I've been having issues with my pc crashing and took it to Stan's. They had my computer for a few days and said it was all good to go. I picked my pc up, brought it home and immediately had it crash on me. I tried giving them the benefit of doubt and took my pc back. They then had my pc for a little over a week and told me they had no issues with it and were willing to reinstall windows if I wanted to because there was a chance that was causing issues. My problem with the team at Stan's isn't in their inability to fix my issue, even after charging me $250 which is WILD, but my problem is rather the little things that confused me. I explained that the pc would crash during gaming and at specific moments. One would think that that is where a shop would start to look, but they didn't. I had to talk to them 3 times to get them to start playing a game that was causing issues. I also asked if they could try swapping out parts to try and find a hardware issue, and I was told they could. When I picked it up the second time all they said was, yea we ran it for a while and it didn't crash. Nothing about swapping parts to test different hardware components. I won't be taking it back a 3rd time because I have no faith that they'll be able to figure anything out and I've already spent $250 for them to just reinstall some drivers and windows. Oh and when they reinstalled windows I had to then reinstall critical drivers for my cpu and gpu. I wish I could get some kind of refund, but based on the service I've received so far, I don't think that's likely. Learn from my misfortune and go somewhere else. I bought all the specs for my new build off part picker. (4070ti super, 14900kf, etc) not a single spec was left out. I called stans tech garage because i saw the high reviews and i wanted some professional wiring done for this new rig that came out to be 2280 pre tax for all parts. Tell me now why whoever i spoke on the phone to, after hearing me list all the parts that I ALREADY BOUGHT, just tried to quote me $789 dollars to simply assemble and "test" it. What kind of normal day people are trusting these scam artists?! With 789 dollars you can damn near build an entirely new rig! How utterly disgraceful. Had them replace a hard drive in my laptop that was about to fail. They had a replacement drive in stock. They also suggested I replace the battery which was swelling. The battery needed to be ordered. Even with that, the service was fast, good communication during the process and the price seemed fair (I'm not a DIY-person). read more

Took my laptop in to get a shattered screen replaced- left it there for multiple days, only to come back and they wouldn't replace the screen because they claimed the motherboard was faulty and they would have to do that as well, for a significant increase in cost. When asked if I could just get my information transferred to my external hard drive, they gave me a whopping $350 price tag (BestBuy charges $99 if you're a member/bought your device there). I declined, and had to eat the $79 charge for the inspection. Once I was able to connect my laptop to a monitor with an HDMI (per the suggestion of the Best Buy guy that couldn't help me), I was able to easily transfer my files to my external and the laptop had no issues running while I was waiting to replace the laptop with a new device. tl;dr - felt like I was getting hustled for money and I would try my luck elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend this place. They are not very friendly. The service is bad. There appointment rule is obnoxious. THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGES. Here are a couple examples of poor interaction. 1. Tried to drop off my computer without an appointment to get the fan fixed (was making a noise) and was turned away. I didnt about the ridiculous appointment rule and he made me lug the PC tower back to the car. i eventually made and appointment to get it fixed. Somehow cost close to 300 dollars. Lol. To replace 2 fans! Got home and and eventually set up the computer 3 days later would not boot up. Brought the computer back Guess what.... I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT. HAHA. HE BROKE IT. Anyways I basically got it to yelling match with STAN and he opened up the case and they hooked up a wire that was not connected. Obviously they did not test. 2. A year later I went back against my better judgement. I had been there with another computer 4 years earlier and had windows 7 put on it. So unfortunately for me it would not boot and I wanted just the data The reason I went back there bc I figured they they may have the boot disc which I had lost and hopefully since they installed the Operting system that they may be able to retrieve my data. ooooooh boy. This place has got to be the best place ive encountered when it comes to computer hardware and software. Let me improvise down to a molecular level. First off, i wanted my master piece to be at its best looking and function level possible. I had trouble syncing my RGBs throughout my tower and just could not figure out the damn problem. So i met Jimmy at Stans Tech Garage, and i literally dropped off my tower to him, then got a call with answers and solutions. On top of that, he rewired my whole tower to a robot level. You just want to stare at my tower all day long. If you are building or want a custom pc to your exact expectations, dont even hesitate just give these guys a visit. TRUST me you will not regret it especially in the long run. They do everything else but me personally came here for my custom build. I had a peice of mind with these guys and that is hard to find. I never met any tech like Jimmy before, he is like a physician when it comes to computers!. