The customer service at this store is consistently below par (that's putting it nicely). The lines take forever when you have returns or need help with a question about products. The staff are never helpful when you end up getting to them with a question. When we were just there this afternoon, the lady working the printing area shoo'ed us away when we had a question about the stock of the office chairs and she was just sitting there. As we were waiting in line to ask another person, she began screaming and yelling at these maintenance guys who were trying to work on displays in front of everyone. She was calling someone and continued to yell at them. It was at least 5 minutes of putting them down and we ended up leaving with nothing that we came them for. read more

Was once east for returns js not a nightmare. They put me in one line only to find out the line ends somewhere else so now I have to go behind all those people in the correct spot. To to checkout. Don't go to the printing center anymore. Maybe they do it at other parts of the day or other days but it is not happening today. First let's talk about the staff. The one lady that works at the copy station is the rudest person I have ever dealt with in retail. I watched her talk down to several customers and her manager. Next, the ONLY copy machine they had was broken and there were 5 people deep waiting to use it. The manager took my letter and copied it behind the desk area and the color was barely visible. I paid almost $300. for 300 copies...yep...$1.00 a copy. This store needs management that is available and without the attitude. Also tell Bill (the manager) to please spare us the sight of his butt crack. That just put the icing on the misery cake in that store. read more

Sorry so long: On June 9, at 12:59 pm, I contacted the UPS shipping department at Staples, 4727 Valley View Blvd NW, Roanoke VA 24012 - the call was to verify Google information that they shipped UPS packages from the store. I asked if they were busy and she said they were always busy, that someone would help us when they could in between their "regular work". I explained to her that we needed to check in for a flight at 1:30 pm at the airport nearby. Normally I would ship from the UPS by the airport, but learned that it was temporarily closed. The next closest place to ship from was Franklin Road, over 20 minutes away, so I was stuck with this option. I got inside the store with 4 small packages at around 1:05 pm and I was gratified to see that the shipping counter was empty, and there was a person behind the counter in that area. When I walked up, the lady did not greet me or even look up from her computer. I asked her if she could help me, she said no, only the manager could do the packages, but he was in the bathroom, he would "be right back". She kept her back to me the entire time I was there. I waited over 20 minutes and asked several times if she could page the manager, or help me herself. This person, whose name I learned was Hannah, was the absolute rudest person I have ever encountered in a customer service situation. I saw another employee walk by and requested she page the manager, Hannah yelled to her that the manager was in the bathroom, not to page him. I told Hannah again, that we had a plane to catch, could she please help. She just said no and kept working on her computer. During this period, there were at least 4 people that came up to another counter in the her area and Hannah greeted them with a friendly demeanor and helped them - while I'm standing there waiting with my packages. She then went right back to her computer work. I find this totally unacceptable for both Staples customers and UPS customers. There was another customer behind me with 3 packages, she left after about 15 minutes. So, the manager finally arrives from the bathroom.... He is abrupt as well, it felt like he had been briefed prior to coming to the counter. But, nevertheless, he started the process of weighing my 4 packages, about 3 minutes into it, he's asking Hannah for help - she promptly comes over and explains to him the process 3 different times while this transaction is happening. Hopefully you can recognize the irony in this situation and my frustration with a perfectly capable (apparently the expert on the process) employee simply ignoring my needs. Another note of interest, this employee was wearing a tshirt with the following printed in at least 2" letters on the back: "Delete my phone number forever". I find this behavior from a customer service oriented company and employee highly unusual and unacceptable. read more

Had a terrible experience on August 6, 2025 at Staples Valley View location in Roanoke, VA . The manager, Bill, was rude and dismissive when I came in to return an Amazon package. I asked him where in the store are Amazon returns taken and he replied "if you would have looked on the floor it would tell you where it is". I was shocked! Not to mention I have impaired vision and was very embarrassed. There was absolutely no reason for the attitude -- just unprofessional, dismissive and unhelpful. I expect better customer service, especially from someone in a management position. read more

