It flabbergast me that the treating Doctor Who is certified as an ophthalmologist, keeps referring out for other opinions. Since he is the doctor that did my surgery, you would think he would make every effort to correct the problem. The quality of care is poor.

The oddest eye exam by Mittelman EYE in WB. I went to Mittelman Eye with my husband last week. We…read moreboth needed glasses. My exam took 3 hours. My husband's longer than that. There was just one doctor seeing patients. Both my husband and were told we would NOT get glasses prescriptions after the THREE HOURS spent there, mostly waiting. The reason for this very odd inability to get a prescription after the exam was explained to both of us by different employees. The reason was that they would bill our Medicare and secondary insurance for the exams. In the next few days, or next day, we would RETURN to Mittelman Eye and have a 5 minute "exam" where Mittelman would use our separate VISION CARE INSURANCE and we would then receive a prescription for eye glasses. I questioned this, the repeated procedure, the useless second exam. The billing of THREE different insurance companies to get a very simple reading prescription for one eye. A clerk tried to brain wash me comparing my eye doctor visit to a Primary Care visit. I retorted by saying "I go to the Primary Care doctor and there is no need to return the next day and BILL another insurance company for the SAME EXAM". Conclude what you will. Needless to say l immediately decided not to go back. Today I received a letter in the mail from Mittelman Eye stating they will no longer accept me as a patient because we have "Different philosophies". We certainly do. It is no wonder our insurance premiums keep climbing due in part to this kind of practice. No stars, but I must rate it 1!

The competent personable technician tested my eyes using three different machines. The icare glacoma screening was less invasive and more comfortable. Helayna Brown, M.D., is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical management of cataracts, glaucoma, anterior segment & corneal conditions as well as refractive surgery. Dr. Brown is renowned for her patience, ability to communicate and her caring demeanor.

While different in her own way, she exhibits every bit of the care, professionalism and personal attentiveness that I valued so much in Dr. Cano. Additionally, my girlfriend visited Dr Manning with an emergency issue and was immediately diagnosed and sent to a "same day" appointment with a retina specialist who saved her vision. The staff welcomed me warmly, as they knew me from when I was bringing a disabled friend for her twice monthly visits. I will simply say this, everything went as well as one could have hoped. My vision is amazing, my eyes feel amazing, the level of care- Amazing. Both pre and post surgery. I ended up with 20/10 vision and I swear colors are more vibrant. I feel like telling the world. At 33, I didn't know what to expect as a result. Maybe 20/20 at best but I never imagined it to be this good! Keep in mind that the first week after surgery is the worst of it, and for me that was only a few days of slight to moderate discomfort. Nothing extreme. Only on my 2nd night through 4th nights did I have some times where I would wake up and need some more Keterolac and eye drops.
