My son has been a patient of theirs for a few years. At first, they were pretty good. The dentist himself, is fine. The young ladies he has now in the front are the most unprofessional people I've ever had to communicate with. When you walk in there's about 4 of them sitting at the front desk on their phones, super long nails, unhelpful, bad attitude (you know the type). Whenever I need assistance I have to call at least 4-5 times before someone will call me back. In Feb, they refused to call me back so I had to take a lunch break and walk in. I sent them an email asking if there was a reason I was being discriminated against and then they called one minute later. This place is ghetto. Please dont bring your precious babies here read more

We finally found a dentist that actually cares after trying several dentist throughout Sacramento area we found Star Dental and Dr. Nand now we won't go anywhere else he is fantastic takes the time to tell you all about what he is going to do what he can do for you and let you know it's refreshing to get a dentist that tells you the truth and is actually in this to help you! I highly recommend star dental on Mission Ave., Carmichael. Specifically Dr. NAND, he is an amazing dentist. He's very good with his patients and really puts you at ease. He explains everything so that you understand thoroughly what's going on and has a very calming reassuring way. They are a little busy right now so it could take a couple weeks to get an appointment, but I always get in pretty quickly and on time for my appointments without much waiting at all if any. This place is a joke. The dentist is very obviously there to get you in and out as quickly as possible and it shows in his work. I went in for two fillings and after he filled them I told him that my bite was off and he said just to give it a while to settle. The other filling was left with a jagged edge that I could feel when running my tongue over it. The dentist said that if it still felt off after the numbing agent wore off that he would get me in to fix it right away. He was very dismissive when I was trying to explain that something was off. I called the next day and the receptionist said that she couldn't get me in to correct my bite or the other filling for over a month. I told her the dentist told me he would fix it so I asked to speak to him. She put me on hold and hung up on me. I called back at least six times and they never answered my phone again. These people are very unprofessional and I'll never go back here again. I suggest going elsewhere for dental work. read more

First visit to this office, they were friendly and cooperative. We lost our way and got there about 17 minutes late but tye dentist was really nice and told them it's ok. One thing I told them about that needs their attention is their phone system. Sometimes it takes you to a generic voice message similar to he one you would hear when you call a person not a business which was strange. I was so happy after a broken tooth brought me to Dr. Nand. At last- 2 1/2 months after initial breakage, due to getting approval then appointments weeks out. While avoiding chewing on that side, I broke a 20+ year old cap on the other side soon after. Got right in as an emergency and Dr. started the process. The receptionist called me 3 x in 6 weeks to tell me my claim was denied. I called Access Dental to discover the office had not responded to requests for corrected x-rays to see entire tooth. Finally, insurance rep. had them re- Xray tooth on the date scheduled to install cap. The Dr. yelled at me for asking what was going on with the submittal. He was screaming at me, the lady I was talking to at Access Dental was not a dentist. Is she a Dentist? He repeated numerous times at the top of his voice. It was my fault that my tooth goes all the way up to my sinus and it was in the x-ray? They aren't reading it right. Then they sent it in without a name on it. Continued to submit incorrectly unapologetically. Goodluck with this one. read more

I do not usually write reviews, but it is so difficult to find a good dentist that I feel I should share my experience. I have been a patient of Dr. Nand at Star Dental for about two years now. It should be noted that their office has changed locations. The current location is 6855 Fair Oaks Blvd. #800 Carmichael, CA 95608. I am currently 39 and had not been to the dentist since my early to mid-20s. My teeth had been consistently falling apart for 10-15 years. Although I wanted to continue to avoid the dentist, largely based on my past experiences, I forced myself to because I knew I would soon lose all of my teeth due to my negligence. I honestly cannot speak enough about how much I love (as much as someone can LOVE a dentist visit) Star Dental, Dr. Nand, and his always friendly staff (which do appear to all be women, but they are all super friendly, and courteous!). Even though my teeth were/are all kinds of bad from my entire life of mistreatment with my dental health, no one at Star Dental ever made me feel self conscious. On the real, I have never waited more than 15 minutes in the lobby before being seen (usually it is more like 5 minutes). Dr. Nand was always been straight up with me while still showing his empathy and compassion for the state my teeth were in. I never experienced any unnecessary pain or discomfort during any of my visits. The dentist always made me feel like I could ask questions, I was never rushed out of the office or made to feel like I was a bother. My experience with Star Dental has taken away my life long fear of dentists. I now go for regular check ups and take better care of my teeth. Importantly, since I no longer feel the need to avoid the dentist, I know I will no longer avoid any tooth care that needs attention. In case anyone is wondering, I ended up needing 10-15 teeth removed (Star Dental did not preform this procedure, I was referred), followed by Dr. Nand fitting me with perfectly fitting partial dentures (covered by my insurance). I now just see him for regular check ups. Not only do I feel comfortable with a dental visit, I can also smile without embarrassment! I just hope I never move and have to find a new dentist, this is going to be hard to beat!~ read more

