I have Mercedes Benz 300SD with bad alternator belt. So I asked change 4 belts and tire rotation. and battery full charge. But they did not charged battery and said dead battery. Mechanic's hourly rate in the area is 60-80 they are charging $80.00 I advised Hugo that he is charging me two times what I can get the part myself he advised that was the best he could do and that I might want to talk with Joey or I could buy the part and they would install it for $80.00 hour ummmmm, No Thanks. Called back and spoke with Joey and he offered to do the job for $400 still $50 higher then H & A Auto in Costa Mesa and I will still have Joey and Hugo do my oil and standard maintenance. no go!!! $120 for a simple bypass of the heater core (half an hour labor max). They didn't check the bypass so they overlooked a big leak in the cooling system which they caused with the bypassing. I had to tow my car back to the service station. caution!!! read more

This place is horrible!!!! I bought a battery from here April 2019 for $210.66. The battery has a two year warranty. I went to start my truck and it didn't start on Jan 21, 2021. I took the battery out and took it to Star Auto since it was still under warranty. They checked the battery and said it was still good and it just needed charging. It was too low to jump. They said it'll be $130 to charge the battery for the day. That's all they said they could do. I said no and left. I took it to an auto supply store that charges batteries for free. They tried charging it for the entire day and said the battery was no good. It only held a 9% battery charge. I called the battery manufacturer and they said to take the battery to one of there local warehouses. I took it to the battery manufacturer local warehouse and they swapped the battery out with no problem. They said it would've cost $0 dollars for Star Auto to swap out you a new battery. Instead Star Auto wanted to make a come up off me by charging $130 first. If I could give them negative stars I would. They are horrible and dishonest! read more

I paid $80 for this place to make a full inspection of my car because my engine was stalling, they concluded that nothing was wrong with it and sent me on my way. A month later the same problem occurs and this time the engine wouldn't start at all. So we took it to our dealer and it turned out the fuel pump was damaged. As it turns out it could have been avoided had the problem been caught earlier, but instead we paid $900 to replace the entire thing.