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Stan, a very handsome gentleman, asked what the issue was then asked me a series of yes or no questions. He offered a free diagnostic that took about 15 mins. In that time, I was able to hear him assist another customer, who self identified as a long-term customer who has entrusted Stan with all his computer issues. I appreciated that unwarranted testimonial. My 15 minutes of wait was over and the adapter was ruined yet replaceable for $150 - reasonable. I accepted the service offered, provided my contact information, made a deposit (that went towards the service) and signed some contracts/receipts emailed me copies. Left. Within two -three hours, I received a text message to pick-up my computer. #Techsavvy They even cleaned my laptop so well... I thought that Stan handed me the wrong one. He had to turn it on and show me my log-in icon picture to prove to me that I was the actual owner. My computer is now charging and I am happy with the service provided. Stan's Tech Garage has saved my ass not once, but now twice. I'm well overdue for a 5 star review. The first time, years ago now, they recovered a bricked laptop. They were easy to work with and affordable. Last week, I was a complete moron and spilled a glass of Diet Coke over the top of my desktop tower. I called Stan's Tech Garage immediately and the staff member who answered walked me through what I needed to do, and let me know when they opened the next day so I could bring it in (I did this 20 minutes before closing on a Friday night). I dropped it off on Saturday and they called me within 24 hours to let me know the damage was limited and my computer/all my data could be saved! They gave me two options with clear pricing, and let me decide on next steps. They worked on it during the week and provided regular updates via text. Picked it up and it works better than it did before (with a new motherboard and fan lol). I honestly feel so lucky none of the most important bits were damaged, and it was easy to get it fixed with clear (and clearly priced!) information from Stan's Tech Garage. My computer is my life - i'm a music producer and have everything catered very specifically to my laptop, so any problem can be stressful. 3 nights ago I got the white screen of death. for those who don't know what this is, it's when your computer becomes 100% not responsive to anything (I went to a few places, tried any key commands, there would be no response). Brought my macbook pro in at 10am when they opened, they grabbed it happily, and within an hour they called me to let me know all of my options. They offered me a few different solutions, from the bare minimum, to the maximum. Turns out my entire hard drive had failed and it needed to be replaced. They quote me 200$-something bucks to get everything fixed, backed up, and up and running again. Unheard of compared to the 600-700 $ estimates other places owed me. I brought my backup external to them, they synced it overnight, and I picked it up the next morning. On top of this I was obnoxiously calling all the time for updates and they were very courteous (thanks for putting up with me). At the end we talked about the future - what my next step for a computer was going to be, and the owner mentioning hooking me up with a fantastic deal on a refurbished macbook. Here I am on a Sunday sitting at a company I manage with computers that were supposed to be set up by Stan's garage people and it's a disaster and we are not going to be operational on Monday for business. Stan's is not by any stretch of the imagination a professional organization that can handle business IT services. If you're looking for a kid who's a tech geek that is an alternative to waiting in line at the mac store for a "genius" (heavy on the quotes there), fine, use these guys. If you need to run a business that has a network and a server and uses actual business applications, your business operations risk being compromised and non-operational if you use these guys. Worse, you have to pay up front - a lot - $100 or more an hour. I paid $1000 and in 10 hours over the course of several days they were unable to complete the transfer of 6 email boxes. Forget connecting the computers to our server, that never happened. So we can't process sales on Monday and email isn't even finished being set up and they're demanding more money and don't seem the least concerned that our business is non-operational. On a deeper level, I think there is little understanding of the needs of a company in general. When I said that at some point after the emails and new computers were set up that I wanted the hard drives on our main admin PC replaced, I was told "we would bring it into our shop to do that". When I said "seriously??" the response was "yeah, why not?". Our company's main admin PC where all sales are processed?? You can't replace hard drives on site and you want us to cease operations for a period of time because it's easier for you guys to change the hard drives at your location? That's straight up crazy for so many reasons from financial to security to just plain practicality and efficiency. Also the fact that this guy had never heard of basic business services like Sharepoint and related Microsoft cloud