Since my initial experience with Star Dental, I subsequently searched for a new dentist, and through a friend-referral found Sac Dentist on Garfield Avenue in Sacramento. Sac Dentist contacted me back immediately to make an appointment, and in addition, they were so friendly over the phone that I was taken back a little after dealing with Star Dental's awful experience. Unfortunately, Sac Dentist isn't covered with my current insurance, but at this point, I would gladly pay my hard earned cash then deal with substandard care and customer service. I would definitely recommend Sac Dentist on Garfield to anyone looking for a new dentist in the Carmichael / Arden / Sacramento area. read more

The team is so nice and Dr Nand has dedicated so much effort into restoring my smile in just 4 months time while working with my crappy insurance as best as he can. I'm forever grateful! First off let me start by saying the old reviews are just that OLD reviews they have a new Dentist in the office and he is great! Very informative and quick the assistance starting from the front desk to the back office are all great and were very patient with us. I brought my kids in and myself I was skeptical with what I read on the reviews but once I was there it was fine. This is by far the worst dental practice I have been to. Calling to make an appt can take DAYS as they don't regularly answer the phone. Have to call over and over, it takes me an average of calling 12-15 times just to get someone on the phone. The receptionist is the rudest I've encountered. She is short and will lose her temper over even the smallest of questions. Twice I have made an appt and they we're running over an hour late. Tried to make a complaint today and she said then just go somewhere else while I was in the middle of talking to her. So I will. read more

The dentist is fine but reception sucks. They literally never answer the phone. CAlled last week to set up and appointment to get a crown after my root canal that was done, no answer. Left a voicemail, no returned call. Have been trying and still can't get through to anyone. Today the phone doesn't even ring, just says out of service, or it says busy. It's literally insane. I chose this location based on proximity, and continued to visit based on them having a hard-working, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. I felt that I was always treated with respect, any questions I had were answered right away or soon as possible, and they are flexible with me and making appointments. in this dentist office I also felt comfortable in an atmosphere that is stereotypically uncomfortable too many. Give them a chance. Also important to note that this is a small location with many many patients, do not give up if you can't reach them via phone after one attempt, leave a message and try again later if they have been able to respond, be patient. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Let me start by saying that I was supposed to get a cleaning but instead the suppose hygienist basically just wipe my front teeth for 2 minutes and called it a cleaning!!!!! You know what that is it's called fraud . Because medical is paying for a full cleaning yet they are not performing the full cleaning to the patient. And they are getting paid . If I were anybody else I wouldn't come here even if you have medical call and try to find someone else they could assign you to..I would never trust this place . ... My tooth cracked and broke and I was able to call and get a same-day appt, regardless of the fact that I had never even been to this dentist before. I was able to come down immediately, the wait was 15-20 minutes at the most and although they were not able to do the molar root canal that I needed (Most GP places don't), they referred me out to an endodontist and put some temporary cement into my tooth to stop the pain until the procedure. The dental hygienist was very sweet and the Dr was personable and had a sense of humor. I'm happy with them. read more

I went in for a check up and a cleaning and was very disappointed. The cleaning by the dentist took about 1 minute. I have never had a cleaning that was so unprofessional and incompetent. Then the assistant took over and again the rest of the cleaning took about 1 more minute and she was definitely a beginner. They have no idea how to schedule. I had set aside two hours of my day for an appointment; I wanted to ensure that I would have enough time to get to work afterwards. An hour was spent waiting in their lobby. I ended up leaving shortly after. I have never waited longer than twenty minutes to see a dentist. Three other people were booked at the same time as me. If I can get ZERO stars I would do it. So here I am, walking in, with a toothache that's killing me. The pain is moving towards my ear and my head. The receptionist, said , if I have this kind of pain, I need to go to the Emergency Room. I asked her if they have dentists at the Emergency Room. She said no. Then I said, why are you sending me there? Are you a doctor? You are assuming based on what I told you, but I am no doctor either, so that's the reason I came here. I told her I will call the dental plant that I am assigned too( I am on Medi-cal by the way) and I will tell them that you refuse to help me. She said we are not refusing. When she saw me, that I sit on a chair and get my phone out to all, she said,, here, fill the paper work,,. I took the paper, filled them out, and asked for copies. They were not happy, let me tell you. They gave me the copies, and I waited , and waited, and finally I was called in. I didn't even saw Dr. Chen. Some dental assistant ( I guess she was a dental assistant, I don't know because she did not recommended herself to me) , took a look at my tooth, left and she came back saying , that is nothing they can do, and they can not remove the tooth ( which is what I was there for) because I have an infection, and I need to take antibiotics for 7 days. I asked her, what am I suppose to eat and drink for 7 days, because my tooth is moving really bad, it hurts to cold and hot. She shrunk her shoulder and said, we didn't took care of your teeth in the past and is nothing we can do. I asked her if they can give me some pain medication, because as of right now, I am taking 1000 mg of alleve just to make the pain bearable. She said she will ask the doctor, but she came back in 2 seconds, with the prescription only for antibiotics. I took the prescription and left. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I don't know where he got his dental degree but he is not a doctor, he is a MONSTER WITH A DEGREE. I mean here I am, in huge pains, asking for help and you kick me to the curve??? I will file a complaint against this doctor with the highest authority. I did not see him, I don't know who he is, but I do know now, how he practices. Meanwhile I am still in pain. There are options, where you have a situation like this, the dentist can put some antibiotics right into the pockets of the gum surrounding your tooth and many many other things, so they can ease the pain. But not this office. They are probably only for easy procedures, so they can bill Medi-cal and get their pockets stuffed with money. Well, is not going to work with me. read more

