I havent been to get my eyes examined in over 10 years and Sierra Eye was recommended by a co-worker. All Inclusive office, from surgical services to basic eye exams. The office is a little dated but very clean and nice. Office staff were pleasant, Dr Gerlach was great. Though my visit was 90 minutes long, I did feel I got a through exam by the tech and doctor. I helped myself to a new pair of BVLGARIs in their optics department, which seemed well stocked. I was happy with the service, will be seeing them in a year! Steve out read more

It was recommended by my optometrist that I see an ophthalmologist for some changes found on my last exam. I made an appointment with Dr. Stephen Cantrell. Dr Cantrell and his staff were great and I received good news during my visit. My only issue is that it took six months for my appointment which added to the stress of being told to see an ophthalmologist. read more

I had a cataract check appointment scheduled for 6 months. I get there there today and after waiting for 45 minutes, people literally getting called back and coming out, and the office manager finally comes out and tells me "It was me, I'm so sorry, your appointment was scheduled with Dr Cantrell but your previous cataract repair was with Dr Kirkman and he's not here so we have to reschedule". They waited 45 minutes to tell me this?? read more

This was my first time seeing Dr. Baloian (optometrist). She was thoroughly prepared for my visit, very familiar with my file, and was very personable. She answered all of my questions and helped with some tips on eye drops. The staff, as always, is professional and greeted me with a smile. read more

My 2nd visit to the Sierra Eye Group. Seeing Dr. Cantrell who is monitoring potential glaucoma. Which itself can be intimidating & concerning. The entire Sierra Group staff has been professional and proficient. I can't say enough about the confidence I have in Dr. Cantrell who is very thorough explaining the status of my condition. In which I walk out of that office knowing if my condition was to reach the need for treatment. I know I'm in good hands! read more

Sitting in the back waiting area listening to someone around the corner ranting and complaining about how long I was taking to fill out paperwork and complaining that other employees weren't doing their jobs correctly. When I spoke up to ask who was being so loud and unprofessional I was told it was doctor Baloian. This woman then hid from sight. We will not be back. Apparently they were bought out and are now a corporate office. The assistants were lovely. read more

Dr. Kirkham and his staff are very professional. I feel very comfortable in his clean office. The staff is friendly and make you feel at ease. I highly recommend coming here. My cataract surgery went so smoothly I can see 20/20 now !!! read more

Absolutely! We moved away in 2023, but we did use them the rest of our time in Visalia- over the years the optometrists and opticians knew us, always asked about our kids by name and we felt so at home. Thank you for all your years of wonderful care and service. read more

First time there. Very efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful, professional, and kind Services provided by Dr. Kirkman and his staff! My wife and I were suffering from terrible bilateral eye infections, and Rosa immediately scheduled appointments for us. Dr. Kirkman and his assistant spent considerable time diagnosing the issues and prescribed treatment that fully restored our health. Dr. Kirkman also scheduled follow up appointments to make sure our eyes were back to normal, and again, he and his assistant spent generous time to make sure we were on the path of good health! Thanks to Sierra Eye Group we have very "happy eyes!!" read more

I had a great experience at Sierra eye medical group. Their staff is second to none I would highly recommend them.

Exam was ok . Was not told needed an appt to pick up glasses. Waited over 2 weeks for only 1 pair to come in and waited over an hour to pick up. After spending 2000 dollars. The reception girls are rude and don't give a/f. I will be going somewhere else from here on out. read more

Times have changed. I have gone here for 12 years. No availability for 5 months so was referred elsewhere for an eye exam but still wanted to get my frames here. Worst experience ever! Shocked. Called for NINE days to ask if I could come get frames only. Sent to voicemail and or put on hold until they hung up over 30 minutes. So finally after 9 days someone rudely answered and told me I could go in. Great! I'll go tomorrow after work. Went in at 4pm, only two people in the lobby. I asked if I could look at frames and the front desk girl said I have to check. She went to the other area and I heard them say no even though nobody was there. Then she comes to me and says well you can look but they can't help you so if you want to buy you have to make an appt. Really? I went and looked and after listening to two woman behind the wall talking about there personal life, I left. Nine days I called just to pick out frames and treated like dirt. Shocking. read more

Went in today for an eye exam. They had a nice air conditioned waiting area, and staff took care of me very quickly. I saw Dr. Cantrell who helped me find my eye prescription. They also have a huge selection of prescription glasses and sunglasses for you to try. Highly recommended for eye care needs! read more

Hello. I was able to see Dr. Stark at Sierra Eye Medical Group. Dr. Stark was extremely kind and was definitely thorough. His level of knowledge was evident throughout the visit. Dr. Stark took his time with me and answered every question I had. The entire staff at Sierra Eye Medical Group was professional and knowledgeable. Also very friendly. Janet was the technician who got the appointment started with the vision testing etc. She also was a huge help! Chad Bellin read more

I'm waiting room for 1 and 1/2 hours. This is the worst customer service ever. I will be finding another dr who won't waste my time in the waiting room. read more

I had an excellent experience with my recent eye exam at Sierra Eye Medical Group. The staff were courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I was able to book an appointment only a few weeks ahead, when my regular eye doctor was not taking reservations until August. I took advantage of their offer of a procedure for digital retinal imaging rather than dilation (for an extra fee), which gives me photos documenting the status of my retina. I was overall very pleased with their service. read more

The eye exam went great, but the rest has been a nightmare going on over 3 weeks and no glasses yet, have call 4 times now and keep get one lie after another. Yesterday was told that they didn't pass inspection and had to be re-fired. read more

First time at this practice; saw Dr Gerlach. Great experience from start to finish. Everyone was incredibly friendly and professional.

