She chose a pair of Irish Setter boots that felt great in the store, but after wearing them around the house for a while, they started to feel too narrow. When we called, the associate told us to bring them back and explained our options: we could try the next wider size or have the boots professionally stretched. After trying on the wider pair, my daughter decided to have the original boots stretched instead. She wore them on a hiking trip shortly afterward and found them to be very comfortable. I've gone here on dates, brought new friends to shop, like jeez I literally have made memories at this place. This isn't Goodwill. It's a little grimey and messy. I even heard one person claim to find a McDonald's cheeseburger in a winter coat pocket. (This has not been a verified story.) But it is CHEAP. Especially if you plan around their daily 50% discounts or their weekend 50% off everything. And that's what you come for, the deals and the hidden treasure!! I've also never once, in the years I've been shopping here, had a bad experience with an employee. They're all very friendly. And I usually bring more than the 3 item limit into the dressing room, never have been scolded (: Worth the stop for avid thrifters. The store is well stocked, clean, and neat, and the workers have always been very friendly and helpful. Plato's closet is a really great alternative for someone like me who likes name brand clothes, but not the price that comes with them. It's great for the environment to recycle clothing, and great for your wallet to buy them!

But us middle aged and younger folks will also enjoy it. Why? Because the staff actually helps you find shoes that fit correctly. I was here many moons ago to buy work shoes. Something professional yet comfortable. And flat, since I can't wear heels. By golly, they found me a Goldilocks shoe that I never would have located on my own. I bought 3 more pair after that as they wore out, no need to change perfection. So here I am, years later, looking for a comfortable, supportive casual shoe to help alleviate my pain. I was asking for a lot, but the gentleman who helped me found the perfect shoe. I wanted to cry, my feet immediately felt like they were being hugged by clouds. The staff at Stan's did it again. Now, it's not magic. It's having someone who helps to find your actual correct shoe size. For 20 years I have just assumed I was an 11 or 10.5, sometimes wide, depending on the brand. Turns out that I've been purchasing shoes a half size too large. I used to love a slightly roomier shoe, I thought that's how it should be. But my recent two pair that I have purchased have literally saved me. They are the correct size, they offer actual support, and they have a generous cushion to them. My knee and foot pain have gone from an 8-10 down to an occasional 2-3. Will Stan's work a miracle for your feet? Possibly. If you've been buying the wrong size forever like I have. But in general I have only had positive experiences here and so far zero complaints. As far as price goes, I have found them to offer the exact same price as I would have paid buying directly from the shoe maker online. For example, buying from Hoka directly costs the same as buying from Stan's. The difference is having them now versus waiting on shipping. Stan's will have occasional sales, but I have not compared pricing for those. So when it comes to value I'd say that yes, Stan's is of comparable value.
