I do have to say that the gentleman who came to set up the system and then pick it up at the end of the night was AMAZING. He was super helpful, super friendly, and he made sure everything was set up to perfection before he left. He even came back a half hour early that night when I found out that the venue needed to lock up earlier than we had expected, which was incredibly appreciated. The system we rented worked perfectly for my client's DIY wedding DJ needs - they were happy, so I was happy too.

The one who had made the call was young and hurt by the way she was spoken too. Darlene did the flowers for our wedding and she is wonderful! Considering my wedding was in Salem, she was very familiar with the church where we had our ceremony as well as our venue, which made life so easy! With so many years in the business, Darlene is a complete expert and perfectionist! I had initially spoken to her on the phone to give her an idea of what I wanted for flowers and when I arrived for my first appointment she had a beautiful centerpiece sample waiting for me to see, which was gorgeous. My second visit, she had the exact centerpiece and bouquet that we had discussed - BEAUTIFUL! One of my favorite touches was that she took the scraps left over from the bridesmaids dress alterations and used those to wrap the bottoms of the bridesmaids bouquets so that they would match perfectly, it looked amazing! She hand delivered the flowers to my bridal suite (which was a treat as she normally does not do this!) and called us the Monday after our wedding to make sure that we were pleased with the flowers. She is a very pleasant person and put me at ease with all of the stress of wedding planning! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone, she is great! read more

When planning my wedding, flowers were the last thing on my mind. I'm not a "frilly" girl, so when looking for a florist for my November (2010) wedding, I wasn't really sure where to look...Or even what I wanted. Our wedding coordinator at our venue recommended Flowers by Darlene. Darlene took me back into the warehouse - the stuff she had in there was AMAZING. She was probably doing weddings for 3-4 (hundred?) weddings that day, and showed me the bouquets, centerpieces, etc. - it was exactly what this indecisive bride needed. She made some recommendations and I left with an itemized list including cost. The day of I couldn't believe how amazing the bouquets were!!! Looked straight out of a bridal mag. I had left it up to her to do the centerpieces for the tables - and when I first saw the venue room the flowers literally took my breath away. Cheesy, I know. Darlene created all of the bouquets and arrangements for my wedding ceremony & reception last month and they were breath-taking! Our friends and family were completely blown away. We had beautiful flowers along the ceremony aisle seats and the most gorgeous lucite chuppah. I had never seen a chuppah like ours before. It was amazing to almost see through the chuppah and it looked like the flowers were floating in the air. It was perfect to enjoy our harbor side view all thanks to Darlene's recommendation. I can't even get started on our reception flowers. The high and low arrangements looked like they were out of a magazine. I absolutely loved our sweetheart table flowers and what she did for our place card table. On top of how they looked in person, the photos of our reception tent show me that Darlene provided the exact vision of what I was looking for on my wedding day - at a very reasonable and competitive price I might add. We were planning a fall wedding in Salem, from across the country and Darlene made the flowers the easiest part of the whole long-distance process. We had Darlene as the florist for our wedding over Labor Day weekend, and I can't say enough wonderful things about her and they service she provides. We had an easy appointment to select the flowers and arrangements we wanted, and she was spot on with suggestions for flowers and colors based on the swatch I brought her from a bridesmaid's dress. All of the arrangements came out absolutely gorgeous and looked perfect throughout the whole day and night even though it was very hot! The gorgeous arrangements she made for the altar at our church were still there, looking beautiful, a full week later. I recently got married in April 2012 and Darlene did the flowers for my wedding. The Hawthorne Hotel recommended Darlene and the flowers turned out great. The centerpieces were included in the package price with the Hawthorne and we paid another $800 for the rest of the flowers, which I thought was a bit expensive (bouquets and that sort of thing). The flowers were beautiful though, so it was worth it. Darlene gets right down to business, so don't let that scare you away. I'm not really a flower person, so it was great to just let Darlene know what colors we were using and she just picked out the flowers that matched. Our 2nd flower appointment was about 15 minutes long. Everyone said the flowers were beautiful, from the centerpieces to the bouquets. They looked great in the pictures too. read more

