Not sure how to feel... The carpeted stairs they cleaned for us turned out great and looked like they were back to being brand new. However, the area rug, which is made of wool and viscose, looked just about the same as before they cleaned it, which didn't end up being worth the money, nor the three whole days it took for the rug to dry. The technician who did our stairs seemed to be experienced and knew a lot about the company, went above and beyond and did a great job. The other technician, who may or may not have been in training at the time..., did a not-so-great job, was not friendly, and didn't seem to want to help us out with what I asked nor speak with me at all. Leading up to the appointment, the location/company was very flexible and understanding when I had to reschedule my appointment, not once but twice! No issue. I was offered $16 off services, prior to my use of a $20 off coupon, for no real reason, which I thought was very nice. They were flexible with changes up until the technicians physically began the work (for reference, I cancelled one room's carpet cleaning upon their arrival as I was told I could do over the phone upon scheduling and it was absolutely no problem). Just wish I had been more satisfied with the work given the money spent. I may give them another chance but I would definitely be open to exploring other companies for similar cleaning services. Pro tip: coffee stains are not in their wheel house. You're on your own for that one. read more

Terrible Customer service. They do not return your phone calls. My son signed up for a service while I was in the Hospital. As I did not need 3 additional cleanings within one year, they refused all requests for a pro-rated refund as well as even transferring a cleaning to someone else. From what I understood, they had to be micromanaged to complete the one job they did. All they are interested in is getting as much cash for their jobs. Very disappointed. I had all the floors in my house including hardwood floors, carpeting, area rugs, sofa and loveseat cleaned and sanitized and tiles sealed. Unbeknownst to me they do not move furniture. One of the crew told me they cleaned under the beds, only to find out they clean as far as the wand will reach which is maybe 1 foot maximum under the bed. They also do not move litter boxes or other items you would expect. I was expecting the tile to be scrubbed like the photo on their website, not just a spray and vac. The grout did not get clean, nor did the edges just underneath the cabinets. This was an expensive job, and the quality of the work performed is not commensurate with the price I paid. read more

I was quoted a price and when the technician got here he tried to upswell with deodorizer and sanitizer, and told me my basement was actually 3 rooms(it's not) He hesitated to tell me the new quote with a military discount. When I addressed him with how much to clean a basement, 13 stairs and a master bedroom, he said it would be $200 on top of the $316 , I was quoted! He is still here! He said he didn't mean any disrespect. I said it's a bait and switch tactic and I will make sure, not only will I never use them again, but that my friends, family and coworkers don't either. Now I know why they were able to send out a technician within 2 hours of my initial call! I had another guy quote $300 for the areas, but I would have to wait until sept. 5th! I normally do not submit negative reviews, but Stanley Steemer's response to our request to correct a problem caused by their service prompts me to write this. We hired them to steam clean our bathroom floor ceramic tiles and to clean the grout. The tile cleaning was straight forward, but their cleaning system wasn't able to restore the white grout to its original color. They recommended and we agreed to have them use a white sealer on the grout, to satisfactory results. However, within a month or so it became apparent that the sealer was applied not only to the grout, but also left on the surface of the large (20" x 20") tiles along the grout lines. The tiles became cloudy and dirty looking where the sealer was left on the tile surface near the grout lines. We asked Stanley Steemer to return to inspect and see if they could correct the problem. This is where the problem lies. They inspected and acknowledged what caused the problem, but refused to correct their work unless we agreed to pay additional fees to clean up the mess THEY made. The "manager" wouldn't discuss this with us and made the service techs who came for the inspection give us the bad news. This is very poor customer service and I can no longer recommend them even if the services they perform are acceptable. Customer treatment is equally important and this Stanley Steemer location doesn't care much for customer relations. read more

They charged me for four rooms when I specifically asked for 3: the master bedroom, the living room and the dining room. They refuse to give me a refund. Just a gift card for another cleaning. I don't want another cleaning for them to overcharge me again. I told a customer service representative and the technician the day of the cleaning just those three rooms but the technician cleaned the extra bedroom. Then I got the invoice and saw the master bedroom, living room, dining room and front bedroom were cleaned. I called back to ask for a refund and was told the manager would call me. AGAIN I explained to that representative and the manager that I told the technician to only clean the three rooms I specified. I wanted the master bedroom, living room, and dining room cleaned not the front bedroom. The manager said he would call me back and instead someone else called and said the manager told her he could only give me a gift card because the technician said I told him to clean all four rooms. On top of that, the manager said I told him on the phone I didn't want the dining room cleaned. I NEVER SAID THAT! I have been unbelievably clear and consistent to everyone I spoke to in this whole process. This is extremely unprofessional. I told the woman who relayed the message from the manager to have him call me and he has yet to call me back. It's been two weeks. read more

