Would do 0 if I could. Never leave reviews but I had to here. I'll open this with I wasn't the one who made the appointment, so I wasn't sure what was in the system or not. I was honest, and the front desk staff was angry and rude right off the bat. Scheduled an eye exam two days out during their free exam period, was told it would be honored. When I arrived that was not only ignored I was mocked for the insurance I had, then immediately pressured into a savings plan for frames that they didn't know I needed yet, and I didn't even plan on buying here! I said I just wanted the exam! After I fill out the first time questions I go to the first exam room. All I'm told is to put my head into the machine. No attempt is made to adjust it to my head, which I admit, is large. So it made all the tests harder. Again, no attempt to accommodate. The doctor was professional, but very quiet and had a strong accent so at times he was hard to understand. But he was nice I think. After all of it I just couldn't stay anymore and left. Got a call an hour or so later saying I didn't buy my frames. I. DIDNT. WANT. FRAMES. I left without even getting my prescription I was that furious. I'll just go to an eye doctor. What a joke. I am a return customer and was very pleased with their services and office staff. The doctor and medial exam was excellent. The staff was super helpful in choosing the right pair of glasses for me. With all the positives it's hard to say something negative. However, as I said I'm a return customer, they need to post or explain that the policies have changed. Doctor visits used to be free and now are $25. Also they no longer offer paying half, or a significant amount down, and the balance when the glasses are picked up. I didn't know I had to pay in full until everything was complete and time to pay. A heads up would have been helpful. I will be going back without a doubt for the Customer Service and Quality Products!! read more

I've been to Stanton a few times for glasses, I tend to stick with a place if they do good work. The eye doctors are professional other staff are not. I wanted my bi-focals at a certain level and they told me they couldn't do it, despite them doing what I wanted the last time. They said they can't and swung the monitor around and showed me that when they put the script in the bi-focal part fills in automatically. I said click on the box, and pointed to it, The drop down box had many choices for bi-focal placement. If someone says "the lab decides where they go, find another place. It's custom work after all and many labs are lazy because they have to change the dial on their machine, then I suspect they forget to set it back to standard messing up the next pair so they just don't do it. Then they kicked me out of the store! So I left but will never go back. I showed them how to work their own computer program, which i'd never seen before. They were not grateful. read more

I scheduled an appointment online and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had several available appointments for the next day and rest of the week. All 3 of my kiddos needed to be seen so due to our schedules I made an appointment for today and 2 for tomorrow. I have searched for a place that could see them sooner rather than later and one that also offers the convenience of online schedule. When we arrived it was busy, the woman who was helping another customer asked if I had an appointment which I responded "yes". A gentleman approached shortly after with a lab coat that the arms were too long and his undershirt appeared to be dirty and very worn. He asked how he could help and I said we have an appointment. He turned to the woman and said "are we still....?" She responded "you'll have to look at the notes" He proceeded to take our temperatures and took us to a computer. He said that they had placed a call to me earlier in the day to try and reschedule but was sent to voicemail both times. Unfortunately they didn't leave a message and the call came in from MARYLAND. I don't know about you guys but I get spam calls all the time and if you don't leave a message how am I supposed to know your an eye doctor from Fort Wayne calling to reschedule an appointment???? Either way I think it's unprofessional and given the atmosphere and the gentleman's attire, I canceled the other appointments and will find another eye doctor. Second update: Well... the new manager tried: 3 weeks ago, I got a call from a random number asking if I was the guy who left a yelp review. I hesitantly said I was. She explained that she was the new manager of the store and had been looking at every record of appointments with someone matching my reviews. She was very apologetic, and stated that my experience is not what they strive for. She sounded sincere, and stated that they have changed staffing because of experiences like mine. She offered me a full credit for services and products from my experience. She said that she was putting a credit for $174 on my account, that I could use for buying glasses or lenses in the future. This past Monday, I went in with my script from the other Dr. I sat down, gave them my script, and they looked up my profile, showing the $174 credit. She asked me how many boxes I wanted. I said "well it depends on how much they cost". Now I have priced these out prior. I have switched to daily wear for ease of maintenance from my first visit Coopervision clariti 1 day toric 90 pack From my Dr; $81 From Costco $74 From contacts cart, $51.60 1-800 contacts $69.59 From Stanton. $121.00. That is 50% more expensive than the closest competitor, and over 100% more expensive than the cheapest. I said "thank you but your prices are far too high" to which I was told that the lens prices are set by (either corporate or their supplier I do not remember which they said.... Now while I did see an optometrist there (or a guy in a white lab coat who looks like an optometrist), and it looks like the manager is trying to make things better, there just is no more reason for me to go there again. This place sucks... associates as re rude. Got the two pair glasses for 59.99 and somehow the tech ordered two of the same frames even though she had them in hand. They were the backups I chose and not even the nicer frame lol. But no apology or we'll make this right just snide remark about how it wasn't intentional. I never said it was. I wasn't happy and the " manager" comes out and tells me not to have an attitude.. I wasn't cursing but she said I don't want your business" and told me to leave. So.. didn't get the other pair and I don't think insurance will let me get another somewhere else. I've seen them be rude with others but I liked the deals. There are better places though. Stanton Optical in Fort Wayne, IN takes advantage of senior citizens. Gave my elderly mother two pairs of glasses she couldn't see out of. When she told them in the store the prescription was wrong, they blew her off. They disappeared for 40 minutes just to show back up with glasses she didn't order. Like others they made her feel stupid and told her she wasn't used to these glasses yet and that she needed to wear them for a few days. What part of "I can't see out of either of these" did they not understand? Lazy liars is not a good quality for a company. Admit you messed up the prescription and fix it immediately. read more

