My sister called to place an order for a party we are having. She described what she wanted and sent me to pick them up. When I arrived, a nice Italian woman helped me (sorry, I can't remember her name). The four bouquets were so pretty and filled with such beautifully colored flowers. I live in Bay Area,CA and my sister lives in Marblehead MA. I ordered flowers yesterday to be delivered for my sister's birthday today. When Ann took my order, she captured my words re: style exactly as I requested "wildflowers, something loose and playful". And yet, my sister received an elegant, stiff arrangement in a short glass vase that would be stunning as a wedding centerpiece, but nothing like my order request. When my sister FaceTimed me to show me the 7 pink garden roses, one hydrangea and some greens, my heart sank. Not only was the arrangement much smaller than expected, there was nothing "wildflower, loose or playful about it". I wanted to resolve this prior to leaving a review, mistakes happen, right? I immediately called after I saw the flowers (image below) and spoke with Kim. Kim took the time to listen to my disappointment and confusion with the order, even though she was the only one in the shop and busy. Kim asked if I could have my sister text her an image of the flowers. Then, I find out that Kim called my sister (the recipient) to ask if she was unhappy and would like to switch out the arrangement. Awkward!!!! My sister didn't know how sad and disappointed I was or how much I spent, and she told Kim that wasn't necessary. She told her that the "flowers weren't me but they are pretty". I am the one who ordered and paid, why call her? My sister doesn't know that I spent over $100 on these few pink garden roses. I called Kim hours later after no one got back to me and she said they have a formula and the arrangement was valued more than $100. She said that each order is "unique" and that they "put their creative souls" into their work. I reminded her the style request on the order form and how I was told I could get a much bigger arrangement for $100. I asked for a partial refund. Despite getting the style so wrong, the upsell, the disappointing size and lack of flowers, Kim said a partial refund "isn't possible". Her effort at fixing it was to call the recipient and offer a switch "for something else already in the truck". Really??? This was my birthday gift for my sister. Ugh. Cost of living in the Bay area is, well, ridiculously expensive. And yet, $100 gets you a beautiful large bouquet of loose, wildflowers done right 3 times the size. I gave 2 stars, not 1 star, because Kim showed some responsiveness in taking my call. I want to support local businesses, but next time, I'm going with Farmgirl Flowers or another local florist. I do not recommend Roses and Thistle unless you want very expensive, small centerpieces for an upscale event. read more

Tracey and her team did an amazing job with our wedding bouquets, boutineers and our flower girl's flower crown. She even managed to get Dutch peony for my bouquet, which wasn't easy in July! My bouquet was absolutely stunning and exactly what I wanted! White peony, succulents, calla lily, rose and so much more! Thank you so much for making my special day even more special! read more

I also agree about their attitude towards our fighting troops and being so lame as to insist upon a 40 dollar delivery charge. Had I known this, I would have gladly delivered the roses myself. Anyway, the reason I give only 1 star is their product doesn't last. I bought a grouping of orchids which looked great. They only lasted last then a month and withered away with the buds dropping off, They charged me an additional 30 dollars to replace the original order saying we overwatered the orchids. Okay, paid the $$ and returned after another 3 weeks. Replaced those and now looking to replace those with orchids from Home Depot costing only 19.00. NOT RETURNING!! read more

Gorgeous! That was the flower arrangement I received last Friday. A week later it was still beautiful!

Ordered an arrangement 24 hours ahead for a get well bouquet to be delivered about five miles away from the shop. A very helpful person took my order and credit card/contact information. It never arrived, and neither the recipient or I received a phone call explaining a delay. I called the shop the following morning(48hours after the order) and the owner had no record of it in her computer. She told me she would chase it down and call me back. That was three hours ago. Disappointing service, and given that there are a number of very good alternate florists in town who would welcome my orders, fool hearty. I like Roses and Thistle's floral arrangements, but not enough to use them again. read more

I must admit their taste and arrangements are a cut above but the owner has attitude. I asked for a break and on individual vases via rental but "no go". I was going to purchase almost $400 worth of flowers to go in them but I guess it didn't make sense for her business. Still willing to give her my money, I asked what else we could do for arrangements. She didn't want to spend a moment brainstorming. I don't want to spend a moment handing her my money. The lovely owner of Flower House chatted me up and we came up with a delightful deal. I'm purchasing my own vases and she's going to fill them. Voila! I found my gracious florist for whom I would lay on railroad tracks. And give her my money. read more

Tracey did the flowers for my wedding and I couldn't have been happier. She had tons of look books that helped me narrow down what I liked and then we had a meeting a couple weeks before the wedding to see a mock up of my arrangements. I used to use this flower shop all the time, because the flower arrangements are nice(if you told them what you wanted, if you let them do what they wanted without giving any direction,they were hideous). But I will never return there after reading this story about her lack of support to the troops. How can someone be so money hungry that they deny a soldiers wish to have flowers delivered to his children? After reading this story, I am telling EVERYONE i know, not to use this flower shop. read more

My husband has been sending me flowers from Roses and Thistle during his deployment to Afghanistan, they even made my wedding bouquet. However, this past Saturday my husband phoned them from Afghanistan to request they deliver 2 roses, one each to our twins turning 6. He informed them of the circumstance and where he was calling from. The owner informed him there was a $40 min for delivery.(they are a half a block away) My husband was very upset as was I. The owner made no attempt to even offer an alternate suggestion. I then called today and spoke to the owner, no apology was forthcoming . I will never use this business again. Anyone who cannot find it in their business practices to make exceptions, especially for a US soldier does not deserve anyones business. read more

Roses and Thistle provided the flowers for my daughters wedding.. The bridal bouquet and other floral arrangements were spectacular, and for the most part, more beautiful than what we expected. They made the venue come alive. I would recommend Roses and Thistle to someone who is looking for unique wedding arrangements. read more
