Yelp rating doesn't lie, just avoid this place. Here's what happened to my wife today: "I made an appointment for an eye exam, and arrived promptly on time for this exam. When I entered, I was not greeted by the three staff members, who were talking amongst each other, although there was nobody else inside the clinic aside from me. I addressed one of the staff, and I was told that the doctor assigned to perform my eye exam was on a lunch break. This is because the doctor's previous appointments ran overtime, and he/she was unable to leave for his/her lunch break at his/her regular time. Instead, the doctor left for a lunch break at precisely the time I was scheduled for my eye exam. I live an hour away from Visalia - the place where my appointment was to be held. I purposely freed my schedule to make this appointment. I drove an hour to my appointment, and would now have to drive an hour back, without any results. I was first told that the doctor would be back in an hour, and I could either wait an hour to be seen, or reschedule my appointment. Though I was upset to hear this, I was ready to wait an hour to finally be seen. Another member of the staff then notified me that I would have to, in fact, wait longer than the previously mentioned hour to be seen. This is because there were people ahead of my appointment time, who were not yet seen by the doctor, because previous appointments from earlier in the day ran overtime, and now the doctor went to lunch. This staff member explained that the doctor cannot control this schedule, which is why the appointments ran overtime, and other people besides myself would have to wait more than an hour to be seen. There seems to be no respect for the time of their customers. It doesn't make sense to then schedule people if the doctor cannot keep up with the appointments, such that everyone can be met in a timely manner. Furthermore, I was not notified of this delay ahead of time, and had to drive an hour in order to learn this information. This place will disappoint anyone who has an expectation of satisfactory service. This is a private establishment, which seems to have no care for the wellbeing of its customers, which necessarily affects the wellbeing of its business. I am indeed very disappointed, and if you value your time, this is not the place to service your needs. I regret not looking at the reviews of this place before I made the appointment. Now, I see how 1 and 2 star reviews are consistently cropping up. I am wondering how these reviews keep cropping up; it seems as though the business owners are completely ignoring people's comments about their experiences. AVOID THIS PLACE! I have zero confidence in this company's "eye exam" procedures. There's no one to explain your individual issues and needs to and to top it off there isn't even a licensed eye doctor at this location, it's just a silly Zoom call!! Stanton is wrong for not letting customers know this when booking their appointments, if I had known this in advance I wouldn't have been seen here. My husband and I both needed eye exams and new glasses, so we went to Stanton on Mooney in Visalia. The eye exam was very quick and something out of the Jetsons. Our exams we're almost $100 each and we were not impressed. Time for new glasses. We felt like we were at a used car dealership. We can do this and we can do that....$1k later, we ordered 3 pairs of glasses with the works. Ok, super pricey but we got top of the line lenses and nice frames. Pick up day. Wow!!! We don't see as well as we'd like but it takes a while to get used to a new RX. So we try. I'm pretty sure that our quick eye exam wasn't what it should be. Also the bifocal area on all three pair are not in the usual line of vision. Lesson learned. It's been a few months now since our last visit and my husband can't see the numbers on the clock a few feet away and I can't read my computer screen as I'd like. If I tilt my head a certain way and wait a couple of seconds, I can make out what I need to but......We won't be back. read more

My parents went in to get some glasses fixed and lets just say I do apologize on my fathers behalf for his language but the dispute between the older man and my father had nothing to do with my mother. She only came in to tighten her nose buds and once in the car there was a fresh cut straight down the middle longer than an inch. Mind you she's pregnant and literally was the one who halted my father from saying any more harsh things. It's odd how some can still mistreat a customer who's 5 months pregnant in showing. I had a great experience with Stanton. I needed to get my toddler glasses and was having issues at a different optical shop sizing my daughter for frames. I was told previously she was a size 42 which is waaaaaaaaaaay too big. She's not even 1 & 1/2 yet, and typically that size fits 8-10 year olds & older. Delia sized her perfectly at a 37 on a Saturday and I was able to pick up her prescription that following Monday. Granted she has a very simple prescription, but I was blown away with how fast the turn around was, especially during COVID when it seems like everywhere is running gracefully behind. This is by far the worst please go get your glasses there are no real doctors. They have you do a video call with the supposed doctor that barely knows what they're doing. Do not be fooled, this is not an optometrist