I saw other reviews mentioning that someone else is turning this office into the Dental Board. Well, that makes two of us. They overcharged me $650 for Zoom whitening during $4k worth of extensive dental work. If you don't believe me, look at Ashley B.'s review and how thrilled she was with this office--that's me! I got locked out of my other Yelp account, so here is the real view of how this office works. Even though they helped me overcome my dental phobia, they refused to be honest with billing. I requested a superbill that I could submit to my medical insurance because they actually would have covered my anesthesia as "medically necessary." My medical insurance company confirmed this! However, I never received that superbill. I only found out they owed me $650 because, during my last cleaning, I asked what my co-pay was. The receptionist was shocked when she looked at her screen; it turns out I had a $650 credit for Zoom whitening I never received! The office manager told me I would have my refund by the end of the month. I never got it, and I still never got my superbill. There is a strict timeline for when you have to submit these bills to insurance for reimbursement, and thanks to their delays, I am now past that deadline. To top it off, Dr. Lam is no longer there--she was awesome. The new doctor is just as dishonest as the management. She sold me MI Paste (which I'm allergic to as it contains dairy). During my next cleaning, even my hygienist was confused as to why they had me buy a $25 tube of toothpaste I didn't even need! I told her I used Sensodyne and my sensitivity was fine; I didn't need a $25 bottle of toothpaste I can't even use. This office, which I thought was wonderful and referred MANY people to, practices dirty business. Best of all, they dropped out of my Delta Care network the second they got hit with the complaint I sent to the Dental Board and two other government agencies. That timing is too coincidental, don't you think? Well, hopefully, after this office reads my review--since they already know the heat is on them--I might "magically" get my refund and superbill in the mail. I can not and will not recommend this place. Actually I'm going to report this practice to the Dental board. My best advice to anyone seeking a dentist, DON'T GO HERE!! They were trying to force me to have laser treatment. I was going in for a Deep cleaning and I declined the laser treatment. I had laser treatment yrs ago and I got sinus infection for 3 weeks. I'm the sole income so it was a financial hardship for me. I expressed this concern to Redford Dental office and they said you do it or you won't get Deep cleaning done. Mind you, they did do a deep cleaning done a month ago without doing the laser treatment. Plus communication between office and patient is rather lacking. I came in January for teeth cleaning and I was told I need a deep cleaning not just a regular cleaning. The last time I was there, hygienist said I was doing good and come back in for another teeth cleaning. The office manager was real rude. I called back later in 2 weeks, they talked to me and apologized for the office manager's rudeness. The day of the appointment I was again told to come for a teeth cleaning, next I'm told nope you need a deep cleaning. So by now, twice the communication from the Redford Dental office was rude and lacking to let the patient know. I told them then that I'm declining any laser treatment for future. I got a call from Redford Dental last night stating that Dr. REDFORD is doing the laser treatment. I called the office to inform them that I'm refusing the laser treatment and they said we can't do deep cleaning then. I mentioned that they didn't do it the last time and asked why I was being forced to have a treatment I declined and gave valid reasons. They stated that my teeth are probably worse now than before and this was over the phone. How can they assume my teeth are bad without looking at them???? AGAIN DO NOT GO HERE!! I liked how my first appointment was a consultation with X-rays. My next appointment was a cleaning and then the real work began. my next appointment was a crown, two extractions and an implant. I put my headphones on listened to some music while Dr Redford worked. I cannot recommend this office . I originally switched over to Redford Dental Care because they accepted my dental insurance and I thought it would save me some money. After nine months with this office I lost confidence in the quality of work I was receiving and returned to my previous dentist. Yesterday , the bottom acrylic partial that Redford Dental made for me less than a year ago broke apart. I was told at the time I made the decision to get a partial that it should last three to five years. When I called the office this morning I was told that it is only guaranteed for thirty days and I would have to pay to get it fixed or replaced. If I could give them 10 stars or more I would! I have debilitating dental