They offer a nice variety of mens and women's shoes. The kids offering is more limited. They are more of an old school shoe shop where you have to wait for a salesperson to retrieve your size. They were short staffed for the amount of customers so there was a lengthy wait. Prices are on the higher end however you're getting a good quality product. read more

I have shopped at Stan's in Brookfield for the past 5 years or so. They have quality shoes that fit me better than most chain stores. The staff has always been pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable, like the old time shoe stores. I was there yesterday and bought a pair of shoes. I was surprised and disappointed with the manner of the saleswoman (Kimberly?) who helped me. She was not friendly, seemed tired and overall had an indifferent attitude in helping me. There was no Thank You to me at the end of my purchase. I wonder if it was because I knew the type of shoe I wanted to look at and it was on the clearance so not much commission? I have not encountered that type of person working at Stan's in the past. Disappointing and I hope not what the future brings. read more

I stopped in here on a whim but have shopped here before. I wanted to try some new colors/styles of Birks. I wanted to try on 1 style but in 3 different colors[see how they look on/with my skin tone]. The sales guy blurted out "They are all the same." I picked 2 other styles in addition to start with as he did not seem very happy to help me but there were more shoes I was interested in. There were customers on the right of the store so I went and sat on the left to give myself room plus I am in a bunion shoe post surgery. He came out awhile later looking for me so I waved him over. He would not come by me but told me that I needed to come over by him. There were 3 boxes with him but he said he only had 1 pair. I asked about the other styles even if the wrong size to see how the color looked and I could order online possibly. He said "yeah, maybe they are online."He said there weren't any in back after I asked several times even in the other styles. No shoes to sell at all in the back but out on display? That is odd. I found a plastic pair of Birks initially while waiting on the rack I brought with me over to him. I asked the price. He didn't know but said could check. He disappeared and never came back and took the plastic Birks too rather than leaving them with me. I was never asked if I wanted to look at anything else, never told that he would set the other Birks up front and never checked the price. As a courtesy to me after surgery, it would have been nice for him to come by me. Oh, I also asked if I could just try on the Birks out on display. He said "yeah" but they were all for a right foot and that is my surgery foot. There was no offer to help carry styles over. I vented to another employee that rang me up and gave him the commission. I have a disability and rods in my spine so I am unable to bend. Because I had a deadline looming that I needed shoes for, I stopped into Stan's in the late afternoon on a day I wasn't feeling well. I was wearing old, comfortable clothing because I was not feeling well. From the get-go I was treated like a second class person. There was no help measuring my foot, it was like pulling teeth to get the sales clerk to get a pair of shoes in my size and when I asked if they had a certain pair in stock I was told "This isn't Target (pronounced as Tar-ge) we don't have multiple shoes in the back." I got no help whatsoever trying shoes on, she dumped them in front of me and left. It did not escape my attention that other, abled, and better dressed people were getting assistance with fitting. I cannot bend due to a disability and could have used the same assistance, but I was treated as a waste of her time. When I asked to try on another style shoe, she would not even look in the back and told me to just try on the display which she knew was not my size. I purchased one pair because I needed them that week and purchased the other on line from the manufacturer. Stans does have nice shoes and good service for the "right" kind of person. I wish I felt better about going back there because they are close, but I hate to reward bad, arrogant service with my business. I cannot help it that I have a disability and I hope that if misfortune befalls this sales clerk, she is treated better that she treated me. (Note: I do not wish for other's misfortune, just that people treat each other decently.) read more

If you have any sort of foot pain whatsoever, check with Stan's. I had some horrible dress shoes from Kohl's, which were really aggravating my foot and ankle pain. I stopped in at Stan's, not really expecting much. They did measure all parts of my feet (including my arches) and recommended Dansko's. The foot pain stopped almost immediately, and my ankle pain improved. I plan on going back to Stan's for any new work shoes. I won't buy the cheap dress shoes from Kohl's ever again. A little on the pricey side - but well worth it if you're having foot or ankle pain and need a good pair of shoes. read more

As a shoe store owner from another state, I have had the opportunity to visit Milwaukee a few times. I can't help but visit shoe stores. I can tell you that Stan's is at the top of their game. They have all the top national brands of walking and comfort shoes plus they have curated a great selection of stylish but comfortable dressy shoes and sandals. I have seen their fall boot selection and it is fantastic. Recognized by their peers as excellent merchants, the owners of Stan's regularly earn high praise for their customer service. Since writing a complaint letter, I have received more than enough positive feedback and help from Bob, the manager at Stan's Fit For Your Feet in Brookfield. He called me within 15 minutes of emailing the letter I had posted here and gave me dates and times of when he would be at the store for me to come in. I received another pair of shoes as an exact trade for the pair that wasn't working for me even though the shoes were much more expensive. I can't be more pleased with the outcome. Visiting from Seattle, we are in town for a local wedding. My son did not have suitable shoes, and our in-laws recommended Stan's, and we found that while the selection was somewhat limited, they were all the brands and styles I have worn - and loved - for decades, offering a nice balance of style and comfort (e.g., Ecco, Clark's and Merrell). As another review noted, these brands are not cheap, but among the ones I have owned - and see on the shelves - they have selected brands and styles that are high quality, long-lasting, and worth the investment. The salesperson who helped us was friendly, knowledgeable and patient with my son's indecisiveness; this is the first time we've bought him a pair of formal shoes in many years (he tends to wear skating shoes). This is a store we would shop at regularly if we lived in the area. I understand that the 1-star review reflected a single bad experience, but having been to the store, I suspect that is more the exception than the norm. read more

