Bait & Switch: CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! I went to Stanton b/c they took my insurance. Everyone was pleasant and efficient, yet I was charged for my "free" eye exam. The Dr. wanted to put me in multi focal contact lenses, and the irony is they didn't even have them in stock for me to try. Instead I was given a different pair of prescription trial lenses, and not multi focal the Dr. wanted to prescribe me. They charged me $90 for a "free" eye exam, and for the "trial" multi focal lenses that I didn't even get to try. Word of advise: Ask questions about what insurance covers, and what it doesn't. Because once the paperwork is written-up (even before the ink dries) you are responsible. read more

I made an appointment last minute for a 5:15 PM appointment on a Saturday. I literally showed up at 5:21 PM with 2 young kids in tow and the man at the front seemed confused when I said I had an appointment. He checked in the back and told me the doctor was already packing up for the day and would not see me. They had a 5 minute leniency window. He then told me that there were earlier spots i could have picked instead?!! I obviously picked that one because I couldn't make it earlier. They just didn't want to stay. Btw, I work in healthcare and usually there is a 15 min window. Not 5 mins. If u don't want to see your last appointment of the day, then don't let the appointment be booked! read more

I have been a customer of Eye Lab in Fort Lauderdale for several years and now that I moved to Jupiter, I decided to go to their sister company Stanton Optical. This is my first time wearing contact lenses in over 30 years so I was a little apprehensive about getting them. The staff here made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Catherine Derewyanko as well as Marcia the manager and Mateya the sales person were extremely kind, very knowledgeable and very professional. They accommodated my work schedule and I was very impressed with everyone's positive attitude and superior customer service skills. I am a long time customer of the Jupiter location. Always had great service by a great team. Seems they're all gone. Went in for a scheduled eye exam. Had to step over the vacuum and tangled cord to get past the front door. Store was empty except for me. Employee (Tara, the manager) finally emerged from the back and I told her I had an appointment. She was abrupt, and running from the phone, front of the store when someone walked in and me in the back. She continued to address me as "Dear". She was also the tech that did the initial exam before I was ushered into a room to see the optician. She was rough with the exam, I had to ask her several times to lower the machine because if I put me chin on the edge as instructed, I needed to raise myself off the stool. I had to point out twice that my current glasses were bifocals because she was only reading the distance portion. Next was ushered into the exam room to meet the doctor, who was on a monitor in the corner of the room. Tara shoved the refractor equipment in front of me and quickly left the room. It was too high and I needed to stretch to view through it. When the doctor was ready to check my near vision he has to call Tara, (on the phone?) to switch the equipment. Again she just shoved the extended chart in front of me and ran out. All I could see was the part of the chart that screwed on to the arm. Doctor had to call Tara again to fix it. When the exam was over I was told to wait in the front part of the store while they issued my prescription. Tara had what I recognized as a company conference call on VERY loud speaker throughout the store. The speaker was talking about goals, last Friday's sales, how to do better, etc. As I was walking around, Tara came up to me to ask how she could help me! Seriously, you'd been "helping" me for the last 45 minutes. I told her that this was a shit show and I really shouldnt be hearing the company conference call when I came in for glasses. Her nasty response was that they were telling her how to fix the computer system. Not true. I finally just took my prescription, paid the $45 for the crappy eye exam and left. The vacuum was still at the front door. Guess all the bad reviews really are true. You've just lost a loyal customer, and I will not recommend you guys to anyone. I went in for the $69 for 2 pairs of glasses and an exam. This would have been my third such time I've taken advantage of this offer over the years. Apparently they are under new management or ownership as the current promotion is nothing like the one before. It has become a rip off - bate and switch scheme. There are two half empty rows of frames that qualify, and where as before single vision lenses were included, now there is at least another $69 fee. The other frames are way overpriced. You pay for the exam separately, and where getting fitted for contacts used to be included, now there is an extra fee. Finally, I spent over an hour browsing at frames without being approached or greeted by an employee at the Jensen Beach location. There are way better options out there. read more

I had a great experience at Stanton on Indiantown Rd. I misplaced my distance glasses and was going away in 3 days. They checked my vision, I picked out frames and had my new glasses in 24 hours. The doctor was great as was the staff. I would highly recommend them. read more

