In August 2022, I underwent a routine cataract surgery performed by this arrogant doctor, but it ended in the loss of vision in my right eye. Shockingly, the doctor not only refused to compensate me or apologize but also declined to refund the surgery costs covered by my insurance or Medicare. The only refund offered was for the damaged lens that couldn't be inserted due to the eye damage he caused. When I went to his office, to ask for compensation, he called the police to escort me out. This incident is far from isolated. Public records reveal previous lawsuits for medical malpractice 2006. I know two other individuals in Jupiter whose eyes were damaged by him, both cases were settled out of court. He admitted that such blunders happen only once per year, indicating a shocking lack of accountability, as well as telling me, What did I expect? Your cataracts were so large , as if the damage was my fault. He has a bad reputation with long time Jupiter residents as well as other medical professionals. The doctor is supposed to explain what lens to choose for my particular cataracts. but he was not present. He turned over this important consult to his untrained office worker who advised me to chose the wrong lens for my eye, which I discovered later from a different doctor. I could write a book about this doctor and how unethical he is. Stay away.

I am updating my review because today's experience was the final straw…read more My son has been a patient of Dr. Simons for years. One ongoing issue with this office has always been the excessive wait times. It is not unusual to spend three hours or more in the waiting room before being seen. Despite that inconvenience, we continued coming because we trusted the doctor. Over the past six months, my 21-year-old son has been seeing Dr. Simons for an eye injury that causes one of his eyes to cross or drift when he is under stress. He followed all of the doctor's recommendations, including purchasing a prism for his glasses and attending multiple follow-up appointments. Today's appointment was supposed to be the next major step: scheduling corrective surgery. After waiting more than three hours, he was finally taken to an exam room, only to be told that the surgery center does not accept his Florida Blue insurance. This raises a serious question: Why was his insurance eligibility for the surgery center not verified from the beginning? My son has been seen five or more times for this injury, paying hundreds of dollars in co-pays and related expenses, only to find out now that the facility where the surgery would be performed does not accept his insurance. We feel that this information should have been disclosed much earlier in the process. Instead, months of appointments, costs, and time were invested before this issue was brought to our attention. If you are considering this practice, I strongly encourage you to verify insurance coverage for all services and facilities upfront. The lack of transparency and the constant, excessive wait times have made this an extremely frustrating experience for our family. Also, be aware that the practice has recently changed its name. Do your research carefully before scheduling an appointment. Note: I removed the statement "This is insurance fraud" because that is a legal accusation that can be difficult to substantiate publicly. Replacing it with factual descriptions of what happened makes the review more credible and harder to dismiss.

An assistant came in and took my glasses to do what the Doctor asked. I always clean them after someone touches them and right away cleaned the lenses. The right lense was severely scratched and I notified the staff and Doctor immediately. He said he had no control since his business was owned by a corporate office, Ascend Vision Partners. Two staff members said I scratched the lenses. I was called a week later after looking into filing a complaint and made to believe Lenscrafter would replace them at no charge. I obtained the specifications and delivered to the office. Many excuses later from the optical department I have not resolved the issue. The latest was I had to go 2 to 3 weeks without my glasses since they needed my frames. The damage to my lenses occurred while they were in the possession of staff at Dr. Brad Simons' office. I have fully cooperated at every step, yet the optical office continues to impose additional requirements and delays that have no justification. This continued excuses to fix my lenses is unacceptable.
