I needed to make a return to Amazon and so glad that Staples now do returns as well. I realize now that Amazon and UPS are now charging for certain returns which is crazy seeing as most people use Amazon due to the easy return policy, because that's what they sold us on. But anyway, I haven't been to this Staples in a while and now they have also added a Party City section which is cool. I noticed that all Staples are doing this now. As I walked around the store, I realized that it's still cheaper to buy on Amazon because when I started to compare their prices, they were more and the availability of some products were unavailable. I came to Staples to return an Amazon package, and the experience was unbelievably frustrating. There were around 50 people waiting in line with only ONE employee working behind the returns counter. Meanwhile, several other employees were standing around on their phones or joking with each other instead of helping. I felt bad for the one woman doing her best to handle an impossible situation by herself. It was disappointing to see such a lack of teamwork. When there's a line that long, everyone should be pitching in to help customers and support their coworker. Instead, it seemed like nobody cared. If Staples is going to accept Amazon returns, they need to staff appropriately or have employees step up when it's busy. Overall, it was a nice experience. It was quick. It wasn't crowded. Check-out was quick. The only negative thing I would say is that the aisles are not labeled so I had to walk up and down each aisle till I found a copy paper which I thought was reasonably priced. Since the new reorganization of accepting returns the lines are ridiculous. There is one person working and then there are customers who are inconsiderate and returning mountains of items at once while the line is outdoors. There needs to be some cut off as to the amount of items that can be returned at once or add more workers. Waiting for an hour or more to do a return for one item is crazy. read more

I went to print my resume and fax something. While sitting in the chair at the computer I got bit several times. When I told the worker he was nonchalant about it. I told them they need to remove the chair which I never saw happen. He put on gloves and sprayed it with febreeze. What is that supposed to do?? This location is only good for making your own copies, otherwise avoid if you want customer service that goes the extra mile. This branch is a lil bit lost in terms of layout and though there are a few signs, one can still get lost as to where to find what you need. One area is dedicated to mimi mart / grocery store items if that even makes sense. I've used here mostly for making prints, cards and banners and I have no complaints. My job is always done correctly and in a timely manner. Staff I've interacted with are always helpful and professional. A few of them going above and beyond. This evening I was the recipient of a nice deed from a member of staff. The store closed while I was still inside (9pm). I was the last customer and the lady was about to lock the door when she noticed me standing at the entrance. She enquired if I was okay. I told her I was waiting on my taxi. She invited me to wait indoors and said she wouldn't lock the door until my ride came. This sort of behavior from businesses unfortunately isn't the norm so I have to include it in my review. She was so nice and I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Lady with the crochet braids who said "hell it's too cold outside I ain't about to let you go wait out there" on Wed 14th December, 2016 YOU ARE WONDERFUL! Nuff respect due to you! On Wednesday evening 4/3 I design some 8x11 signs to post in local businesses that are still opened reminding customers to stay 6 feet apart during the lock down and sent them to staples for print. For some reason my email wasn't received. I need 90 copies to do all the businesses in my community. My total was $60. The cashier told me I had to pay $90 for rush print. I said it wasn't rushed I sent it the day before but he said he couldn't find it. I said I was only prepared to pay the $60 that I was expecting to pay and the business really need this signage ASAP to help stop the spread. The manager said it would take too many resources to print the 8x11 copies the same day and wouldn't be worth it for them to charge me $60. That makes no sense. I had to borrow the rest from someone just to print these copies. I was so hurt and shocked. I've been spending my money at this staples for well over 10 years. It took no extra resources to print the flyer same day or the next day. I would think Staples would care more about helping to stop the spread of Covid and keeping local businesses open than some silly $30. Especially since I had proof I sent it the day before. I came here to print a couple of items on a 5x7 photo card stock and it was like I was talking to a wall. First off, one young lady was helping out another customer and she was kind enough to then that she would be right with me. Once she said that, the lazy rep tucked behind her computer screen on her PHONE, makes an "oh crap!" Face and Then decides to finally get up to help me. They had no clue what I wanted done. She got an attitude until her manager had to come out and explain to her what I wanted. She huffed and puffed. Rude by the way. She then followed to tell me that I needed to cut my prints myself. MAJOR STRIKE. When I told her I am not doing that on THEIR machines, she said well then you "gotta pay $3". So I pulled out my receipt showing that the last time I didn't have to do anything as they described. And they preceded to tell me "well that was last time". Since this