Never. Again. 20 Minutes in and out, maybe less! (I did the 3 room special for $99.) And somehow, in this incredibly short time, one of the guys had time to HIT ON MY HOUSEKEEPER! I wasn't home, so my housekeeper offered to be there. She is a young, 25 year old woman! And when his partner wasn't around, he was asking her what kind of alcoholic drinks she liked, etc. I NEVER would have allowed her to be there by herself if I expected such unprofessional behavior! He also left his business card with his personal cell phone number written on it for her to "text if she needed anything or if she wanted her carpets cleaned!" As if that is how one should make an appointment. He knew it wasn't her home since they had to call me when they arrived to figure out how to turn the water on outside! (As her boyfriend discovered, when she told him about it and looked on FB, he appears to be married with kids!) I was blown away when I saw that his business card stated he was a "crew chief!" Amazing that this guy was in any supervisory position - as my housekeeper stated, he was "really creepy!" My carpets weren't visibly dirty to begin with, just one area where I had, had a leaking hot water heater, which I had my HK point out. They looked a little better there, but I expected more. I don't believe all of the furniture was moved to be cleaned under, especially my sofa. They couldn't have moved and replaced all of the furniture in the time in which they were there! So I agree with Keith G on that! And while I don't know what it is called, I came home to a big cover laying in my yard, and not where it should have been. Sooooo. I'm in the Charlottesville area, made appointment two weeks ago for a day for them to arrive somewhere between 12-5... not happy that I had to waste a afternoon only to be called at 3:00 by technician telling me they would be more like 5:30. I had appointment at 5:30 so I asked them if they could do 6:00, was told no would you like to reschedule... ah no I already wasted one day but is in desperate need of carpet cleaning so I asked what about Saturday 11:00, we shall see what happens. Then received a call from the office asking if the technician had called me to reschedule, I answered yes and expressed my dislike of wasting a day and was asked so you rescheduled? "Yes" okay then bye... what the hell??? Not even an apology for delay... reserving final judgement until I see the results tomorrow but right now... not impressed with their customer service... and the saga continues.. Saturday morning at 9:00 my phone rings, the technician says he could be at at home at 9:45...ahh no. 11:00 am because you know I was trying to sleep in a little Saturday morning but your phone call woke me up... thank you for that.. will not be using this service again. I wanted the Living Room, Bedroom and 2 flights of stairs steam cleaned. I was quoted a price of $119.00 including a "3 area discount" of $20.00. The actual work was satisfactory and the technician was very polite. What I resented was their dishonest way of jacking up the price. I was very clear on the phone about what I wanted done and was quoted a price of $119.00. When the technician arrived he told me that his invoice only specified 1 flight of stairs and that doing both flights would raise the price to $149.00 and that adding an area meant that I lost the $20 discount for a total bill of $169.00! I argued with them and asked for a manager. After a long wait they told me that they'd listened to the tape of my initial call and that I had made myself clear. They agreed to the original price although I still lost the discount! By this time, I told them to go ahead with it. Later I looked for reviews online (which I should have done earlier) and found that the often used these tactics to inflate the price. DON'T HIRE THESE PEOPLE! Let's face it - this is not something you want to spend money on. However, if you have carpet and pets, it's inevitable. This firm does a great job. I have been using them for about 4 years now and have always been happy with the end result. We had a very sick black lab and had quite a few "accidents" within a period of about 48 hours. The smell was horrific and I couldn't seem to get the strains out. They were quick to respond and within 24 hours, we had a fresh smelling home and the bacteria, as well as the stain, were gone. I have used them multiple times. This is the second time they have not showed up again! I spend my entire Saturday at home waiting for them, I call at 12 and ask when they will be here and I'm told between 3-330 and then I call again at 330 and I'm told they came and no one was here. I never left my house, all day waiting for them. I work Monday through Friday and this is the second Saturday I've spent waiting for them. This company is extremely unreliable. The worst ever. My carpets did not dry for over 15 hours. I've been cleaning carpets for a long time and I've never had any take so long. I was soaking up water with beach towels. Then they trailed water on my wooden floors and just stood there while I was cleaning it up. Originally made an appointment for 8-9 on a Saturday to avoid having the carpets cleaned during business hours. Technicians arrived late they were finally setting up around 8:40 when we needed to open at 9. When they finally set up the equipment was leaking so we ended up having to reschedule for after hours that same day. The carpet dried over the weekend and when I arrived Monday the stain were still visible with no change. I scheduled for them to come back the following Saturday and the technician came to tell me that there was nothing he could do about the stains. He gave me no options. He stated that when he originally came he explained to my associate that he would not be able to remove the stains which is not true. He did not explain that before hand or we would have not spent over $250 to not have the stains removed. He also mentioned he went over the stains several times with different chemicals which is also untrue. We have the video footage of the whole cleaning which didn't take very long and was not very detailed. There was no extra time taken on the stains. Overall very unhappy with the service. Will not be using this service again. read more
