18-Dec-2025 I am not an actor in the traditional word. I am a person who loves and appreciates the art of acting. I do not actively look for any roles and I have no intention of doing this full-time. However, this week I received a text from Standing Room Only to join a group audition call. I joined the zoom and it was for Judge Mathis and I was casted as the defendant. From the first call I feel like this is a legit company and I was immediately provided all of the information I needed leaving no room for questions. Rahul sent an email with all of the information I needed for the shoot. He called me to confirmed I received it. I was told the shoot was the next day, so I drove to Standing Room Only in Culver City. The morning of the shoot I sent the production assistants, Karen and Zack, a text to let them know I was on my way and they immediately responded. I feel like the team was very professional. As soon as I arrived on site the security guards greeted me and told me where to park. Once inside, the security guys at the table checked my bags and told me where to hang my clothes. Once it was time for check-in Venita greeted me with a smile and asked for my photo I.D and passport. Zack had a one on one with my partner and I and continued to check on us until we finally shot our episode. Joe was our producer and could not have been more professional! They had make up on site and lunch was provided for those who were there 5+ hrs. Standing Room Only is a very professional and organized production company. The people all love what they do, and their willingness to be nice and repeat things that I'm sure they say hundreds of times a day, shows me that they have their operations dialed in. So I've filmed with SRO twice in one week. First time I was on court show as a defendant, and second time, I was an audience member for Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen Allen. The court show was fun, and a good experience. Now here's my issue....the email instructions stated how to dress as well as doing light make up before I arrive...ok cool, I did that. The MUA was saying how nice my make up looked, but she would add to it. Not a problem, as I was expecting that. Problem is....she made me look horrible! I looked liked a corpse. I'm thinking to myself....I'm supposed to go on TV like this?!?! I couldn't even be my funny, bubbly self, because I literally wanted NO eyes on me. I wasn't even making eye contact with people as I walked around the studio. I was so uncomfortable and insecure. I wish I could do it again, but unfortunately I can't. The experience and staff itself, we're great, so I won't take from that, but my make up, is what ruined it for me personally. But again, the experience itself on both shows was fun. read more

Admittedly, due to some poor experiences in this industry, I'm always on guard when dealing with a new company. Unfortunately, this business teaches you early on that many people have their hands in your pocket, and you have to be careful about who you trust. I mistakenly believed I had a payment discrepancy for services rendered as talent on a Standing Room Only production. I reached out to Jon at Standing Room Only and to their payroll company--specifically Rajesh--and not once did I go more than a day without a response from either of them. Even though they work in different places and different departments, they both teamed up to help me address my concerns. Ultimately, the issue came down to an error in my own accounting, which became clear thanks to their patience, consistency, and support. I'm genuinely thankful to have had such a positive experience, especially considering my initial apprehension. I would highly recommend working with this team. From beginning to end, the entire process was a well-oiled, smooth-running machine, and had I not made a mistake in my own accounting, I'd have nothing but praise--which again reflects entirely on me, not them. read more

I was very happy to work on an SRO program...a good experience. Then, when a glitch occurred after we completed shooting, the people at SRO made it a great experience. Awesome and excellent, caring and responsive. I e-mailed with what could have been a sticky problem with payroll. What I got back, after only a very short time was a support team giving 100% effort to resolve the problem with 0% run around. Over the next 24 hours every e-mail was replied to in detail within a few hours at the most. Some were addressed in minutes. It came down to the people at SROI, people who cared and owned my issue with me until it was resolved. Thank you SRO Support Staff! read more

Had a great experience on set, however, I was not informed at the booking that I would need to check out afterwards. As it was my first show, it didn't occur to me that I would need to check out and was an honest mistake. The next day I received an email informing me that I had not checked out. I wrote back, telling them that no one told me I needed to check out at the booking, saying now that I'm aware I would make sure to check out in the future. In return, I recieved and extremely rude email: "The coordinator informed you when he checked you into the show. After checking in the show, he gave your clear instructions about the show including where to checkout after the show." I don't know why they felt it was necessary to scold me and tell me what my experience was, but it felt very rude and unnecessary. I tried to call the phone number on their website to report this rude email, but just got a voicemail response. I don't know why they think it's ok to treat people like this but there's PLENTY of other casting websites to use and I don't suggest this one. read more