services was pretty scary. For the current job of transferring emails and connecting 3 new computers to the server, I made if very clear for about 2 weeks previous to the deadline that I needed the set up to be finished on Saturday so that everything was in place on Monday morning. When I called the Monday a week before deadline to start the process, I was told the person who was doing my job wasn't available. They acted as if I'm uptight because I need this finished by the deadline. When this guy showed up on Saturday to complete the set up (or at least I thought it would be completed), it was clear he was in over his head. What a professional operation would do at this point would be to call in an additional or replacement team to make sure the job is done properly and on time. Instead, this guy stuck with the job by himself, calling into his boss or whoever for technical support, and then left without finishing the job, then sent me an email saying I needed to pay more money. When I came in this morning to see what I could do to finish setting things up myself, I noticed that rather than setting up the proper user on each computer first (which was all clearly outlined on the info sheet I gave him), he just used the default admin user that I had used to install the operating systems. So now all the computers, email etc is sitting on the wrong user's account and no ones identity or computer is tied to the company work they do, every computer's identity is the default admin user. What a headache. It looks like I'm spending the rest of the day on the phone with Microsoft customer support to try to figure out how to fix this and finish this job myself. read more

Computer stopped working, did everything I could from my end, short of opening it up myself and risking further damage. Stans was within walking distance and had great reviews so gave them a shot. What could have been worse actually turned out to be my keyboard was shot and needed to be replaced (power button was affected). Needed it for a presentation and they got it fixed by the next evening. The diagnosis has a charge that will be subtracted if you choose to use them for full service of a repair. Stay far away from these rip-off artists. They don't do what they say they are going to do. They do it wrong. They don't stand behind their work. They hold your access codes and configuration hostage so that no one else can work on your computers/network. And, they sell software but it is probably bootlegged because they will not give you the key code. But, they are very good at collecting their money -- in advance of service. And their prices are ridiculous -- $180/hour?! Forgot to say that the tech guy worked at a snail's pace -- no doubt, trying to run up the hourly bill. It took three days to network three computers! And it turns out that they were not actually networked, but Stan's refuse to come back to do it properly. They fail to respond to emails and phone calls to correct the situation and to provide the info of what they did. Even dealt with the guy who ultimately admitted to being the owner (tried to hide it initially) and he was a rude dude. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE IN CRIMINAL TROUBLE FOR THEIR SCAM OF COLLECTING MONEY AND NOT DOING THE WORK!!! read more

This review is one of those I am happiest to write and it's long overdue. First used Stan's when I had a crashed Mac Book Pro about five years ago and that was a pain-in-the ass job but Stan's got me 100% right without ever making me feel like the idiot I am when it comes to computers. They did extensive repairs of that machine and got a new iMac all readied up in record time. Just brought that iMac in for more extensive hardware and software work and Stan's not only did the work in record time but their extensive expert knowledge, NO-BULLSHIT advice and stress-free approach to customer service was very, very much appreciated. Prices are reasonable and transparent. I earn my living with a Mac and can't afford to have anything less than the best to keep my tech supported. I could go to the Apple Store--sure--but not without getting the company line and the glazed-eye stare that all the cultists there are selling. That's why I have Stan's and wouldn't dream of anyone else keeping my electrons flowing as they should. Taking your device to Stan's Tech Garage on the other hand? Full of intelligent brainians. Luckily for me, I haven't encountered too large a problem so Stan's staff swoops right in and without making me like a complete imbecile, fixes my shit (for lack of a better term) with the greatest of ease. My 200th Yelp review goes to this amazing life saving establishment. Where do I start? 2 of my employee's decided they would stabilize one of our company computers and do a system refresh for Windows 8. So they move forward, except that it erases all of important data where we run most of our systems from. Meaning 100s of client's data were lost. Fast forward, I go crazy on them, then rush to Stans. They go through my computer, go through the software company's terrible explanation and try to gather all the data. Takes them about 3 days and they aren't sure they can recover or put it back to where it was, but they start and it starts working great!!! WOOHOO! They really helped save 1000s of hours of work. When this little baby starting giving me problems because of a virus, I decided to crumble and give up. After an emotional breakdown I got off my butt and took it to Stan's Tech Garage.