anxiety and haven't seen one is 5 years. Well, I knew I would have to eventually see a dentist because I didn't go on a regular basis for cleanings and check up's and prob needed work done. And, I wanted to get work done before I started having oral pain, because I have horrendous PTSD from when I got my wisdom teeth removed in my mid 20s from a quack at access dental! That was the most painful experience of my life, even more painful than childbirth and several major surgeries I've had. I've always been self conscious about my teeth and Dr.Lam made sure that if I was going to face my fears and get work done that we were going to make my old caps even better than before! (They were 15 year old caps on my 4 front teeth, so they weren't looking so good, def time for them to be re-done.) But, I had to get crowns to fix them and I also had 5 cavities I needed filled. Dr. Lam and the entire staff are amazing with handling patients with dental anxiety! I was told by two other dentist that I was going to have to be completely put out with IV sedation because my fear was so bad. Well I couldn't afford $800 an hour for anesthesia for six hours of work! But this office offers oral sedation. I was EXTREMELY skeptical that it wouldn't work because my anxiety is so terrible I'm actually disabled because of it. But, oral sedation is much more budget friendly! So, I figured what the heck I'll try it. Well, it worked!!! I got all my work done in one session and it only took 4 hours to do 5 fillings and 4 temp crowns. That's impressive! Also the next day and the day of if I barely had any discomfort! in fact my experience was so amazing, I'm no longer afraid of dental work! When I go to get my perm crowns I'm not even afraid of the shots anymore, because they didn't hurt and I won't need sedation because of my positive experience. And, Dr. Lam is very gentle because like I said minimal pain! If you're terrified of the dentist or know of someone who is, THIS IS THE OFFICE YOU WANT TO GO TO! Heck, I'd drive an hour or more to go there if I had too! And, I don't like driving... Let's just say they will be seeing me for now on every 6 mo! Seriously that's a miracle coming from me. I had to find a new local dentist and came across Redford Dental. I had submitted an online inquiry which had gone unanswered due to website issues, so I called the dental office to tell them. The staff was fun, sarcastic, and made the issue non-existent, which didn't take away from my personal experience as a patient. Plus, I don't let little things like this bother me because I understand things happen. Since this time, I've remained a patient with Redford Dental and their team is wonderful. I love their personalities, you're treated like a friend rather than a patient. I just had (more) dental work done yesterday (6/29) and the dentist went into overtime tending to me far beyond closing time. He had a headache from a long day but still pushed through his work. It was appreciated. Thank you for this. The dental building looks a little weird from the outside but the office is clean and staff is always welcoming. I enjoy my visits to the dentist in general because I'm not afraid of the dentist like other people are. I find dental work to be relaxing (or sometimes ticklish) most of the time (I know, I'm weird) with the exception of the after pain once numbing wears off, but this also depends on the dentist and office you choose that determines your experience. So I loved this place before they added the new Dentist Dr. Lam. But now I love it even more. Desiree the receptionist is so great and kind. And Dr. Lam is the best dentist I have ever had. She is professional with a sprinkle of fun! You can tell she loves her job. She was through and did great work. Usually when I get a new crown it feels funny at first. But not with her. My husband and I wanted to find a new dentist since we both haven't been seen in a while. We are a one car household, so I specifically scheduled our appointments on the same day. I asked over the phone if it would be possible to do an exam and cleaning on the same day, and I was assured that would be possible. We were rescheduled with fairly short notice (the morning before our appointment) and we had to schedule another month out. When we were seen a month later, we waited for over 20 minutes in the waiting room, given a quick exam with no cleaning, and told to schedule this separately. Because of this delay, we were unable to schedule anything together until July. My husband was also given a referral for having his wisdom teeth out, even though those teeth have not presented any issues. Overall, a very frustrating experience. read more

