Was dropping something at the return center. Accidentally knocked some papers off the counter. Wouldn't be so bad but a few years ago I had a heart problem and a small stroke, so picking small items off the floor is a big no no. Update: the person who ripped me off is no longer working at this store. I am 95% certain it was that employee. She was the person who took the package and saw what it was (an expensive wallet) as the package was marked with it. (My mistake.) This person was very nervous with me, when there was no need to be nervous. (I had innocently asked for status the day after I handed it over to her.) She kept on being nervous when I came back to the store and talked to her, face to face. Thank God she is no longer at the store. Today was my first time attempting to return Amazon items at the Coos Bay Staples. Tabitha helped me through the process, and she was so patient and communicated the procedure to me very well. First of all, Staples only accepts packages; they are not the Post Office. It is not Staples' fault you did not wait for a tracking number or understand Staples is not USPS or UPS. Second, asking if someone is of age is what businesses do with tobacco and alcohol also. No one is offended by that. People abuse all sorts of crazy things. Copy center has good quality work but customer service is horrible. It's not the staffs fault, they are just way way way understaffed. Friday 4pm with 5 people in line and one staff person. Very aggravating! Update-I have done business with the copy center 100+ times since my original review above. The only reason I keep coming back here is because of two very patient, professional, ladies that work in the copy center. They are Aubrey and Mollie. i was on a trip to coos bay and needed a sd card reader adaptor so stopped in at staples here in coos bay,or i was met by a friendly hi from the cashier but that was hit no help in the store this was a more unusual staples in that it had very long rows of things. but my friend and i found the more common things like sd cards were no where to be found let alone an adaptor. For an elderly person or in this case two people tis wearing to have to walk aisle after aisle searching with little identification of what was on each row aside from one set of rows which nothing related. we looked around for help but none we searched the whole store which was big but nothing so we walked out read more

I know it isn't nice to judge a place by their restrooms, BUT... Shoppers do need to use them, right? This is the BEST place to shop and remain comfortable while doing it. The restroom could be a whole "other division" of the store! It's clean, well equipped, and you don't even have to touch the towel dispenser. I happen to like that! Now, about the store... I do find it fun to shop here since I ordinarily find what I'm looking for, and often on sale. I'm 50/50 with the staff. The manager is great, friendly, and very helpful! Never been a time when I'd say he was "off his game" as far as consumers go. However... the staff really needs to become better educated about life outside Coos Bay. I actually had a staff person tell me that "Nobody uses Apple computers". And they were serious! Apparently, what they don't stock, they don't believe anybody uses. Since nobody seemingly caters to the Mac users (and yes, there are MANY of us in the area) I would think it wise for Staples or some appropriate store to become better educated, carry needed supplies, and have a tech on staff who specializes in servicing Macs. But apparently, that will never happen since they haven't yet heard of them. :) One thing I love about this store is the layout. You can see all across the store from any given location, and pretty much see where the isle would be you need to find what you're looking for. Love the rewards system they use, and being able to recycle my printer ink! All in all, I think this is a good store to support in our community. And... be sure to shop here if you think you may need to use a restroom! Seriously! You don't have to catch a bus to get there, and you can be sure someone has cleaned the recent vomit we all find in public restrooms these days! DISGUSTING, but true. read more

Ever wonder what a store of bureaucratic zombies would be like? Visit Staples and find out...LOL! The first clerk I talked to had some sort of problem responding like a real person and that was just the start of my visit to find something to clip game boards together. He wasn't a hostile sort, just somewhat out to lunch. Then after he says they had nothing to help me, I did some looking around and found these clips in the bulk sales bin. All I needed was 4 cheap made in China clips. You would think this would be the easiest slamdunk sale of the century for a company that says in their ads, "That Was Easy!". It wasn't. The girl at the checkout stand couldn't handle the situation of a simple sale so I asked for the manager. He came out, I explained my situation nicely and he could not do anything to sell me 4 little clips and I would have to buy a whole container's worth at $5.99 to get them. Excuses about product codes and such. Hey, isn't there a Misc. Sales button to hit on your reigster? Ever here of taking care of the customer? How about "That Was Easy"? Guess not. The manager got a bit snippy with me as he walked off with a final negatory and left me to wonder what the heck is wrong with treating people right and accomodating very reasonable requests. I needed the clips so I bought the bulk container and crammed it full with all sorts of stuff that I'll see if I can give away to other family members and friends. When I got home I sent off a message to Staples' website, left my name, email address and phone number as requested and never heard back from them. Oh maybe they'll call me in 6 months or somesuch longish delay but hey, when there's problems at hand, step up to bat and deal with them. Don't ignore the customer and don't tick 'em off either! I give this Staples 2 stars instead of 1 since it was clean and I did find what I wanted, along with a whole lot I didn't want. With so many people out of work in Coos Bay, you would think they can do better than the current group that works there. Jobs are precious these days and so are customers. I'll start with what I liked about this place. They aren't pushy, and they don't care if you are finding what you are looking for. I have had annoying experience with Staples outside of the area. I find that the employees stalk you. I actually go out of my way to avoid them, and they will chase me down just to ask me if I am finding everything. Once I ran out of a Staples because within 3 minutes of being there I had 7 employees chase me to an aisle to ask me if I was ok, and 2 employees actually asked me twice. This Staples does not do that, and I am eternally thankful for their small town resistance to customer service in this instance. Which leads me to what I don't like. I called to ask a simple question, and no one could answer it. After sitting on hold for about 10 minutes some kid took my number and promised to have the manager call me back. I knew they would never call me back, and I was right. I ended up driving up to Eugene to go to Best Buy since they could answer a question by phone. Just don't expect to much, and you will not be disappointed. read more

I bought a Dell computer her in September and have brought it back repeatedly re various issues, mostly concerning the fact that the system wants to install updates and when I try to do so, it tells me I don't have enough storage. Each time I go to the service center I have to wait and each time the woman on duy helps me but she clears out whatever she needs to and the updates are installed but, within a few days, the same issue arises Last time I was told by the assistant manager that I need to buy an $80 external hard drive because I do not have enough storage. Tonight I just emptied the Trash and the system asked "Why empty the trash when you have so much storage? said I had used only .08 % of my 15 gb storage. I'm no wizard at this stuff but what is wrong the Staples' tech assistance. Or is it just the Coos Bay lack of trained staff and a prevaricaing assistant manager? read more

My husband and I went to the Coos Bay Staples store on Friday Oct. 23 2015, looking to purchase a laptop computer, we walked around the display ( very limited I might add) three or four times looking for something we liked. No less than four people (employees) walked past us, like we were invisible. No one asked if we needed help, or were being helped or even someone will be with you soon. I will not grace this store again, this seems to be the norm as it is not the first time. There are other outlets that are willing to give customer service. They will get our business. read more