On my Facebook news feed I learned of The Pawn Stars was in Savannah Georgia and the Standing Room Only was looking for people to be the audience and to bring something to sell to them. I proceeded to go there. While there the staff was not only helpful, but they were upbeat, considerate, and all around wonderful, although at some stages of the day was a little chaotic. Once I got there Emily was so sweet and helped me get registered and acclimated with the set since it was my first time working with them. Did you ever notice that only the prettiest, most model-esque females are seated in the studio audiences of television shows within the camera view? Coincidence or conspiracy? Actually... neither really. It's a common casting agency practice to fill the leftover seats of live-filmed shows with attractive individuals. It's Hollywood.. NOTHING is sacred. Standing Room Only works as a double-fold company. It provides fans with free tickets to their favorite shows merely just for requesting them but it also works as a casting agency to book the seat fillers. I know this because, well, I am one of those seat fillers. Sometimes they hold auditions and place you in their data-bank and other times, they place ads on Craigslist looking to cast the fillers. You get paid $8/hr to watch a show taped and receive cash payment after the show. It can become a fighting match however, because you have to show up at the taping early and stand in line asking for the "SRO Coordinator" and are generally off to the side because the audience can't know you are being paid for this. The audience is let in first and then they handpick amongst the SRO people to fill-in. Basically, if you dress skanky (as a female) or sharp (as a male) you will be let in first. Sometimes, the remainder of the group as to wait outside and are let in to fill as people leave to go to the bathroom, etc. Either way, everyone gets paid at the end of the night. The only problem is, that there are no contacts or number to really call so you just have to hope everything works out smoothly and the SRO Coordinator is within sight all night. 1: Follow the rules. Get there looking the part, you're going to be on TV, put in the work to look decent and you won't be left outside. 2: If you're not early, you're late. #1 rule in showbiz. 3:it's Hollywood, you still might not get booked. It's a gig that you can do when you have a day off or so. They overbook people all the time, however it is to fit the shows needs. They pay ehh OKAY but sometimes you get lucky and you can score a gig for $80-150 for the day. (One time I made up to $190). I got booked very often with SRO, was always early and they helped me get through a rough patch. I was on Ridiculousness, The Bill Maher Show, The Real, and so many more. I had tons of fun doing these gigs, but you definitely won't be rich. For anyone not getting booked: you're either not doing enough on the wardrobe side or you're not fitting their aesthetic. (It's Hollywood and yes they do discriminate if they don't like how you look, it's literally their job to pick out a certain demographic and a certain look) 2020 has also led to bigger payouts bc of Covid. read more

I wish management would actually pay attention to these reviews and do something about it! The staff and crew are short with you, rude, condescending and unprofessional. It's true they let people in underdressed and tacky, while they send well-dressed people home. When you arrive, no greeting, just frowns like they don't want either of you to be there. The staff are INCREDIBLY rude. They talk about other individuals to your face, absolutely disrespectful. I was shocked how they spoke to people, and they just get away with it. 3 out of 4 negative experiences. Just couple of weeks ago their hotline said: Hip trendy outfit, you look on the website, pick your hip trendy look. Guess what? Because it is wrong. A guy at a REAL told me: Yeah, it`s incorrect. Sent me home. Another day, another show: Hotline DID NOT have info with the words: ALL SOLID COLORS of clothes. I arrive to set, a guy says: It DID say it on the hotline. I listen to it again - nope, nothing. It was Mid January. But then he is like: Okay, I ll make an exception today, you can go with patterned pants. Huh? How is that possible? Well I got in. Hotline also says No denim. But I wonder how some people from SRO get on set wearing jeans? Weird. REAL, attempt 2: They did update hotline for that day and now they say: SOLID color only. Show was overbooked. I arrived on time, all good. But only 75 people will get in. FYI - about 20 people were extra. They said, lets see, wait, we ll pay you for 2 hours. But a guy with money does not respond. So we had to wait in the cold weather for our 27 bucks. Lol. He finally pulled in 8:30 am. And the pay has to be for 3 hours, but no: they will negotiate every dollar, even for that extra 30 minute wait, while it was THEIR responsibility. Another day: I arrive on time, before 8-45, show is overbooked. SRO coordinator slowly comes to everyone one by one, meanwhile it is 9:05. Sorry, show is overbooked, we can book you for tmr. Some of the people GOT rebooked, but another girl with me asked for the pay, because they HAVE to pay if you cant get in. Maaaan, SRO coordinator had an attitude: no. Did I check you in? no. Most of the coordinators are awful. Especially Ricky and Rob. (Power trip much) And they short you your money. It's happened to me on several occasions. When you call them out they give you some dumb lie about "out time". They keep losing shows to other audience companies. They don't value the people who put in the effort to look nice and be there on time and work. Until they get rid of grumpy employees and terrible audience members this company will suffer. And that's unfortunate cause this is a great gig. read more