Stan's is pretty much the only local place I buy shoes. Their focus is comfort and they carry a pretty good selection, even for wide feet like mine. I had some foot pain earlier this year, and they had no problem recommending shoes that would work better. They're always helpful, although they are sometimes pretty busy. read more

My mom is so happy David took care of her today. After double bunion surgery shoes have been a battle. The first pair she bought were not right but David pulled through today. He put her in Clark's wave riders and she couldn't be happier! We also had a stitching problem with my daughters shoes. Again David exchanged them for us and put her in a pair of Umis. I have to say we were a little hesitant to go back but after today we will be back. I believe in a company that stands behind their product. I went here looking for comfortable shoes for my agonizing feet. I knew the shoes were going to be $100 or more. When I walked in I wasn't acknowledged or greeted. I see they were busy, but still. I hadnt been here for years. I made my way around the entire store never once being acknowledged. I could've pocketed one shoe and they never would've noticed. That is how invisible I was. I did see a shoe Rogans shoes also carries and it was cheaper there. I did not know about the number system nor did I see it when I walked in. Woulda been nice if one person asked me if I had a number or simply said hello how are you doing instead of walking past me. Great salesperson..one of the best I've ever worked with. He was clearly working in the best interest of the customer-my husband. He was patient, knowledgeable and friendly. My husband bought dress shoes for work. They were not cheap like the ones you find at Kohls but they were not super expensive like you find at Allen Edmunds. Trendy and a few good choices. For womens shoes, not a trendy selection...more practical like casual shoes and boots. I did find a few cute hats and would go back if I needed practical footwear. The kids shoes and boots were a bit on the pricey side but qualify. Overall, a very good experience for us. read more

Stan's is one of the few "shows in town" that still offers a few options for the consumer with a narrow foot. That said, my experience with some of the sales associates has been less than exemplary. They will bring an item other than that I have requested and then made insulting remarks when I leave without purchasing. Most recently I was assisted by a young associate who was sincere in his approach. The older associate came over and gave him a "message". When I made a purchase he commented "Oh, I guess I was wrong"--the inference being that I wasn't a purchasing customer. (I've made 3 purchases there in the last 18 months.) Secondly, Stan's prices tend to be inflated. My recent purchase, I learned later was $13 higher than the manufacturer's suggested retail--so my purchase during the spring sale saved me 7% instead of the advertised 20%. A friend who lives close to the Brookfield store indicates that she drives to Glendale because of the reasons stated. read more

I shopped at the Greenfield location and Dennis went out of his way to find the shoes I wanted in the size I needed. Those shoes were at the Brookfield location. So I drove to Brookfield and went to the counter to ask for the shoes that were being held for me, as I was instructed to do by Dennis at Greenfield. Jenny was working at the cash register and projected exasperation and annoyance that I did not take a number. When I informed her that I had driven from Greenfield to pick up the shoes that were being held for me, She rolled her eyes and informed me that this is not how "we" do this and that I should have taken a number. She spoke to me in a loud, shrill, condescending tone for any and all to hear. I stuck to my guns and she reluctantly removed herself from behind the counter to fetch my shoes. It was clear to her that she had overstepped her place as an employee paid to serve me. She attempted to make vapid, inane conversation in that same shrill transparently false squeal. If I could have bought those shoes anywhere else, I would have left. Jenny should be kept in the back stocking shelves. Her false friendly manner is insulting and God forbid any patron doesn't do as she says. read more

I went to Stan's for the first time in Oct of 2014. When a young women acknowledged me, I had explained to her about the heel pain I was having, and my doctor had recommended the store because they have a machine that shows a image of the sole of your foot. After determining the correct insole for me, she quoted a price of 68 dollars. I inquired about a discount, and she stated its normally 10% but i needed something from my doctor showing he recommended them. I told her , I'll have to get it and come back. She hesitated , then said don't worry i'll give it to you. I kept the insoles in the shoes and proceeded to the register. I handed her my charge card , and she rang it up for the full amount, then told me when i get my Dr. letter i can bring it in with my receipt, and ill get my 10% off. I was puzzled as i walked to my car. Then i stopped, and walked back in and returned them while letting them know what I thought about their #@! sales tactics! A different person did the return and was not concerned about what transpired. The gray haired guy with glasses at the register said the doctor has to be registered in their book. I thought what the hell, is this really happening? They were more concerned about losing $6.80 .! Sorry to say, they have a poorly trained sales staff. As a business owner myself, I won't return! I will also let others aware of how i was treated.I'm not sure who Stan is or if he's even alive, but i'm sure he wouldn't approve! Now I went online and found the same exact insole's for more than $30.00 less. So save a ton of money and stress, avoid Stan's by south 76th st ! read more
