This is a review based on my initial consultation with Darlene - I will update it once I have my wedding. Darlene is the florist for my wedding in July. My fiance and I came here for our consultation and Darlene took all the guesswork and worries out of selecting the flowers. She gives you a list of everything they can offer you and how much it will be. The list included things I didn't even think of - like a smaller bouqet to toss and a corsage for a reader ...who knew? Once you select the type of flowers you want, you can email her pics and she will have you come back to view a mock-up. Her prices are extremely affordable and there was even a girl at the store who told me she did an amazing job on her wedding. Good to know! Another thing checked off my list!! read more

Darlene was wonderful to work with. She had me come in twice for a consultation (the second time because the flowers I wanted would actually be in season). She put together a mock bouquet for the bridesmaids and helped me figure out what else I might need. In fact , an employee at our venue, the Hawthorne Hotel, said that she had never seen such elegant and stunning centerpieces, and she sees them every week! I received a fruit basket from North Shore Fruit & Flowers as a birthday gift from an old & dear friend. While the basket was well packed & lovely, I am very disappointed in some of the fruit that was in the basket. I had left the pears and a whole pineapple out to ripen. When the pears were finally ripe, when cut into pieces, they were very soggy and inedible. The pineapple was green and unripened. The pineapple was left out ar room temperature to ripen and it eventually turned black. Both the pears and the pineapple had to be thrown away. When I called North Shore to let them know my very poor experience with the fruit they shipped out to me, I was transferred to the manager. The manager asked me why I waited to call and said that this is the first time in 5 years that they ever had any complaints. He denied that the fruit was most likely shipped out frozen and said he "apologizes" for the issues I experienced but did not offer anything beyond that. The manager's tone was pretty much "To heck with you, we're not doing anything for you." This is the first time I've ever had an issue with anything edible shipped to me and I will make sure that the person who sent me the fruit basket is aware of Mike (the manager) at North Shore's unwillingness to replace items that are below standard. And I will never recommend nor personally do business with North Shore Fruit & Flowers. read more

Darlene and her team are outstanding! They couldn't have done a more beautiful job with the flowers for our rehearsal dinner and wedding. You tell Darlene your vision, and she takes care of the rest! (Or in our case, lack of vision, which she helped us think through.) At the same time she was attentive to even the smallest details that we specifically requested. (Like incorporating in silk flowers from my wife's mother's bridal bouquet.) Everything was delivered on time, fresh, beautifully arranged, and overflowing with flowers!! Every holiday my brother in another state sends me an arrangement from this florist... and always it is the worst! The arrangements are the ugliest I have ever seen, I love flowers, and these always disappoint. Once,when the delivery man handed them to me, they were all droopy and lasted less than a day. This is no Winstons or Thistle and Rose. Seriously, the latest one has wild flowers that I would never bring into the house mixed with one entire side in PEACH roses and the entire other side in YELLOW roses? Who is part-time working there? A colorblind person? What is sad, is I went to their website and the arrangements do not look like any they offer, not even close. I just need a kind way to tell my poor brother, he is wasting his money. read more

I got married at the Hawthorne Hotel in August 2012, and Darlene was among the florists recommended by my venue. Let me tell you - I was a picky (okay snobby) bride at times. I was worried that because her prices were so reasonable that her quality would be lacking. However, she did not disappoint. I brought my ipad and showed her pictures of the bouquets and centerpieces I had been envisioning, and she immediately knew what I was looking for. She quickly put together an itemized price list for me, showed me examples of similar bouquets that she had in the back, and made a few suggestions of other flowers I could add. I had my heart set on gold pedestal bowl vases for my centerpieces. She didn't carry them, but told me I could rent them from another vendor. I actually found them online for cheaper than rental prices, and when I told her that she had me email her the link for future brides. Once my vases arrived, I took them to Darlene and she made me a sample centerpiece. That's when she had me - the sample was stunning, and they were even more stunning on my wedding day. read more

The bridal bouquet was exquisite, and the Bridal Party bouquets were delicate and just what the bride had hoped for. My husband ordered me a flower arrangement for my birthday. The arrangement itself was done okay - except with wilted flowers. I called, simply because I did not believe he got what he paid for, and they replaced them no questions asked. However, the flowers again began to wilt and barely lasted 4 days. I know - they're live flowers and can't be expected to last forever - but daisies and roses are a LOT hardier than what came out here. Disappointing. read more

I have have some bad luck with florist and I am thrilled to say Flowers by Darlene is not one of them. I ordered two corsages and boutineers, for two proms. I found some styles on their web site and when I got to the store they didn't have those examples, but pulled them up on their computer. The woman, who was very nice, even tried to save me some money. I called the night before I was supposed to pick up the first order because I want to change the color of some of the roses and try to get it to look more like the colors shown on the wen site. I left a message, but was told I could call back at 8:00 and talked to the designer. When I called she was not in yet and a very nice gentlemen took a message and said they would take care of it. When I came to pick them up I could see the message never got delivered. The woman waiting on me could not have been nicer or more helpful. We went into the flower fridg, choose a couple of new roses and she and Darlene took it apart and rebuilt it in amazing time and my son's date was thrilled. It was beautiful. They really could not have been much more helpful to this pain in neck in the customer. I pick up the other order on Tuesday and I have changed the ribbon color (my son got it wrong) and we will see. At least ribbon is easier to change than flowers. read more