I have some free time... I live in LA... I like to see how the "magic" gets made. So I register with SRO. They book me on paid audience gigs when it makes sense for them - if I meet their demo. And I decide if I am free to do it or not. This isn't the way I make my living so it's all good. You get to see some places and things you would never see otherwise and it's actually fun - and you make a little money too. I find their coordinators to be actually really delightful if you treat them kindly. I see some folks that treat them badly and these seem to be the same type that do this audience/extra work as their main source of income. That's cool if that's your gig, but for me, working with SRO has been a positive experience all the way around. Some of these reviews are pretty bad but Standing Room Only is what it is. To me it's a good way to make extra cash if you have nothing else to do that day. Most of the tapings are in Hollywood or Culver City but they really book tapings all over Los Angeles. They book a variety of shows from court shows, variety specials, talk shows, game shows, and sitcoms. I wouldn't bother to go to a taping if you don't live close because usually it's really hard to find parking. Yes, they are strict with their cell phone policy but they tell you cell phones aren't allowed like 5 times on the recording so while it's inconvenient it's no surprise so it's okay for an afternoon. The shortest I sat in for was the Talk which I got paid for 2 hours. I thought it was a cool show and I wasn't doing anything that day so it was great but if I was trying to make money there really would be no point. Most of the audience for that particular show were ticket holders who loved the show and weren't even getting paid so that's a benefit with working through Standing Room Only. The longest taping, I sat for was America's Court which was about 6 hours. I thought it was interesting to hear different court cases (no they aren't real, it's improvised actors) but after 6 hours, yeah it gets to be a bit much. The people that I see doing it are a mixed bunch. They are either fresh off the bus wanting to act and thought it would be a good start to do audience work (these are people you'll see one time because they realize they won't get any sort of acting work doing this), Russian girls (I have no idea why it's popular with them but there are sure a lot of them), and people in between jobs or unemployed. Good Paid cash at end of taping Get to see cool shows and celebrities Freelance bookings, no schedule to adhere to Sometimes you can meet interesting people Bad Watching a taping can be boring Pay is only minimum wage No cell phones allowed in studio Parking is usually difficult and time consuming to find I think SRO could be a positive experience if you know what you are getting into. I would not recommend if: you are an actor and think a producer might discover you in the audience, live far away, have a low patience factor, have to go to the bathroom a lot, have a punctuality problem, or are one of those people that cannot be away from their cell phone for 1 second. I'd recommend doing audience work through Standing Room only if you live close by to the taping, are looking for extra cash between jobs, are a fan of the show, are interested or excited by TV studios and productions, or have nothing else to do that day. read more

First off. I had trouble signing up and then when I did I could never get on the booking page. It always says it redirected to many times and never gets me there. I have called, and emailed multiple times and nothing. Or they take forever to message back. They say it's because there's not any bookings but that's a lie. My friend who was a member and has the page saved and opens gets booking all the time. She is able to get some. If you are thinking about signing up, dont waste your time because you won't even be able to get past logging in. It's a great idea yeh but what good is it if you can't even work. read more

