I would give zero stars if i could. To start...they are false advertising. I went there instead of my usual optometrist because money is tight. My 12 y/o son wears glasses and is a boy so u can imagine how many glasses we go through. I also wear contacts and was in serious need of at least a pair of glasses to get me through till i could buy some contacts. Their 2 for $78 was, i was informed after i paid for the prescription, only a selection of four glasses that wouldnt fit an elephants face......so i let my son choose two glasses, the guy says he can give me a discount if we buy the glasses there...WITH discount, ends up being over 450.00!!!!! I tell the guy thats not anywhere near my budget and with attitude tells me "well what did uou EXPECT to pay????" I said um....the 78.00 u are advertising?!!!!!! Ended up buying one pair at way over my budget for my son cuz it was necessary. Fast forward....i ask them to fax my prescription....WHICH I PAID FOR....to walmart because their contacts are cheaper....Girl faxes over prescrip w NO DOC SIGNATURE!!! And no info about curvature or base....isnt the doctors signature the VERY thing that MAKES it a prescription?!!!! So i call back, she says doc that saw me not in, i said dont u have a doctor on site, or cant u print the original one with the signature? She says no we dont do that and the doc here wont sigh the other guys prescription. But that i can DRIVE 45 mins to their facility to get a copy....EXCUSE ME?!!! U can let me go pick one up but u cant fax it?! What?!! Then she tells me...no joke....that She "cant fax it because You didnt buy from us?! " I said yessss but i PAID you for the prescription. She finalllly sent the signed prescription after about a week....and guess what?! It was missing all the info for the contacts!!! Shocker!!!! I call back againnnnnn and same girl says exact same thing. Sabrina i believe. I finally asked for a manager and he fixed it all in 5 minutes. Their enployees are poorly trained or just idiots, not sure which. I will NEVER go back there again. I will make sure eveyone i know, knows about the scam they are pulling. Disappointed when i cant even buy my kid a proper pair of glasses. Should've stuck w my regular eye doc. REVIEW - LESS THAN 1 STAR I have purchased 4 pairs of glasses in the past 3 years. The first 2 pairs had several problems including a lenses falling out (after about 4 weeks). They continued to fix all the problems for the next 2 years....driving 30 miles each time. I only wear my glasses at night / I wear contacts during the day. My prescription changed and 7 weeks ago (against my better judgment) I went in and didn't find much of a choice, but I found the same glasses only different color. I asked for "ULTRA THIN LENSES" because of my strong prescription (I received Polycarbonate not Ultra-Thin) 4 days after I received my glasses one of the nose pieces fell off and the ear pieces became loose. I had to take them back in. I have taken them in a total of 5 times in the past 7 weeks....my husband has also done some minor adjustments at home. Yesterday I called to see if I could get a refund on the glasses due to all the problems I have had since 2015 (I repaired my glasses from 2015 and donated them). First I was asked if I wore my glasses on my head! HOW INSULTING! I have worn glasses for over 40 years and I think I know that glasses are worn on my face and the "nose pieces" go on the nose! I am a Customer Service Manager in the constitution field and I can take abuse....it is part of the job. I always remember that they are the customer, treat them the way I expect to be treated and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have a job! After her comment I asked to talk to the manager Juan Ruiz. I asked him what the return/exchange policy is and was it printed on the receipt? Juan stated that the policy isn't on the receipt or in the store however it is 30 days. I asked him how am I to know your policy? If I would have known this I would have been back before 30 days! Juan stated he would repair the glasses again (even though it's past the 30 days) I said "why do I want your Sh*#^y glasses" and then I apologized right away for using a foul word. We went back and forth about how every other type of stores have the refund/exchange policy on the receipt and posted in the store and it's illegal not to do this. I asked him for the corporate office number and he hung up on me! Both of us never yelled, we never cursed (except for the one word which I apologized for) and I just couldn't understand why he would hang up on a customer. I drove to the store to get my receipt and sure enough nothing about refunds/exchange/repairs on the receipt or in the store. When I spoke with Juan I still kept my voice low