Thank you Sierra Eye Med! I was traveling thru Visalia and was having issues with my contacts. Luckily, I was able to be seen that day by Dr. Cantrell. She listened to my concerns and fit me in a new pair of contacts. I left seeing and feeling so much better! If I lived in Visalia, this is where I would take my family for their optometric needs. read more

I saw Dr. Michelle Cantrell here and had a really good experience. All the staff was professional and treated me well. Dr. Cantrell really took her time with me and made me feel comfortable in what was a bit of a scary situation for me. I highly recommend Sierra Eye Medical Group & Dr. Michelle Cantrell. read more

I have been a contact wearer for years. Had the same doctor for 6 years. We moved to a new city, Vislaia. Pick this place and regret it. The service is horrible. Front desk woman (sounds like she's an avid smoker & is watched her do this on the side of the building) *1st visit: standard exam for contacts and glasses. Doctor was great. They said they would be giving me a trial contacts for the new proscription. Didn't have in stock- said no thanks. Didn't hear from them for over 3.5 weeks. Called to see if my contacts were ordered and they were not.. Unknown reason. Called again to ask to pick up my prescription and turn it in elsewhere- they told me I owe $60 for trial contacts that I never got. Then she said oh well that's the fee to release. I paid it so I could see again. Get home and they didn't give me the glasses prescription. They said I didn't do an exam for that. Which was lie. Have insurance docs to prove they charged them for it. 2nd attempt: due to covid I was not able to do any eye exams with new doctors. You are required new exams when you're a new patient. Called talk to the same smoker lady. Very kind willing to help and said we aren't doing any exams. But we are extending current Prescriptions to current patients. But will have to call me back because the doctor was at the Handford location. This was on a Monday morning. Gave her until Friday that same week to get back to me. Call Friday left a message no one called me back. Called Monday left a message no one called me back. Call Tuesday left a message no one called me back. Wednesday decided to just walk in- she never talk to the doctor. When I told her I left messages and no one has called me back she pick up the phone and looked at it said nope no messages. She once Again said he was in the Hanford office and was unable to extend the prescription. When I told her she was also supposed to order six months worth of contacts she never did. When she realize she dropped the ball she forge the signature of the doctor to extend my prescription when she told me she cannot do that without the doctors signature and approval. Which she never got. read more

Sierra Eye Medical group is one of the most professional offices that I have ever been to. Dr. Cantrell and staff are amazing! I have been known to have challenging eyes and they were able to fix my vision quickly and accurately. I also love their optical center and the selection of glasses that are available. If they do not have the exact pair, they will order them. Great customer service!! Go to Sierra eye if you want great customer service and vision!! read more

Second generation, very satisfied patient. Excellent care received with eye exam, prescription for glasses and glass frame fitting. Front staff are great. They have a patient for life. read more

Awesome client care. I really appreciate the extra time taken to help me choose a frame.

Very fast and nice staff, got me in and out before baby was able to throw a fit from boredom :) would recommend this place for sure.

I am the first to admit that I am an incredibly difficult patient. I have gone to numerous optometrists and for years I suffered with uncomfortable contact lenses. Nothing worked. Dr. Michelle Cantrell figured out my problem 5 years ago and I am forever grateful. Sierra Eye came highly recommended from a friend who lives in Visalia. I live 200 miles away and travel to Sierra Eye once a year for a check up. The staff is friendly and they always go out of their way to make sure that I am comfortable. I recently purchased a pair of glasses that love. See my profile pic. I will never go any place else. read more

Great place for glasses! They have a lot of selection. Carrie was friendly and helpful. My spouse and I came here for glasses and left with two pairs of glasses. We will recommend this place to our family and friends :) read more

This place is great if you want to spend over an hour in the waiting room. Another added bonus is the staff can't read paper work and find out a first name even though you put it down 5 times. So if waiting and constantly having to correct the receptionist in your cup of tea then head on over there! read more

I have to commend the office for taking the Coronavirus seriously; however, it should not be at the risk of their patients. I arrived with my SO to support him as he suffers from severe anxiety. They told me I was not allowed in because I was not a patient. I replied that I needed to be with him and my concerns were dismissed and I was told he would be fine. Knowing that the act of me standing up for him would only cause his anxiety to rise I reluctantly went to the car. I am glad that so many people do not understand anxiety because it means they don't have to feel the fears associated with this debilitating disease. Unfortunately his anxiety is severe enough that he will unfortunately be unable to catch everything the Dr says and will probably answer question with answers that will get him out as so as possible. His memory of the experience will be foggy to say the least. If he was just getting glasses that would be fine but since he has excessive pressure on his eye and had a ruptured blood vessel and is at risk of going permanently blind I would think that the Dr's office would take his condition seriously and insure he has all the support he needs to start healing and prevent his condition for getting worse. Unfortunately, this was not the case and very little of what was said in the room was not retained making it impossible to stay on top of this scary condition. So I have to ask: Is having one more person in the Dr's office during the time of the examination increase the chances of spreading the virus more dangers/concerning than the possibility that a patient will go blind for the rest of his life? read more