Do not do there if you value your health. We were there on Saturday for a 10:30 appointment. They required a face mask which is fine with me. The check in desk is right at the door so maybe one person or a couple can get in. Everyone else has to wait outside in a line until you can get in safely. They do no care if you have an exam appointment like we did. The biggest problem is it was very hot outside and we waited a long time so when I went in my temp was 106 but immediately dropped once I was in air conditioning. By then we were so frustrated we left. The girl at the check in desk was VERY rude a just shoved a temp gun in between my eyes. Didn't care we had an appointment or anything. On Monday I called the customer service line and was told by an alleged supervisor named Alissa tat they were doing the best they could. I told her people couldn't even wait in their cars in the cold air because other people would wait in line in the heat. She didn't care and said they were welcome to wait in their cars and I asked how they would get in if it is too hot to stand outside. She didn't care and told me I was always welcome to leave. I have spent a lot of money here over the years and will pay a lot more to go somewhere safe. read more

This is a decent place to get some glasses. It may not be the cheapest place but they do have good deals. I had a pair of glasses from here last me 7 years and they would have lasted longer if my dog didn't get to them so I came back and got another pair. The workers were friendly and I really didn't spend a large amount of time in here. They have good selection and good service. Not a bad bang for the buck. I think it took two weeks to get the new glasses. I have had no problems and will most likely be back. read more

I really wanted to have a positive experience here because I have seen the stellar reviews, but there were so many negative issues with Stanton that have completely turned me off to them. When I went in for my first eye exam, I could not get a clear answer as to what the cost would be for the glasses and contacts exam. They literally kept blowing me off and saying Well, we'll just see what you need when we get there, or Oh! Just buy two glasses and then get so and so discount... I had to put my foot down and almost become short with two separate assistants to let them know that I wanted a clear breakdown of costs depending on what options I chose; still, I didn't get a straight answer. By the time I was finished, of course I ended up being charged more than what I originally thought they told me. While I do not mind a casual environment, on not one, but two separate visits, a woman was wearing a dress so short, that I actually saw her bare backside and underwear when she bent over to get glasses off the bottom rows. Many of the staff talk about their personal issues (like dating and going out) with each other WHILE there are customers waiting for assistance. Like, I'm staring at someone waiting for her to come back and help me while she's talking about personal stuff with another staff member. When it was time to pick up my glasses, the prescription was wrong. I told them it was wrong right there and didn't think I could wear them, and they told me I should just spend a few days getting used to it, that it was normal for it to feel off (even though I've been wearing glasses for almost 10 years). Of course, there was nothing to get used to. I went back a week later and they measured the prescription and said Oh, you're right, it is wrong. I wish they had listened to me and done that the first time. To tie the whole story up, I was just speaking with Erica the manager this morning and she was extremely rude on the phone when I didn't understand she couldn't just read me my prescription that was on my box of glasses. She also said she'd send an email to me right away with my prescription, and I had to call back an hour and half later to have someone else remind her and send it. The facility is clean, and some of the staff seem capable and knowledgeable (the doctor and one of the women who helped me use my contacts), but they're not any cheaper or more qualified than any other eye exam place I've gone too. read more

