I purchased NB 860 about a year ago and I love them for running. I wanted to go back for a pair of shoes for not just running but also gym work. I had some other shoes noted in my account but these also would suit me better for just running for my support needs so I ended up with a pair of Nike cross trainers. Great service by a young man who knew his stuff. I had had two surgeries on my two feet, over a period of three months, and needed someone to help me find good walking shoes. I was impressed with the way my feet were evaluated (on a kind of walking pad that measured my stance, walk, arches, pronation and other things.) Then he brought out several pairs of shoes in a couple of different sizes, and was patient while tried them all on and walked around in them. I got to look around and was over whelmed by the insane amount of options from shoes, to running attire, and accessories. I had the privilege of being helped by Whitney who had me walk around in my socks to see how I walk and the look of my feet. She could immediately get an idea of what kind of shoes I would need. I even found out my feet are two different sizes. So they have you go on a treadmill in sample shoes and record how you run, and from there they describe to you what you need to focus on when buying shoes. From there Whitney brought me a wide variety of running shoes and I got to run on their indoor track to have a first hand experience what felt right until we narrowed it down to my number one pick. Kudos to Peformance Running Outfitters. They've succeeded in creating a store that caters to both casual and serious runners as well as people just looking to get fit without making you feel like an outsider just for walking into a specialty store. As a preface to this review, until I heard of this place, I was the person who ordered shoes online without getting measured or testing out various brands and types. PRO helped change that rather quickly. The staff here is excellent, they listen, and take seriously what you have to say or what you are looking for. Each visit starts with a few questions, followed by a customized fitting and an evaluation of your gait before you purchase. They also feature a sweet rewards program that gives you certain dollar amounts off your next purchase depending on how much you've spent. The owners are fantastic, and I love that they've had their dog in the store two of the times I've visited -- it's a very friendly vibe without making you feel like you've walked into an uber-running store. The other staff are great as well; I especially appreciated not being upsold on higher priced brands just because of the name. I've purchased everything from shoes to socks and cold-weather gloves here and every experience has been great. PRO is the kind of store that will cater to runners and non-runners alike. My husband and I recently stopped in here to get a pair of running shoes. Not only will they measure your feet more thoroughly than other shoe stores, they will have you run on a treadmill to assess your running style, (they do a recording to see which way your feet fall) and offer advice as to which shoe to get. Sometimes you'll wind up "walking away" (see what I did there?) with a pair of shoes bigger than what you had originally worn. They have all the tools available to help you find your perfect shoe. Their emphasis on customer service is second to none, and awesome. Since they are all runners, they can offer you advice and they actually know what they're talking about. Oh wow; Performance Running Outfitters is amazing! You see, I don't run. But I want to. I've been doing really well on improving my diet over the past several months, but I'm still lazy as all get out, and that's gotta change! It was great to work with Jessica, who helped me find a fantastic pair of shoes. I bought a few other items as well, but without the upselling, which was greatly appreciated. I felt out of place here for all of about 15 seconds, but it quickly became clear that they are not in the business of catering only to the super fit and intense runners of the world. They instead meet you where you're at, listen to what you're looking for, and provide some seriously excellent service and information. I was blown away by the service! I only had 25 minutes to spare so I assumed I'd have a chance to look around, maybe talk to somebody for a few minutes and that I'd have to come back when I had more time. Nope - I walked in, was greeted immediately, I told them I only had 25 minutes and they got right to it. I ended up walking out the door with a perfect pair of new running shoes. Couldn't have asked for anything better! This was my first time going to a specialty store for running shoes so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. The sales rep did a quick analysis, asked a few questions about how much I was running and any issues I was having and he was back in minutes with options for me. As I tried on the different pairs he examined how they fit and how they looked when I ran on a treadmill and on the in-store track. I stopped in at 7 PM, was immediately greeted by Michaela and she asked what I was there for. I said new running shoes. She told me to have a seat, measured my foot, had me walk to gauge my arch pronation (?), and selected a few different shoes for me to try on. I tried each pair, ran with each on a tredmill, and Michaela told me what problems she saw with my form and how I could correct them. I would rather spend $100 on shoes (not too bad of a price either) at this store where the service was friendly, you could tell they cared, and they took their time to help me get what I needed, than spend thousands later in life on knee surgery. I'm so appreciative of everything I learned in my short visit when I initially went in to just buy some shoes. My daughter and I were both in the market for new shoes and I hadn't been to Performance Running Outfitters (PRO) for a while (other than to pick up race packets). My new running coach strongly recommended that I go back to PRO to be fit properly when I got new shoes, so, I decided to give it another try. One of the employees greeted us both as we came in, figured out what my daughter needed quickly and got her set up with some new track spikes in about ten minutes. I was very impressed by his knowledge of the available options that fit her needs as a middle distance runner. He was also very personable with my 11-year-old and the two of them chatted pleasantly the whole time we were there (which ended up being a significant amount of time). After taking care of my daughter, our clerk got to work on me. I'm training for the Chicago Marathon and trying to qualify for Boston, so, he ended up being the perfect employee to help me find new shoes for my training program since he had done Chicago and Boston before. I was