Threeeye exams, two different doctors, three attempts to get them right, over four months from first visit to final delivery of product which was less than originally ordered with no refund and the glasses are still unusable. By far the worse 735.00 ever spent and the worst customer service and follow up I've ever experienced. I have used this location before for an eye exam. I went back for a reading glasses exam. It was a bad experience and I will never use them again. Besides it taking a full 2 hours of my day due to their total confusion, slow computers, offsite doctors and no one paying attention, they totally messed up my prescription. I told three different people, one a concierge "point of contact" that I was there for reading glasses and not for progressive bifocals. The eye exam was all a distance vision test until I reminded the "doctor" online that I wanted reading glasses only. She then ordered the concierge guy back into the room (more waiting), and they did a 4-second near-vision test. I then had to wait roughly another half-hour, 45 minutes, have a second set of photos of my eyes done, because the first set wouldn't upload to the offsite doctor. It was only after I finally spoke up that the office manager (who hid in her office the entire time) finally poked her head out, and then my prescription magically appeared. After I left I realized that the prescription calls for progressive lenses, which is exactly what I don't want. I will not go back for another wait, or risk them screwing up my prescription a second time. Hugely disappointed in what is supposed to be an easy experience. read more

After placing an order for eyeglasses, I received over twenty-five calls from one of their central call centers to my cell phone. Stanton Optical had all of the necessary personal information needed from the forms I had filled out in-store. I spoke to the office and informed them that if the phone calls did not stop I would cancel my order. I received another call this morning and cancel the order I did. I bought two pairs of glasses here last year. The first pair the lenses fell out of the frames in less than 5 months. I popped it back in and never wear them for fear of losing a lens. Second I tried to call to see if they could tell me the PD measurement they used on my glasses with the first two pairs I ordered and was told they couldn't give me that information because they don't keep the measurements in my file. However if I came back for $20 they would remeasure for me. Thanks but no thanks the first $500 I spent wasn't enough. I won't be using Stanton optical in the future. read more

I am surprised by the reviews on here. I have gone for three years to the Jupiter location and haven't had any problems. I get my yearly eye exam there and also my contacts. My contacts are a bit specific so it does take a week to get them, but they are typically in within 3-4 days. Like the other reviews state, the staff has always been very friendly. read more

I work for a dental corporation that's structure is actually an identical layout of Stanton. They offer free exam and have phenomenal deals on frames. We too offer free exams for patients. I've been having a continuous issue with my eyesight and it's been effecting my work, so I made an appointment for an exam. When entering, I found someone at a desk and informed them I had an appointment. He (Chris) let me know I needed to pick some frames and we'll discuss pricing, once we agree I can move forward with my exam. I thought I heard him wrong, and decided to just find some frames while I waited. I found two frames since he said there was a BOGO on frames. After sitting back at his desk and telling him I liked these frames, he goes on and quotes me $460 and change for the frames and "LENSES (which is had not even been recommended or treatment planned for)." I let him know I was more than happy to get some glasses but with COVID I cannot afford to make a purchase on the spot but I'd be happy to come back after discussing the financials with my fiance and make my purchase. He then leans back and states I cannot get my exam until we agree on a price. I CLARIFIED asking "So you are telling me I cannot get an exam done to check my eyes by a professional until I pay for lenses I don't even know that I'll need yet?" He answers something about due to COVID and them being an essential business, that's how things are working now. This is absolutely wrong. I understand - my profession offers FREE care and we know many people will just get the check up and not move forward with care/financials. BUT that doesn't mean you don't help those people. I called corporate immediately afterward and tried confirming if this was how their business model was currently working. The wonderful call rep stated this was ENTIRELY backwards. I was supposed to have gotten my exam FIRST and whatever the EYE PROFESSIONAL treatment planned for me, I would then be quoted for it. I am appalled by this kind of treatment and hope nobody else gets gimmick-ed into their foolery. I'm sure their doctors there are good, one of them was a patient of my office, but their management is horrendous if this is how they do business. This place is terrible! Worst experience I have ever had. The staff did not know what they were doing and only cared about selling glasses. They actually got an attitude when I decided not to buy glasses from them. The selection is horrible and out dated. The "optometrist" was wearing a sweatshirt and wrinkled sweatpants... I wasn't even sure she was the optometrist. She didn't identify herself and the optical technician was dressed more professional ! They insisted on dilating my eyes and I finally agreed but then they never even did it! This place is terrible and they are always short staffed! Dont waste your time. read more