This afternoon I went to Redford Dental to inquire on dental service and it was the worst customer service and encounter. I walked in an office that is in need of a major makeover. I stood behind a woman who was talking to a receptionist with blond hair (I don't know the names because this was my first time there), the receptionist failed to acknowledge me and looked over to a coworker and gave her a shoulder nudge and a smirk to help me. The least the blond haired receptionist could have said, 'we'll be right with you.' I guess I didn't meet her customer profile. I felt completely out of place because of that instant unpleasant greeting. Then, the second receptionist stated, 'I'm so sorry, how can I help you.' As she's speaking to me, there was a dog going back and forth on the counter causing complete distraction to even begin to say what I was there for. The receptionist apologizes for the distraction and sets the dog on the floor. She explains to me it was a service dog. Yet there was no proper id on the dog (no collar) or service dog vest. How is a new customer to know its a service dog and why would you want a dog prancing in a medical environment where cleaning and procedures are taking place? I work in the medical industry and I appreciate pet healing, but this is not the environment. Perhaps in a separate room where patients can go into after treatment if they need pet therapy would be a better solution, not right out in the front. Plus, what if a new patient walks in and has severe pet allergies? Then I lean in to speak because the blond receptionist and customer were still talking to each other (seemed like a personal chat) giving no patient privacy. As I lean forward, I see a to go box full of food tucked behind the computer desk. Its was gross. I mentioned what I was there for to the second receptionist. She gave me the information and I quickly bolted out! I have been in the medical industry for 20 years from bedside care, health care management, and now account manager to several Sacramento/Bay Area clients and this office was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE! If they can't do the simple things that give first impression right, why go there? I highly recommend going elsewhere if you want a clean and welcoming environment. read more

I met Dr.Davey , very professional but also very friendly and easy to talk to, we went over my dental issues after his exam, and he talked with me about some of my concerns. For as long as I can remember, we had dental insurance and received cleanings every six months. Recently, we changed our dental insurance and picked Redford Dental as our dentist. When my wife went for her first cleaning, they took some X-rays, the dentist examined her teeth, and then came back with a long list of items that she needed--3 crowns, zirconia veneers, and six resin composites. Then, they sent us for the cleaning. The hygienist looked at my wife's mouth and told her she needed a deep cleaning because she has gingivitis. My wife told her she gets a cleaning every six months, flosses every night, uses a Waterpik, and brushes her teeth, so how could she get gingivitis? The hygienist simply replied that the doctor said her gums have a disease, which is one step behind gingivitis. We decided to take the list to another dentist for a second opinion. The second dentist looked at the list carefully and was very surprised. He said my wife just needed one crown and that her gums were really perfect with no sign of any disease. After the second opinion, we made an appointment with Redford Dental, again, for the crown the other dentist we received a second opinion from said we needed. A few days before the appointment, someone from their office by the name of Adela called and said that my wife had to do several other procedures, in addition to the crown we had scheduled the appointment for. She said my wife had to do all the procedures they recommended (all the crowns, zirconia veneers, and six resin composites) or do nothing. She then said she was going to cancel my wife's appointment, which was on Monday, and firmly told my wife to not come to the office on Monday. We told her to keep the appointment and asked to speak to her manager. After a few days, someone emailed from their office and said the same things that Adela said. In addition, she told us that we were not fit for their office, that their office used high tech equipment, and repeated, as Adela had initially said, to not come to the appointment we had scheduled. Next, someone higher up contacted us. After hearing our side of the story, she repeated the same thing that Adela and the other person said, that they have high tech equipment, and she showed no empathy at all. She also told us that since we went for a second opinion, that this meant we didn't trust their opinion, and to not come back to their office. We explained that some people may not have the money upfront to get all these procedures done at once. Instead of being empathetic, she responded that she recommended we go to different offices in Sacramento who accept Medi-Cal, and told us we were not fit for their office. She told us they didn't accept our insurance, which was ridiculous, since we had been seen there before to get