I got married at the Wang Theater - an ornate and historical venue. I didn't have a clear vision of what I wanted, but gave Darlene some suggestions. I've seen Darlene's work over the last several years at my church and from gifts I've received that came from her shop via FTD or Teleflora. Everything she does is just beautiful. I went to her recently for my wedding bouquet and it was absolutely gorgeous and perfect! I teared up when I first saw it. She comined white roses, pine greens, silver leaf, pine cones, and red berries wrapped in a ribbon the same exact pale gray color as my dress. Darlene just did the flowers for my daughter and son-in-law's wedding on Monday, Memorial Day. She did a wonderful job of listening to their ideas, and helping them make their dream come true. I really loved all of Caroline's work and knew she would be one of my top picks. She was so easy to work with and was flexible and understanding when sending over quotes. Ultimately based on price and previous work I decided to book Caroline! I sent over my Pinterest board and off we went! In our contract she describes my bouquet as having big blooms and lush greenery, wild over flowering. Yes, exactly what I wanted. When she walked in to my hotel on wedding day I was really thrown off that the flowers she brought in were my bouquet. The crew was in a rush so she just asked me where I should put the flowers down without giving me a good look at the bouquet. I was upset the minute I saw it. But, I didn't want to be a bridezilla and when my MOH offered to call to get Caroline back to the hotel to try to update the flowers I don't remember exactly what happened but it didn't work out. I know flowers die when they aren't in water which is why I picked out the flowers and greenery that I did. My bouquet was full of small white wild flowers, which were in none of my inspiration photos. As you can see from my photo they promptly died right after the 30 minute ceremony. Ranunculus were no where to be found and when I asked Caroline after the wedding she let me know the batch she got in weren't in good shape. It was disappointing that there was no other supplier that she could have found a few at. I was also renting a huppah from Caroline and she was providing the flowers for it as well as draping an ivory cloth over the top. While I was en route to the wedding my soon to be husband started texting me letting me know that the huppah was not the one he thought we had gotten. I found out afterwards the pots that Caroline brought to stand the huppah up had broken during transit. The venue had a similar huppah so she thought it was best to use that one. I knew the venue had that huppah and requested to rent one from Caroline because their's was on wheels, which I thought looked cheesy. She also forgot to put the drape up over the huppah. She did a beautiful job with the flowers on the huppah, but a huppah traditionally is always draped, huppah means wedding canopy after all. I was disappointed that the drape was forgotten. The cocktail hour bud vases were beautiful and she did a wonderful job decorating the mantel like we had talked about. The centerpieces were also pretty, my bouquet was just so disappointing. Especially disappointing from someone who loves flowers and is still thinking about it a year and a half later. If you can spare the cash I recommend doing a sample bouquet, had I done that things would have been much different!

Leading up to the big day, Caroline created a vision for my flowers and kept the lines of communication open. She was flexible around changes I wanted to make and was able to provide suggestions to what I was looking for. Day of, she found a way to incorporate an important piece of jewelry into my bouquet for me, and made my flowers even more special. Words cannot express how fortunate my husband and I were to have hired Pink Orchid Weddings (Emilie). I first met Emilie in 2010 during my good friend Martha's wedding and witnessed first hand the great work Emilie produced. It wasn't until my actual wedding that I REALLY understood how much goes into her job and how good she is at what she does. While my wedding was in Boston, I planned it from Philadelphia. I consider myself a relatively organized and relaxed bride, but even I managed to fall victim to the stress of planning a wedding. Even with the random curve balls that were thrown at Emilie (last minute vendors being added 3 days before the wedding, trolley companies backing out,...etc) Emilie always kept her cool and helped me prioritize and organize myself. While professionalism and attentiveness are just a couple of the many positive traits that she will showcase when you work with her, what it all boils down to is that she is simply a truly good person who loves her job. For example, after a long wedding day. Emilie went above and beyond her duties and gave the exhausted bride (me) a lift to the hotel. While it is strange to say I went home with my wedding coordinator, it honestly was not weird at all! While this is by no means part of her job, it just demonstrates how dedicated she is to her job and how thoughtful of a person she is. I highly recommend Pink Orchid Weddings. I can honestly say that my wedding would not have been nearly as memorable if I did not have Emilie there by my side.