because I was in his business and asked him why he hung up on me? He stated he didn't appreciate being cursed out! I was shocked....I told him that I had only said one word, it was about the phone, not directed at him and I apologized right after! I tried to tell him that businesses have it on the receipt and posted in the building....he asked me who? I said Walmart. Juan's response was "we're not Walmart". I then told him Target. That's when he refused to discuss this with me (because he knew I was correct) and escorted me out of the building. I have been in the Customer Service Industry for over 30 years and I would never treat a customer this way! My wise General Manager once said "Customers vote with their purchase orders". I have several other places to go and I have spend over $700 since 2015 so I will purchase new glasses, have these glasses fixed and donate them and tell everyone that I can about Stanton Optical, Juan Ruiz -Manager and look up California laws on refunds and sue them if necessary! I will definitely recommend this eye doctor to anyone who enjoys being disrespected, being throughly questioned on your decision to buy your kids contacts due to the type of sports their in, and also for anyone who doesn't have a schedule and would like to wait 1.5 hours for their appt. This negative star goes to the doctor and some of the staff. The doctor I saw was great, my husband saw a different one. The one my husband saw was the one who smells like cigarettes, doesn't know or chooses not to care, what's best for the patient. Who is probably paid by certain brands to push their products. He not only is horrible in contacts but also lacks how to correctly fix lenses for your specific sight. He tries to go as fast as possible instead of going at a steady strategic pace. This doctor pushes the Acuvue brand on his patients, instead of giving them the best brand that fits their type of condition. Now I won't mention names because while you're there they only say "The Doctor". I won't mention what race each doctor is because I'm not racist and it's not about that. I wish I knew this Doctor's name, and I would give it. I'll go back and see, then I'll come back and tell you. The other doctor is really informed on his products and is great. Martha the lady that helped us after the doctor was also great. So thank you Martha. I'll come back but only to see the first doctor I saw. If they don't fix my husbands issue or give us a refund then I'll continue to rate them 0-1 on every site on every webpage and every board I see and find. That is all. Edit - Thank You, for the reply. I had him see the other doctor and I just paid again. I didn't want to hassle with getting a free appointment. He saw the doctor I saw and the doctor was baffled. I hope you know that the reason people keep coming to Stanton is because of this doctor. They also say they price match, which is a lie because I bought the prescription, and the lady says how much was it online and I said the amount and she says, "Well is this okay? Even though it was double the amount. Money isn't the issue, having dignity is the issue. Don't say you price match when you don't price match. Don't have a doctor that gets paid by Acuvue to push their products when there are all different kinds of contacts for each patient and their eye prescription and fitting. I was really disappointed my experience was horrible my brother and I walked in to wait for my appointment a woman and her son was there very angry about how she was rescheduled because when she got there someone else had her appointment time I thought it was odd on how angry she was but now I understand. I was told over the phone that the eye exam would be free NOT that it would actually cost $39 and work toward your payment of two glasses I was not prepared to buy my glasses right then as I was only concerned about my exam. (If I left I wouldn't be able to use my $39 towards glasses as I would have to right then!) I went back a few weeks later to pick up my prescription and it was not in their system which in this case I basically paid for nothing. She then advised I come back to see if the optometrist had it handwritten in his records I return after an hour and he did not have the prescription. During that second trip back to their office I was able to hear two employees complaining about an unsatisfied customer. An associate offered another exam for "free" which is not the case because I paid for my first one I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me he wasn't in. I call the supervisor today and he says he has it and it was in the "old system" and that he can't give me a refund. I will never do business with them again and will continue going to my original optometrist. read more