So you are right to assume that the branding of the store and the hype makes this place not your local eye-care retailer. But after you get through the sign spinning chaos of Coliseum Blvd. and Coldwater Blvd. intersection, you will be pleasantly surprised to find this place is work the strong at heart. Fort Wayne doesn't trust companies not "from around here", but the inventory and service here are stellar. I came here after comparison shopping great and solid frames at 6 other eye-care retailers. I found very affordable frames for less that $15 a very trendy frames for $80. I bought two! The out of towners are coming to bring you quality service and product... TL;DR: Be aware of the fine print, and your insurance policy! I'm sure this place often results in people getting a decent eye exam and good deal on glasses, but they were a little shady, so I cancelled my appt within 15 minutes of making it. I called the # given here on Yelp @4.32pm Indiana time 7/23/2018 and spoke to Jose. The phone menu and Jose were heavy on mentioning the "free eye exam". I asked about going through insurance, since I figured my insurance would fully cover at least one pair of glasses, but Jose told me that insurance only covers a single pair and that it doesn't cover lenses. Odd, given that he didn't even KNOW what my insurance was, but I somehow wasn't at my best and stupidly let that slide, and scheduled an appt. As soon as I hung up, I thought "there's gotta be a catch to this 'free' exam". Sure enough, I immediately found that it's contingent on your finding and purchasing at least one pair of glasses. Which is perfectly reasonable! You need to SAY that, is all, at some point before ending the call wherein the customer schedules an appt. Jose never did. Neither does their automated phone menu. I called the same number again to see if it was possible to learn who I had talked to, so that I could complain about him. That's when I learned (I asked, and the woman confirmed) that the number on Yelp is a corporate line, not actually the Fort Wayne office. (Sigh). I was told it wasn't possible to know who I talked to unless customer service could do it, and was transferred to, I believe, the actual Fort Wayne office. When I told that woman what had happened, she WAS able to say who I had talked to (his first name, anyway), but defended him regarding him not mentioning that the "free" exam is contingent on buying glasses. She said it's all over their signage and on the website, etc. That may be true, I pointed out, but if a person knows your company name and phone number and books an appointment, they -- like me -- will not be informed of that at any point. When I told her that he, without even knowing my insurance, had asserted that insurance does not cover more than one pair of glasses, she countered that that's the case for 99% of insurance plans. The only thing she conceded was clearly very wrong was for him to claim that insurance doesn't cover lenses at all.' In her defense, she did say she'd be able to listen to the recorded call and then email his supervisor and say what had happened, and offered to follow up with me if his supervisor happened to follow up with her. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, so I'll be going to a legitimate place that doesn't pressure you into not using perfectly good insurance that you have, and a place that doesn't lie (or "provide misinformation", as companies call it). I hardly think it's a coincidence that neither their phone menu nor Jose mentioned that you need to succeed in finding glasses their or else get charged for the exam. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had ....I got an exam back in February. Received my glasses about 3 weeks later, somehow they got lost somewhere. I tried wearing them for a couple of weeks and the prescription just wasn't working. Covid had hit by then and I knew I couldn't get back in. So I looked up their number and called and told them my prescription wasn't correct. I told them I knew I wouldn't be able to get back in soon but I just wanted them to have a record of it. I was told someone would call me back within 24-48 hours....3 weeks later I called again, was told the same thing. I called 4 times and each time I was told the same thing. I just wanted my money back! I went to the optical today to talk to a real person and was told that since it had been a while that I could not get a refund and would have to pay to get reexamined because it had been 4 months...not my fault. They refused to help me. Needless to say I am not happy with their services and will be taking my new frame to another optical, getting another exam and paying for another set of lenses! I'd give half a star if they'd give me the glasses I ordered and could see. They made my reading glasses sunglasses and Vice versa: that would've been ok if they'd have owned the mistake, but the girl showing me the wrong glasses went out of her way to convince me that the wrong glasses were what I wanted. And profusely told me how good the bad ones looked. Don't try to sell me your mistakes! Once they realized the mistake you'd think they'd try to rush the correct glasses and maybe offer a discount, but no. She said it would be another week and oh by the way you look great in these glasses we got wrong! My girlfriend was with me and made an appointment while I was there initially. I went here due to free eye exam and offer of 2 or of bifocals for 77$ and had to spend over 210$. Then they screwed up my orders twice so waiting for fix. Not offered discount for almost month long wait. Said would put rush order on them. When I called back was told they say that a rush will be put on them but they can't really do a rush order. Not happy with service. Ordered prescription sun glasses and aren't any darker to see out of then regular glasses. While there had two others saying not happy with out come and would be visiting yelp to say so. read more