I would give them 0 stars, if that were an option! I purchased an office chair and was told it would be assembled and ready in 24 hours. I called the store three different times (I tried different extensions) to see if it was ready before I drove there and was on hold for 14 minutes, 12 minutes and 12 minutes and no one ever answered. I went to the store and, of course, they hadn't even started it. The manager asked me to give them 30 minutes, I gave them 40, and when I returned they had assembled the wrong chair! The manager got pissy but said they would start on it while I waited. Twenty minutes later , all they had done was to open the box. The manager was talking with so other people and acted like he couldn't care less. I told him to just forget it, went to the register and got my money back. Bill from shipping and printing and the lady working with him have Zero situational awareness and horrible customer service. They were very slow to assist customers without them being approached themselves and once they finally noticed they made no adjustments to keep the flow of traffic continuin. I recommend going to another location for shipping and printing needs. read more

The front of the store was neither neat or inviting. There was a person sitting in a chair breaking down large boxes and when I asked about the copy shop they said what did I want and I said to "ask a question" they pointed out the person to ask over near one of the walls. I started walking that way and one of the people sternly said "stand at the counter" to which I ask where is it as the store seems to be made of cubicles. They pointed and said Right There! so I stopped and asked my printing question. They answered and I continued to browse. At no point was I asked if I needed any other assistance, just on my own. what a bland and bored crew that was. nope, never again. read more

I have come to this location several times .Every time I come to do business I am met with kack of help and outright confusion. simple things turn into big projects to not being able to be done . printing a label was not able to be completed finding an envelope was not possible and customer service is none existent. read more

Once upon a time, an Albanian super was talking to a friend about another tenant's new baby. The baby cried a lot and the parents were fretful about that, but the super was philosophical and just said "Baby is baby." He was basically saying that babies cry and as long as it's not sick or hurt, just let the baby be the baby. I found that somehow profound and have applied it (usually paraphrasing, not directly) to many aspects of my life. I tell you this so you understand my review of this place. Staples is Staples. If you need batteries or paper or a desktop printer, sure. Come here, why not? I came for batteries, the lady was nice and didn't say anything about me dripping in sweat because I'd just run six miles, so yeah, go to this Staples. It won't kill you. So, I just left Staples, and it was a downright disappointing experience. I went in there to make some copies, and as I'm there copying there was a guy in the copy center talking to another employee, and STILL, no one greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. I continued with my copies (which was about 8-10 minutes), and still nobody greeted me, but they continue talking. I then decided to grab a few things, and while roaming around the store, no one asked if I needed assistance. After roaming, and finding the things I needed, ON MY OWN, I made my way to the checkout line. It wasn't until then, then I was greeted. The lady they cashed me out, was courteous. Unfortunately, it took me being in the store for 20 minutes, and finding everything on my own, to be greeted. If you need to shop here, GOOD LUCK, because you're going to be navigating at your own peril. read more

I went in to print from their printer but due to the size of my file I was unable to use their in store printer. I took my flash drive to the print counter for help. Waited for almost 10 minutes until one of the two employees behind the counter looked up to assist me. I was immediately yelled at for standing in front of a swing gate, and told "Yea there's a sign there. You should look harder." I handed them my flash drive to get 20 color copies made and was told "We don't like to do small jobs, there's a computer over there you can use." I asked can you please just print them. "No." Very short, very unprofessional service from the print desk staff. Stay away from Staples at Valley View. We need OfficeMax back! read more

Living in Florida, I went to Office Depot all the time for printing, office supplies, and associated items. The staff was knowledgeable, and accommodating, "at your service". The print service was excellent, and if there ever was a problem, they took responsibility and remedied immediately, blaming the paying customer. The print service here is terrible and service in general is lackluster, indifferent. I travel all the way cross town to Office Max where the people are efficient, helpful, and know what they are doing. read more