Be very careful using Stanton Optical if you have insurance. They will tell you that your insurance is accepted and you're only responsible for your co-pay and tell you what kind of frames the plan will cover (after you've given them all the information they need to review your plan) and then end up with two bills totaling $565 that is not covered by insurance because they are out of network. It seems they tell you what you want to hear to get your business instead of being forthright with information to help you make the best decision. If I had known up front that they were out of network, which customer service has since told me they are aware of and "most people who have VSP do have plans that are out of network", I would have gone elsewhere rather than being stuck with a bill I cannot afford. They have given me in store credit as it is out of their hands but I will not return in the future. I appreciate the effort but it does me no good. If you plan to use them, please talk to your insurance first to make sure you are getting the correct information and do not just trust what the Stanton Optical associate tells you. read more

In a word...AWFUL! The Fresno location is a total scam! I was lied to and overcharged but didn't catch it until I was at home. When I called to complain they talked to me like I was an idiot and were extremely rude! I finally got it straightened out and got a refund on the difference. When I picked up glasses (2 weeks later) I had to wait in a long line while the girl literally dug through the bin where they put all the glasses waiting to be picked up. The 2 women in front of me and I started talking and found out we were all lied to and were all disgusted with the lack of customer service and organization of this company. I will NEVER go back there and I will make it a point to let everyone I know aware of how unprofessional and shady this company really is. And on top of all that, my $230 probably fake Armani frames didn't even come with a case, WTF is that about!? Even my cheapie frames at my old eye dr. came with a hard case. First was given the wrong prescription, then they bent my frame refitting it and had to return it, then the optician broke the replacement frame while fitting the lens and they delivered it to me anyway; multiple trips to the store to try to sort out issues. Final replacement frame came LATE after the hassle of having to be re-tested and returning two broken frames. The staff just do not care. DO NOT go here! read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. They say 2 weeks for glasses, took mine 6 weeks. Once I finally got them and walked to my car & realized the prescription was wrong. When I went back in the man working there had the adasity to tell me I just needed to get used to them. I told him I have worn glass for the last 50 years and I know the difference between a new prescription and the wrong prescription. He Kept telling me I was wrong!! I had to demand that they check my glasses & get the correct prescription. He actually told me that they would check them and they'd call me when they don't find anything wrong. A-hole!!! I got 2 pairs of glasses here for my son, because I had bought glasses there and joined their "club", so i had 2 free frames. I received NO help while picking out his first glasses, and when we picked them up no one spent the time to fit them properly to his face. Three months later they broke, not from anything my son did, just fell apart. We did get them replaced, but only because I knew someone working there at the time. I just moved to the Central Valley, and saw the ads for Visalia Stanton on the TV, so I made an appointment. I arrived early, filled out the paperwork. The exam didn't start until 45 minutes late. OK, the store was crowded due to advertised low prices. But my experience with the Optomitrist, Dr. Moore was appalling! From the start, he was surly, rude, contemptuous in fact. I had received a cell-phone call from our new landlord just as I was called in for the exam. I explained to the doctor what was going on and tried to call my husband to go meet withthe landlord. The doctor actually threw open the door, ordered "Get Out!" of his office, told me I would have to make another appointment! I see the "filtered" (censored?) reviews also mention this obnoxious and unprofessional doctor. This is the first and only incidence of horrible service we've experienced in the couple of weeks we've been up here, and we will certainly not be returning. read more

Well start off with 69$ for a free exam and glasses. No that deal doesn't exist well at least when we walk in. After the exam and glasses the final price was 400$. I was baffled I thought it was free exam and buy one get one free on the glasses. What happened was they add all the stuff to the lens like the anti glare, transition and the polarize coating. We didn't ask for either of the add on's. After we ended up paying quite a bit over what they advertised we received one pair of our glasses on time when we got home we realized that the left lens was about to fall out. I'm sorry but it was a bad experience I'm going back to lens crafter or the Visalia eye center. I would be paying a little more but at least I know the lens work and the quality it great. read more

I would not even give this business any stars, my wife and I purchased glasses over a year ago and the prescriptions were never right. Stanton Optical in my opinion is very arrogant and condescending to patients needs and questions. My wife was even given an extra pair of glasses, however if the prescription isnt right in the first place you wouldnt be able to see with 50 free pairs of Stanton Optical Glasses. The Visalia office had more than 5 opportunities to re-make the glasses, but to no avail. Incompentent staff. Lots of frames, but once again, if the people making the lenses are unaware of what the patient needs, they are doing more harm than good. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, because once you complain these people will work with you less and less and they are not afiliated with BBB. Although the selection of glasses was limited, I found the customer service to be excellent. I received my eye exam within 30 minutes and was fitted for my glasses and out the door in about an hour. Although they did not take my insurance (VSP -out of network) which I find alot do not, I got the proper paperwork and am able to submit to my insurance and receive almost 100% back. A complete hard sale on contacts I told them were not the right prescription. However, I was sucked into the hard sale, my appointment changed 3 times & when I asked for a refund on contacts I never took possession of, I was told "No we don't do refunds on contacts, but we will offer you a free recheck." You get what you pay for...Scheduling an appointment online was easy. When I arrived, the associate behind the counter was so busy texting she didn't even notice me standing right in front of her. I could have cleared my throat, but it was a challenge to see how long I could stand there before she even noticed me. It wasn't until she had finished whatever conversation she was having and put her phone in her pocket that she looked up. The optometrist was condescending and gave me least thorough eye exam I have ever received. Even when I had questions, he wouldn't answer them and just seemed to want to get me out of there. It went so fast that I am concerned if my prescription will even work. The frames selection was so-so, however when you start adding anything to the lenses that just ups the price to a level that makes it unreasonable. I took my prescription to Costco to be filled and they had to call and question the prescription, because it was lacking vital information. The one star is for the fact I could make a same day appointment. The rest of the experience was sorely lacking in both professionalism, and quality. read more