stuff was for my wedding, I canceled the whole order and went about my way. They are rude. Careless. Have no desire to help. They are their to run the clock and collect a check. Literally the worst customer service here. I've stayed away from this location for the past 3months because of it . Today I tried again thinking it would be quick and maybe things changed since most people are physically back to work and school and NO....same BS. In line for 20mins with one person in front of me. Subpar service. I asked for email to send my document to and attendant just said "read the sign". Ok got it then i email my doc. I just needed to print an email, add one signature and email back. Male attendant with dreadlocks would not help me because the other attendant had initially answered one question! He was very short with her also. Not organized at all. Other guests had mistakes and they weren't being taken care of either. Printing area looked disheveled and really chaotic. Avoid if you have a choice. I was returning an item with a receipt and the cashier had an attitude for no reason to start. Then I tried to find a sales associate to help me find the correct item, but it's hard to find sales associates in the store. When I finally found one he was on the phone taking a personal call. So I ended up finding the item myself. When I go back to the register, the same cashier isn't looking up at me and I'm standing there waiting. She's scrolling through her Instagram feed and takes a solid minute to notice a customer right in front of her. This is th first time in years I have been back to Staples. Today I went with my cousin and two of her children for back to school supplies. Not only were they lacking in many of the items needed but fo this time of year there was not one sales person on the floor to help. They were all behind the register or tech desk. All of these reviews are dated, but I see little has changed in a decade of horrible customer service. Spent three hours in the Valley Stream Staples today. I usually avoid this location because computers and printers are often out of commission and the Printing and Marketing Services Center is notoriously slow. Some of the workers are helpful for sure, but I witnessed a supervisor brutally berate an employee, who was working hard at addressing my needs with little support. It is a poorly managed store and I was given the excuse that they deal with such high volume unlike other stores, but I have been in stores just as busy and never waited as long or been met with such rudeness. After waiting in one line, I was told by one worker that I had waited on the wrong line and would have to go wait in another line that had gone from one person when I first arrived to multiple people. Ended up waiting an additional 40 minutes when the original worker could have easily helped me in about 15 minutes. The Staples corporation obviously doesn't care about this location at all as the people there don't seem to be well trained (with a few notable exceptions in a couple of kind employees/I wish had their names). They even have a sign warning people that it will be a 30-minute wait for any service. AVOID this location unless you have lots of time to literally burn. read more

If you're going here for the regular staples fare (paper, pens, etc...) they're serviceable. For me, I use the copy center in a different staples weekly. This one is horrendous. There were 2 associates there during my visit with approx 6 people waiting. They move like snails. Definitely being paid by the hour, not job. No one is greeted, zero sense of urgency. This is an issue in all locations to a degree. They never seem to have enough people working this area. I wish it was a better experience because I enjoy going to Staples (I realize that's slightly odd) but until they finally light a fire under their asses, I will not return here. read more

I came here looking for 2 particular items. I usually frequent the location in Bellerose, but being i was already in the area here was my option. This location is meh (it's one of those things you gotta say in your head). When driving down sunrise highway you are looking at the rear of the building. The actual entrance is in the inside block. The parking lot is poorly configured and is in much need of repaving. It honestly looks as if the Staples Corp forgot about this store. Upon entering the store it felt overwhelming, everything was just there ( the best description I could think of right now.) The aisles aren't configured the same as the other stores and this one is not the largest either. After slowly combing the aisles and shelves, I finally found what I was looking for. At checkout the cashier could use a lesson in customer service 101. She barely greeted and it definitely wasn't with a smile. I will stick with my Bellerose location. read more

While this is a small store, that is much nicer for me than a huge sprawling complex where I have to wander aimlessly just to find some paper or other random supply. Surrounded by mainly residential neighbourhoods, it makes sense to not bother with large office furniture selection and focus on what households will need. I come here to stock up on supplies for my home office, and frequently recycle not just printer cartridges but also electronics and old computer parts. They don't have Best Buy's aggravating policy of only 3 items per day, and I'm happy that my toxic items don't wind up in a landfill. Only thing to be careful of is that the parking lot entrance from Sunrise will sneak up on you, and I've more than once driven up the back streets to circle back to Staples' parking lot. The only reason that I'm giving 2 stars rather the 1 is because the staff was not