Con: My appointment was changed by a few hours a few weeks beforehand, but at least not cancelled…read more Pros: Staff were friendly, place is clean and nicely decorated. Paperwork is relatively painless. I've been to Denti-Cal dentists that didn't care and were inconsiderate about your comfort, but these people were great. No "cavities" to fill like other low income dentists to pad the bill. Highly recommend!

I want to share my experience today, Friday, October 30, at City of Trees Dental in Carmichael…read morebecause I am extremely disappointed with the way patients were treated. I had a 10:00 AM appointment for a consultation regarding four teeth that I need extracted. I currently have braces through another dental office, and they informed me that I needed these four teeth removed. I had my metal wires removed a week before this appointment so I could move forward with the extractions. I arrived 20 minutes early, expecting to be seen on time. However, when I arrived, there were already more than 15 people waiting inside and even outside because the waiting room was so small. I was told I could wait in my car and that they would call me when it was my turn. I trusted that I would be contacted, but after two hours, I went inside to check on the situation. That's when I realized that people waiting outside were being skipped and were not necessarily being called as promised. I was told they were running behind and that if we couldn't continue waiting, we would have to reschedule. Unfortunately, they didn't have another appointment available until the end of the month. What made the situation even worse was the unprofessional attitude from some of the staff. I personally witnessed staff members making fun of and mocking frustrated patients and speaking negatively about them, as if it were the patients' fault that so many appointments had been scheduled back to back with only one oral surgeon available. After waiting THREE HOURS, I unfortunately had to leave because I had another appointment to attend. When I asked how much longer it would be, I was told there were still two people ahead of me and that I could be waiting another hour or even longer because some patients were having extractions done. I tried to reschedule, but there were no sooner appointments available. I understand that emergencies happen and offices can sometimes run behind, but patients deserve communication, honesty, and basic respect. Our time matters too. If an office knows it cannot accommodate the number of patients scheduled, there should be better planning instead of leaving people waiting for hours without proper updates. Now I am left trying to find another oral surgeon after already having my braces wires removed and waiting

5 star + every time!!! I've been coming to Dr. Barakt's…read moreoffice for years. I'm claustrophobic and I have a huge phobia to dentists but I was referred here by a coworker years ago and have been extremely happy ever since . He has always been very gentle with my teeth and considerate of my fears. He always keeps me informed about any treatments I need and the priority level of each treatment and He never try's to "upsell" for any treatments that I don't need. I've also been treated by his son Andre in the same office who also shows as much care. The front desk staff are all very polite and knowledgeable about the different insurances and timelines and are always very prompt in getting ahold of my insurance to let me know about my coverages and what's to be expected as far as payments and plans. I've always recommended/referred my friends, family and even new people I meet to come to Dr. Barakat's office for any dental need.

Wisdom Tooth Removal experience? 10/10…read more I'm a scairdy cat. I know...everyone gets nervous. But I'm next level ridiculous. The front office staff, dental assistants, and Dr. Andre Barakat, were all so sweet, and gentle. They have brand new equipment, and relaxing scenes playing on a TV. Dr. Andre patiently talked me through everything. His demeanor is very calming and he got the offending tooth out in about 30 minutes, with no pain. (He numbs your gums first, so you never even feel the Novocain shot.) The pre-procedure panic, was replaced with relief and gratitude for their patience and kindness, and I couldn't stop myself from asking the dental assistant if I could give her a hug. She said yes, but in addition to being a big baby, I'm also a spazz, and I tripped over a little trash can next to the chair. So between that, and the lingering high emotions from being scared, I don't know if I ever did hug her. LOL. (I would have run around the office hugging everyone, but I had embarrassed myself enough for one day, and promptly went home.) As soon as I got home, I took OTC pain meds, figuring I better get ahead of things before the Novocain wore off. I went to bed, woke up the next morning and didn't need any pain relievers at all. If you're scared, and putting off a dental procedure, just call their office and make an appointment. They will take great care of you!

After not having a regular dentist for 6+ years (learn from my mistake and do not wait that long between visits!), I was in the market for a dental team to help get me to a good place with my teeth. I came across Backhus Family Dental with a quick google search. After an assessment with Dr Mark, my teeth were not where they should be. I had needed root canal work, crown placements, as well as several cavities filled. I could feel my anxiety begin to climb at the first visit with the amount of visits I knew I'd be back for, but, the team at Backhus Family Dental had my back and helped me through each visit with sweet personalities, clear communication at the beginning of each visit as to what we were doing, warm smiles through it all, and IMPECCABLE work! My teeth haven't felt this amazing in YEARS! This genuine team of good people deserve the world as they do nothing but make it better, one smile at a time. Thank you, Laurie, Catherine, Joanna, Stephanie, Dr. Mark, and other team members! I appreciate all the hard work you do! I am so glad I have found my dental care team! God Bless!