Eye exam great and very professional. Sales tactics are sophmoric at best. They advertise two pair of glasses for $69 with exam. The exam is $45 that they charge your for. The glasses in my case $560.00. What they do is mark this stuff up 1,000% then give you a discount. Even with the sad discount $560.00 is NOT $69.00. When I called the young man out (Michael) he was curt and disrespectful. Long story short I WILL NEVER step foot in a Stanton Optical again. Buyer beware! If it sounds too good to be true watch out! They advertise 2 for $69.00 But I bet you can't find two decent frames for that price ! The staff are not that knowledgeable and always need to check with the manager Marcia for an answer. Marcia can be quite rude-maybe she's overworked and takes her rudeness out on the customers. They try to up charge you every chance they can and never give out an itemized receipt. Don't bother with Stanton optical. If you have a complaint there isn't anyone to call. This place snells like urine and is filthy! I also noticed they don't clean their equipment after seeing customers! Disgusting! I had to wait over an hour because there was no doctor! I came back the next day to be seen by a 90 year old doctor who asked me to read his text message because he couldn't see! He also put his ear right to your mouth so he could hear you. Friendly staff, but completely incompetent. My exam was in mid July and its now mid September and I still don't have contacts. I went in for my exam for contacts and glasses, a week later I go in to pick them both up. They have my glasses, but no contacts. They said someone forgot to order them, but would order them right away. I go back a week later to pick them up. They ordered the wrong brand and the prescription was off by .50. So they are apologetic and said they would order the right brand right away. A week goes by and I called to check on my order, they were never ordered. They forgot yet again. So this time they said they would throw in a free box and they would ship them to my house. I get them in a week and they don't fit my eyes at all, every time I blink they felt like they were going to fall out. I go back to the store and explain the problem, they were apologetic again and said they would give me another box for free. Another week goes by and I get my contacts. Guess what, they still don't fit. I wrote an email to the manger and explained that I've been wearing contacts for 13 years and have never had a problem like this. I said obviously you guys are having trouble fitting my eyes correctly, and I asked for a refund. They refunded me for the contacts and asked if I could have a refund for my contact exam, they wouldn't give me one. I said after all this, you can't give me contacts that fit properly and won't refund my exam? They still refused. So now I don't have any contacts and have to go spend more money on another exam elsewhere. I'm baffled at the situation and don't understand why they couldn't fit my eyes properly. Called this afternoon and made an appointment for same day. Arrived and was greeted in a welcoming manner. Was taken back immediately to my eye exam. The assistant was very pleasant and the doctor was very personable, knowledgeable and thorough with my exam. He Offered different options to correct my vision. Chose my frames and they had them ready in less than a 1/2 hour. Great experience at the Jupiter location. All employees I encountered were very pleasant. read more

Well, I'm hesitantly updating my rating of this store. After contacting Customer Service the first time I wasn't very satisfied with the answer I got, so I posted my first review. With that they contacted me and have offered to correct the situation - free of charge. After a couple of days I had yet to get to the store and they actually followed up with me to ask if I would be accepting their offer. I will be getting to the store hopefully in the next couple of days and update this again when I see how that goes. I went to Stanton in Jupiter on August 23rd for lenses in my glasses. I had gotten lenses in my sunglasses a few weeks prior, they put the progressive too high and had to redo them. I didn't want to go back to them but I couldn't find my script so I went back. The woman who took my order never asked me for a prescription so I assumed she would look it up in the computer. She said do you want them like the others and I said yes. She asked me if I want blue blocker for the computer, I said no. When I got my glasses back they were readers, $130 readers. She told me that I said I just wanted readers, she confused the no on blue blocker for a no on progressives? She put the blame on me. Today is September 11th and I got a call that my order will be delayed. I read the reviews of their incompetence but still gave them the benefit of the doubt. Please read the reviews from former employees and customers before using this company. A very poorly run company with poorly trained employees. read more

