This Staples store in Wakefield is in the same shopping center as the Shaw's grocery store. I have been here many times, but today I come in to use their Amazon Drop off return. The shipping section, which included the Amazon drop off department was busy around 11am on a Saturday...There were 4 people behind the counter dealing with all customers and about 5 people in line in front of me. The line was moving very slowly, and the staff seemed a bit slow and disorganized. The guy right in front of me, just left the line and said...I'm just going to go to the Post Office.. I finally got to the counter, got my QR code scanned and within a few minutes I got my receipt. Horrible service. Their hours on the website is incorrect, came to print and they said they were closing.

Where do I start? This sounds even more insane as I recall the events over the last 2 days but the bottom line is I placed an order online for Avery printable business cards, paid for them, and the site said they would be ready in an hour. I placed the order in the morning and headed over at about 1 pm. The 45 yr old woman cashier was dissmissive from the onset. She wasn't interested in listening and tried to send me to printing side. ( no honey, did you hear me? I ordered blank cards). I explained that it was an online order of blank cards that I bought ahead for convenience. The manager on Wednesday lingered around listening but never addressed me, and never tried to assist. She told me that I requested the order be shipped there and that it hadn't arrived- which was absurd because it was in stock and on the shelf. I am now into this for 1/2 hour. I asked if I could just take one off the shelf to which she replied "we can't do that" WHAT? Ok I'm out of time - it can wait until tomorrow. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. So ---I go over back Thursday at 1:15 and there she is again. I say that I really need them today. I am now better prepared and have my printed receipt and a copy of the order on my phone. She was still unwilling to help and insisted the order hadn't arrived. Staff is nice in a phony way HELLO at a screaming level upon entering the front door. Upon leaving the young man says "Have a NICE day!" with a sarcastic smile. They finally found the "delivery" in the back room after 40 minutes and just unwrapped it and handed off to me. No apology, nothing. The older woman offered no solution, no options, no courtesy, she was just plain rude, dismissive, unproffessional, and lazy, I guess for $10 an hour you can't expect much... Except you actually should! I frequented this Staples often a few months back for a project I was working on and the girl (who has since left) was beyond helpful and professional. So much so that when I happened upon her in her new job she was so excited to see me again - I actually wanted to hug her. The whole experience was so upsetting I actually did call customer service by phone and spoke with a young girl who was condescending and said "well we strive to provide good customer service, so thank you for calling". So there you have it. The emphasis here is not on customer satisfaction. So, Staples, I work in an office and we constantly need supplies. I'll be sticking with WB Mason from now on. They deliver within 24 hours to my manicured polished little fingers with no aggravation. I will NEVER step foot in Staples of Wakefield again or order online. read more

I used to come to this staples often and always found the employees pleasant and although the store is small, I could usually find what I was looking for. I print here often for school (usually spiral bound booklets ordered online) and was always happy with how they came out and was willing to splurge a little since it is a little pricey. However, over the past year or so this store has become absolutely awful. The employees there now are rude and always ignore me when I'm there. They've done a half-assed job on my prints the last few times (twice they hole-punched my doc for the binding, and punched through the edge of the page so all the pages fell out of the booklet). I eventually stopped printing there altogether unless it was urgent, in which case I used the self-serve copiers. The last time I was there I was trying to use the copy center about an hour before closing. The machines were so caked in dust that the machine was overheating and I was having a hard time getting my doc to print. Five or six employees (including the manager) were nearby at the front register and the print center and not one person offered to help or asked if I needed anything. Two kids who were working in the store even purchased a Rubik's cube for themselves and were playing with it while I was struggling at the printer by myself. The manager came over and I thought he was going to help me - or at least tell the kids to stop jerking off so they could help me - but instead he started half-joking-half-scolding the kids for purchasing items without a manager present, but ended up goofing off with them in the end (clearly they run a tight ship here at Staples...). While I was waiting for my copies, I also couldn't help but notice how absolutely disgusting the store was - it looked like it hadn't even been lightly vacuumed in months, if not over a year. Why wasn't the manager having them do a quick cleaning around the store until closing instead of buying toys for themselves?? Fortunately there are other places to print in the area like the UPS store and around URI. I highly recommend that you don't waste your time at this store. read more

I needed a report bound, landscape format and along the short edge of the paper. After slowly explaining how I wanted it done, the copy person returned it to me - bound the wrong way! Luckily, the other associate was able to reprint it and bind it correctly, hence the 1 star for redeeming themselves. They also failed to give me my thumb drive back. So disappointing! read more

Came here to re-bind one of my textbook. It didn't turn out like I wanted. They cut too much of the page off, so when they went to bind it, they punched holes into the words. Now I have to guess what the missing letters are. read more

I have been a loyal staples customer for as long as I can remember. I went there about a month ago to get my phone screen fixed and they were very nice the first time. I got this liquid armor suggested to me by the assistant manager and he told me that this was amazing and he proceeded to throw his phone across the store in demonstration of how awesome this product was. I got my phone screen fixed and a protector put on it for about $200. I was happy and everything was great. The next day I had to go back because my touch screen stopped working. They fixed it, but didn't put the liquid protector on so I had to wait longer and at this point it was just an inconvenience. It kept working for about a month and then I was shopping and my phone fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked and the touch screen stopped working. I brought it in and explained the situation and immediately the assistant manager was called over. He was the most condescending person I have ever met. I explained my situation to him and he instantly started accusing me of "running over my phone" seeing as I purchased this liquid armor and my phone should be protected. I started to get upset because I have had a stressful week and he was making me feel horrible. After this he explains to me, again in a condescending way, that it is going to cost me full price to get my phone fixed. I completely understand terms and conditions and all that corporate America stuff, what I don't understand is how someone can look someone who is sobbing in their store and laugh at them and make them feel like dirt. Nobody enjoys breaking things, I just had expected better customer service from this company. Someone to kindly explain to me what the situation was and what was going on. But instead I got a rude and patronizing explanation about how I could have "run my phone over" and how he is "running a business here". I left the store crying and still incredibly upset and brought my business somewhere else. The nice man at this place gave me a tissue and explained everything to me in a nice way and then told me while he was fixing my phone he noticed that the last people who fixed my phone forgot to put 4 screws back in my phone. Moral of this story: don't go to staples in Wakefield unless you want to deal with a manager who has a god complex and enjoys making 19 year old girls cry in his store front. read more

I love this Staples! Everyone that works there is awesome. The managers are all friendly and extremely helpful, Paulette, Steve, nice people. The copy center is the best, Indie, Alex, Caitlin, Marissa, every one of them does all they can to help you and always with a good attitude! The register at the front, super job guys.