X-rays and an exam. Furthermore, we are not on Medi-Cal! We pay for our own insurance through Delta Dental. The employees at Redford Dental are absolute monsters. We talked to three different people and each one was worse and more rude than the previous one. Instead of being empathetic and admitting that they were dishonest and tried to charge us for unnecessary procedures, they tried to make us feel like low class citizens, belittling us and saying we were on Medi-Cal and that their office was too good for us with their high tech equipment. Even if we were on Medi-Cal, which we are not, that is no way to treat anyone! I absolutely do not trust Redford Dental and strongly suggest everyone not to go to an establishment who makes profit out of dishonesty and lacks such professionalism and basic human decency. They should be ashamed of themselves. We will be sure to tell all our friends and family to stay FAR AWAY from their office. read more

After two disastrous 'adventures' with dentists in this area who wanted to sell me services I didn't need, including a $1000 'deep cleaning'. I decided to try Redford Dental, I saw Dr. Davey who immediately impressed me by telling me that the small amount of decay that I have at the base of a crown doesn't require replacing the crown, he could repair it by cutting some of the gum away with a laser. This is the first dentist in this area who suggested something that would cost me less money rather than going for the highest cost treatment. His hygienist Jan cleaned my teeth and examined them and said there was no need for a $1,000 periodontal treatment, she did everything that needed to be done for under $100. Everyone in the office is helpful and friendly. These are honest, ethical professionals & I highly recommend them. read more

Let's be honest, we all avoid the dentist for as as long we possibly can. But, my wisdom teeth had been coming up and down for years, and this last time around -- woah, boy. I knew I had to get them pulled, and fast. However, I currently live in Maine and while I'm lucky enough to still be on my mother's health insurance, that caused some problems. Because the policy originates in Northern California, I have to come back home to Northern California. Totally cool with me but then there was the issue of getting decently priced plane tickets seeing as we're entering into the holiday season. Enter Redford Dental Care! I requested quotes from several different oral surgeons in the area and Redford Dental Care was the only one to call me back after hearing about my unique situation. I was requesting to have the pre-op appointment literally a day before the extraction so that I wouldn't be in Sacramento for weeks and weeks. They were more than willing to accommodate! I arrived late Wednesday, 11/2. I had my pre-op appointment the next morning, on 11/3. Sarah, the receptionist, was incredibly sweet and was one of the people who went out her of her way to help me out with my situation, especially with my unique payment issues. I had ALL FOUR of my wisdom teeth extracted on 11/4. Dr. Davey sat down with me on Thursday for about a half hour, going over the whole procedure and post-op instructions. He was extremely reassuring and made me feel so comfortable with the whole procedure. I opted for full conscious sedation, because, I mean, who wouldn't? They made sure I had everything I needed. They gave me the sedation pills the day before, as well as prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medication for after wards. I took one pill the night before and the other two right before I came in on Friday morning. I remember basically driving to the office and then waking up at my mom's house. My mom said that Sarah and Dr. Davey were great! They came out frequently to let her know how it was going, and again, Dr. Davey went over all of the instructions he had given me the day before. She told me that we were out of there in under two hours, with the first hour being spent with me just sitting in the chair waiting for the medication to take full affect. Not only that, I wasn't aware of this prior, but they don't normally work on Fridays. Because of my special circumstances, they arranged to come and perform my extraction on their day off! If that doesn't speak to their level of care and service, then I don't know what does. I was pretty out of it most of that day, but I was awake by the night time. I was swollen around my jaw and a bit sore, but that was to be expected. I stopped taking the harder pain medications that night because I didn't feel like I needed them, and I've been taking Ibuprofren and Tylenol over the weekend. But Saturday? On Saturday, we went shopping and out to dinner. I felt great! I definitely did not expect that. I cannot recommend Dr. Davey and his team enough. I am so grateful for their care because I was definitely super stressed out about having all four of my teeth extracted at once but they made me feel totally at ease. read more