Sierra eye Optomotrist is by far the last resort Optomotrist. Seriously if your a basic eye glass wearer and can make Carry and Alvas job easy. Than by all means take your chance. Otherwise, stay clear of this place. These women clearly don't know the first thing about customer service. For two older ladies being in the business of a service oriented career, they have lots to learn. I recently switched from another facility due to the business closing and Sierra eye group came as a highly recommended place to see your eye dr and pick out your prescription glasses. The dr is wonderful and her staff. It's when they walk you down that last mile to the dreaded Optomotrist your nightmare begins. I received a pair of glasses I didn't like because they were too blurry for me. Carry and Alva acted like they were physically making the glasses themselves. They also Acted like they were paying for them out of their own Pocket. I have the best eye insurance, plus I pay extra to get designer frames and all the bells and whistles. These two miserable ladies went out of their way to be condescending, rude and straight out nasty. To throw in my face how they had to redo my glasses because I didn't like them. Carry even had the audacity to call me rude.... when I was telling her, she was being rude! Stay away from this place the exterior niceness is all an act their really behind the scene talking smack about their patients. This Is why she flipped a switch when I called her out on it. The walls are not as thick as you think. Plus there's no doors. Next time wait until the patient leaves before you and your side kick set a negative aura in the room and talk under your breath about a patient only sitting ten feet away from you! read more

I can't say enough great things about the positive experience I had at Sierra Eye. The front office staff was very warm and welcoming. I have also had the good fortune of dealing with both Dr. Cantrells at Sierra Eye. Their "bedside manner" was the best I have ever seen. I was immediately put at ease when I met with them. I have had some difficult issues with my eyes and after seeing other doctors who weren't able to help me I was recommended to Sierra Eye. I'm pleased to say that my problems have been resolved. I am convinced this is the best medical group in Tulare County. It is well worth my 2 hour drive to come to Sierra Eye. read more

Wow ! I'm surprised to read the negative reviews. I've been there twice in the last 2 years & my visits were nothing but easy. I needed to get tested for glaucoma & cataracts & it was smoothe sailing. read more

First off initially making my appointment the person who took my call was unable to find out who my eye insurance was through even though I gave them my insurance card info so we just scheduled an appointment but they said I needed to call and find out who my vision insurance provider was and call back.. So I get a call the next day from the optometrists office saying they found out who my provider was so I don't have to worry about it. So I go into my appointment at 2:30pm I really just need to get cleared for a physical because I do mma I seriously feel like they were making things harder than they needed to be first they gave me two options to check the back of my eye They can use a Machine to take pictures or dilate them the old school way I was of course trying to go for the pictures one then they said it was $30 dollars more REALLY?!?! You guys are just over charging cause the other optometrist dose not charge extra for that so I was unprepared for that fee so I had to get my eyes dilated which was annoying because I missed a 6pm training session due to me not being able to see anything also they would put me in one room check my eyes then put me in another room have me wait then someone came in and told me I was in the wrong room I was supper unorganized then when I picked out my glasses they didn't say look around they were more like what do you want we will bring the glasses to you that we think you might like then try to up sell me a bunch of crap I don't want by the end of it I go to pay and they are like it's going to be $75 and I was like ok I have to pay all of that today and they said yes so I wanted to use $50 cash and the rest on card the girl who was charging me looked like an intern and she didn't know really how to do that so it took a long time because she needed help. The whole process took around 2.5hrs The incompetence of the staff was surreal I will not go back to that place read more

Great doctors, and the ladies in the eyeglass store are wonderful, HOWEVER, its not worth putting up with the HORRIBLE service you get from the techs & girls in the front. They're rude, talk about you like your not standing there, and have horrible attitudes. Not worth coming back. You deal more with them than the Dr. Themselves. read more

Worse experience I ever had. The doctors are good but the staff experience was horrible. From the frustration of the incompetence of the front office, receptionists, billers, etc- to the rudeness of the back office staff. Icing on the cake-finally make it through the experience to get to the surgery coordinator named Rita who was the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire life. Sorry for the doctors they were the saving grace. I feel bad I am sure they are unaware of the way their staff treats patients. DONT GO!!!!!! I would rather have bamboo shoved down my fingernails than the frustration of having to deal with the staff again. read more

I just had a terrible experience. I took in my 16 year old son for an exam. I sat in the waiting room, waiting for the doctor (Gerlich) to notify me after the exam for the results. He never did. My son shows up 2 hours later. He had been shown to the store to try on glasses. No one ever thought to consult the parent!!!! At the counter they charged me $140,00, I refused and asked why I had not been consulted. They said nothing, and refunded my money. Not even an apology. This was outrageous, I will never go back. read more