I wouldn't know because I can't be a part of any of it. Hello, my name is Karina, and I have experienced personal discrimination by the representative of a full-service audience and casing company Standing Room Only - coordinator Derek. I have been working with SRO casting for about two years now. Many times when Derek coordinates the check in of the show I have experienced problem with him taking me out of the booked line and put me on "hold line", keeping me till the end and finally not letting me in for 'wardrobe reasons', while at the same time letting people from the same line as me and aren't wearing 'proper' wardrobe in. Clearly Derek has a personal issue with me, either based on my nationality, my accent, my race or my face. I am absolutely sure all people have to be treated equally, and not be chosen by personal preference. Today December 20th of 2019 me and my friend, who is also many times have been turned away by Derek every time we are together, came to a Masked Singer tv show working at CBS Studious and have been put in a hold line right away. While checking in Derek told me to unzip my jacket and show him my under shirt, that happen to have a pattern. He absolutely ignored me when I told him that I would not take a jacket off or unzip it, that jacket was my look, (also because its cold in a studio). I also had a grey sweater with me in case its gets cold, and offered I could put that on and also have been ignored. Theres no way anyone could see my 'paterned' undershirt, but Derek made it seem like I didnt follow the rules of a 'wardrobe', as well as he pointed at my Whole Foods paper bag that had food in it and told me bags wasn't allowed making it a valuable reason of turning me away. Which made me get reed of a paper bag immediately. He also told my friend Anthony who had grey sweater underneath dark green jacket, that it wasn't considered as a solid colour and did no look dressed up. Meanwhile he did let tons of people in wearing denim, white pants, jeans, sneakers, and pattern even not covered with a jacket in. Also right before the show began he skipped me and my friend and pulled out people behind us as well as people from 'Spec' line (wearing patterns and denims) and let them in, acting like we didn't exist over there. This is the rules & wardrobe instructions from the SRO website, https://standingroomonly.tv/wardrobe-info/ I have worked Masked Singer show several times with other casting company CCI , and never have I ever experienced any issues with them. Also witnessed today people who were booked by CCI and BTS and were wearing, patterns, jeans, white and light colours being checked in and walked into the studio with no problem, while I had to stand in a 'hold' line that Derek put me into. I waited till the end and Derek told me nobody is allowed to go in. I asked for a legal two hours compensation (of my time, gas and parking that I spent coming to this work), Derek rudely walked away without listening to me, made me wait more till he came back. Me and my friend asked a CBS supervisor and security to give us any information regarding who could we talk to if SRO representative Derek doesn't even try to listen, then Derek came back and told us we do not look dressed up and Im wearing pattern, which is obviously his personal opinion because no way my underwear shirt underneath my jacket could be seen. I asked CBS representative who witnessed the conversation if she sees any patter on me , she said "no". Derek ignored that as well. Being absolutely unprofessional and unhelpful Derek told me that I can write a complain to SRO info and walked away without giving any reasonable explanation why I have been denied from work. This is injustice and discrimination towards me that I have been experiencing several times with Derek needs to stop. I came to work, Iwas on time and dressed proper, the fact that he doesnt like me should not affect my work, especially when I am being booked. I will repeat myself everyone should be treated equally. Moreover, I have seen Derek being rude to other people, almost screaming at them when they are forming a line, calling them by the colours of their clothes instead of saying Miss, Missis, Lady or Mr or Sir, as today he said to a girl 'pink, come here' since she was wearing a pink jacket. For one of the biggest audience casting companies in LA this is unacceptable, discriminational and unprofessional. I hope for Derek to start treat people with respect. read more

It's a good way to make extra cash especially as a working actor that needs a flexible part time gig. But be prepared to get treated like a second class citizen or a human prop. Especially by the SRO coordinators sometimes. I haven't been payed for a few shows with this new payroll system. And I've been booked to a couple overbooked shows that I never received my two hour minimum for. Found out later it's the coordinators fault for not checking me in..it's just been a mess with the coordinators..especially when you have to deal with that white guy whatever his name is. I've recently left SRO and am now with BTS..their paychecks are more consistent. read more

I had a fantastic time with SRO and Pawn Stars in Savannah. They were very accommodating and did everything they could to make things comfortable in between the filming. At one point I realized it was past time for me to take my medication. I mentioned this and a security guard quickly brought me a cup of water. 1 star for the way some of the coordinators treat people. I had the worst experience with a coordinator yesterday. She was rude, condescending and sarcastic. Most often you are able to check in your cell phone, but this time you werent allowed to. Even though I took public transportation, I was told no phones. Thank God the woman behind me offered to put it in her car or I would of wasted my 2 hour commute. The coordinator was abrasive with other people, speaking to them as if they were children. A woman was told she couldn't wear jeans, meanwhile I saw at least 10 people wearing them. People were shamed about their dress code or because they were late. I felt like I was in the 1950's, on a segregation line. Two days ago on another show a coordinator separated the check in line into 4 groups. One for people who werent dressed properly, if you were late, if you were on time and if you werent booked. Then you were giving a speech about lateness and clothing. Basically shaming folks. Ridiculous! This behavior is unnecessary. Treating people like they are less than is disrespectful and unprofessional. SRO should train their staff on people skills. We are paid to do a job, we are not begging for food stamps so what's the problem? So, to all the ill mannered coordinators, you reap what you sow and it will come back to you. Because I was confused when she asked me who is your favorite comedian?I don't have favorite comedian and I didn't understand why does she ask me.