I told the lady that my son broke his glasses and I really need his glasses.... they get you in with a promo "deal" yea I'd call my self a horrible parent if I allowed myself to have my 7 year old wear an adults frame just to save some money!!!! Now I have been waiting over 2 weeks!!!! And they are still not ready!!! And when I called Alyssa was not concerned or had any compassion in her voice at all very blah about it even sounded annoyed! Here is a copy of the email I just sent the companies customer service department. I AM NOT HAPPY! Beware of doing business with this store. I recently had my first experience at Stanton. I went in to get glasses/contacts before vacation. My visit to the store for my eye exam was fine. I picked out two pair of glasses and was also given a trial of conacts. I was under the assumption my contacts/glasses would be available the same day, which was wrong. I was not too happy that the turnaround time was so long. I waited the two weeks or so to pick up my glasses and contacts, waiting until all were in because we live over an hour away. When I picked up my glasses and contacts everyone was friendly and handled it quickly and courteously. When I got home I went to put my contacts up and realized that the boxes were almost the same prescription. Knowing that was not right (I would have noticed a prescription change of that much in the year since I had my last contact exam) I picked up the phone to call and verify that this was correct. I was reassured that, "yes, the prescription in both eyes is very similar" and that they were the correct lenses. I still did not think this was correct, but didn't argue. The next day when I opened the box and put the left contact in my eye my suspicions were confirmed. The contact prescription was NOT correct. I could not even begin to see out of the left lens. I instantly called the office in Ft. Wayne where I got my lenses. A gentleman answered the phone and I confirmed what I had on the box matched what they had on their records. It did. I was told that they were sorry, but that is the trial prescription I was given (which wasn't even close). I could not see a foot in front of me with the lenses I was given when I picked them up-NOT THE SAME AT ALL. I wore the trials on and off for over a week and a half. I was also told that there was nothing that could be done about it. I was very upset. I called back a few minutes later and asked to talk to a manager. I was told by her that there was nothing they could do and that if I wanted different contacts I would have to drive up (a little over an hour there and then another hour back) and have a new exam. I was told because the box was open that there was no refunding my money either (which is why I called the day before when I thought there was an issue). After talking some more with her I asked did the prescription in my glasses look correct compared to what they had for my contacts. She then realized that there was a problem because of the difference in the prescription in my glasses and my contacts. She said she would talk to the eye dr and call me back. On her return phone call I was told that something must have gotten mixed up somewhere and that they would order my correct contacts and then ship them to me from the store so I would not need to drive to Ft. Wayne. This was a few weeks ago and I have still not heard or received anything from the store. I WILL NOT be returning to Stanton Optical if this is not made right. It has been over a month and I still do not have contacts. I was treated rudly by the gentleman on the phone when I suggested that something was not correct. I was told that I had to pay for their mistake by buying a new box of contacts. And I have had the inconvenience of waiting over a month for contacts that STILL ARE NOT IN MY POSSESSION. I understand things happen. But, I do think that the store needs to fix the problem and possibly do something about the inconvience that I have dealt with. Over a month for a box of contacts is ridiculous. read more

