So the first thing I always order when trying out a new coffee house is plain black coffee. In my opinion, if you can't get coffee right, then nothing else matters. Standpipe's coffee is legit. Super smooth, not burnt, very tasty. So, then I move in to a frou frou drink, The Spot. Hello! This is my new drink. Scratches every itch. It's choco-blackberry-coffee and the ratios are damn near perfect. I also tried the blackberry Italian soda. Highly recommend. Might be worth the 2+ hour drive from the H. I was in lufkin Texas for vacation & my husband & I stopped at The Standpipe Coffee House, it looked like a super cute comfortable place to get a cup of coffee & just hang out. And it definitely was but i ordered a large vanilla ice coffee with soy & it was the absolute worse! I couldn't even taste the coffee!!! Tastes like nothing but watered down coffee & it had lots & lots of ice! I mean the whole cup was filled with ice. Which made it look like it had a lot of liquid I was super annoyed. I will most likely never go back for the coffee, but I will for the pastries. The cookies we ordered were delicious! read more

My Family loves to go to the StandPipe! Lots of history and tradition in this place, People come from all over to have their picture made in front of the Coca Cola Mural. I love one of their signature drinks "The Irish Lodge", a hot coffee and a good book in the back alley are as good as it gets! read more

We live here and after living all over the US, it is great to find a real Coffeehouse. Great brew, sweets and sandwiches. Espresso is strong not bitter and holds a nice head. Live variety of entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. A daily stop for us. read more

The place has a great atmosphere. Well decorated and laid out. I like the brick walls with vintage signs painted on it. Love it!

I use to enjoy the atmosphere here but things have changed! Unfortunately, the employees have their own parties going among themselves and do not try to talk among themselves. One particular employee was very loud and she used the F word without any regards to anyone else that was in the house. No longer my go to place. Really nice atmosphere and friendly baristas, but the coffee was not the greatest. Not sure if we went on an off day or what, but my latte tasted like old coffee with some steamed milk. Was there yesterday, ordered the Pumpkin Pie Latte. Not only did it NOT taste like pumpkin there was no coffee flavor at all! When I opened the lid to pour it out it was almost white (no wonder it just tasted like half & half)! This was my second and last time I waste my money in there. read more

I love coming home to Lufkin and making an evening trip to Standpipe to watch a local artist and enjoy a cup of coffee. Generally, the food and drinks aren't anything special (you could get the same thing at Starbucks... except for the Italian Sodas). What makes this place so wonderful is the small-town feeling in downtown Lufkin, the local history and old Coke mural on the wall, running into friends, window shopping down First St. and supporting the local folks. read more

This is a very nice independent coffee shop in old downtown Lufkin. I personably think it is better that a Starbucks. Located in a large old renovated building the interior is very nice and comfortable. The inside walls look original and are rather unique. There were two young men working the bar and both were most cordial. They appeared to actually like what they were doing and this reflected well as far as customers were concerned. Our coffee was prepared rather quickly and served very hot. Customers continue to come in constantly while we were there. Parking is on the street outside. We noticed a meeting taking place in the back of the coffee shop with several customers. Lots of chairs including soft leather chairs where we sat.Great little coffee shop and an asset to an old downtown area by helping keep the downtown alive. Prices were comparable to Starbucks or a little cheaper.When in Lufkin make this coffee shop one of your stops and that will help you start off with a great day. read more