this place deserves no stars!!! brought my daughter in today to have her cavity filled. i was asked to wait in waiting room. as i was sitting there i heard my daughter scream yelling it hurt, i thought she was being a sissy while they gave her novacaine. no that sob drilled on my 11 year old daughter with no novacaine, she was screaming that it hurt he did not nub her when she refused to open her mouth he and the nurse pried open her mouth. my daughter bit his finger and on top of that the jerk were watching the news i know she is not lying because as she was in the back room there was breaking news on and she said he stopped drilling to watch it. my kid was able to tell me what it was.....keep your children away!!! i will be making a report to the bbb read more

0 Stars would be more appropriate! I called with a dental emergency yesterday and they ran my insurance and made me an appointment for today at 11:30am. Took off work, which I could not afford to do but had to, I went in and there were issues with my insurance not being active so I called and the insurance told her they had fixed it and to see me anyway but the office manager/receptionist said no not without a fax so the insurance faxed them but in the mean time she was very argumentative with me and when I asked for her supervisor's contact information she kept refusing to give it to me stating she hired herself but then said I'd have to speak with Gov Jerry Brown because he hired her. She ended up calling the police on me stating I was irate and making her fear for her safety but I did not. I kept asking for her supervisor's contact information and was in no way acting in an aggressive manner. I did not cuss, raise my voice, nor make threats. I was irritated because of the amount of pain and the lack of help not to mention her blatantly ignoring the insurance telling her to help me but not once did I lose my composure. So I waited for the police to arrive and they agreed she was being difficult and irate and that I should call and report her, which I'm going to do! She also received that fax and threw it away. The police interviewed other people in the office and they also confirmed my side. WILL NEVER RETURN and I highly recommend anyone who is assigned to this dentist by their insurance, change it so you don't have this horrible experience that I had to suffer through. read more

This dental office has to be the worst of the worst. The staff are completely abysmal. How this place has any patients is beyond me. I was shocked they have one patient let alone 10, 000 (apparently the reason why i couldn't get an appointment for almost 3 months). How this team of imbeciles are able to manage that many people is amazing. Having explained to them that my teeth are causing myself great pain and if they had any other options for me (most established places will reserve a few appointment slots per day for patients in my position) the lady responded with 'go take your teeth and find another place to get them fixed'. After politely asking why they had so many patients and would it not make sense not taking any more on, she had a complete moronic meltdown. When i asked to speak with a manager the complete baboon and sorry excuse of a lady informed me that she was the manager. The lady's name is Dawn. The fact that the Doctors of this office had positioned this lady as a manager shows me exactly how incompetent they are and I would never in a million years let such fools near my mouth let alone let them diagnose me. Being a business owner and also knowing how yelp works I am in complete disbelief that these morons would sign up on here knowing how bad they are and knowing full well what kind of comments people will leave on here. I took my son to this dental office and one of the hygienist said to take my son to a specialist cause he has a lot of cavities I said ok I'll do that. A week later I found out from a friend about a real dental hygienist that doesn't lie and is a very good place to take your kids to I called that place and showed them the x-rays and asked the hygienist does the x-rays show any sign of cavities she said no and looked in his mouth and said she found only 2 cavities. When I called this horrible office again I spooked to the receptionist, a young gal with very long blonde hair and she said I'm looking at your son's x-rays and I see cavities. First of all she's stupid she was wrong and she's only a receptionist not a doctor to tell me what my son has. Not only that when I took my daughter cause she had an abstract from running into the wall and hit her gums really bad the stupid hygienist tells me she has the abstract because she has an infection from a cavitie when I told him that'd not true she has it from running into the wall he tried to change the story, it was a young Hispanic hygienist that told me this. My opinion is go get a 3rd opinion on your child's mouth before you do any treatments. When it comes to our children we have to do whatever it takes to make sure they are safe in the hands of a doctor or dentist. I will never take my kids here again. read more