office, this is a glass selling store. The people here are not trained to work for an optometrist. The people that work here are salesman. Nothing more, nothing less. They will do whatever is needed to sell you a pair of glasses before you leave and trick you into paying a premium because your glasses are "specialty made". FOR ANYONE SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH, DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL HAVE YOUR PRESCRIPTION WRONG. Its not even cheap. The area was very clean and organized beyond my expectation. They had so many nice glasses to choose from. The office set up was so easy...made me feel like I was shopping. Scheduled an eye exam and was seen fairly quickly. However, after the exam the doctor insisted that because I sit at a computer every day I needed only lenses for close up work. I told him no, my screen was more than arms length from my seated position and I needed my lenses to be like my old glasses, distance and progressive bi-focals. Then I got the estimate for these glasses....$515!!!! Was told it was so expensive because I get 2 pair so really it was 50% off both pair. I think not. I took the prescription and was told by the person helping "No problem, you'll be back anyway". NOPE. I sent away to Zenni Optical the new prescription hoping it was going to solve my issues. WRONG!!!! The doctor decided he knew best for me and I could not see a thing distance or up close. I then scheduled another exam with a different optometrist and explained my issues with my first exam. Upon the new doctor checking past prescriptions to the new prescription it was so far out of line he was surprised if I could see. So at this point I have spent $39 for the exam at Stanton which was worthless, another $125 to see another doctor and finally a pair of glasses that have all the bells and whistles for less than $200 all while wearing 5 year old glasses that work better than what was prescribed by Stanton. Oh boy. Little did I know you actually don't get an eye exam from an optometrist in person, it's all done by a Skype type process. No personal touch, no way to communicate any issues you're having, it's you and a person probably in a foreign country. When you get glasses you must make it clear you only want the 2 for 58 or they will sell you up to $200-$300. I made it clear I only wanted the special so that's what I got. Just like any medical office, you will have a wait, they also take walk ins or will schedule you an appointment later that day. I purchased my own glasses there, I paid almost twice what their special advertised because I chose more attractive frames than their base models so I did pay more. I also chose anti scratch coatings on my senses. My daughter is the reason I'm reviewing. She is 6 and it became apparent that her reading was not progressing as it should. She needed a strong prescription and I didn't know how strong until we went in. Every person there treated us with kindness and compassion while we were served. It did take long so we did wait. I saw them also serve walk ins and appointments, I saw them serve people who's glasses weren't quite right and needed repair. Every staff member was hard working, kind and caring to every person who came in. I paid out of pocket for my daughters much more expensive lenses which she absolutely needed. The sales person added on anti glare for free for her astigmatism because I couldn't afford it. I didn't ask for it to be added, they added it because they knew she needed it. Her glasses were ready in an hour. She put them on and looked at her school books. "I can read now!" All of that struggle, all year because she needed glasses. Once I realized this is not a storefront like Best Buy or Walmart, but a medical office, I began to look at it differently. Stanton optical has served my family well. I have many complaints. They do not do scheduling very well. My wife and I had appointments on a Friday at 4:00. We were not given our pre-tests until about 4:30. After the pretest we were told the doctor could not see us because he was leaving. Extremely unprofessional. We rescheduled and went back. The doctor is nice. And the employees are reasonably attentive, when they're not looking at their cell phones. We paid for the eye exam and were offered the 50% discount on eyeglasses, but because we couldn't be seen the first time and they were near closing the second time, we asked if we could still get the 50% off our glasses being that we had previously been inconvenienced. The assistant manager, Delia came over to us. I asked if we could be given the discount. She said "yes we'll honor it... if you buy a year worth of contacts from us". WHAT?!? There was no mention of contacts in the original offer. I told her I didn't want contacts. And with much attitude she said "why don't you want to buy contacts?" And I informed her that we buy them online and we were there mainly for the exams because there contacts are too expensive but we were interested in glasses if given the discount. She totally ignored what I said and looks at a fellow employee and said "it's cold in here". WTF?! So while most of the staff is ok (just listening to most of them talking to people on the phone shows how unprofessional they can be), Delia was super rude and disrespectful. We put down a lot of money for very basic eye exams and get treated like we're not customers. Will not return. read more

