The oddest eye exam by Mittelman EYE in WB. I went to Mittelman Eye with my husband last week. We…read moreboth needed glasses. My exam took 3 hours. My husband's longer than that. There was just one doctor seeing patients. Both my husband and were told we would NOT get glasses prescriptions after the THREE HOURS spent there, mostly waiting. The reason for this very odd inability to get a prescription after the exam was explained to both of us by different employees. The reason was that they would bill our Medicare and secondary insurance for the exams. In the next few days, or next day, we would RETURN to Mittelman Eye and have a 5 minute "exam" where Mittelman would use our separate VISION CARE INSURANCE and we would then receive a prescription for eye glasses. I questioned this, the repeated procedure, the useless second exam. The billing of THREE different insurance companies to get a very simple reading prescription for one eye. A clerk tried to brain wash me comparing my eye doctor visit to a Primary Care visit. I retorted by saying "I go to the Primary Care doctor and there is no need to return the next day and BILL another insurance company for the SAME EXAM". Conclude what you will. Needless to say l immediately decided not to go back. Today I received a letter in the mail from Mittelman Eye stating they will no longer accept me as a patient because we have "Different philosophies". We certainly do. It is no wonder our insurance premiums keep climbing due in part to this kind of practice. No stars, but I must rate it 1!

In August 2022, I underwent a routine cataract surgery performed by this arrogant doctor, but it ended in the loss of vision in my right eye. Shockingly, the doctor not only refused to compensate me or apologize but also declined to refund the surgery costs covered by my insurance or Medicare. The only refund offered was for the damaged lens that couldn't be inserted due to the eye damage he caused. When I went to his office, to ask for compensation, he called the police to escort me out. This incident is far from isolated. Public records reveal previous lawsuits for medical malpractice 2006. I know two other individuals in Jupiter whose eyes were damaged by him, both cases were settled out of court. He admitted that such blunders happen only once per year, indicating a shocking lack of accountability, as well as telling me, What did I expect? Your cataracts were so large , as if the damage was my fault. He has a bad reputation with long time Jupiter residents as well as other medical professionals. The doctor is supposed to explain what lens to choose for my particular cataracts. but he was not present. He turned over this important consult to his untrained office worker who advised me to chose the wrong lens for my eye, which I discovered later from a different doctor. I could write a book about this doctor and how unethical he is. Stay away.

I made an appointment and was told that it takes a couple hours for the exam. I never had to wait when I went to my regular eye doctor, but I was having problems and thought it might be something messed up. I got there early in the morning and waited several hours before finally seeing amyone. They would rotate me around to different people to do different things and then I had to wait about a half an hour between each person. Another person in the waiting room told me that he was a really good doctor and specializes in a specific problem, and he is only in Jupiter on specific days. As a result, there is always a long line since no one else specializes in his field in the area. However they also do stuff with kids and had a waiting room that was filled with a bunch of crying children. Especially when they did the eye exams on them, the kids were screaming. Luckily they had an adult waiting room for older people. If I had to write him as a doctor I would give him a five. But I gave him a three because the office staff procedure and waiting time is ridiculous and would rate a zero. Luckily nothing was wrong with my eyes, so I'll just go back to my regular doctor for glasses and be done in half an hour and not have to waste four or five hours.