having trouble finding a shoe that fit properly, corrected my overpronation, and that I liked in terms of looks and price (probably because I read too much about shoes all day long before coming into the store!). He was very patient with me and continued to provide options for me, even circling back to the first shoes we had looked at after we had seemingly exhausted every possibility in the store. Finally, he got me set up with some trainers and then helped me find some speed/racing shoes, too. He couldn't have been more patient and pleasant to work with and I really appreciated that. He made sure I had a pod holder for my Nike watch since I was switching from Nike shoes to another brand. Not a big thing, but a detail that would have frustrated me had I gone home without it. I walked out of the store completely satisfied and happy to have gotten the right shoe for me, even though we were in the store for over two hours. Usually, being in a store that long would drive someone crazy, but, the whole time I felt like we were working together to get me what I needed and that he was concerned about my needs. I've visited several other running stores in town and, truthfully, was a regular at another running store. I can assure you that after that visit, I will be a regular customer at PRO from now on. I've been running in my new shoes for a week and they are great. Totally not what I expected to be running in when I went to the store, but, they are great shoes and exactly what I needed (despite me thinking otherwise before I got there). I couldn't be happier with them or PRO, who made the shoe buying experience pleasant and reassuring. No one wants to drop a hundred dollars on the wrong shoe. I felt like I had the right shoes for me and my needs when I walked out of the store. read more

PRO is the place I first got fitted for shoes back in 2011. Before then, I was just buying any shoe that either looked cool or initially felt good when trying on. Yet, I was still getting blisters and sore feet. Enter PRO and their evaluation, fitting, and chat with a staff member. Exit blister filled sore feet. The staff here is incredibly nice and welcoming to new and experienced runners. The owners are so welcoming and will often go on/lead Thursday (every Thursday at 6pm FYI). Their mini workshops/panel discussions/lessons are very helpful-I still learn something every time, even after running several marathons. Their half marathon mentor program is a blast and reinforces the benefit of being part of the running community. It also provides accountability and motivation as training can be daunting at times. The guy that helped me out was great and all their staff are very friendly!! They did not make me feel stupid, even though they know a lot more about running and proper shoes than I do. I never knew that there were so many aspects to if ding the running shoe that is right for you. I am training for a 10k and running has never been "my thing" but having the right shoes and feet that don't hurt makes it a lot easier to get I to!! I like that they putting into their system so they know what type of shoes works for me. I am a former runner turned walker and elliptical user due to some injuries and my own lazy follow through on PT exercises. My last pair of shoes didn't fit great but I kept them anyway until today because I was intimidated and unsure of what to get to replace them. I stopped into Performance Running Outfitters hoping to get some advice and a new pair of shoes as I have been experiencing foot and ankle pain. I was assisted by Claire who expertly interviewed me regarding my concerns, analyzed my old shoe, and then my gait in socks and then in shoes on a treadmill. She identified a number of shoes and guided me through choosing the best pair for me. I walked out with a great pair, a foot massager and a better understanding of my feet and ankles. This place has it down perfectly. Great selection, other running goods beyond just shoes, and an absolutely fantastic show selection process. My girlfriend and I came here to get her some shoes as she starts running more seriously. They assessed her gait and arch, chose some shoes, and then observed and taped her on a treadmill to assess the effect of the shoes on her run. Used vector analysis in a very convincing way. The guy who helped us, Jack, did an amazing job-- he was incredibly knowledgeable and yet humble and not over spoken or salesman-y. He gave us lots of options and was extremely patient. I started training for running at over 300 lbs, and I went into the Brookfield location pretty close to that. The lovely woman that helped me not only didn't intimidate me, but hunted out a running bra that would fit me. Not only did it fit, but it didn't take her hours to find it. The people at PRO know their stock AND their stuff. I went back to get a Garmin Forerunner 10. The women's band turned out to be a little small for my chunky wrist. I got it at the Shorewood location, but was on my way to a place in Brookfield, so, I called ahead and asked if I could exchange it there. Yes. And just recently, when the wristband broke, I called again, hoping they could help me and I was told to bring it in for an exchange. The staff at PRO are friendly, helpful and all around awesome. I will always go here for my running needs, which includes their lovely assortment of bondibands, which I also love, socks, shoes, chews, water bottles, you name it! I had every intent of going into thier Brookfield store, pimping them out for info & measurements, perhaps even recommendations. Then I was just going to buy my shoes on-line. Little did I know I was walking into the top running store in WI and I did not feel out place at all, which is shocking seeing as what I do is barely deemed running. As a matter of fact I found the store quaint & welcoming. The store was small & insanely busy but dude (who I later learned is an owner) must have spent an hour with me. Videotaped my run on a treadmill & played back, pointing things out. Didn't send me to a wall of shoes & say, "pick one" rather came out of the back with three pairs to accommodate my arch. I couldn't not give this small business my money. I'm a brand new runner, so the refrain from upselling was greatly appreciated especially since I'm such an easy target, potentially needed so much gear. Just the shoes & socks for now is perfect. They're smart; they know I'll be back for more soon. Uh hello got a free candle - love it! So wore 'em this morning - what a difference a good pair of shoes make! And it turns out my Nike outlet running shoes (bring your old shoes in with you) were totally a good shoe for me. I just went here and I agree that the service was great. As I got there, there was a group of runners that had just returned from a run and they all seemed like they were having fun.
