If you live in the city, this is a great shop to visit. With a large variety of fresh cut flowers and lots of nice house plants. Such a terrific local florist. We've been here a few times now, not often enough to be regulars or anything, but every time we receive amazing service regardless of the purchase size. I went in yesterday to add a succulent to a little planter I bought across the street, and I was really touched that they took time and care to make it look perfect -- for an $8.50 purchase. She offered to cut down the container height, added some nice decorative moss, and I saw her painstakingly trim a couple wonky leaves. Behind the counter they were putting together a gorgeous succulent and orchid arrangement, probably for an office, and it was pretty impressive. The attention to detail is amazing. All of the flowers in the shop are lovely and high quality, from the pre-made arrangements to the flowers in the cooler. Also -- I really appreciate that they have normal human hours (open til 7 many weeknights), so you can go after work. read more

I walked into this floral shop randomly since I was in the neighborhood. What attracted me was the really cute storefront. It was a extremely cold Boston day after Valentines day. I wanted to check out what they had inside. This is a really big space. They have a huge selection of beautiful flowers and plants. I asked one of the ladies that was putting out the plants the difference between two of the succulents. She was so sweet and kind! She also showed me all the various types of plants they had on the floor. I liked their selection, it was so hard to choose! I ended up picking a really cool plant with a heart foiled planted. My entire experience here was superb! They packaged my plant with a box so it would not get damaged in transit too! As I left and started walking outside on the sidewalk, the kind lady that helped me earlier called me to come back inside to cover my purchase, to cover with plastic. I chose Stapleton Floral in South Boston for my bouquet, boutonnieres and centerpieces because of their convenient location and good reviews. At first, I was a little nervous about the outcome of our flowers because my fiancé (now husband) and I went into our first consultation without much preparation. Bety was very nice and professional, and nudged us in the direction of "very bridal" as our wedding was rather untraditional. Whites, creams and greens with a "pop" of color was the initial vision...which was fine. I trusted Bety. When we left the consultation, I had so many questions, suggestions and concerns that I was too overwhelmed to ask at the time - like what color?! So, after some thought, I asked Marian and Bety if I could come in for a second consultation. This time, I felt more prepared with a list of flowers I liked/disliked as well as a more specific color palate. We really wanted something fun and summery, even if it skewed away from "bridal". I talked it over with Bety and left more confident in our collective choices. Still, being a more creative/visual thinker and not knowing the exact outcome was the absolute hardest part about choosing and ordering flowers for our wedding. I am sure that I am not the only one that feels that way, right? In the end, the flowers were GORGEOUS. I am so glad I spoke up to what I liked and wanted for our special day (although I'm sure the first idea would have been beautiful as well). I actually cried tears of joy/relief when I saw my bouquet. All of our guests raved about the reception centerpieces. In the end, I recommend Stapleton Floral 1000% and will suggest them to anyone and everyone needing flowers. Bety and Marian are amazing and know what they are doing! this was the first and will be the last time I use this florist. I wanted something special for my sisters 60th birthday so instead of using an online florist I went with Stapletons. I spoke with a pleasant person on the phone, explain that along with the floral arrangement I would like them to include a nice bottle of red wine. She checked with her boss and said that would be fine. Needless to say I was very disappointed and upset when not only did they not include the wine, I had paid extra for, but the arrangement was embarrassing. in fact the arrangement sent by another sibling from an online florist look far better at a third the price. After speaking with the florist I did receive a refund for the wine but that was a the least they could do. read more

Worst customer service I have ever encountered! I called for a wedding inquiry after having sent an email to politely request pricing and did not hear back on the email. I simply asked if the inquiry was received as I had not heard anything and Marianne (or Mary Anne?) was extremely rude and treated the inquiry as if it was beneath her to even respond to it. Started going off on how there were too many pictures on the proposal, too many different types of flowers, the vessels were too intricate, and this was difficult to price out. As the proposal stated, these were merely meant to be photos for inspiration (and might I add, the 3 other florists this was sent to were SO appreciative of seeing the board and found it to be extremely helpful). First and last time I will ever call them - there are so many more helpful and customer service oriented florists in Boston - look elsewhere! read more

