I found this agency through a Craigslist ad. I contacted the agency because they were looking for…read morepeople to use in upcoming projects. They specialize in casting extras or background actors. I went in and did a short cold reading. I was a little surprised to do a reading for extra work, but I was advised they all do bookings for minor speaking roles. I was given a slip of paper to call the next morning, which I did. I was informed that I'd passed that part of the screening process. Next, I was to bring in headshots. I didn't have any at the moment, and Ann advised she could provide contact info for photographers, IF that is what I wanted or I could use my own photographer. She went over the photo requirements. I didn't have a photographer in town right now that I was using, so I used one of Anne's suggested photographers. He only charged $200 for headshots. Once I met with the photographer, I was instructed to meet with Ann later that day. I did as instructed and brought her my headshots. She gave me a resume template and asked me to create a resume and return the next day, which I did. She then advised me about an audition that was happening the next week on a Monday. I showed up at the audition as instructed (it was for a courtroom drama), and it went great. I not only got one of the parts, but it was a speaking role. I am VERY pleased with Ann and LAC Background and I look forward to getting more jobs from this agency.

I entered the agency and enjoyed the setup for the lobby. It was a large open room where the back…read morewall was made of glass and you could see the agents working avidly at their computers behind it. There was a large tv on one of the walls that I found a little distracting and a couple of people sat there waiting for their open call experience. I sat among them. After a quick observation...I concluded that this was one of the rudest interactions I've witnessed during an open call. I was pretty surprised by the way the worker flipped through the portfolio of the model who was there before me. She literally flipped and looked away as she continued to flip, bored out of her mind. Talk about rude. She proceeded to take some digitals of the model and once that was done, plopped down, turned to me and asked me for my book. She showed mild interest and we stood to take some polaroids. Upon standing she asked me my age and when I declared that I was over the age restriction her face literally fell. She might as well have dropped the camera and the act and bid me on my way. With that disclosure she snapped three half assed pictures and at this point I couldn't keep quiet. I asked her how strict the age requirement here was and announced that her obvious disapproval was blatant. She said their policy is very strict and though their direct division casts older models, that they were not currently holding open castings but that she would show them my card. Yeah right. I think someone needs a cup of coffee or some hospitality training. This is the industry but wise up and suck it up. It's not that hard to greet people, take pictures and politely decline them. Anyway, this rating is obviously based on that interaction because I cannot rate how this place is as an acting agency.