I decided to go to Stanton because it had pretty good reviews. I had a pretty pleasant experience with my eye exam and ordered two pairs of glasses from them. They took almost three weeks to come in, and I was pretty frustrated because the girl who helped me was very insistent that they would only take a week or so. I tried not to let it bother me and took my glasses home. I noticed on one pair that it wasn't a full frame and there was almost a 1/4 inch of space between my lens and frame. The only thing holding them on there was some thread similar to fishing line. I assumed the frame just needed adjusting, but when I took them back I was told that because I have astigmatism, this would be a problem with any of the frames that weren't enclosed all the way. Why didn't they tell me this when I ordered them? Again, I let it go and found a new frame. I picked them up Thursday after work, but when I got home I realized there was a chip in the front and later found a scratch where the lens was installed. By this time, there were closed and weren't open the next day for the holiday. I returned today to show them the flaws, but they didn't seem too concerned and wanted to order a new frame for me. It has been almost two months since I ordered the original pair, and this would be my third try. It was beyond ridiculous at this point and I told them that I did not even want another pair, but I have no choice since I already paid for them and they have a no return policy. I called the 800 number when I returned home and was transferred to the store, who then put me on hold and told me they would have to call me back. I called the 800 number back and asked for corporate customer service, who told me that they could not refund the glasses because I have one pair that is fine. She was not concerned with the issues I have been having and all of the time I have wasted going back to the store. Now I am waiting for the response to her refund request for the "free" pair of glasses I purchased? How does that work? FYI They use the frames that you actually pick out in the store. You do not get the designer case that is made for the glasses. Obviously there lab does not inspect the frames before they send them back to the store. All of my glasses took 2-3 times longer to receive than what I was told. $300 later, I should have just gone to Eyeglass World. My boyfriend paid the same price, got a designer case specifically for the frames he purchased, and received his glasses in 3 days. read more

Stepping into Stanton, I noticed that there was quite a good selection of frames for the prices that they advertise. I've been to other places which only have a few pairs of glasses at their low advertised price, but Stanton exceeded my expectations in that regard. They did not exceed my expectations of service, though. I arrived a few minutes earlier than the appoint I scheduled. I chatted a bit with another waiting customer, and he said that his appointment was thirty minutes later than mine was. We were both a bit surprised to find out that he would be served first. I waited for about 25 minutes or so, and apparently there was ANOTHER person who did not have an appointment before me, yet he was also being served before me. The eye doctor informed me that I had not been forgotten, but the reason I was not being served as early was because I was late (which I wasn't). After about an hour of waiting (50 minutes past my appointment time) I was finally called in for my eye exam. The exam was fairly quick, and it did not last longer than 10 minutes. I had already had my frames picked out, so we went right to the checkout. The checkout was a fairly smooth process (the store was getting a little busier at this time, which is no fault of Stanton) except for the "options" I had at the end. It seems to be the store's policy to automatically select options which are "recommended" before instructing their customers what they are about. Even though we got everything sorted out in the end, it seemed to be a shady way to mark up the price. Overall, I had a very long and lackluster experience at Stanton. I did not feel like a valued customer. Now I'm set here to wait a few weeks for my lenses when I could have gone to a slightly cheaper store nearby and had my lenses tomorrow. read more

My husband and I each got a pair of glasses. He returned his because the rx was wrong, and the lab broke his frames, which he loved, and of course they were out of that frame. He chose another pair, and got them back and the rx is still wrong so he's going back again. My rx is bad too as well but I have no faith they can fix it and I just dont want to bother with this place ever again.The Dr. did the exam in 5 minutes - I've never had such a fast eye exam. My daughter was called to pick up her glasses and when she got there they were literally missing a lens and she he had to wait another 2 weeks to get them.