There are too many other reputable Eye wear stores to go to. This store unfortunately preys on customers on a limited budget with their false advertising of cheap glasses for an extremely limited stock. I fortunately have the luxury to shop around but decided to try the new place to get some lenses replaced on a fourth pair of glasses that I use for work around the house, nothing special. The lab work was sufficient but pretty much what I would expect anywhere else and the front staff were friendly. The problem was that they tell you the glasses will be ready by a certain date and then they do not meet their own deadlines and then don't take a couple minutes to call you and say they are behind schedule. In addition the owner (or manager I'm not sure) is about the most unprofessional and unfriendly person in that office. He needs a real attitude adjustment and unfortunately he can't see it. He was having a conversation with me about matching the competitors price and then after not coming to an agreement just walked away without a thanks for stopping by or anything. Too many other establishments to give my business to without having to put up with so so customer service that obviously is broken starting at the top. When I came into Stanton Optical, I didn't know what to expect. I expected a "Supercuts" of optometry and that is pretty much what I got. Not a horrible experience, but nothing to write home about either. There is a lot the staff doesn't tell you upfront - first, if you ask, you can get discounted lenses, but they will automatically sell you the more expensive ones unless you tell them that they are out of reach for you and you will come back after payday. Then, suddenly the prices come down. They will also tell you that you get 5% off if you check in on Facebook, which I did, but no 5% discount. The day I was there the store was very busy, HOWEVER, I do not think that is an excuse for less than exceptional service. I was rushed through my purchase of eyewear with no explanation as to what all of the add-on charges were actually for. Car salesmen explain more than the staff here did. This was my first pair of glasses; no one helped me choose frames or explained to me pros or cons of one pair versus another. I was trying on frames for over an hour and NO ONE came to even ask if I needed any help. Again, I understand busy, but busy is not an excuse for lack of attentive service. I was told that my glasses would be in within 7-10 business days, but that "they always come in quicker than that." Not so. Three and a half weeks later, I still have no glasses. I kept calling and asking about them, but all I've been told is that they should be in anytime. About the only thing Stanton Optical has going for it was the wide selection of frames and fact that the doctor did not see a walk in before he saw me fairly close to my appointment time. Other than that, he was far more concerned about who was texting him on his iPhone, which was conveniently charging right next to him, than he was with my vision. I was told by Kaylee at Stanton Optical Visalia, that my glasses were being "rushed" and they would be in, per their corporate office, last Friday, May 3. It's now Tuesday and my boyfriend took time out of his day to try to pick my glasses up for me this afternoon and was told that they have NO RECORD of my EVER BEING SEEN HERE. Turns out they have all of my information under an incorrect last name. I was further told by Melissa that "it's too bad because they're not late" my glasses aren't due in until the 16th of May, a full month after the original sales person told me they would arrive. Perhaps the staff of Stanton Optical do not realize that some people need glasses to actually work. They have a very blasé attitude about the arrival of glasses, the health and well-being of their customers does not matter to them at all. It is very unnerving to me that my PHI is stored under a different name, which I supposed does not matter to the staff here because they do not see you as a person, only as fees. After today, I cannot, with a clear conscience, recommend Stanton Optical to anyone. Bottom line, if you need glasses right away, this is not the best place for you. If you have a lot of questions and are looking for more personal attention and high quality service, this is not the place for you. If you just want to get a pair of glasses, do NOT need them right away to be able to see, and you aren't especially concerned with cost or service, then Stanton Optical just might work out well for you. read more

We decided to move my entire family to Stanton Optical because of their advertised specials. My wife and I and our son all had exams and we all, except for my wife purchased contacts and glasses. Our experience has been that the side of the business selling the contacts and glasses was wonderful. No complaints. But everyone of us have serious complaints about the examining doctor. He was rude and rushed us through without doing a thorough job. He ended up prescribing the wrong things first to me, and had to correct it and now to my wife. That was the last straw. She went to Lenscrafters the next day and got a completely different prescription after an exam. The pair of contacts Stanton gave her irritated her eyes and were obviously wrong. The doctor told her that her eyes would just have to get used to it. He is a quack. She left in tears he was so rude. We will never go back, which is unfortunate for the other people in the organization because they were all nice and competent. But when you have an incompetent examining doctor that is a deal breaker. read more