rude. They were not helpful but they're not rude. I came to print something for work. I had to ask 4 different people to help me with printing. I first asked the representatives in the copy and print center and they pointed to printers that don't work. When I finally spoke with a manager he was absolutely no help telling me that my file was just too big. Neither the printer that I was trying to use nor the printers the representatives use will be able to open it. It's a 5 page off file!!!! I don't see how that's too big to open. Hello, Unfortunately for me it was just not acceptable service. I dropped into Staples yesterday afternoon to simply scan 15 pages of a file to an email address. There was 1 staff member behind the counter for the office work station. He kept his head down, busying himself with 'something'.....several minutes later I am still waiting.... Other customers came in, who knew what to do and where to go, dived on the printers and scanners. They also occasionally asked others who were working on machines what to do . I even asked 2 people who I assumed were staff members to help me. They were all customers One of the staff members finally addressed me and showed me what to do. She stood beside me and helped me. She then ran away while I ordered my receipt. I did want to check that the attachment worked before I left the store. I realized I could use my phone and did not need her anymore. It was half an hour before I could get WiFi on my phone. The attachment worked. I actually ended up purchasing my own Printer/Scanner, paper and ink. Just so that when I do need to do work at home I won't have to be exposed to just indadequate service. It was just annoying. Where is the motivated, glad to help, attitude? It's shocking really. It took me 10 minutes to find a staff member, who were not ' busy giving the impression that they are busy doing 'something' to help me choose the right printer/scanner.... Just went in here. Waiting online to print a flyer in color. Waited for 15 mins behind 2 ppl and when it was my turn. I was told they couldn't print my 20 flyers in color because other jobs who email them who weren't in the shop! Come before a customer standing in their store with money. I would have to wait a extra hour or two because I want it in color. What is the purpose of staples? I will go to kinkos. Or another company. Standing at staples just to be told! Color prints are only for orders placed online. I could of sat home instead of standing on line. Sadly I am sick with a tumor and I don't have time to waste and be treated as if my time isn't precious! The guy told me I could do it myself. So waiting on line was for my health apparently. This Staples is understaffed! I had an absolute horrible experience. Printing services sucks! Employees and Manager's, they don't even want to be there. No one to ask for help. No one to care. Before I came to this Staples I called, and called like three different times of the day starting from morning. I was on the line waiting for minutes, 15 min max, and they hung up on me each time. Unbelievable. When I came out of work I came straight here because i really needed these prints and waited on the line for the printing services. There was only one customer in front of me and normally I wait without a problem, but this was RIDICULOUS for sure. 45 MINUTES FOR ONE CUSTOMER!!!!! I WAS ON LINE FOR 45 STUPID MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile, the employee was just taking his sweet candy time dealing with one customer, a line almost to the door, began to form. I asked why was it taking so long (politely) and the employee was just acting dumb. Like not only was he moving slow as molasses, but he was editing the customers shit. This was crazy. I was about to loose my mind. Your editing a customers flyer or whatever...then you'll have the other customers wait until your done, meanwhile I only had 3 papers that just needed to be printed and laminated. 0 stars on this one. Me, looking around for the manager while I wait on line. The manager looks like he doesn't seem to care about his job either. He saw the line and said nothing...just kept minding his own business having no care in the world. Finally, the employee asked me what I needed and I told him. Then he says, OK he could get that done for me by tomorrow morning. I could not get it tomorrow I told him I need I it today, I was waiting on line for 45 mins why can't he do it today, it's just three papers. WDF! He then explained to me that there are other customers waiting and the line was to long and that was going to take up like 15 minutes. And there's nothing he can do about it. I was so confused because he was dealing with one customer for 45 minutes editing his paper and in the beginning, I was the only one there b4 the line grew. And because of this i can't get my paper's printed? This whole place was a mess. I would of done it myself but the Do-it-yourself printer was broken. I ended up going to the nearby Kinkos. We wanted to buy a chair here, but it took too long for the worker to help us. The store seems to be grossly understaffed. It seemed like the workers don't rush to do anything and it's okay to make customers wait. Normally, that's okay. However, it was starting to heavily snow and we needed to get home ASAP. Purchased a Verizon cell phone here and specifically asked for the salesperson to add insurance to the phone, which he said he would. My phone fell and cracked two days ago. The cost to repair is $300. I found out from Verizon that I never had insurance on it. And when I called Staples of Valley Stream about this, they denied being responsible and refused to give me any discount towards purchasing a new phone.