After getting engaged and deciding to plan a wedding 3000 miles away from my venue and never having been to a wedding as an adult, i realized that I should probably get some help. I had no idea what really happens during a wedding never mind how to plan a wedding! So I found Pink Orchid through my photographer Shang Chen of Shang Chen Photography who HIGHLY recommended this company. I looked through the photos on their webpage and was a little worried that my wedding wouldn't be fancy enough for them but after chatting via email I decided to meet up with Emilie while I was in Boston. I immediately liked her and realized quickly that she placed no judgement on my budget (and mostly DIY) wedding. I hired her as our Day of Coordinator. This was by far the best decision I could have made in my wedding planning process. Emilie sent me a monthly checklist to keep me on track during my year long planning process and was always available via email for any questions I had. A month or so before the wedding Emilie and I had our first phone consultation (this wasn't an in-person meeting because she's in Boston and I was in CA). We spoke for several hours going over every single detail of my ceremony and reception. After getting all of my details in order she set up this amazing list of all of my vendors and what they were providing me and she personally followed up with all of them. She also provided me with a timeline of events down to the minute! Now, this sounds kind of anal (well, it did to me at first...) but it wasn't. She just had a good grasp on how the day should go and was able to put it all down on paper in an orderly way that I never could have done in a million years. The morning of my wedding, Emilie arrived bright and early to our hair appointment and checked in with me before she went to our venue. When I got to the venue she already had everything rolling. She filled me in on what had arrived and made sure that I was doing well. I felt so calmed by her presence, knowing that everything was going to be set up exactly as I had wanted (or better). She worked with my venue coordinator to make sure the food and service went well and worked with my other vendors to make sure that they were providing to me what they had promised. Emilie was there to help fix my flower girl's pomander when it broke. She was there when the lunch hour became a little boring and helped moved the timeline along faster to get the dancing started. It's those little things throughout my day that I didn't want my mom or I to think about or stress out about and Emilie made sure that we didn't stress out about anything. Emilie helped take down all of the elements that they had put up that morning and had it all packed up in boxes ready to be put in cars. Through set up and take down she was amazing. I HIGHLY recommend Emilie and Pink Orchid Weddings for anyone getting married who needs a little (or a lot) of help. The service was a little pricy, but my cross-country planning self needed some reassurance that everything was going to work out that day and it did. My wedding was absolutely amazing and I owe a part of that to Emilie.

My fiancé and I sat down with our planners along with our Floral Designers - Kelly & Camille - and wow, we were blown away from our initial meeting. My concepts were basic - we like color, I have always dreamed of hanging aspects maybe globes?, we love plants, here's some photos. My now-husband actually knows his plant & flower friends more than I do, and although he had many real opinions on likes/dislikes, we still didn't have a concrete vision. Kelly & Camille took the few pieces we gave them, they pulled out more, and then they created a floral design plan that blew our socks off upon first read. There is not much in the world of planning where my fiancé just looked and said - YES, no question. Even on paper spelled out clearly for us, we didn't fully grasp what Artistic Blossoms - the team - was going to do for our day. These magical floral fairy godmothers & sisters created a floral concept that I will dream of night after night, or at least I hope to. The best decision that we ever made in florals aside from hiring AB, was trusting and understanding that they are the true experts at what they do. Kelly & Camille took a vision that we couldn't even put into words and painted a masterpiece of awesome for our day. I would have been beyond happy with the low centerpieces only. Oh and my bouquet!! I would have been thrilled with the ceremony pieces and their wonderful repurpose to dinner. Would have been even more delighted with the high pieces with beautiful clear hanging globes with tea lights, a true wow. And the vines on the lights over the band, and the air plants & florals for our signage. But then, they gave us the most spectacular jaw dropping gift - a giant hanging piece from the ceiling, over the center of the dance floor! All combined it was unbelievable. When I saw the space, with the candles glowing on to the pieces I cried, I truly cried. And I'm not sure I cried too many other times that day. My now-husband and I cannot be more grateful for Artistic