Horrible experience! We were baited by the buy 2 for $69 and get free eye exam. There was only five that qualified and they looked like they were straight out of the 70s. We were not greeted by anyone when we walked into the store. It wasn't until I walked towards a lady to ask her which glasses qualified that she asked if I had been helped. There were 4 people ahead of me for the eye exam which took approx. 10 mins and somehow it took them an hour and a half to see me. So I find some expensive glasses that I'm willing to buy at the buy one get one discount. Finally get seen by the "Dr." His first words to me is, "you can set your sombrero down there (indicating a chair)." I am a Hispanic female wearing a snapback. Mind you, I couldn't speak Spanish if my life depended on it. Then he asks if I work and I say no, and before I can elaborate he asked me if I'm lazy. For some reason my exam took 3 minutes and he says I have 20/20 vision and to get out of here. I have astigmatism that needs to be corrected. I've had this problem my entire life. I struggle reading menu items and have blurred vision and headaches. I know damn well I need glasses. I'm guessing his racist self assumed I was going to tack it onto some poor people insurance. thought I would try Stanton after reading reviews, some were bad but most were very good, anyway, I went in on march 28th and ordered 2 pair of glasses, one trifocal the other bifocal sunglass seems they make the lenses in house and they order the lenses called a block one at a time, it took 26 days to receive my trifocals as the keep breaking one or both lense and have to reorder the block or blocks then reorder and try again this I was not told until I got mad an blew up, not once did management call me and appolize or tell me what was taking so long, at the same time this was also the same with my sunglasses after going in on the 23 days to see if eather pair were done and no one calling me iwas told that they shoud have one ready soon as they have the blocks in and are grinding them now. I went in the next day as no one called but they had my trifocals ready I got that pair and was told the sunglasses would be ready shortly, after not hearing anything the next day I went in and was told that again they broke one of the lenses and had to order another block, I demanded to speak again to the manager and wanted my money back for my sunglasses, he would not he offered to make me a pair of single strength sunglasses, to tide me over till my bifocal sunglasses are made, he said that I could wait while they were made, or come back the next day I chose to come back the next day, when I got there, I found out that they were not finished yet and had to wait about a 1/2 hour for them to assemble them (put the lense in the frame), this in now the 32nd. day and I am still waiting for my sunglasses, still no one calling to let me know when or if I will ever receive my sunglasses,Stanton may be great at delivery on single strength glasses, but terrible on anything mor involved, worst is no one ever calls to keep you informed I have gone to sears for 30 years, but because of their adds I thought I would give them a try, big miistake read more

My experience at stanton started off ok, quick apointment, friendly service and nice selection of eye glasses. So I purchused the buy one get one free deal, chose regular eye glasses and sunglasses. I did my exam on the 23rd of July and was told that both pairs would most likely be in before the 9th and no later than the 13th of Aug. So I've called a few Times and was told one pair was in and I should call back the next day, did this a couple days, when finally was told they just spoke to the optical place and it was shipped out yesterday and would b here today. So I call today and suprise they are not in, so I'm a little irritated and was told they were going to call the optical place again, they call, call me back and say the glasses wont be shipped until tomorrow or monday, so they should b here by tues. That would b the 20th, almost a month from when I took my exam. Had I known all that I would have went to lense crafters or sears and paid a little extra. Not satisfied at all. If your ok with waiting a month for your glasses and not getting straight answers this is the place for you. read more

i was vey disappointed with my experience. i made an appointment for the "free eye exam." nothing but young girls working there (except the gentleman who did the exam - he was 71, and greta, in comparison.) the girls (all 20 something) were too busy talking on their phones or talking between themselves to pay any attention to a client. after my exam, i was sent back to the 2 gals at the desk~ the extent of our exchange was "that's $39 for the eye exam, how do you want to pay?" i asked if it wasn't taken off the purchase of the eyeglasses and could i please look at glasses? i was told no, you have to pay first. after paying i asked to see the glasses, and the same gal looked up long enough to say "the woman's are on that rack over there." i gave up, when no one offered to help, and walked out... and no one bothered to stop me. i learned what i needed from my eye exam, but would not go back there for anything. read more