I recently received services from Dr. Cypress and 2 associates from this office for an eye exam and eyeglass purchase. I rarely take the time to make a negative review due to a very busy schedule and I am a quite tolerant individual however this was an experience I feel warrants a review to give others an opportunity to make an informed decision to use their service or not. Suffice it to say I will NOT be returning to this Stanton location again and would not recommending it due to their customer service. It is one thing to receive incompetent customer service, it is quite another to receive basic service with a slight tone of arrogance and annoyance. It was the way they were going about their job that really rubbed me wrong. For several years I have used Costco's optical department in Visalia and Clovis and have not had any issues with their optometrists or their associates. Holy crap, I was amazed by the service and helpfulness I received here from Sabrina! She's super polite and knowledgeable about any questions you might have. Sabrina got me some great deals for 2 pairs of glasses, honored my online coupon, saved me a ton of money, AND she's fun to talk to :) The frames here are buy one pair get one free and so are the lenses. For my 2 brand new glasses I paid less than $150, even with my crazy prescription lenses which they actually had in stock! With all the money I saved, I went to the Bevmo across the street and bought a few bottles of Fireball, vodka, and Malibu :) All in all, it was a great shopping experience, I highly recommend this eye care center. I found the staff to be extremely helpful and especially Martha, the manager. She was very patient with me as I couldn't decide on which frames so she helped me with that. When you go alone and don't have anyone to help you look at frames you really need their help and Martha delivered. She made sure I was completely satisfied with the end result and I now have 2 pairs of glasses that I just love. Thank you Martha for also helping me get the discounts available to me. We have been sitting here waiting for almost an hour they take your insurance card but they don't tell your benefits and then they start doing the exam. This is a ridiculous way to do business and then you're out in the open with everybody getting your information and getting your benefits there's no privacy. There is no such thing as HIPAA around here. Do not come to Staton optical. Visited Staton optical on Mooney on visalia and they messed up my order and never called insurance to fix it. I am now without contacts that they were supposed to order. To add insult to injury when I went in to get it resolved and figure out why they didn't process my Order the manager JUAN RUIZ was so rude to me. Poor customer service skills. I have done buisness here multiple times and brought family members here to do buisness with them Just to get treated like they don't care about customer service. Will not be going back And need to find out how Staton optical is going to resolve issues with customer service at this particular location. I went in for contacts, they hounded me to buy glasses as well. Then the next day call me and say they don't have the frames so come. Back and pick out new frames I went back and got my copay refunded for the glasses. Manager said he would notify my insurance. Two weeks later I find out they never ordered my contacts and they never notified my insurance to void glasses sale. So I go in to find out what happened and voice my concerns to manager Juan ruiz. Worker was rude to me and Juan ruiz the Manger was rude. Instead of saying " I'm sorry we messed up and didn't order your contacts and I didn't notify insurance to void the glasses , let me resolve this issue with your insurance and have you come back to order the contacts" he said "well you didn't order contacts, look at your receipt, you're bashing me and I can't help that you feel that way" So I left with no resolution. Staff is always friendly and helping out in anyway, This week I had to take my son to get a new pair of glasses the minute we walked in someone was wiping down and sanitizing everything. I ordered to pair of glasses and got them the same day which was great. Except they were already scratched. So they had to reorder the lens. And they will cut them and put them in when I go to pick up my other glasses. I called to ask them if they could mail my glasses to me since I am home self isolating due to the Coronavirus. I am high risk due to ongoing health issues. They asked me where I lived. But since I live in the same town they can't mail them to me. They have to be picked up. I sent my husband to pick them up. Soooo my mother had to get new glasses and called previous talking to an associate about her situation. Told her to come in by 7 ( closing time) and he'll take care of her. We came in about 23 min till closing. They were supper friendly and ready to help. My mom had asked for a certain associate, couldn't remember his name unfortunately. Well, he saw my mom at the door, greeted with a great smile and attitude. He was so nice to my mom because she tends to be a shy woman and made her feel comfortable. He made sure my mom left the store happy and letting her choose any frames she desired. My mom loves her new glasses. Great customer service and charming staff.