I had an exam an ordered glasses and contacts on February 2, 2013. Today is March 22, 2013. I still don't have my contacts and I still have no explanation except for the manager in the Jupiter, FL store (Marsha) telling me over and over "I don't understand what's happening". That is absolutely unacceptable. Every few days I call her (because NOT ONCE has she initiated a call to me) and I get the same or similar answers. I have been told "the office says they were shipped but we don't have them" "I am having them overnighted" That was at least 3 weeks ago. "I re-ordered them" "the new ones are being overnighted" "I don't know what's happening", etc. etc. The absurdity is that no one has any idea what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

OMG! Let me start by saying this was my first time getting an eye exam and I set up an appointment online last night for 9:30 this morning. The nurse who first greeted me couldn't see me without her glasses. Good start. Then she starts the preliminary exam before they dilate my pupils. She finishes. They ask me to have a seat. A half hour later I told them that I was gonna look around at the glasses while I wait. I was the first person in there. I came here because it's a free eye exam when you get two pairs of glasses of 69 dollars. Their 69 dollar selection were in between ten very poor frames to choose from. So an hour after my appointment, I asked the lady in the front what the delay was......and her response was she couldn't get a hold of any of the optometrists that were supposed to be there. We're they out drinking last night? What type of business is being ran where, not only aren't the bosses there, but the staff just lets people stand there without an explanation. I wonder how much longer they would've had me sit there before anyone approached me about the situation. They suggested I continue my errands and when the optomitrist comes in they will call me to come back, sorry guys!!! Don't do it. I got a call my glasses are ready. When I go I Got my glasses back and saw double. One pair was not ready I would have to go back for them... The pair I was seeing double was because the lens wasn't put in the frame right. Mike was not very nice about it. He works too fast, doesn't listen and knows it all. When he had the tech redo it I still saw double, but not as bad, then told me it's my Drs fault, (I used their Dr.). his attitude and personality and I conflicted...I got my frames back. Rude nasty and unprofessional. My frames that I gave them to put the lenes in were stretched out so bad that when the tech tried to fix them she made them worse. My mistake for taking Valentinos and 600.00 frames there. They are not responsible and they don't care. With my frames it cost 124.00. That's not 69. For two. I visited Stanton's Jensen Beach location on 1/23/2015. Shekeila was my very capable sales rep. The eye exam (by Chad Mahaffey) was middle of the road not exceptional not terrible, after which I started looking at frames. I found a pair of rimless frames and a pair for sunglasses. I was told that 2 of the pair (definitely made to be sunglasses) were to curved and that they couldn't do no-line bifocal in them (had a pair similar last time from JC Penny's) so I opted for my 3rd choice that they said could be done. I was told that my glasses should be ready in about a week. After 10 days I called the store and was told that they had just came in. Well 5/22/2015 I had finally gotten to a point where my lenses were so scratched I went in for replacement lenses (I purchased the insurance) and was again helped by Shekeila. For an optimal cost I would get the lenses replaced. I called again on 5/27 and was told that my glasses had been sent out for "hard coating" so waited until 6/2 and called again. I was put on hold and when the person came back she said someone would call me back. Twenty minutes later someone did call back and stated they didn't know where my glasses were and "that they had to be in shop somewhere". So today(6/4) I called again and was told to hold on and placed on hold. Several minutes later the lady comes back and says "what number can you be reached at", I gave here my cell because I didn't want to miss the call. I waited for 45 minutes and didn't receive a call back so I called once again. The lady was rude saying we have all your information and as soon as we have your glasses we will call you. I tried to tell her that I need my glasses I am currently wearing 5 year old scratched glasses and they are giving me headaches but she would hear not of that, and hung up on me. Stanton Optical I want my glasses... but we will be parting ways when I need my next exam and glasses. I don't tolerate games to well read more

