Stan's has the old-school charm of bygone era department stores with modern options for work, athletic and casual wear. This isn't grandma's shoe store. Or maybe it is, she'd love it. But us middle aged and younger folks will also enjoy it. Why? Because the staff actually helps you find shoes that fit correctly. I was here many moons ago to buy work shoes. Something professional yet comfortable. And flat, since I can't wear heels. By golly, they found me a Goldilocks shoe that I never would have located on my own. I bought 3 more pair after that as they wore out, no need to change perfection. So here I am, years later, looking for a comfortable, supportive casual shoe to help alleviate my pain. I was asking for a lot, but the gentleman who helped me found the perfect shoe. I wanted to cry, my feet immediately felt like they were being hugged by clouds. The staff at Stan's did it again. Now, it's not magic. It's having someone who helps to find your actual correct shoe size. For 20 years I have just assumed I was an 11 or 10.5, sometimes wide, depending on the brand. Turns out that I've been purchasing shoes a half size too large. I used to love a slightly roomier shoe, I thought that's how it should be. But my recent two pair that I have purchased have literally saved me. They are the correct size, they offer actual support, and they have a generous cushion to them. My knee and foot pain have gone from an 8-10 down to an occasional 2-3. Will Stan's work a miracle for your feet? Possibly. If you've been buying the wrong size forever like I have. But in general I have only had positive experiences here and so far zero complaints. As far as price goes, I have found them to offer the exact same price as I would have paid buying directly from the shoe maker online. For example, buying from Hoka directly costs the same as buying from Stan's. The difference is having them now versus waiting on shipping. Stan's will have occasional sales, but I have not compared pricing for those. So when it comes to value I'd say that yes, Stan's is of comparable value. read more

If you have not had your feet measured recently, go to Stan's! Her I am thinking I'm a size 10, and I should be wearing a 10.5/11! Kevin was so helpful in explaining shoe fit to me and watched me walk, pointing out that I pronate and need more arch support. I should rewind a bit though because this isn't like any old shoe store where you walk in and start trying things on. You enter, grab a number, walk around to look at shoes or take a seat in one of the many chairs throughout the store. Staff will then find you/call your number. I waited maybe ten minutes and spent another 25-30 with Kevin trying on different shoes. He gave me great advice on breaking in the shoes gradually as my previous shoes didn't have much arch support so it would be a bit of an adjustment. I left with one new pair of brooks aerials and ordered another pair that they didn't have in store. Yes the shoes are pricey but getting high quality shoes that fit your feet is important. Shoes that fit well will save you in the long run on future issues. I've already told several people today to head here and make sure they are wearing the correct shoe size and have the support they need. read more

I stopped here for a new pair of shoes and they had one pair left in my size which the woman on the phone gladly held for me. The woman helping me was very helpful and I felt like I was in an old school shoe store where you get genuine help vs a mall/big chain shoe store. The store had a nice variety of shoes and a brand that is recommended for people who stand a lot at work like nurses and doctors which I wanted to try because I stand a lot at work and my feet are starting to hurt by the end of the day. Un fortunately shoe sizes vary all over the place and my size was a little tight so I wanted to try the next size up and they didn't have it but the the Glendale location had them and the woman said she would transfer a pair to this store tomorrow, I didn't want make that drive and she was willing to get the to this store so if she works on commission I didn't want someone else getting it after taking the time with me. Was there yesterday with my mom. We were both interested in trying on some different Hokas to buy. The sales guy walked up to us and asked if we were looking for anything. We said yes so he could point us in the right direction. They don't have boxes of shoes out so you need an employee to help you anyways. He starts pulling out the shoe measuring device and even puts the shoe onto my moms foot...I wanted to try them on by myself so I decided not to ask him anything because that's way too much assistance. My mom ended up telling him that I was looking too. He brought out a pair for me and then never looked at me or spoke to me again. He just ignored me because he figured he was going to get a sale out of her. She continued to try on a few different brands and couldn't decide which one she wanted. She usually needs some time to think. He of course told her she could buy both. These are $160 shoes, people need time to think on it. When she told him she would have to think about it and come back, he threw a fit, laughed in her face, and agitatedly started quickly putting the shoes away. So disrespectful. She was planning on coming back with my father so they could both buy a pair but definitely will not be wasting our money at Stan's. This man should not be customer facing as he smelled like b.o. as well. read more

I ordered a pair of Ecco's a week ago from Stan's, the price was great, a much better deal then the local stores. The order came quick which took away any inconvenience of not purchasing from a local store. Will definitely be ordering from Stan's in the future. read more

Oh my gosh! What an amazing selection! There are so many options! This jam packed store offers tons of shoes - American and European brands. There are also purses, accessories, jewelry and much more! Flats, heels, work or comfort shoes are waiting for you! The gentleman that assisted me was friendly and attentive. He offered suggestions and small talk. FABULOUS selection and amazing customer service. I live in Illinois and shop at Stan's every time I am in the area. I have never found a shoe store with better customer service or better selection. I have and a wide foot and have a great deal of difficulty finding any comfortable shoes that fit well. Yesterday, I left with two pairs!!!! Also a great sale. Had a pair of Merrells I bought for hiking during Covid. 100 miles or so later, the inner heel got damaged and was causing blisters. I took the shoes in to see if they could be repaired. Kevin the salesperson took a look at them, took them to his manager (whom I regret did not get his name) who promptly said they could replace them. $125 pair of shoes and just replaced, no problem. I bought my first pair of expensive work shoes here... I was very happy with the service and how they looked. The staff was very knowledgeable and gave me a nice 5 minute education with how to care for my shoes. Although it was a sales pitch for me to buy more of their products, it was very informative and really helped me understand what needed to be done to keep these puppies shiny and fresh. Best shoes buying experience I've ever had. A sales clerk approached me quickly and asked what I was looking for. I was looking for walking sandals like Chacos or Birkenstocks. He showed me the brands he carried and even suggested another brand I never heard of. After trying both (somehow he guessed my shoe size exactly right) I went with his suggestion. I am fan of Stan's! I visited for the first time evah a few months ago. A foot injury left me with a wonky foot and I wanted to get a pair of shoes for my now hard-to-fit tootsies. I was helped by Thom and he devoted 100% of his time to find me 2 great pairs of shoes. I get complements on them every time I wear them, they fit my needs exactly and both are a super fit. He also showed my what style and construction to look for with my particular needs. This is a full service atmosphere with a decent selection. You are not going to find high fashion here, but there are a lot of career, comfort, and athletic options. All of their shoes must be leather - no vinyl or man made. Not good news for vegans, but I prefer the comfort and health of leather, so good for me. You may have to wait to be helped, but then you have the undivided attention of your salesperson. I did not find Thom to be pushy at all, in fact quite the opposite. I have returned a few times, and while I did not purchase shoes each time (a girl's gotta window shop) I was always greeted and made to feel welcome. (goldi's and piccardy not so much.) You will find better prices for their shoes online. But I have not seen better B&M prices. They carry a lot of brands that you will not see in other stores as well - Euro comfort shoes and the like... I have also purchased scarves, socks, and a purse from them.
