I started calling places and spoke to Steve at Famous Footwear and told him I would be there before the store closed for the day. We did not arrive until ten minutes before they closed. My son started looking at shoes and Steve was helping customers but somehow he knew I was the one who called in for the shoes. They have improved in that they no longer call customers insulting names like "shoelover" when I walk in, but they still don't seem to realize they are in direct competition with online choices. Online, my size, 10e, is never a problem. In this store, they seem to operate on some formula for in stock sizes that dates back to the American 1960s. Most of their styles do not have a 10e, they have 10, 10.5 standard width, and 10eee. They say, if I don't see my size, to ask a salesperson, but this results in the sales person looking through the same stack I just looked through (taking a little longer than me) and pronouncing that they don't seem to have my size. Very annoying. I'm going to stick to ordering directly from Allen Edmonds or Kiziks.

But I hate that the options for my giant feet are not great and the things I like are often pretty pricey. Occasionally I will score a good deal on something, but this was not one of those days. The pickings for my size were slim and I had to dodge a giant cart of shoes that a worker was using as their staging area, giving me a look like I was inconveniencing her for daring to shop while she is stocking shoes. The nerve of me! I did find some heel guards at a good price and the sales staff at the front of the store was pleasant so the experience wasn't ALL bad.

Measured, put on a treadmill to see my steps and then recommended a larger size than I had ever bought. He told me I needed to accommodate the larger of my two feet more than my sizing had in the past. He brought out about 4 different pairs/brands and I tested them all out on the indoor track. Eventually we settled on a pair of Saucony. This was a brand I had never bought before and so I was hesitant. But I'm now a month into running with them and they're easily the best running shoes I've ever owned. Price was pretty standard at 150 or so but they're totally worth it. Will be back when visiting my family in Milwaukee. That's how much I loved the store.

I have been going to kohls for a long time because I just like them better than the similar stores of this type. I like the name brand shoes especially and that it's not a Kmart kind of store. Kohls just has all the casual clothing and shoes for a persons daily operation and no the better dressed times will not bring you in here so that type of stuff is elsewhere. My daily casual shoes needed replacement and no gym shoes need to apply for that so I went to kohls and found a nice looking leather casual shoe that will fit the bill. Gym shoes and tee shirts are for the gym so I like a nice comfortable casual shoe and kohls had what I needed. While at the checkout I notice the cashier asking customers if they had coupons or discounts which I had none so I looked at the front door for a flyer and it was empty so no coupons today for me. When I got my turn I was asked if I had any coupons or discounts which I didn't and I jokingly said only if you give me one because I had none and to my amazement the cashier said she had a 20 % off discount for me. WOW my joking actually got me a discount just for a joke so I was completely impressed and felt kohls really is trying to give great customer service. I don't know if this is the norm but I didn't expect that so I left feeling good and that will definitely get me back and I got the $10 coupon also for my next visit.