She was cold and short. I attempted to see if there was anyway I could get a picture sent to me when the arrangement was done, cause I would probably not be able to see it any other way, she simply replied "NOPE". Look I'm a business owner and I understand how things are ran, but after I specifically told you I order flowers all the time from a different place in Boston that has just recently closed, you should at least pretend you'd like to earn my business. We had Stapleton do our flowers for our wedding-- very simple, just bouquets, boutineres, corsages, and some table pieces. The flowers were absolutely lovely and fantastically fresh... but they were not what we ordered. We did give the man we met with (who was very nice) few directions, but what directions we gave were very specific-- a primarily green bouquet for me with white/cream roses and one or two pops of yellow; for the bridesmaids, primarily white bouquets with green and one or two pops of yellow. In my bouquet, at least, I wanted ferns, herbs, and aloe/cactus type leaves incorporated. All of the bouquets were primarily yellow. Mine had no white at all, but did have green roses. Two types of ferns, green berries, and fake fiddleheads were incorporated, but no aloe/cactus style leaves or herbs. The boutineres were lovely, and the corsages were also lovely, and the 6 table pieces-- small cacti and ferns in pots, which are exactly the sort they sell in their shop-- were exactly as ordered. Again, the flowers and their arrangements were beautiful and super fresh. If you were stopping by after work for a bouquet to just have in a vase on your table, I'd definitely recommend them. But for a wedding or any other event where you spend a lot of time and a lot of money to try to get a cohesive visual theme? I would avoid them. I personally would not use them again, because I would be afraid of artistic liberties being taken with my order. read more

Wow, the shop is full of idiots. All we needed was 2 balloons to be filled. We called, asked if they could do this and asked how much it would cost. On the phone they said it was $1 for a normal mylar balloon. We explained ours were much bigger but they said - no problem. They filled the balloons and tied a ribbon around them to help carry, except they didn't knot the ribbon so as soon as we walked outside - there goes a $25 balloon. Luckily we caught the second before it escaped. Like I said, idiots. You're filling something with helium - wrapping a ribbon around it without knotting it is not going to work. On top of that, they charged $20 per balloon. Maybe shame on us for using a flower shop to get a balloon filled, but the overall carelessness speaks volumes. I would never dare trust them with something that was actually important when they failed on a balloon. read more

Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest and one of the most memorable days of your life. While I won't exaggerate and say that Stapleton ruined my day; they did put a big blemish on it. Instead of skimping and going with a cheaper vendor, we decided to splurge and go with Stapleton based on reviews and flower arrangement samples they had. Communication up to the wedding day was smooth and everyone seem to be on par regarding the arrangements so imagine my surprise when the flower bouquets arrived on my wedding day were not what I had decided on. Your wedding day is stressful enough, so instead of making a big fuss, I just let it go. However, less than 3 hours of receiving the flowers, they had all wilted and died; it was noticeable enough that several of the wedding guests had made comments; so clearly, this I could not let go. After the wedding, I called Stapleton to speak to the manager regarding my experience; but they were inept and unsympathetic and all complaints fell on deaf ears. Obviously, Stapleton was more concern with their bottom line instead of customer satisfaction; after all, I had already paid, why would they care now? Yes, I probably was being a perfectionist and expected a lot; but why shouldn't I? It was my wedding day! And I spent the better part of $4K so it can be perfect! I had gone with supposedly one of the best so everything would turn out great, but instead, received sub-par flowers and a horrible experience. On another note, I wanted to preserve my bridal bouquet but since it had wilted, it was impossible. The best I can hope for now is that the flowers on the wedding pictures won't turn out so bad. So thank you Stapleton! You've put a big ugly spot on my perfect day. read more

I did not have any experiences with the storefront, staff, or selection of flowers, but I have seen their work! A woman I photographed last week had a Stapleton bridal bouquet put together for our studio shoot, and the flowers looked amazing! It was a well-thought-out display of different white flowers wrapped in a silk ribbon. The density was solid and there were no cheap/stupid looking "filler" flowers or material like you see in some less expensive bouquets. After the shoot I took the flower clutch home and put them in a vase by the window, they were so elegant and tasteful. A week later, these suckers are still alive and actually opening. This is the second arrangement I've received from Stapleton's very very ordinary. The only premium flowers were hydrangea that were so mushed into the vase as an anchor for the cheap flowers and fillers like gerbera daisies, solidago and seeded eucalyptus. Then they added ONE cymbidium bloom I guess to make it look upscale only it was old and browning on the sides. Why bother? They just seem like they're phoning it in with the same old lack of creativity. I gave them 2 stars for leaf lining the vase and the beautiful hydrangea. read more

My sister had been using Stapleton for years and got me hooked. I used them for work related and personal use. They do absolutely gorgeous work, for much less than some Boston high end florists. I can think of one to compare that begins with a W. My sister sent me flowers from Stapleton, when I had surgery around the holidays. It was festive looking but not with green & red for colors. It was pink and silver accents. I took a picture of it to show everyone how beautiful it was. It also lasted longer than any of the other arragements I was sent! You won't be disappointed. read more

Then when it didn't stand up straigh, Mr Stapleton grabbed another for me, and suggested I buy some concentrated lime juice, to feed the tree and keep it fresh for the 5 weeks before Christmas is over. Oh, for the love of fresh flowers. When I want fresh flowers, I come to Stapletons. Though they do not have a huge selection, what they do have is always very nice. They sell house plants in addition to flowers. The owners are also very nice. They have wonderful sidewalk displays- petunia's in the summer, tulips in the spring, mums in the falls and my favorite-- greens, wreaths, holly and more greens in the winter. I used to make it a point to walk by them once a day to take in the smells of winter. read more