I had a really positive experience at the Indiantown Rd. Stanton in Jupiter, and I love my new glasses. Everyone who works there is kind and knowledgable, and takes time to make customers feel appreciated. I happened to schedule my appointment for an especially busy day, so there were a couple snags, but the way a business handles those snags makes all the difference, so they still get 5 stars in my book. The first was that my eye exam accidentally got double-booked. As soon as they realized it, they gave me a call, were super apologetic, and were able to take me earlier than what I'd scheduled, which worked just fine. Since they were busy, it was also a bit of a wait once I was there, maybe 20-30 minutes, but once again they were kind and apologetic and made me feel like a hero for my patience. I get frustrated when the wait is a "what is going on? What can they possibly be doing?" kind of wait, but at Stanton the wait happened because they were showing genuine care for another patient and trying to help her sort out her insurance. Fine by me (next time I'll just bring a good book). Once I met with the doctor, she was personable and professional and made an adjustment to my prescription that has helped reduce eye strain. When I went to select my glasses and pay, they gave me an extra discount. My clear glasses were ready the next day, and my sunglasses were ready within two weeks (actually a day earlier than they predicted). I asked them to adjust my frames and they could immediately see why they were pinching me a little and fixed it perfectly. All in all, I found the entire staff personable and competent, and I highly recommend this location. read more

I went into Stanton at 11:15 Monday morning and approached the unattended counter. A man with a beard wearing a white jacket said to me "Wait over there" pointing to a line of two men at the dispensing window. No one greeted me or asked why I was there. A male and a female employee were working in the dispensary. The man with the white jacket and beard would take a tray into the dispensary and the man in the dispensary would work on it. Occasionally another female employee would come out of the back of the store, look around, and go back. After i5 minutes the line at the dispensing window was one person shorter. I left the store. Life is too short and there are too many good optical stores for one to accept being treated poorly by Stanton Optical. read more

My wife ordered two pair of bifocals - one regular and one shades for a total cost of $322. After a month the shades finally came in and they were not bifocals. We talked to the general manager of the Jupiter, Florida store who was very rude and combative. We cancelled our order and they did return our money, but the experience was far from pleasant. Completely and Totally Incompetent staff and Dr's. After waiting two weeks for my two sets of glasses I went in and they could not find them - oh wait the girl looking for them had them in her hand. Then when I tried on the first pair the right eye lens was fuzzy and then the other pair only showed the progressive lens in the last 1/4 inch of the lens meaning you tilt your head back to see anything. I asked them to check the glasses and against the RX and they said they were right without even checking and that I just didn't know how to expect new glasses to be. They told me if I wear them for two weeks my eyes would adjust and then it would be fine - what I should be blind for two weeks? Then they told me it was my issue as I tried to see thing close up and that everyone knows you have to read everything from an arms length away - again what? Then I was told that in the two weeks maybe my eyes got worse and I could get another eye exam (at a cost) to confirm. I asked to return them for a refund and they refused the lens but would give me a credit of the frames - again what? I ended up walking out of the store due to the constant run around. I have sent complaint notes to the corporate line and no response, so off to the BBB to see if I can get anywhere there and then off to the attorney and small claims court. Please beware of this store; I am out over $600 right now and still need new glasses. read more

When I choose not to purchase the glasses (couldn't find any frames that looked and felt well made) was told that I owed $45.00 for the eye exam as the Groupon deal no longer applied. I have waited over 2 years to have an exam because I didnt have the money. I saw commercials for Stanton and thought I would give it a try. I had an appointment for Saturday, April 30 and my appointment with the doctor and all of the back house staff went well. Optometrist was knowledgeable and personable as were the techs. The problem happened when I went out front and was basically humiliated because I could not buy an exam, glasses and contacts on the same day. I told the sales person I would not buy contacts until I knew how I felt about them as it had been 2 years since I wore them, and she suggested I buy them and if they change the prescription they will switch them out. I told her I didnt want to do that. She tried to convince me to get glasses. We looked at the 3 pairs that were even close to something I could afford, and she pushed me into choosing one. When we got back to the counter, I realized A) they were ugly (she responded "they are only back up glasses") and B) I really didnt have the money for them. When I told her I didnt want them and that I didnt have the money, her coworker got up and suggested I put money down as they took 2 weeks to come in. I told him no and that I didnt like them anyway. She visibly pouted. Her whole demeanor changed and I barely got a goodbye. I will not return to buy contacts or glasses. I felt like a piece of garbage for messing up her sale. read more
