Doc A is far and away the BEST dentist one can ever have! He provides excellent and compassionate care, gives thorough explanations before and during procedures, and has a disarmingly great sense of humor. Most importantly, when necessary he's an expert at knowing how to give completely painless novocaine injections! I mean, how awful is it to have a needle in your mouth, right? Trust me, no need to fret with him as your dentist. The hygienists, assistants and office staff here are top-notch as well. Everyone is competent, cheerful and friendly making visits here quite pleasant. Finally, I have yet to meet his colleague Dr. Yai but word has it he's terrific too. I've met with Dr. Yai twice and today, he examined me for an infected gum. He was gentle in the exam, provided great advice that was easy to understand, and prepared me for what different types of problem may occur if antibiotics and mouth rinse don't clear up. Dr. Ackerman and his team are top notch. My first experience with their office was in 2012, after an excess of time without proper dental care and maintenance. I also have a history of a pretty severe dental injury, which has to be handled with care. From day one I have felt welcome, comfortable, and encouraged in this office. There has never been judgment for my lack of previous care and flossing abilities, nor for the fact that I went MIA from dental care again for a couple of years due to a hectic schedule and lifestyle. The office is filled with friendly folks who you get to know fairly well and can engage in relaxed and often humorous conversation with. The group is caring, compassionate, and always thinks about the whole picture- from patient desires to finances, timing procedures to take the best advantage of insurance benefits to ensuring that the care options offered will produce the best outcome possible. I have never experienced more tactful administration of dental injections than at his office- Dr. Ackerman takes great care to go slow and steady with the numbing medication, allowing it to numb ahead of the needle, which is significantly more comfortable. Dr. Ackerman also has a vast network of offices and doctors he can refer out to- I have had the pleasure of consulting with a periodontist, orthodontist and endodontist by his referral, as well has having that endodontist perform my first root canal. I have been so impressed with the quality of care and incredible technology each office has available. Care plans for injury and restorative procedures are extensive, planned well in advance and spelled out so that you not only know what to expect and when, but also include an approximation of the total costs including insurance benefits. Being a long term patient of Dr. Ackerman's office makes you feel invested and encourages you to do your part in caring for your oral health. If you do your part by making it to appointments, not no-showing, practicing good hygiene, and moving forward with care plans, you will see fantastic results with their direction, assistance, and care along the way. There is no better dentist office than Dr. Ackerman's office; in fact, his office is not even in my network with my insurance, but I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. I was looking for a dentist for my daughter who was having some pain and I came across Dr. Ackerman who had such great reviews. From the moment I called and spoke to Laura, i already felt comfortable and welcomed to the office. She got my daughter in the next day. Once we got to the office, everyone was so friendly. Dr. Ackerman came out to introduce himself and said he would see my daughter after her xray was taken. Sarah took my daughters xray and was also very kind. So, this is a story about the worlds best dental staff, the doc himself included. 2 weeks ago, I was called away to a family emergency in NY. My father was sick from the flu and had lapsed into a coma. While sitting in the ICU, holding his hand and losing my mind, I began to grind my teeth (from the stress) and while sleeping one night (and during one of the few hours of sleep I got), I managed to knock loose one of my crowns and SWALLOWED it. I called and made an appointment for the following Monday since the ICU staff said that my father would be in that condition for weeks and I should go home, and so - my family and I made a plan. No less than 10 hours after I returned to CA, my father took a turn for the worse. I hopped on a plane and while en route to the airport, my father died. He was 60 years old, and died from the flu. Needless to say, I was/am a wreck. I forgot to call and cancel my appointment until late Sunday night and I am pretty sure I left the saddest voicemail ever on Tracy's phone. A week later, after the services and everything else, I returned home. I called to reschedule and the first availability was not for another week. So. I reserved my spot and hung up. Within 3 minutes, Tracy called me back. The doc and his magnificent assistant Marcie, would work through their lunch the next day to get me in. I could have cried right then. When I came in for my appointment, and this was the first "normal" thing I had done since my Dad died. It felt raw and weird and I sat in that chair, and cried. Marcie just handed me tissues, and let me pull it together and the Dr. Ackerman came in and just went with it without making me feel silly or pathetic. Although this whole thing has been awful, this staff -- tracy, marcie, doc, everyone -- they just made it seem like it was okay to be sad but they just wanted to make it a little easier. If you are looking for a place, this is where you go. I live now 45 mins away from here but I will never leave. They take care of you - and that is rare. (And as amazing as they are, they also have this machine that sculpted my new crown on site and I got it all done and finished in 2 hours. So, there is that too. ) read more

I found each to be courteous, professional, knowledgeable, informative, gentle and respectful. Dr. Ackerman explained my treatment options precisely and effectively. The crown procedure I required was completed, start to finish, in a single appointment of less than 3hours, including a 30 minute break near the end while my porcelain crown was being formed. Technically, my crown is ideal. The contour and contact to the adjacent and opposing teeth are ideal. My "bite" is perfect and comfortable. My new crown was designed to fit intimately to my existing removable orthodontic appliance as well.