I have had some pretty bad experiences with dentists here in Sacramento. I think there has been 3 in the last 6 years where they were wanting to do radical treatment right off the bat, rather than try conservative treatment. Clearly wanting to just to get the increase of their revenue. So far this does not seem to be the case with this office. I am actually really looking forward to becoming a long lasting patient here. I was so impressed I even scheduled my daughter and hubby for their initial exam before I left the office. I found this dentist just through my insurance in-network provider list. I was nervous about my selection, and even did some research of several on the list before making the decision to schedule with this office. Honestly, I looked at reviews here on Yelp as the main tool to help me decide on who to choose. Because of this I want to give others the feedback I used to make my selection. Because I am in healthcare administration myself, I tend to be a little on the critical side. Today, I did not find one thing to dislike about this practice. The front office staff are friendly and efficient, the clinical staff went out of their way to greet me as I was being led to my treatment room, and when the dentist came in he had a very pleasant bedside manner. Most importantly, my treatment plan was not presented to me with "possible" patient responsibility. They are actually going to be calling the insurance to review my coverage and obtain my out of pocket. Once they have the correct numbers they are going to email me my treatment plan with 100% correct dollar amounts. No surprises. In a nutshell, GREAT customer service and competent clinical staff. I love Redford Dental! My husband loves them as well! The staff are great and very accommodating! I'm so glad I found them searching online and soooo happy I made an appointment for my husband. When we arrived, they were fast and friendly. As for myself, I haven't been to the dentist for over 10 years so I figured with the insurance we had, I told myself to get over the fear and get it over with... So I did. They were able to see me the same time and day as my husband so that was great! Sara and Dr. Redford were fantastic at explaining down to the details about what was wrong with my teeth. In the end, they made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. It's always a great feeling to know you can trust someone with your teeth! My husband had one of his back tooth pulled out yesterday and he didn't feel any pain (the one thing he hates the most about dentists) , but he didn't have any pain at all after they were done! The last optometrist we went to, he was injected with a bunch of antibiotics and it had him shivering for the rest of the day, as if he had a cold, but he didn't. There are not a lot off dental practices that do what they do. I needed several Gold Crowne replacements. While in the chair your tooth is prepped and they make your beautiful Crowne replacement that is done at the same appointment. Also one of my Gold Crowne's needed a root canal, which was done at the same visit. They also utilize a suction dam to more carefully remove metals, old teeth and debris during the prep. Their work is superior, and with a critical care nurse background I am meticulous in my selections for care. If your looking for perfection in dental care, this practices is recommended. read more

Redford Dental is the tops when it comes to dental care! As you walk in the office, you are greeted by name in such a welcoming manner that it feels like home. (I have been there now on multiple occasions and they have never faltered in making me feel that welcome). I have had the fortune of meeting both Dr Redford and Dr Davey. They both took all of my concerns to heart, alleviated any concerns and thoroughly explained everything that was going to take place during my visit. I require sedation for I am a bit skiddish of dentistry due to very, very sensitive teeth. Every cleaning has been very comfortable, perfectly sedated or numbed. On your way out, the staff says goodbye and thanks you for your business. They make sure you understand your follow up instructions (if any) and make sure to get you scheduled for your next cleaning. I've always have had fears for dentistry. In the past I have used sedation drugs that cost a lot, with prior dentist. The 1st time I had an appointment, I felt very comfortable. Like I was in good hands. Dental work still makes me cringe. But the way Dr. Redford and his staff comforts you, those fears dwindle away. So that pesky drill noise doesn't have it's effect in my mind any more. I believe they do sedation dentistry there too. But because I feel I'm in really good hands I can get through the much work that he has done and still needs to do. Also the crowns are made in office and with a little wait you have your permanent crown right away. No more temp crowns and more appointments to get a permanent one.