Blossoms - the biggest flower nerd experts, the best floral designers & cat lovers, the most fun talking flowers and more to, the best human beings. I called and left a message to ask if I could add to it to make it bigger. No one returned my call. I called a few days later and asked if they could deliver it a day early, since I did not know my mom's schedule that day and I specifically asked that they deliver them to my mom personally because of my crazy family dynamics - my jealous siblings who would throw flowers and gifts from me and my kids in the trash. Again, no one returned my call. So I sent an email. Marta-Victoria emailed me back a few days later and assured me she would hand-deliver them to my mother, per her policy, and as I had instructed. She did exactly as she was instructed not to do. Moreover, she didn't mention my multiple messages she did not return. Today, I called and emailed to find out if they delivered the flowers to my mom personally. They emailed me with a picture of the flowers they say they delivered, which were NOTHING like the flowers I ordered and only included 2 purple flowers but it was still not the arrangement OR THE PRICE I paid. Worse, despite my explicit directions and explanations, and my offer to pay more for a 2nd delivery attempt, if necessary, they did exactly what I told them not to do -- they left the flowers with someone else. Pure Joy flowers demands a tip before they even deliver the flowers. Can you imagine their audacity and entitlement? You earn a tip after you've completed your service. I only gave them a 20% tip as insurance to encourage them to follow my directions, which they didn't. When they didn't deliver the flowers I ordered or deliver them to my mom, I emailed them and asked them to refund me the 20% tip that I paid in advance and the difference in the cost of the flowers I ordered and the flowers they delivered. As usual, Marta-Victoria refused to answer my multiple emails or respond to the terrible review I gave her. Like the other reviewers said here, this florist is never open. No one answers the phone or email at any time of day. Marta-Victoria's 4.1 star reviews are all her other friends writing these reviews! RUN FROM THIS FLORIST! They don't return your calls or emails unless you call and email multiple days and they are CROOKS! They take your money and don't provide the service or even the correct flowers you order and then lie and say it was "an upgrade," when it was a downgrade, as if you were blind and couldn't tell the difference. I included photos so you can see the difference between what I ordered and paid for -- and what they allegedly delivered -- although there is still no proof that they did deliver them -- and the replacement flowers I had to buy and send because Marta-Victoria's downgrade was so puny, cheap and unremarkable and I have no confirmation they were ever delivered, from both my mom or the florist. I called Come Pick My Flowers, and told Nancy, the owner, the whole story. She delivered replacement flowers immediately within 4 hours and hand-delivered them to my mother and sent me a picture. THAT is excellent customer service. Go to Come Pick My Flowers when you need flowers. The 1st picture is the flower is the arrangement that Come Pick My Flowers sent as a replacement within a few hours notice -- not the 10 days of notice that Pure Joy had. Nancy charged me $60 for the flowers and $10 for the delivery and her flowers and the arrangement are so much fuller and so much more beautiful by comparison! The 2nd picture is the picture that Pure Joy's delivery man sent me of what he allegedly dropped off, but he did not hand-deliver to my mom as I asked, so I don't even know if they arrived. They are clearly not the same as what I ordered and not as pretty or as purple and cheaper than the flower arrangement I paid for, which is the 3rd photo. The 3rd photo is the flower arrangement I ordered and paid for from Pure Joy flowers for $65 + $15 delivery + $4.06 in tax and $13 in required tip. Pure Joy is a PURE SCAM. I had to call the Better Business Bureau to report Marta-Victoria for refusing to give me a refund of the difference between the arrangement I paid for and the lesser one they allegedly sent (which I still have no proof was delivered) and my 20% tip that was forced at the time of purchase, rather than as a reward for good service. She didn't earn the tip. As far as I know, the flowers weren't even delivered so she didn't earn the sale either. Since my parents had their wedding arrangement done by Leonard's decades ago, we've been coming back. In August I went with my family, we showed up and meandered around, found a few planters and a branch of a plant lying on the ground. About an 1/2 foot-sized piece of a massive massive jade plant had broken off, and dried. It was clear it had happened a while ago. I asked if it was for sale, and the woman simply let me have it! By this point it was uncertain if it would live. I planted it, and it is by far my happiest and healthiest plant. I wonder if their giant big jades are for sale... will be back to check them out soon.
