine inside. Not all of the products are available right at opening: I was told the bars (maple and chocolate) wouldn't be ready for another 40 minutes. I ordered two maple donuts, as they were just coming up from the back area. I grabbed myself a bottle of milk from the fridge near the register; my friend ordered a coffee and they asked her if she wanted room for cream (she did). They have several different bottles of creamer in the little fridge. Donuts were warm, fluffy and delicious. I slowly nibbled them while we sat in the dining area and chatted. Watched people come in, order donuts, get quickly served and left. Finally, the bars came out. I ordered two maple and one chocolate to go, so I could eat them later. Are all Donut places owned by Asians in the Central Valley? It seems so... What I had today... Ran out of both Sugar and Glazed Donuts... surprising! Coconut encrusted Glazed Donut (*** $0.75) A pretty fresh Donut, but the most expensive of all the Donut places in Lodi for a "Plain-Jane" Donut. Filled Maple Bar (** 1/2 $0.95 + $0.25 for filling) The Donut place with the most variety of Fillings... Lemon, Custard, and Raspberry. The counter person tried as hard as he could to fill the Maple Bar... but after I got it... it looked liked it had been "fondled" a lot. You have to teach your people how to "gently" fill the bars without it looking like it had been "messed with" (attempt at humor...). large Coffee (** 1/2 $1.50) When did Farmer's Coffee begin advertising itself as a "Premium" Coffee. Pretty expensive compared to everyone else in Lodi. Ca$h preferred, because if you want to use plastic it'll cost you $1.00 more. I met an interesting person today while consuming Donuts at Star... A woman about my age who was a former Principal of a Lodi Elementary School, who had to resign her position, after just two years, because of an Aneurysm (weakening and rupturing of Arteries in her brain). The Aneurysm caused a loss of memory of four years and short-term memory loss currently in her present physical state. The short-term memory loss is severe enough where she has to write down events on the palm of her hand that she had to do and have done during the day. A very courageous person, because she still has a son just beginning High School. When a vendor brought these to my work recently, there were a few of my favorite kinds in the box so I decided to calorically splurge and try them. Buttermilk bar - one of my all-time faves when I do eat donuts - Star Donuts does them RIGHT! Soft and fluffy on the inside with amazing flavor. The old-fashioned was also so well-done. All the donuts from Star Donuts that I tried left no nasty greasy coating in my mouth or lingering bad aftertaste as I have experienced from other donut places in the past. If and when I do crave donuts, I would go out of my way to get them from here and that is saying a lot since usually donuts don't do much for me. We found Star Doughnuts on our recent trip through town and we are so glad we did. The raised glazed doughnuts are amazing! We have never had doughnuts that are so light and fluffy, don't have that oil taste and aren't too sweet. We tried others kinds, but the simple raised glazed were our favorite.
